Chapter 4
I'm sorry It's been months since I've updated this. I've been busy with school and everything. If anyone is interested in my other stories, if anyone actually is, I will try to update them soon also.
Dean froze immediately, eyes set on his little brother. Sam looked so vulnerable and helpless slumped unconscious against the vampire, sure Sam was a tall kid but he still looked so young and it reminded Dean of the five-year old Sam who would cling onto his big brother whenever he was scared or ill. Honestly he wished Sam could be that age again, he wished his little brother could have that innocence back.
"Please." He muttered brokenly not caring if he sounded weak, he just wanted Sam back and safe. "You have my word. We'll leave and come after you again." He pleaded.
"Luther, maybe we should consider their deal. I mean I don't know about you but I'd sleep better if I knew at least the Winchester's weren't on our asses." A voice behind Dean sounded and Dean felt like he could hug the guy.
"No. Why let them go when we can just kill them all. We'll be known as the ones who finally killed the Winchesters. We'll be legends." Luther replied.
"Well at least we'll all go out together. I wouldn't have been able to live with himself if Sam had died alone." Dean thought miserably. "Let's get them all inside." Luther ordered as he unwrapped his arm from around Sam's neck and caught his as Sam fell straight down towards the ground. Dean cringed as he watched Luther hefted Sam up into his arms in a bridal style. "No monster or demon should ever be that close to Sammy." Dean growled in his mind. Luther carried Sam back inside and Dean followed mindlessly, not wanting to let Sam out of his sight. He knew they were done. Dead. Just like that. Even John was still too young to die never mind him and Sam.
Dean felt his dad stumble into his side and saw that a vampire had pushed him in the corner of his eyes. What worried him was that John didn't seem to fighting to try to get them out of there, probably because he knew that they were outnumbered and that if they caused any trouble Sammy would be the one that paid for it. He slowed a bit to see if his dad was alright but only got shoved forward himself and he heard his dad saying "you dare lay another finger on my son and you'll be sorry" in a low, warning voice, but that was only replied with snickers which he guessed that were from the vampires, he knew they weren't scared of them because they held all the cards.
They were herded into a room which looked like their sleeping quarters and they followed Luther through the rows of hammocks and towards the far end of the room. Dean did start struggling when cages appeared and he saw one of them was occupied with two women, a man and a small boy "sick bastards feeding on children" Dean thought and nearly threw up when he saw the child look up at him with huge, wet pleading eyes and started begging for him to let him go. The kid looked so much like Sam when he was little, he had longish, brown hair and big brown puppy eyes.
"Put Dean and John in the other cage." Luther ordered without even turning around to face them but he still had Sam cradled in his arm.
"What!? No! I'm not staying here without Sam!" He heard himself cry out which made Luther spin around quickly, Sam's limp arms and legs flying around with the fast movement.
"I don't think you've got much of a choice Dean." Luther sneered out with an evil smirk and Dean stepped forward to challenge the vampire, but before he could take a second step he was grabbed from behind and lifted off his feet and he then felt himself being thrown through the air and was slightly dazed when he knocked his head on the floor, he watched as a blurred version of his dad running towards him and heard a door squeaking shut and a clicking sound and felt what was left of his hope that they were going to get out alive completely crumble when he realized he and John were caged and Sam was alone and vulnerable with the vampires. He managed to sit up and he felt a firm hand land on his back and Dean found a little bit of comfort in his father's attempt to comfort him. His vision cleared enough for him to see Luther kneel down outside the cage, somehow with Sam still in his arms and he felt creeped out when the vampire just stared at them through the cage with the same evil smirk set across his face. Luther set Sam gently down on the floor between him and the cage wall.
"What do you want with Sam?" John's voice sounded from behind him, his strong hand still spread across Dean's back.
"Well you see vampire's LOVE mating, the gender doesn't matter... And I think Sam will be a perfect mate for me, he's so young and don't forget friggin' gorgeous. He'll make a good addition to my family, don't ya think? Don't worry though, we take good care of our own."
"NO!" Dean shouted in unison with his father.
"No! Please! Leave Sammy alone! You can do whatever you want with me but let my boys go!" John pleaded.
"Now why would I do that? I need another mate and you're too old, and you're pathetic, you couldn't keep us from hurting your son." Luther replied.
"No that's not dad's fault it's mine, it's my job to protect Sammy not dads." Dean thought guiltily.
"What do you mean I'm too old? I'm probably younger than you!" John shouted back.
"True, but like my mate's to still have a bit of innocence still in them and Sammy here definitely does."
"Don't call him Sammy!" Dean snapped "take me instead then! I'm still quite young!" He continued.
"Yes Dean you are young but you don't have any innocence left. I can smell it in you, you reek of the countless girls you've slept with since you were about sixteen."
"Fifteen actually." Dean found himself stating proudly before he could stop himself.
"Exactly. You're such a man whore Dean, but don't worry, if you want some vampire ass I'm sure I could sell you to a suitable partner, one that likes used goods. But Sammy, he's only done it with one girl and only a handful of times." Luther joked the first part and then reached down and stroked a gentle hand through Sam's hair and Dean growled feeling nauseous seeing the vampire touching Sam in a way Dean used to comfort Sam when they were kids.
"Just how I like them, practically new to the experience but still with a little bit of experience... Although Sammy hasn't done it with a guy before so he's practically a virgin." The vampire stated not phased by Dean's warning growl.
"Neither have I." Dean countered.
"That doesn't matter, you've slept with too many girls." Luther finished and stood and bent down and picked Sam up again, Sam was still limp and that only made Dean's worry escalate.
"Do you really think Sam will agree to be your mate after what you've done to him?" John asked trying to keep Sam in their sight for a little while longer.
"He will if he thinks that he's saving his family." Luther replied with a cocky smile spread across his face and that shut Dean up, mostly because he finally figured that they were done, John was going to be killed, he was going to be sent off to be a plaything for another vampire and Sammy was in the same situation that Dean was in.
"Don't worry you'll see Sammy again but he'll be one of us and I think you'll be his first meal John." The vampire said smiling down at John, who just dropped his head and Dean knew he was giving up.
"Well as much as I'd like to stay and chat. Gentlemen, please hand all weapons and phones to Nate here." Luther said nodding his head in the direction of the vampire who wanted to let them go. "No playing around now, remember I still can kill Sammy here right in front of you." The vampire warned and Dean sighed and dug through his pockets for his mobile and his pocket knife, he looked over to see John pulling a gun out of his jeans and he remembered he had his and did the same and handed everything he had over to the hand that was waiting patiently through the bars of the cage.
"See isn't everything so much easier when we all play nice." Another voice came from the dark corner of the room and Luther laughed.
"Me and Sammy will see you sometime tomorrow for Dinner, John." Luther said to John and walked away from the cage towards the way they came in, taking Sam with him, and it dawned on Dean that it was the last time he'd see Sam, well human at least. All the vampires filled out by Luther, leaving Dean and John in their own, miserable silence. After a few minutes of silence John spoke up. "Uh, hey, Dean, if this is worth anything, probably isn't because it's too late now but I didn't mean to do what I did to Sam back on that road. I didn't mean to hit him or push him away to the point that he felt like he had to leave. I wanted to tell Sam this but I can't obviously so I just wanted you to know."
Dean looked at his father for a moment before replying "well... If it's worth anything, I know Sam didn't mean what he said either." John snorted with a short and low "yeah right."
"He didn't, I know Sam. I think he was just nervous about working with you again after what happened before he left for Stanford." Dean's tone sounded protective, and John's heart warmed seeing that Dean is still protective of his little brother.
"But I've seen him after that." John replied.
"Yeah only for a bit Dad, and you and him didn't really talk, not about what happened anyway." Dean stated back.
"Yeah I guess you're right. I was nervous as well I think, I mean I didn't want us to fight again, I just have a problem with him being so independent." John ran a shaking, nervous hand through his short beard.
"Why? He was at Stanford for years and he managed on his own, found himself a girl, got an apartment with her. Isn't it a good thing that he's independent?" Dean asked.
"Yeah, but he's still my baby boy, Dean. He's just grown up so fast. It felt like just yesterday that he was so small and clinging to me, begging me not to leave him on his first day of school, but now-"
"Yeah, but he enjoyed it so much he didn't shut up about it for a week." Dean interrupted in an amused tone and John laughed a little before his smile dropped again.
"But now he's a young man, the same age I was when I met your mother, and it feels like there is a huge wall between us, I mean we haven't had a single conversation in years without it ending up in an argument. I just wished that we could've straightened everything out before something like this happened." John sighed warily.
"I think he wished for that too."
"What?!" John asked.
"Dad, about a month back, we were on a hunt where there was a father and son that was so much like you and Sam. The dad was such a dick but-" Dean was interrupted by John said.
"What are you trying to say?" John warned ready to give Dean's head a light smack just in case Dean was being his usual smart-mouthed, cocky self.
"That's not what I mean. Anyway Sam said something to me."
"What?"
"He said that he wasn't sure that you'd want to see him when we found you, he looked so heart-broken dad. I do know that he loves you so much. I guess he just kind of hoped that you would've been proud of him for getting into Stanford."
"I was proud of him. I still am. It's incredible that he's even still standing after what's happened to him since I saw him last. I mean losing Jess like he lost your mother must've been hard on him." John said sounding defensive.
"Yeah it was. Dad, I just wished you would've told Sam that you were proud of him."
"I know Dean and I'm sorry." John stared at Dean with eyes that were similar Sam's puppy eyes.
"It's alright Dad. It doesn't matter now anyway, we're dead."
"Maybe not." John said cryptically.
"Dad, what have you got planned?" Asked Dean.
"Just wait and see son." John said again being incredibly vague.
The door was when smashed inward and many men filled in all carrying machetes. Dean jumped up ready to fight thinking they were vampires coming to kill them but then recognized some familiar faces, such as Bobby Singer, who had pretty much been a second father to Sam and Dean before Bobby and John had an argument, Jack Jones, his dad's best friend and Trevor Leeheart, who his dad had hunted with many times. There were about 15 others. Trevor was the first to spot them and rushed over with his machete up ready to attack. Dean glanced over to John with a questioning look and John shrugged with a small smile gracing his lips.
"Tell you later." John assured Dean and then turned to Trevor who had just reached the cage with Bobby and Jack right behind him.
"Trevor. Guys." John greeted them "great timing guys." John grinned at the men and Trevor and Bobby smiled back as Jack forward to deal with the padlock on the cage door.
"Yeah, impeccable timing." Dean added. Jack made quick work of opening the padlock and freeing Dean and John from the cage.
"Out you go son." John said patting Dean on the shoulder and Dean scrambled out of the cage and was grabbed into a hug by Bobby.
"Good to see you again, kid. You've grown up so much." Bobby's southern low voice whispered in his ear as Dean wrapped his arms around the older hunter. Bobby released Dean from the hug and then looked towards John, checking his former friend over for injuries. John noticed him looking at him and extended his hand forward to shake Bobby's. "Singer, thanks for coming to save our asses." Bobby shook John's hand whilst saying "no worries, Johnny." All bad feelings between them had seemed to be gone.
"Let's go get Sammy. Luther won't know what's hit him." Dean hated to interrupt the friend's reunion but he had a much bigger matter, which was getting Sammy back before he got turned.
"Sam? The kid's with you?" Bobby asked happy that he'll be able to see the once floppy-haired kid with the puppy-dog eyes.
"Yeah, he was taken by the vamps." John left out the part about his and Sam's fight hoping that he and Bobby could become friends again but he knew the older hunter wouldn't be happy to find out that he had let Sam run off in the middle of the night and get attacked by the vampires.
"Well then, let's go get the kid." Bobby said. He knew there was more to the story but that could wait until they got all three Winchesters out alive.
To Be Continued...
I'm not entirely happy with this chapter for some reason, the chat between Dean and John isn't the best. Let me know what you think.
