Here I am again. It took me a while to be stratified with the English, so I hope you waited patiently. Hope you like it!
The next days he trained by himself in the Gym. His Master didn't recover as fast as Izuku, he still was on bed rest. So he had to wait till his Master could teach him about the skills he now could use. Izuku theorizes that this was the reason why there wasn't a person older than 30 in the Arena.
The body couldn't take too much stress, especially if they were older people. The doctor had explained how the power of a legend put a lot of stress on the body. After all, the power was given, it wasn't something that the person was born with. So they couldn't build up a resistant.
Most that used the power too much and recklessly became medically problems with time. But Izuku shouldn't worry too much, the doc explained. How strong the powers were and how compatible the host was with the legend, were points that decided how strong this degeneration part was.
Yasuo was mostly a melee weapon fighter, so the powers were few. With the program that he went through, he should have a high compatibility with his legend. „The time when we didn't have that little program was hard. The chairman would have to go out, scout the person, evaluate them, and they would have to find a good legend." Had the doc said.
„Hi. I'm Sona, are you new here?" asked a boy with brown hair and milky eyes. Automatically he took the offered hand „Yes, I'm Iz-. I -I mean Yasuo." The eyes of the boy didn't follow the motion or looked him in the face - he was blind. The boy smiled, „You must be really new-new if you still stutter over introduction."
Izuku blushed as his mistake was caught.
Till now, Izuku had always trained in a separated room with his teacher, so he hadn't had the chance to talk with the other legends. Luu had explained to him that in the league, you shed your own identity and became the legend. So you introduce yourself with the legend's name, that you represent. It was so that the others would have a hard time tracking you with your real name. But that was a side note.
Now that he was in the public training room, he could finally meet the others!
„Sona?"asked Izuku after a moment. Which legend was that again?
Sona nodded excitedly „I mostly act as support, with my music I can do many things. Want to fight together or sometimes spar?" Asked Sona with a smile. As if he didn't just suggest to fight against someone. A normally bad thing, that was forbidden.
Izuku just shrugged his shoulders. Trying to not let it show how it affected him to hear it so casually said. Like it was normal. Sona's smile became a little fond. „The new kids really don't know how to react. Come on, my team for tonight's fight is over there. We wanted to train together, before we step into the arena."
Sona took Izuku's hand to pull him over to this group in the corner, while excitedly continuing talking „You will have to look at our fight. Today we have the jungle arena, so we are confident that we can win with our group. I just hope that nobody gets too hurt."
Izuku just went with the flow. He couldn't do anything else, too shocked to do anything. This was the first time in a while that other kids talked to him freely. The kids at school mostly ignored him, so this was a welcomed change. Now, how do you have a friendly conversation again?
That night, he saw the fight from one of the big screens, as he had promised Sona.
It was exciting, to see how others fought in groups, how they built their strategy and the skills that each one had. Izuku promised himself that he would take a notebook with him the next day. His hand shook with how much he wanted to write down his analysis of the legends.
But there was also doubt. Everyone saw how a young adult woman had her arm broken, her head slammed into the ground so that blood flowed out, and how a kick to the stomach was the reason that she spit blood. She would need medical attention after this, for a while. All the while the people around him, the other legends, were calm and just talked to their friends about how she could have done something different. Not as if this woman was seriously injured and would need months to heal!
It … was so cold. He knew that it wasn't very different from what he did to the small thugs he fought. But those were thugs, and this was a woman who didn't do anything wrong.
But … she knew what would come. He knew that this could also happen to him, most likely as soon as his teacher thought he had the basics down.
After all, you needed to get experience to really learn how to fight. But, was this worth it?
Before Izuku could think deeper about it, Sona ran up to him „And how was it? Cool? I can't wait till you can go into the arena. Do you know how much training you still need, till you can?" He asked questions after question. Because he wanted Izuku to answer. Like Izuku's opinion was important.
When was the last time someone was earnestly asking him something? Too long.
This whole League business wasn't perfect, but … Izuku-. No, Yasuo didn't want to give this up. Yasuo smiled „I should ask my Teacher as soon as he comes back. Maybe we can fight together sometimes?"
In the next year's Izuku became a more silent vision of himself. The memory of Yasuo that he had, showing their impact. Even his oblivious Mom had taken notice, and this while still not saying anything about the broken bones or wounds he got from fighting. She didn't even say anything when he didn't come back home for day's because he had to stay at the medical bay in the headquarters.
Slowly, he let his hair grow, so he could make a short Ponytail. The phantom feeling of hair on his neck becoming too much.
In this one year, his teacher Yasuo came down on him hard. The first week he had to come back with broken fingers and a body that was beaten black and blue.
"We are Yasuo. We don't train half heartily. All or nothing, Life or death. We decide if we hold on or if we give up. What will you decide?"
One thing, Izuku had his whole life, was stubbornness. Even when the whole world was against him, he still holds strong on his wish to be a hero.
So he came back, again and again. He took his dull training sword in his broken hand, bite his teeth together, and began started his training with teacher Yasuo.
After his training, he would meet up with Sona and his friends. Would talk with them and gave them pointers on their strategy. That was the best time of the whole time. He wasn't the quirkless outsider. He was Yasuo, a sword fighter that had a good head on his shoulders.
A little sad how a normal talk was all he needed to be happy with the day. In his school, he was still the bullied loser. Some got cautious as they saw how he became calmer, more collected. Like a string ready to snap. But with each day that he just let him bully him, those cautious moments became less and lesser.
Some day's he saw the few underage kids, like him in the league, that lived in the headquarters. Because that apparently was an option.
As long as you talked with Luu about why you wanted to have a room here, with good reason, you were given a room.
Izuku had asked his teacher once how the League could afford all this. Every room and piece of technology was of the newest technology. They had holo-screens instead of normal screens!
The fights were awesome, but you couldn't watch this for money. It wasn't a business. So how could they afford this?
His teacher had given him a simple explanation, "There are Legends that have a very successful life outside the arena. Heimerdinger has a technology company, that brings in millions per year. Many of the musical Legends go into the music industry. With all the sport we make, some also have very beautiful body's and go into modeling. Every Legend that makes enough money, contributes some of it to the League."
His teacher sends Izuku flying with a strong swing of his sword. Izuku crashes against the wall, punching the air out of his lungs and making his bones grate. Trying to catch his breath, Izuku hears his teacher continue, "We are self-sufficient. We don't need any of the outside people. As long as the League stays together, we will get over anything."
The Ranks had Sona explained to him. The Gems that everybody had, saved the fighting score of the person. Izuku was in the Iron Rank, he hadn't really fought yet. Till his teacher gave the get go, his score also wouldn't rise, even if he fought and won in the arena. Every Year all the winning scores in the lower two ranks (Bronze and Silver) would be counted and the 20% with the better winning scale of each rank would get the chance to go a rank higher. If they lost 3 fights in a row, they were out again.
From Gold Rank on, things changed. Like before, the 20% were selected, but now they would have to fight a one on one battle in the arena. If they won, they got the position of the person they beat, if they lose, they just stay in their Rank. There were just 30 places in Gold Rank, 4 in Diamond and just one Grand Master. From 159 Legends, there are just 35 people that are able to be at the top.
His teacher waits for Izuku to get back up, he mentions after a moment of hesitation "Even if we should be divided, the League will survive. If you get to a high enough position in the League, you will be taught all the emergency plans that were made."
Taking a deep breath, Izuku leapt to his feet and swung his sword at his teacher, to make him take a step away. Leaping back, his teacher didn't wait long to take on an offensive stance for an attack.
Running to him, Izuku and his teacher crossed swords again. Like always Izuku was pushed back, even through his teacher wasn't in his prime anymore, he was so much stronger than Izuku. He would need to raise his weight again, Sona would make fun of him, while Draven would laugh at him, for not being strong enough.
Sona would then tease Draven about how Yasuo would soon be stronger than Draven. So that at the end, both would bench press weight against each other.
Later, Izuku would smile to himself, because his head finally made the connection to his Teacher's words. His teacher thought that Izuku could make it to the top of the League. For the hard, silent man spoke that of high praise.
That night, he slept without nightmares.
At the End of his one-year basic training, he finally had his first real arena fight. The Sword his Teacher gave him at his hip, in a very similar outfit like the Yasuo in his memory. With dark green harem pants, with a dark green jacket, his arm bracers were secure on his forearms and his sturdy brown leader boots, he felt like he could do this.
He wasn't the small scared quirkless kid. Here and now he was the new Yasuo, that would be in his first arena fight with his trusted friends at his side. His teacher had gone with him to the changing room. Sora was at the opining in the Arena "An open Plain, so we can't just hide." Sora looked at Yasuo "Don't forget that the people will try to bodily harm you, even if you know them." reminded he Izuku.
Izuku nodded as calmly as he could, "Don't worry, you and the others had all beaten that in my skull. Even if I fought against you, I would not let that stop me." Sora just smiled at him. In a dark corner of his brain, Izuku was again wondering what was going on here. That the Legends were happy if you promised them to bodily harm them in case of a fight.
But that part has long since been ignored.
Turning to his teacher, Izuku didn't know if he should say anything.
This man was his teacher, one of the first to believe in his own strength, that saw in him potential. Both looked in the eyes of each other.
With this fight, a new generation from Yasuo would begin, while the old one would slowly disappear. His teacher would go back to his civil family, that didn't know about the League, he would most likely not come back. Even if Luu still knows how to contact the old Yasuo, he would just do so in a dire situation.
In the end, neither said anything.
Izuku bowed deeply to his teacher, a perfect 90° bow. Behind him, he could hear Akali "1 minute, till you first fight." Straightening, Izuku looked a last time at his teacher, his teacher nodded and that was all the new Yasuo needed to turn around and make his way to the opening to the arena. Where his team for this fight stood.
Akali raised an eyebrow, "Ready, green bean?" "We can start." were his words, with a small smile in the corner of his lips.
There was no turning back.
His first fight was … different. Two of his team were sent to the medical bay after the fight, Draven had one arm broken. As he had fought against Alistar, the hulking man had taken hold of one of Draven's Swords at the same time as Draven tried to twist away. With a strong hold on the Sword in front of him and Draven's Body already on the way around the hulking form of Alistar under his arms, while not letting go of the sword, gave the perfect opportunity for Alistar to swing his hand down on Dravens arm. Dravens arm yielded first, so that he now had a broken bone.
That idiot had fought till the end.
Amumu, a teenager boy a little older than Izuku, that was also in his team that day, had his legs burned by one of Annie's magics. The little girl had used a good strategy, so it was no surprise that Annie had been able to hold her own against two Legends and hurt one of them so that they couldn't fight anymore.
While sitting between the beds of his two teammates of the day, he thought that maybe he should ask Annie if he could fight with her together the next time.
Well, that could wait till after they had a small private party about Izuku's first win.
After his first fight, he became swiftly used to the arena fights. The first time he fought against Sora and hesitated was terrible - they lost that fight. With every arena fight, he learned more and more. Yasuo's abilities that he couldn't use at the start were coming now smoothly to him, he knew now when to use them and against whom.
When Yasuo wasn't fighting, you could find him at one of the big Holo-screens to analyze each legend he laid his eyes on. They weren't pro heroes, but Izuku's passion was still burning to let him take apart the different fighting styles, to look at the powers and their weakness.
Those were the moments where Izuku's brain could run wild.
His life outside the league was becoming with each day bleaker. Now that Izuku knows how it is to be a normal person, to be acknowledged for his fighting powers and to have friends that didn't bully him, was the outside life nothing more than a burden.
One day when he fought with Sora again, his friend had been worried about him because he had seen Yasuo limp "You can't just hide your injuries!" had Sora belittled him "It's not that bad." had Yasuo tried to push Sora's worries away.
Angry, Sora took his hand to pull him in the direction of the medical bay, "Oh no, you don't. When you are injured, even if it is just a small wound, you will go to the medical bay. Don't forget that we have Legends here that use poison, even a small wound could ensure that it could be detrimental." After they were in the medical bay and Sora sat Yasuo on a waiting chair, he threatened "I will check after each fight on you, if I have to. So don't test me."
That … was one of the first times someone was concerned for him. His heart felt warm as he looked at the upset Sora. Even his mother didn't care if he came back home with a bruised body or with blood on his clothes. Hell, when he had complained to her about Kachan at the start and how the burns from him hurt, all she said was "He has a Quirk, he doesn't know better."
At that very moment, Izuku understood that his mother didn't care about him. Oh, she feed him and gave him a roof over his head, but there ended the responsibility.
If Kachhan hurt him or anyone else, she didn't care. She didn't go to school to talk with the teacher, to help him. She just said that it was like this and end. She didn't love him.
That thought stung, because she was the only reason why he even still went home, why he tried to be home before dinner.
Maybe … it was time to ask Luu for a room at the Headquarters.
He could live here, have a calm morning and hang out longer with his friends. He wouldn't have to go back up on the streets as much - aside from school.
School was complicated, the teacher and students harassed him and Kachan was his mental tormentor since he could remember. But Izuku still had his dream of becoming a pro hero, so he could help people with a smile on his face.
A Pro Hero had to have a license, that he got after graduating from a hero high school. That means attending Middle school, so he could apply for a hero high school. Even if Izuku would sometimes like to just stay here in the arena.
Looking up at the ceiling, Izuku let his mind race. Should he really do it?
Sora suddenly held a bottle of water in front of him, "Here. Water is always good." Izuku took the bottle, "Where did you get it? I thought the next automate was a few hallways away?" asked Izuku confused. Sora smiled cheeky, "I went and got it like normal. You just didn't notice how I left, because you were in your own world again." Izuku went red at Sora's reminder of his faults "Thanks." was all Izuku got past his lips "You're lucky that it didn't happen in a fight." reminded Sora him, that would be fatal.
Sitting down beside him, Sora looked into Izuku's eyes, "What did you cook out inside your head?" Yasuo let out a sigh while sliding down in the chair, "Seems like I need to talk to Luu." was all he said.
If you have queations you can ask. I always love to read you comments :-)
