In a world where there are those who wait an eternity for the seemingly never coming winds of winter and the near impossible dream of spring...
Destiny Islands; an island away from normal civilisations. On the beach of the island were young orphaned teens laughing and playing about with wooden swords. One such was a 14 year old boy with brown spiky hair, black shirt with a white X on it, black short sleeved hooded jacket and red pants with yellow shoes. The boy went down and then the other kid helped up the boy with them looking at the ocean. "Wouldn't it be nice to go sail out the waters and go on adventures, exploring the world at large. Wouldn't it Sora?" asked the other kid and Sora grinned.
As it was getting late they were about to leave when there started to be shadows forming on the ground and out came dark monsters to their fear and shock. They then began running back to the village when they saw buildings on fire, villagers screaming for their lives and the monsters attacking.
Sora noticed a trapped younger kid behind some debris as monsters surrounds the kid, Sora jumped to the kid and helped him get free. He then shielded the kid as the monsters were surrounding them and Sora closed his eyes in fear as he held out his wooden sword defiantly.
To his shock he opened his eyes and his sword was glowing as it transformed into a golden hilted sword with a giant key as the blade. The monsters noticed it and surrounded him as he managed to fight them off destroying them.
Later the next day Sora was being shown a book on legends in the library as there was an illustration in the book of the weapon. "Called a Keyblade, summoned forth to those with strong hearts who are chosen to fight darkness. They can be weapons as well as magic wands and darkness is attracted it. Most of the Key Bearers were wiped out in a Keyblade War."
Sora then began sparring some more with his friends, even doing better against the kid he was sparring with earlier. They even set up some targets to practice firing Thunder, Fire and Lightning magic at.
There was a farewell party for Sora as the villagers of the island helped him put together a raft with supplies to go out and adventure out in the wider world, he was in tears as he said goodbye to his friends there. "We shall be with you in spirit Sora, clearly you were chosen to bear the Key for a reason with a great destiny that it entails." said the caretaker of the orphanage as they all waved at Sora as he sailed out...
Weeks later Sora woke up early in the morning in the tent that he had set up less mile to the nearest town, he sighed as he looked at his supplies and realised that he was running out of food. He had successfully sailed to the nearest land and ended up in a kingdom called Cornelia and set out putting himself out as a freelancer monster hunter and adventurer. He helped some farmers find their livestock who had escaped, protected some campers from some wolves and used his Keyblade to easily take care of some thugs running a protection racket in the first village that he came across.
All free of charge because heroes don't really seek out fame and fortune from the fairy tale stories that he had read in his life.
Soon it started to dawn on him the flaw in that logic.
He was still a young teenage human boy with human needs such as to eat and sleep, which would cost Munny and so only doing work for free will not do him some good when he ends up running out of supplies.
Plus he would still get tired of just walking on foot through his journey with no clear destination so Munny for warm shelter to sleep in would be nice. Plus to get clothes washed as he only had a spare pair and getting the other one cleaned cost him some of the Munny that he had brought with him.
Well perhaps the village will have some rewards for quests he could partake in, being paid to support himself for his great deeds isn't a bad thing.
Whistling to himself he walked to the village and found his way to notice board, not a lot of high paying job offers there. Some heavy lifting jobs which despite the strength that came with the Keyblade, he didn't think he would be the best suited for.
He heard yelling and walked to where the tavern was, there was a gang of scary dressed big men circling around a man in black pants, a black shirt and black gloves and sheaved on his back was a MASSIVE black sword. Sora marvelled at it and wondered he even was able to walk with it on his back, let alone lift and use it.
"If it isn't the so called Warrior of Light here on his quest to fulfill your prophecy to kill Chaos? I suppose that afterwards you're going to kill the Tooth Fairy?" mocked the leader of the men as they began laughing at the glaring stranger.
"I am a knight on an official quest by your king so I suggest that you take a hike before this gets ugly otherwise: I will knock you all down!" the stranger said to the leader getting up to his face as he pushed him back with the guy angry.
Sora knew all too well that this was going to escalate into a fight and decided to step in separating the leader and the stranger. "Why don't you all calm down, go on your way and let the knight continue on his quest?" Sora suggested but the leader glared at Sora as he then picked him up by his shirt with Sora being taken aback and a little frightened.
"Why don't you mind your business squirt; you can get hurt butting into stuff that doesn't concern you. As for the king, we don't respect idiots who sends their knights on a fool's errand..." the leader said only for Sora to knee him in the gut as Sora jumped down.
The leader then jumped Sora angrily with the gang members cheering on their leader, only to stare in shock as Sora then pushed the leader back. Sora having summoned his Keyblade to hit in in the face causing his nose to bleed.
The stranger thinking Sora was out of his mind looked amazed and impressed when he saw a Keyblade, "what do you know, an honest to god Key Bearer... How about we finish these bozos off together kid?" the stranger told Sora as he summoned his sword and they were now back to back. The leader then got up telling his men to get them.
The men then looked at the kid holding the mythical weapon and the knight with the oversized weapon... And then decided that it wasn't worth it and began running with their tail between their legs.
The leader being a defiant and stupid idiot then charged in only to get knocked unconscious by one punch from the stranger.
"That was... Underwhelming..." the stranger sighed and Sora had to agree, "so kid, what brings you here?" the stranger asked putting away his sword looking down at Sora.
"I'm Sora and I came here from my island as I just got the Keyblade recently so I want to find adventures to find evil." Sora introduced himself to the stranger and he took it in.
"Well Sora, I am on an adventure to fulfil a prophecy to kill Cosmos the root all of the world's problems and darkness. You see Cornelia has a prophecy that a Warrior of Light will hunt down and face off against Cosmos, killing him once and for all. Many have tried to face the quest and be the Warrior of Light but most fail. The knights have found a map to the Chaos Shine and I was chosen to finish the prophecy once and for all." the stranger explained to Sora who then flashbacked to seeing his island invaded by the monsters.
Could Chaos be responsible?
"Root of the darkness but how about Chernabog? You know the story of him being the king of darkness and death who was locked away on Bald Mountain?" Sora asked as the nightmarish story of Chernabog was read to his orphanage ever since they were young. Some legends say that Chernabog was the source of all darkness.
"This is no fairy tale, Chaos is the real deal and very real. You want to help me and help save this world once and for all?" the stranger asked shaking his head after a sigh and Sora thought about it.
Would feel amazing to be able to save the entire world so soon in his adventures. Plus helping a prophesised Warrior of Light and help pay Chaos back if he was responsible for the attack on his island?
Seems that he found his first ally as an adventurer who would be with him through thick and thin!
"I'm in, can I ask for your name please brave knight?" Sora asked with a salute as the stranger grinned.
"Jack." the stranger introduced himself to the younger Sora "Jack Garland..."
Consider this a reimagining of the KH mythos but taking place on one world and along with Sora having his Dream Drop Distance attire like in my reforged story, I am making the premise also like a lighter and softer version of the Witcher. Plus why am I making Sora an orphan? Because I realised this new premise necessitated this change otherwise I turn his mother into a negligent parent who lets her early teens son go off on his adventure as if he was an older Pokemon protagonist.
Jack's story will be explained differently than how it turned out in Stranger of Paradise, having bought it yet but i have played the demo and read and seen spoilers.
