Hey, Rissa! Hope you're doing well!
Just wanted to say I got moved into my new place! It's really nice. It's a mixed-use building in downtown Danville a few blocks from my new job. There's cute little shops downstairs, and then mostly apartments upstairs. I'm on the floor below the penthouse suite, so I have an amazing view! Rent wasn't too bad either, probably because there's this annoying issue with noise from the harbor. I couldn't sleep for a few days, until I bought a whitenoise machine and some earplugs. Hearing the sound during the day is fine-it's kinda relaxing, actually.
I can't believe it's almost summer. It's weird, instead of going on summer vacation next week I'll be starting my new job. It's going to be great, though!
Hope you and Will are doing great! Keep me updated and send lots of pictures of the kittens!
Mollie
Hey, Rissa!
Thanks for sending all the kitten pictures! I think I may need a kitten now, if I ever have time to make it to the animal shelter.
I don't know if my building has a name-there's a sign on the top, but I can't actually see what it says from the street-the angle is weird. I can't see it from work, either. It's probably just the name of the architects or something. Most people know it either as "that weird shaped building" because the penthouse has this strange balcony setup, or "That really good bagel place" because of this cute little cafe downstairs.
My first day of work went well. Pretty uneventful-paperwork, orientation, got to sit in on a semi-boring meeting. The interesting part of the day happened when I ran home for lunch. I was sitting there, eating my sandwich, and there was this terrible racket, like broken industrial machinery was running. Then it sounded like there was some kind of a fight-I heard glass breaking at one point! And then-get this!-everything metal in the house started to move toward one wall. The fridge door opened, my stapler flew across the room, and like every other item in the house just flew toward one wall. I could barely tell, though, because I was distracted by all the random pieces of metal flying by. I thought I saw a rollercoaster, but I couldn't be sure. I thought a chunk of sheet metal was going to come right through my window, but it missed, thankfully.
Anyway, the flying metal debris tore two floors off the building. My apartment is okay, but I have constant construction noise right above me. I told everybody at work what happened, but nobody seemed surprised. I asked to be put up in a hotel, but building management told me they would have the roof fixed quickly enough that my apartment shouldn't have any problems.
So that was my crazy first day at work, or rather, my crazy first lunch break from work. Maybe I should eat in the office breakroom instead?
Keep sending kitten photos!
Mollie.
