So this short story is based around early season 3 when the students start working on the snack project. Essentially it's about Patricia trying to get Eddie back much earlier in my au.

Patricia watched Eddie and KT sneak into the house whispering to each other. She couldn't help it, and rolled her eyes. It was apparent to her that the new girl was crushing on Eddie, and Patricia thought that maybe he might even have feelings back. It was her worst nightmare. When she'd ended things with Eddie she hadn't been thinking about how hard it would be to watch him move on. But they lived in the same house and she'd have to be reminded of her stupidity every day.

She frowned and pushed herself to move down the stairs to stand in front of her ex-boyfriend and the newbie. "Hey KT," She huffed out. "Umm so Joy and Fabian already partnered up and I was wondering if you'd want to be my partner on the business studies project."

"Yeah!" KT enthusiastically nodded her head. "That would be fun."

"Okay good, cause I'm kind of useless on my own." She said, Eddie chuckled at this and Patricia sent him a dirty look. The two girls ditched Eddie and went to their room. Patricia was suddenly glad Fabian suggested she partner with KT. Now she could keep an eye on her for Sibuna reasons and her own reasons. That is, she was happy with her decision until KT came up with the idea to make fortune cookies and Patricia wished she'd just tried to do the project on her own. She'd have to fix this, but first…

"What were you and Eddie up to?" Patricia asked KT without looking up from the notebook sitting on her lap.

"I knew it!" KT smiled pointing at her. Patricia was suddenly uncomfortable. "You are still so into Eddie."

"No, I'm not." She bit her fingernail. "But it seems like you are." The only way she could get out of KT's uncomfortable questioning had to be to turn the tables on her, Patricia decided.

"I understand how things look," KT winced. "But trust me, we're just friends." Patricia stared at KT for a moment, against her better judgment, she sort of believed her.

"Really?"

"Seriously, Eddie's great, but I do not see him like that."

"But you've been getting close with him," An idea popped into Patricia's head. "Well, maybe you could find out how he feels about me?"

"I thought you weren't into Eddie," KT grinned.

"Yeah, well I lied." She shrugged.

"I'll do it,"

"Great!" She put her notebook off to the side. "One more thing, about the fortune cookies…"

The next day Patricia felt more at ease. With the fortune cookie idea fixed and a budding friendship with KT, things were starting to go her way. Now she just had to get Eddie back, and then of course there was the small matter of Victor's mysterious bracelet and the Egyptian writing Sibuna had stolen. Patricia wasn't convinced that the bracelet was a part of some huge mystery like before but it was a welcome distraction from their classes.

Back in her room after school, Patricia sat alone on her bed staring at the ceiling. She hadn't quite felt like herself since the school year started. At home that summer it was harder to tell that she'd changed. Maybe the trauma from the year before had finally caught up to her over the break or maybe she'd just started to grow up but now that she'd been back for a couple of weeks it was clear she was different. She wanted to get back together with Eddie the second they showed up at Anubis House but honestly, she had needed some time to see how this new version of her fit in with her old friends and if she was actually still interested in Eddie. He had changed a lot over the summer too, but Patricia made up her mind. She just hoped he still cared about her the way she cared for him.

The door flung open, making Patricia jump. KT and Joy stood in the doorway. "We have a plan!" KT announced. Patricia looked wearily between the two girls.

"I knew you were still into Eddie," Joy flashed Patricia a huge smile.

"Don't start," Patricia jumped up. She wanted Eddie back but she didn't need the girls meddling in her love life. "KT, I just asked you to see if he's still interested."

"And questioning him has led me to believe he's still into you."

"What'd he say?" She rushed to KT's side.

"Well, I was too vague and he thought I was talking about me and him." Patricia opened her mouth. "And he politely turned me down," KT added before Patricia could get mad.

"That's great!" She let out a breath of relief. "I mean, not for you, but-"

"Like I said, I'm so not interested in dating Eddie." KT shrugged. "Anyway, he totally still likes you,"

"I think so too," Joy added.

"You need to make Eddie jealous," KT suggested.

"Absolutely not,"

"Come on," She whined.

"I won't do it,"

"Fine," KT threw herself on her bed. "Then we've got no plan."

"Your whole plan was just for me to flirt with somebody else?" Patricia snickered.

"Why don't you just talk to him?" Joy frowned. "It worked last time,"

"Simple." KT sat up. "That could work,"

"But you didn't see how I dumped him,"

"And why exactly did you dump him anyway?" Joy questioned.

Patricia looked between Joy and KT. She sat down next to Joy on her bed. "I was scared of my feelings," She said under her breath. KT moved to sit at Patricia's other side.

"Just be honest with him," Joy nudged her. Patricia clutched her stomach, the anxiety building up in her. As hours went by Patricia realized they were right, the only way to get Eddie back was probably to be honest about why she'd broken up with him and to share her feelings.

Patricia stared at Eddie sitting on the other side of the sofa. They were the only two in the living room. Now was as good of a time as any.

"How are you?" She asked casually. "About us, I mean," She added when he looked over at her.

"Oh! Ahh… cool." Cool, like popsicles, Patricia sighed.

"Well, I'm not,"

"You're not?" He studied her expression before stating. "Me either,"

"Do you want to talk about it?" Eddie went quiet and looked away from her. After a minute Patricia sighed and stood up to leave.

"I guess I just don't get what happened." He finally said. "I thought everything was going good, you know."

"It was!" She crossed her arms. "That was the problem,"

"What do you mean, Patricia," He said in exasperation.

"I got scared, okay!"

"You got scared!" He stood up.

"I got scared because I love you!" Patricia and Eddie stared at each other in silence for a moment as the words hung in the air between them.

"You used present tense," His mouth twitched upward, and he took a step forward.

"Yeah, I know what I said, Weasel."

"I love you too, Yacker." The teens smiled at each other. "So does this mean we're back together?"

"Yeah sure," Patricia shrugged trying to seem nonchalant. "Whatever,"

"Cool,"

"Cool." Patricia leaned in and kissed Eddie. She had always kind of hoped they would get back together the second they broke up. The two pulled apart and smiled at each other. They were better together, and Patricia didn't plan on letting him go again.

I lowkey wanted to still do the Jerome and Patricia date to make Eddie jealous but Jerome is still dating Mara at this point so that didn't work out. At least it happened in canon. I'm thinking my next fic for this au will be about Eddie telling Nina what Sibuna has been up to while she was gone because I'm really excited to see that myself. Also for anyone who's reading my other fic On Each Other's Team, I finally have Chapter 3 outlined and I'm hoping to get that story moving along again very soon.
