I had this idea for a long time, but I didn't know if I should write about it. It's my first fanfiction, but it will be very long, over 8 chapters. Sorry in advance for the gramatical mistakes, but english it's not my first language. Hope you will like it! 3

CHAPTER 1

It's 4 am and she couldn't sleep at all. She didn't know why, but just the fact that in less than 2 hours she has to get prepared for work didn't make her want to sleep.

Suddenly she heard someone enter in her apartment. She got out of bed and went into the kitchen to see who it was. It was Chandler. She just stayed in the door frame and watched him before she spoke. He sat down at the kitchen table with his head on his hands. She decided to go at him and ask what happened. Monica placed her arm on his back and he didn't even move like, he has known that she was there all the time.

"Hey...what's wrong?" she asked softly, almost like a whisper.

He didn't respond. He was definitely sad and she knew something was wrong.

"Chandler..what happened? Talk to me." she said as she sat down on a chair.

He finally took his head out of his hands and looked at her. Even that it was dark, she knew that he had tears in his eyes.

"She called me." he finally said, he had a shaky voice.

"Who?" I asked full of concern. "Michelle?" Michelle was his girlfriend, they have been together for almost half an year, he really loved her and she knew that. Rachel, Phoebe and the rest didn't like her, neither did Monica, but ahe couldn't say anything because Michelle was his girlfriend and had to act ok with it.

"She is cheating on me..." and that was it, he stormed out of his chair and went on the balcony.

Monica couldn't believe it. She knew that he was a bad girlfriend for Chandler, but cheating on him? That was enough. She went on the balcony too.

"What?" she asked with a normal voice now because nobody could hear them. "That's insane!"

"I know..fuck it"

He moved his hand to his backpocket and took out a pack of cigarettes. He gently took a cig out and put it in his mouth. She hated that, the fact that he is smoking made her mad, but right now, she didn't care at all, in fact she lighted one for herself. Chandler's eyes went wide when she saw her, he didn't expect that, but he was also too sad to care.

"I do it sometimes, it calms me down." "Anyway...how did she tell you?"

"She just called and told me, just like that. Like she was talking to someone she just went out a few times out."

"I'm so sorry Chandler..I don't know what to say." she took a drag while she studied him. She always thought that he was handsome, even when he was sad or really focused on something, he was really attractive. She didn't know why she felt that way about him.

"It's not like it's your fault or something. I just...feel really awful that I have spend a few month of my life by staying with someone that was sleeping with her neighbor."

"Chandler-"

"No. You guys were right about her and I just denied it all the time...that's what I do. I have awful relationships and when I finally find someone that I really see a future with, ends up cheating on me and stepping on my heart like I don't feel the pain."

His words broke her. He was really sad and disappointed. She knew that if she will ever be with him, she knew that she will never break his heart or make him feel worthless like Michelle did. She hugged him. Tight. Then she felt two strong arms surrounding her also tight. She could have stayed like that for hours, days, years. She felt safe in the arm's of her best friend. After a few minutes they broke the hug. Chandler's face has regained its brightness. His deep blue eyes were looking straight into hers and she could've feel butterflies in her stomach. She didn't know why she felt like that.

After a few seconds of silence, he finally decided to speak.

"Thank you Mon. Thank you for being here for me when I need you." he slightly smiled.

"Well...that's what friends are for, aren't they?" she smiled back.

"So...you want some coffee? Cause I don't think we are going to sleep now."

"Yeah, I would like some coffee"

And that was the moment when she realized that something will happen between them, not just a fling, a whole story.
