Writer's notes: Thank you for all the support and reviews! I know ending a story is always so heartwarming, but also sad because I fell in love with Alec/Bella. *smiles* As always, I appreciate all of you! Up next is Rising Tides! An AquamanxTwilight crossover. I hope to see everyone there.
[4 Months later]
Bella felt miserable being as large as she was. She was ready for the baby to get there. She still had a couple months to go, but she felt like there was no more room for her to grow.
Alec walked through command, looking at the palm pilot in his hand. He glanced up at Bella, smiling when he saw her. "Hey you."
"Hey." Bella said with a smile. "You look busy."
"Just some training stuff." Alec said as he walked over and kissed her softly, bringing his left hand up to cup her face. His wedding band glinted on his hand. They were married two months ago in Alicante. They were celebrated by their people and despite the offer of moving to Idris permanently, Alec and Bella wanted to stay at the institute and continue their lives. Bella wanted to still go to work with Magnus in her free time, because she worked hard to get where she was. She's talked to Clary and Simon since then, they were still in the dark about Bella being a Shadowhunter and it had to stay that way for their safety. Simon said that Edward quit the band suddenly and disappeared, but they found a new bass player that was from Texas.
Bella smiled. She enjoyed being married to Alec. Their lives had been thrown around in a whirlwind it seemed. She felt that things did blow by fast, but she couldn't be happier. "New Shadowhunters from Idris?"
"Yeah. All the twelve-year-olds. Jace and Iz are going to lead training while I take you to go get checked out and check on our daughter." Alec said and rubbed his hand over her belly.
"We don't have too much longer it seems."
"No, she'll be here before we know it." Alec said and kissed her again. "Go rest for a bit. I'll watch the monitors now."
Bella nodded and stood, stretching a bit, before she kissed Alec once more before waddling on to their room to rest for a while.
Alec smiled, watching her leave command. He turned his attention to the monitors. Patrols were going smoothly and there were less demon sightings. He glanced up at Jace when he walked in. "Hey. What's up?"
"Just finished setting up the new training room. We're getting six kids, yeah?"
Alec nodded. "Yes. They'll be here in a few hours. Iz will hold command while I take Bella to her appointment."
"She looks miserable every time I see her."
"She's ready for her to get here. Pregnancy is wearing her out, which is why we decided this was it." Alec said, blowing out a breath. "She wanted to discuss it more, but after the doctor appointments and how hard it is on her, the doctor agreed that one is probably enough."
Jace frowned. "So, she's going to be okay right?"
"Yes, we just have to take extra precautions at delivery. I have a surgery scheduled for myself the week after the induction date we have set."
"Surgery for what?"
Alec smiled a little. "Vasectomy."
"Ouch."
"She insisted that I don't do it, that she can do the surgery for herself, but I figured that she's already gone through enough." He paused. "We're going to double up with special runes too, just to be sure, but this way, we won't be chancing it again." He explained.
Jace slapped a hand on Alec's back. "Well, good for you. Figure out what to name her yet?"
"We haven't settled on a name yet. She wants to see her face first, which I do too." Alec said.
"Fair enough." Jace said with a smirk. "Well, when she finally gets here, she'll be extremely spoiled. Iz already has a room filled with bows and frilly things."
Alec actually laughed a little. "Oh, I know. She's very enthused to be an aunt."
"Well, I'm excited to be an uncle." Jace said.
Jace was a Herondale. The shock was very real throughout the shadowhunter community, but that didn't stop Jace from continuing to be the person he was. Him and Bella grew closer, considering they were brother and sister. He was older by a couple years, but Bella was the more mature one, by far.
[2 months later]
"Alright Bella, it's time. Lean towards me and I want you to push with everything you have." Doctor Wiley, Bella's doctor, said.
Iz and Alec were there as support, holding her hand and helping her through the entire laboring process. So far, everything was going smoothly.
After a few more pushes and a lot of screaming, baby girl Lightwood made it into the world. Seven pounds exactly.
"Oh, she's beautiful!" Iz exclaimed as the doctor lay the baby on Bella's chest, and Alec got to cut the cord.
Bella had tears running down her face and despite being exhausted, she had enough energy to cry tears of joy that her daughter was finally here. "Such dark hair and so much of it." She said and cradled her daughter close.
Alec smiled, leaning down and kissing the top of Bella's head. "You were amazing babe."
"Thank you." Bella smiled, tired.
After a few more moments, they took their daughter to be weighed and cleaned up good. While they waited to get their daughter back, they got Bella situated in a different room for recovery after delivery.
Jace had filled the room with flowers and balloons for when she got back from recovery and it was a pleasant surprise. He kissed Bella's cheek when he walked back in the room. "You did amazing sis. I'm so proud of you."
"Thanks, Jace." Bella said with a tired smile. A few minutes later, a nurse arrived, rolling a clear bassinet into the room that had their daughter in. Jace was mesmerized instantly and so was Iz. Alec smiled, seeing the dopey look on his best friend's face.
Alec lifted their daughter, holding her for the first time and he was instantly in love. "She's perfect."
Bella smiled, seeing Alec cradle their daughter. He was amazing in every way. "Amara Jade Lightwood. It's perfect."
Alec nodded his agreement. "It is. Amara Jade." He murmured. "Welcome to the world little Shadowhunter."
Bella was happy, Alec was happy, everyone around them was happy. Bella's life took an unexpected turn. She didn't think that she would be where she was now, if you asked her a year ago, what the next year would bring. But she was happy that despite all the chaotic mess and Valentine, that she was here now. She was married to the best man there was and they had the most perfect child. Life couldn't get any better than this.
