On Today's Episode: Frankie Dude has unveiled his trump card, the Mondo Octo, a robotic kraken that is currently terrorizing Sunset Boulevard. Thankfully, the spies have some extra assistance in the form of Irida, who just returned from her own mission. Can the team take down the Mondo Octo before it levels the boulevard, or worse, Beverly Hills itself?
Act 3: Blue to Darkness
8:01 P.M. – Sunset Boulevard
The big robot octopus immediately attacked the entire spy team.
"INCOMING!" Alex screamed.
Right away, after one tentacle was raised, the spy team noticed their spy team was down two particular members.
"Oh, crapbaskets," Clover chastised. "I think it just snatched up Sammy and Mat!"
"That's right, you wicked little cats," Frankie Dude sneered. "You shouldn't have underestimated me!"
But he was interrupted by a wave of silver light that covered his cockpit window.
"...what?!"
"Now, that's against the rules, ya 'bennies'!" Frankie Dude proclaimed.
That interruption was from one particular person that only Nick immediately recognized.
"Hope I'm not too late, you guys," Irida stated.
"Nah, I'd say you arrived just in time," Nick replied.
"We could always use one more person," Sortiliena quipped.
"It's gonna take a lot to get me!" Frankie Dude replied after having recovered from Irida's presence.
"That's quite the fish stick you guys are fighting," Irida quipped.
"Believe us when we say you're gonna be a fish out of water here," Melissa remarked. "Unless you tell us where Sam and Mat are right now..."
"It's gonna be fish sticks when we're finished with this water clown," May proclaimed.
"Fish sticks to everyone whose summer he ruined," Dawn added.
Remind me to stay away from seafood for this dinner, Nick thought to himself.
"What're we gonna do to save Sam and Mat?" Alex wondered.
"That thing has a lot of feelers," Nick quipped. "And I'm not sure if I could just blast them off of the Mondo Octo without any of the others getting in our way..."
"Well, shall we go up there and distract them for ya?" May responded, hefting her anchor proudly.
"I was hoping someone would suggest that," Nick laughed.
With that being said, May, Sortiliena, and Irida all flew into the sky to distract Frankie Dude and the Mondo Octo so Nick could free Sam and Mat.
"Hey, you faker!" May taunted.
"You're calling me a faker, you little pirate?!" Frankie shouted as one of the tentacles came for May, only for her to slap it away with her anchor.
"That's Jellyfish Pirate, thank you very much," May retorted, moving in to smash her anchor into the main body of the Mondo Octo, causing it to stop moving for a couple seconds.
That gave Nick the chance he needed to fly upwards, form a psychic blade on his right hand, and use it to slash through the tentacle that was holding Sam, then get her safely away from the Mondo Octo before it started moving again.
"Oof, thanks, Nick," Sam stated. "I did not want to be turned into calamari."
"Note to self, stay the hell away from seafood when we all go out for that dinner whenever," Nick quipped.
"Agreed," Sam replied.
Three of the Mondo Octo's tentacles all came together, their "feelers" touching to unleash a large blast of lightning towards Sortiliena, but Irida flew in front of her and spread her arms out to create a field of silver light that stopped the lightning blast cold.
"Nice try, squid boy," Irida taunted before raising her hand to fire another blast of silver light that severed two more of the Mondo Octo's tentacles.
"IT'S AN OCTOPUS, YOU UNCULTURED SWINE!" Frankie screamed.
"Oh, yeah, he's definitely losing it now," Nozomi laughed.
"So help me, we'll see who has the last laugh, you dullards!" Frankie exclaimed as the Mondo Octo raised three more of its tentacles (of which it only had six more, one of which was still holding Mat) and started flailing them around in front of the machine, effectively forming a barrier that prevented the spies from getting closer.
"Try and get your precious Hawaiian dish back now!" Frankie proclaimed.
"Okay, you're starting to sound like a certain other nutcase when you call Mat that, and I am not having that," Sam growled as she threw a pair of Boomerang Buzzsaw Barrettes towards the Mondo Octo.
May assisted by tossing a pair of Incendiary Earrings that exploded and stopped the tentacles from flailing just as the Boomerang Buzzsaw Barrettes reached them and severed through two of the tentacles, leaving the Mondo Octo with only four.
One of the "feelers" on the remaining tentacles unfolded to reveal a set of razor claws that it used to slice through the air and keep the spies at bay.
"Over here, mister bad hair day!" Sortiliena taunted as she flew behind the Mondo Octo. "You want me? Then come and get me!"
The Mondo Octo slowly turned towards Sortiliena, Frankie grinning like a madman in the cockpit.
"Ooh, don't talk to me about coming and getting," Frankie cackled. "I am on the cutting edge of coming and getting!"
Sortiliena took off like a bullet, flying around and dodging the tentacles as they tried to slap her out of the sky. What Frankie didn't know was that this was leaving the tentacle holding Mat wide open to an attack from the rest of the spies.
"Does he not realize he's open back there?" Bridget wondered.
"Rules for villains, number eighty-nine," Haruka quipped. "When using a giant robot, make sure to have defensive options on all sides of your robot. Obviously, Frankie didn't follow that rule very well."
Clover took the honor of flinging a Platinum Credit Card that spun through the air and severed the tentacle holding Mat, allowing him to break free and rejoin the spies.
"Remind me to stay away from seafood for a while," Mat quipped.
"Oh, you had the same idea?" Nick teased.
"On that note, we need to take this thing down before Frankie gets the idea to take that thing onto the surface," Britney responded. "I do not want our city getting destroyed by a robotic squid."
"OCTOPUS!" Frankie shouted in response.
"Yeah, sure," Sam laughed as she used her X-Powder to scan the Mondo Octo for a weakness. "RiCO, anything we can attack to shut this thing down?"
"Its main generator is housed right underneath the cockpit," RiCO answered. "Just get through the armor plating and you can blast it to heck and back."
"All over that!" Alex exclaimed, retrieving a Gemstone Cutting Ring and flying towards the Mondo Octo while it was distracted trying to ground Sortiliena. After making sure that Frankie didn't notice her, Alex went to work, swinging the ring multiple times to cut through the armor plating.
Thankfully, it only took about fifteen seconds of slashing to cut off the plate and reveal the Mondo Octo's main generator. After all, Alex still remembered when Kyle Katz's Gorilliac had had multiple armor plates to cut through before she could reach the generator.
Alex spun around and flashed a thumbs up to Nick, who took that as his cue to get closer and start charging up his own attack.
The last two tentacles wrapped themselves around Irida, and Frankie couldn't resist making a taunting face.
"Oh, yeah, now you're trapped!" Frankie laughed. "What do you have to say for yourself?!"
In response, Irida just smiled. "Look down."
His curiosity piqued, Frankie glanced downward just in time to see Nick firing a Final Shine Attack that pierced through the Mondo Octo's generator, causing explosions to rock the machine and swiftly tear it apart, the pieces of the machine sinking into the ocean.
Irida let loose a burst of silver light around herself that shattered the feelers holding her.
Frankie managed to eject just in time, but instead of making a swift dive into the ocean to make his escape, he found himself trapped in a psychic bubble courtesy of Nick.
"I guess your squid wasn't so mondo after all, huh?" Nick taunted.
"IT'S AN OCTOPUS!" Frankie shouted.
"Oh, just shut up for once in your life," Nick retorted, flicking his right hand upwards to send Frankie off to containment.
"Man, am I glad that's finally over," Blaine sighed once everything was calm again.
"And I seriously hope I don't have to even look at Charleston again for a long time," Alex groaned. "Once was enough, thank you very much."
"Well, now that we're all done here, why don't we head back to W.O.O.H.P. and check in with Jerry?" Irida quipped.
"Sounds like a plan to me!" Sortiliena proclaimed.

Jerry's Office
"Another job well done, spies," Jerry commended. "The Flow will be re-opened tomorrow and business should be back to normal by then."
"Thanks, Jer," Alex quipped.
"And we have already sent them that notice that they can safely re-open with Frankie Dude back where he belongs," RiCO added.
"The manager of The Flow also offered a week-long pass – no charge – as thanks the next time you decide to come visit the facility, too," Jerry added.
"And you accepted the offer for us, too, Jer?" Bridget wondered.
"I did," Jerry remarked. "We at W.O.O.H.P. made the exception this time."
"It's this coming weekend," RiCO added.
"Sounds good," Nick replied. "I think by then, we'll have forgotten about Frankie Dude and everyone else."
Everybody agreed to it, and Jerry and RiCO sent the spies on their way back to the Mali-U campus for a night's sleep, and Sortiliena back to her location, too.

The Spies' Penthouse
"Well, we better get some rest in before our classes tomorrow," Clover replied as Blaine returned to his own dorm.
Everybody agreed, but Nick and Mat, who remembered about asking their girls to dinner, decided to get that out of the way before they forgot.
"Treat me to dinner?" Sam wondered when Mat relayed he wanted to do so.
"For my best girl, of course," Mat smiled.
Sam hadn't forgotten Mat proposed to her over dinner he prepared at their penthouse. To cement a "yes" answer, Sam gave a warm hug to her fiancée and a kiss on the cheek. "I would love it, Mat-honey," she added.
"What if I asked Britney and Melissa to come along?" Mat then asked.
"Sure," Sam replied. "The more, the merrier, honestly. I wouldn't want to leave them out, after all."
"Okay then," Mat remarked.
Haruka and the others stood on the sidelines with grins on their faces over what was going on now.
As for Nick, he decided to ask Alex about dinner over some time in bed. Alex wasted no time and got on top of him, and that's when Nick decided to go for it.
"So, Alex, I'm not sure if I spoiled anything earlier, but... would you wanna maybe go out to dinner tomorrow night?" Nick asked.
"Oh, you silly, I would love to," Alex giggled as she leaned in to kiss Nick.
"I hope it's not too much trouble if May and Nozomi come along, too," Nick offered. "That way, we won't be leaving anyone out."
Alex just nodded, having figured Nick was going to say that, before moving to kiss him again.
When the following day came around, everybody high-tailed it to their classes.
Mat was the first to finish his Journalism class for the day, and he managed to catch the tram back to West Coast Hall with Sam.
"Well, we got time until our dinner tonight, so should we... get a little wet?" Mat asked Sam and motioned to their penthouse pool.
"I'm in," Sam giggled as she and Mat used their devices to change to their swimsuits; Sam had elected on her classic green swimsuit this time.
They then went out hand-in-hand to their penthouse pool, but Mat got Sam to stop when they were about twenty yards away.
"Race ya into the pool?" Mat asked.
"You're on," Sam giggled as she took off after Mat.
Naturally, Mat initially attempted to juke around to throw Sam off guard, but she was too smart for that (that and she'd seen Nick try it with Alex too many times) and jumped for Mat.
Luckily for Mat, he was just a bit quicker on the draw, dodging to the left so the chase could continue.
May and Haruka had just returned in time to see the end of Sam and Mat's playful foot race.
"Boy, you two aren't wasting any time de-toxing from the mission," Haruka laughed after Mat and Sam popped up out of the water.
"Of course," Mat laughed.
"Everyone should be on their way back," May told them, saying nothing about she and Haruka possibly joining.
"Sounds good," Sam commented.
Before long, Nick was on his way back with Alex when they saw what Mat and Sam were up to.
"Yup, they didn't waste a second," Nick chuckled.
"It's Sam and Mat, did you expect anything else?" Alex giggled.
"...touché," Nick quipped.
Suddenly, Nick heard rapidly approaching footsteps, and, knowing what was about to happen, wisely stepped to the side as May tried to Pirate Dive into him, only to miss and go flying headlong into the pool.
Just then, Nozomi lunged forward to playfully tackle Nick into the pool, having taken advantage of him getting distracted by May.
"Okay, who saw that coming?" Sam laughed.
"Ah, therein lies the rub," May giggled. "I intentionally missed Nick with that Pirate Dive. I knew he was gonna dodge me and be too distracted by that."
"That way, I could get him from behind before he could figure out what we were planning," Nozomi laughed. "We made a pretty effective tag-team, huh?"
"I guess that one's on me for not realizing that," Nick chuckled. "And I'm a psychic, so you'd think I would have seen that coming."
"Looks like all of you had the right idea," Haruka quipped as the rest of the spies entered the pool.
"Hey, it's technically still summer, so why the heck not, right?" Nozomi replied.
The rest of the spies used their X-Powders or equivalent devices to change into their swimwear before jumping into the pool to cool off.
All in all, it was a wonderful way to finish up the summer for the spies.

Final Author's Notes from Mat49324: Well, with that, we bring an end to The Water Wars and my 100th project overall. This project may be over, but the overall fun is far from over. I have another one-shot coming on my account that Nick and I worked on for about a week that's coming directly after this, which Nick dubbed Tidal Tussle. Hope that'll give you some laughs and then some with summer upon us. For now, we hope you enjoyed this project (my 100th overall), my next one-shot Tidal Tussle, and our next project, which will be on The Blue Time Ranger's page. It's featuring two particular characters we haven't seen since Jealousy Jaunt. For now, here's The Blue Time Ranger for his final thoughts.
However, lastly, if you're wondering how I made it to 100 projects (both discontinued and finished), here's how I did it:
Totally Spies (84 projects)
Detective Conan/Case Closed (10)
Ranma ½ (5)
Power Rangers (1)
Final Author's Notes from The Blue Time Ranger: And that's all she wrote for this end-of-summer scuffle! I bet nobody expected Charleston to show up again, did you? And it quickly turned into a triple threat match with Captain Hayes popping up, however briefly it was.
With that out of the way, let's talk about what's coming up on the next episode of The New Adventures. Hikari and Makoto, from Jealousy Jaunt, are coming back to town to show the spies the fruits of their film class project, but that might be tripped up by the return of everyone's favorite psychotic filmmaker. Movie antics abound next time on Flip the Script, which will be posted by me. So, until next time, have a fantastic day, don't listen to the screeching morons, enjoy this preview of Flip the Script, and we'll see you next mission!

They stared each other down amidst the burning ruins of the city around them. Chaos reigned, people were scattering to the winds, and buildings were collapsing around them. But they stayed focused on each other, determined to end their bitter rivalry once and for all.
"So... this is where it ends, isn't it?" she proclaimed, clamping down on the last of her nerves. This wasn't the time to be getting cold feet.
"Precisely," he responded, reaching for his divine blade that had cut down everything in his path so far. She would be no different. "You have been a persistent thorn in my side for far too long. You will meet your end here, surrounded by the ruins of the city you failed to protect."
"I've only failed if I can't stop you," she growled, reaching for the device strapped to her belt. She hadn't used it since that day, but...
...it appeared to be her only hope when all of her other options had been exhausted.
"Show me what you can do, girl," he taunted.
"Oh, I will," she shot back, raising the device in front of her and calling out her magic words. "Dear moon goddess, grant me strength!"
Swirls of silver light surrounded her body as she transformed.
"Man, those effects are something else, aren't they?"
"And you called Yosuke an amateur."
Hikari smiled cheekily as she closed up her laptop, which she had been using to watch her personal copy of the movie that she and Makoto had just finished putting together.
"Hey, I said I've never seen Yosuke handle visual effects before," Makoto admitted.
"And now you know not to call him out on that in the future," Hikari chuckled. "Man, I can't wait for Nozomi to see what we put together..."
"Honestly, I really wish she could have been in this one," Makoto quipped. "She would have been perfect as the main heroine, given how many of those cheesy Super Sentais she watched as a kid."
"But you can't deny how excited Rise was when we told her she got the part," Hikari laughed. "I thought she was going to bounce off the walls with how happy she was..."
Hikari and Makoto continued to talk about behind the scenes stuff as their plane approached Beverly Hills.
To be continued in Totally Spies: Flip the Script...
