Chapter 52

Finally Home

It had been a few months since the Battle for Humanity happened and negotiations and rebuilding of Marley had started. Willy Tybur had agreed to a peace treaty that all Eldians were now human beings and not Devils and that the Island of Paradis were to be left in peace but to talk trade deals with other countries. Karina got to bond with her granddaugther and Athena as they stayed and Gabi got to know her cousin a bit more. People from Marley that were brought back from the dead were hesitantly welcomed back, but a program was set up for them to be put back in society. Athena sent a letter to her sister to see if her and her friends along with people that died along with the Warriors could come home to Paradis a month ago and she got a response back from Historia saying she be happy to have them all home. Armin and Jean would be in charge with Pyxis and Nile to help rebuild the Military while Hange, Erwin, and Levi stayed in Marley to tell their stories.

Athena sat at a table in a room. Conny was standing at the window and Jean was standing at the mirror. She sat between Pieck and Reiner. Armin and Mikasa sat with them. Athena sat in a blue suit jacket and matching skirt to go with it. Her black hair was in the middle of her back. Sara was somewhere with Karina, who decided to join her son and granddaughter on the island, not wanting to be seperated from them. They were on one of the two boats that would bring them home to Paradis with those that were brought back to life. Reiner had a hand rested on Athena's leg.

"It'll be nice to be home again after a few months away." Athena said, relaxing back in her chair.

"Your sister seems happy to have you coming home." Mikasa said.

"She is." Athena said with a smile.

"Jean. You seem awfully concerned about how your hair looks." Pieck said, watching Jean.

"For all the girls who ever open a history textbook." Jean said.

"Don't you mean the field guide to horses." Reiner said. Athena snorted.

"It's a damn shame you got a new lease on life, Reiner." Jean said.

"Watch it. You might be my daugthers godfather, but I'll still kick your ass." Reiner grumbled. Annie came to the door.

"Paradis is within sight now." Annie said.

"Finally." Athena said.

"Armin. Do you really think this is going to work? We destroyed the walls. We betrayed the island. We killed Eren, a man revered by the People of Eldia and we're the allied nation's ambassadors for peace talks." Annie siad.

"Personally I wouldn't be shocked if they sank our ship right here." Pieck said.

"Believe in my sister. She wouldn't want to loose her heir to the throne since her and Ymir are now engaged to be married and don't want kids. Plus Sara is on the ship. And her first move was to protect Jean's relatives and Conny's mom. I know she'll defend us too." Athena said. Conny nodded.

"Us weak little things." Annie said.

"Annie. Conflict will never vanish. But when they see us all together like this. They'll have to want to hear about our story. Why those who tried to kill one another for so long have appeared on Paradis to advocate for peace. They'll want to know what we saw. Let's tell them everything." Armin said. They stepped out onto the deck. Reiner disappeared with Mikasa to let the others know they were close to Paradis. Armin leaned against the railing as they watched as Paradis was shown in the distance. Athena lifted her face to the sky. The breeze felt good on her face.

"Mama!" Sara ran towards her and Athena picked her up. Karina came over.

"She is full of energy." Karina said. Athena smiled. Kira came over to Conny, who wrapped his arm around her. The two had started dating after they stopped the Rumbling.

"We're finally home. I'm happy you decided to come with us." Athena said.

"I couldn't say no to Reiner and I want to see my granddaughter grow up." Karina said. Athena felt arms wrap around her from behind and leaned into Reiner's chest. Besides I don'twant to miss your wedding." Athena and Reiner smiled at each other. Paradis was coming closer. Athena felt unease in her stomach as it got closer and she saw people standing the pier. Kiyomi was among the people there to talk, but Athena saw Historia in front of everyone.

The ships dock. Reiner and Athena took Sara's hands as Armin walked down the plank first and they follow with the others. Historia had to fight the tears seeing her friends back She saw her sister wasn't kidding as people gathered on the deck of the ship, but Pyxis and Nile came down after the ambassadors. She was happy to see her sister and Sara together and Reiner with them. Armin approached Historia.

"Commander Armin and Ambassadors. Welcome to Paradis Island." Historia said.

"Thank you, your highness. It was a long road, but we're home." Armin said. Historia looked towards her sister as she came up towards Historia with Reiner and Sara between them. Both looked happy.

"Athena." Historia said. Athena looked at her sister with a smile on her face. "I'm glad your home along with Sara." Sara ran over and hugged her aunt. She smiled and returned the hug.

"It's good to be home Historia." Athena said. The sisters embrace. "There's someone here that wants to see you." Frieda came over.

"Frieda?" Historia asked.

"Hello, Historia. I'm glad to see you." Frieda said with a smile. The girls hug. Frieda had decided when she found out Historia was handling things better then their father had. She decided to let Historia keep the throne and just spend her days with her sisters and her niece on the family farm. Athena felt Reiner take her hand and Athena smiled up at him. He returned it.

Later that day. Everyone sat in the former courtroom that use to be in Wall Sina. Athena sat with the ambassadors. Most of the MPs and Garrison along with Scouts sat there. Primear Zachary, who returned with the ones that were brought back, sat next to Historia. Ymir was on Historia's other side. Sasha sat with Karina and Sara. Reiner sat next to Athena. None of the Jaegerists that wanted the genocide along with Floch were not brought back. There were gasps when Athena explained what happened with her and the First King and how she ended the rein of Titans and shifters. Historia and Frieda were impressed with their sister. Reiner squeezed her hand under the table. Armin did some talking and nodded to Athena. Athena stood up. Historia watched her sister.

"Queen Historia, my sister. Eren is dead. Eldians no longer can turn into Titans Peace talks have been successful with Willy Tybur and Erwin, Levi, and Hange are over spreading our story to other countries and talks of trade with our island. My friends and I sit before you allied with former Titan shifters. We have made a peace deal with Marley where we can live in peace along with trading with other countries." Athena said. Historia couldn't help but smile. They got the peace they wanted for the island even with Eren doing the Rumbling. "Reiner Braun would like to ask you a question if you would allow it." Historia nodded. Reiner stood up.

"Your highness. With your permission. I wish to marry your sister. I proposed to her during the battle for humanity." Reiner said. There were whispers in the room, but Reiner and Athena ignored them. Their friends were on their side. Historia smiled. Ymir sat smirking.

"You really don't need to ask permission, Reiner, but I'm happy you did. You got permission on one condition." Historia said. Athena and Reiner share looks.

"What would that be?" Athena asked.

"Would you two like to do a double wedding?" Historia said. Reiner sighed in relief.

"Yes, mam." Reiner said. Historia and Athena smiled.

That night. People were being settled in homes. Athena and Reiner were taken to Historia's home where the kids were happy to see her and Sara. Historia welcomed Karina in with open arms.

Reiner and Athena lay tangled in sheets, both sweaty.

"I thought your sister would be living in a castle, not a farm." Reiner said. Athena lifted herself so she was looking at Reiner.

"It's the home we grew up in. We promised each other that we would get it back and we did as soon as she became queen." Athena said. Reiner pressed his lips against hers and kissed her. She returned it. Athena planned to help Jean and Armin rebuild the Military and then retire to help her sister with Royal stuff and be with her daughter and Reiner.
