A/N: Surprise! A day early and we're ready to end this story. This is shorter than all the other chapters and just a nice little send off. Thank you to everyone who read and reviewed. I appreciate the support. Thank you again to 2 brown eyes, DawnBreaker8, sassynoles, and beta extraordinaire Mel Cee. Alright off we go!
Six years later
The summer after Bella graduated, she and I got married, and we had moved into a house outside of Seattle together. I'd graduated two years before Bella, and I got a job at a small publishing company. When we came back from our honeymoon, Bella had started to look for a job and had gotten one as a junior editor, but she had recently moved up to a book editor, allowing her to work remotely.
Once Jasper finished his degree and Alice had her associates, they moved to New York so Alice could pursue fashion. She wanted to use her art and love of clothes in a city that in her words 'would appreciate her genius.' They were both doing well there, and we visited each other when we could.
Rosalie and Emmett stayed in Seattle, and we saw them a few times a week. They had gotten married after they both graduated. Rose wanted to be a mother for the longest time, and with the relationship we had, it made complete sense. She had dealt with me with more patience than most people could. They had just found out Rose was pregnant with a little boy, and Emmett was excited to have a little guy on the way.
After I had my degree, my dad and I had started to rebuild our relationship, and it had gotten better over time. Luckily, Bella and he had grown closer as well. It was important to me that we repaired our relationship because Bella wasn't going anywhere and we would have kids someday.
Not only did Bella and I love each other, but her dad and Sue adored me, while my mom thought Bella was the best. When our parents met each other, she and I knew that this was the last step in solidifying our relationship.
It was still astounding to me that the first girl I fell in love with was the same girl I was in love with now. We had been together over six years and had just celebrated our two-year wedding anniversary and we were about to embark on a whole new journey.
"What about Brianna?" Bella asked, taking the glass of juice I was handing to her without looking up from the book in front of her.
"I like it."
"Edward, You like all of them." She peeked up from the book to me. She shook her head. "You're not helping me narrow them down."
"I'm sorry, sweetheart," I started, running my hand through my hair. "But I'm more worried about the fact that we will have a little human being to take care of in a couple months. I'm not really worried about what her name will be."
I sat down next to her on the couch and she grabbed my hand and squeezed, causing me to look at her. "Hey. You aren't having second thoughts, are you?"
I chuckled. "It's a little late to unring that bell, but no. Just a little nervous and scared I guess."
"You're gonna be an amazing dad." She smiled and cupped my cheek. "Remember when I got sick on our honeymoon and you took care of me."
"Fuck. I was so worried about you," I replied. Bella was right. When we went on our honeymoon in Japan, she got some kind of food poisoning and she spent the last two days of our week there staying in bed or the bathroom.
"We've been through a lot, babe. I have all the faith in the world that we can do this."
I nodded. "Yeah. I know we can do this." It seemed so simple, but the fact that she had so much confidence in me made me all that more sure this was going to be okay.
Bella closed the book and put it on the coffee table. "Okay. Let's table the name discussion for now. Come on. Time to go make dinner."
She stood up, pulling me with her. We made dinner together, just like every night, and I knew that our lives were about to change very soon, so I soaked up the familiarity as long as I could.
2 months later
Brianna Nicole was born at midnight by c-section after a particularly difficult labor for Bella. We were both sleep-deprived by the time she came screaming into the world, but the moment I laid my eyes on her and felt her warmth in my arms, I realized that Charlie was right. He told me that a daughter was a blessing and a curse.
Bella had to be taken to recovery until the anesthesia wore off so that she could immediately nurse the baby. Once she was done, they took Brianna to be washed off, checked over, and then dressed. When she was brought back to the room, they handed her to me.
My gaze locked onto her eyes, staring back at me, her body wriggling. I wanted to give her the world but I wanted to also protect her from it. Bella's tired voice broke me out of my thoughts about helping Charlie bury the first guy that hurt her. "She's gorgeous. We're so screwed when she starts to date." She laughed.
"She isn't dating until she is twenty-five."
She laughed again as she gestured for me to let her hold her daughter. "That's a little hypocritical don't you think, Casanova?"
I handed her Brianna. "That's exactly why she can't date."
She smiled and looked at our beautiful baby cradled in her arms. "Look at you, Bri, not even a day-old and already you got Daddy wrapped around your finger. You gotta teach me your secret."
I came and stood by the bed, kissing the top of her head. "Please. You have me wrapped around your finger, too."
"Took me longer to do that though."
"Yeah, but the sex sure helped." I smirked, winking.
"I'm too tired to roll my eyes or smack you, so you're so lucky."
I put my arms out and gestured for her to give me the baby. "Sleep, sweetheart. I got our girl."
"Can you lay here with me and her?"
I nodded and crawled into the bed, then she handed me the baby. I held her hand with my free one and kissed her on the temple. "You did a good job, Momma. I'm so proud of you."
She sighed and laid her head on my shoulder. "I told you our babies would be cute as hell."
We both chuckled and I waited for her breathing to even out, telling me she had fallen asleep. "So, it's just us three now. I'm not gonna lie, but I kinda already want a little brother for you, but we will have to give your mom a break before we bring that up. I'm a little scared, but I promise you that I will love you, protect you, and give you everything I can. Try not to make me go prematurely gray and don't date a guy like I was in college, unless you have your mom's sass and then you give him hell." I gave her a kiss on her forehead and held her until she fell asleep. I gently laid her in the bassinet and then curled into Bella, feeling completely lucky and happy with our little family.
