"A… are we sure we aren't going to lose him?" Emi asked. She was worried about the condition that Lenny was in. He was barely conscious at this point and in a lot of pain.
"I'm going to arrange to have Lenny taken to the hospital. He will live if we act quickly." The School Nurse told them. Emi sighed while looking down to the ground. Hanako and Rin seem to be in a similar condition.
"Well, if we can do anything to help him for the time being, let us know. We don't want to lose our friends." Hanako asked the School Nurse that they wanted to be helpful for Lenny.
"You can try talking to him, but I doubt he will wake up at the moment." The School Nurse told the three of them they could keep him company. He got up and decided to make the call. Emi, Hanako and Rin watched as the School Nurse left the room. Hanako and Emi walked over to Lenny who was trying his best to stir. They wanted to bring some comfort to him. Hanako began speaking first.
"First trip over the hill Lenny?" Hanako began. Lenny tried his best to get up while figuring out what to say next. They were talking about when they carried him up and over the hill.
"Y… yes." Lenny tried his best to speak. His hands were on his pounding chest as if he was trying to contain his heart from exploding from his chest.
"And next time it will be better." Emi told Lenny that the next trip over the hill will be better. Lenny wheezed as he was having a hard time breathing.
"There… isn't a next time." Lenny tried to explain to Emi that his one chance was gone, and he was going to suffer from it. Emi knew that Lenny was pessimistic about the whole trial inspection he did today.
"Hey, don't say that, Lenny. Shizune and Misha weren't fair, we'll still have you at Yamaku Academy." Emi told Lenny that he shouldn't be so negative about it. Lenny tried to speak.
"It's too late Emi…" Lenny tried to begin with that his fate had already been sealed but for Emi there was still time to correct things.
"It's never too late Lenny. Now Hanako, Rin and I need to use the bathroom. We'll be back later tonight. We'll make sure nothing happens to you." Emi told Lenny they needed to leave for the time being. They got up and left the room. Lenny closed his eyes before drifting back asleep. Sleep was going to help him a bit and he was hoping the School Nurse could bring him to the hospital.
Unknown slumber: The Last Of Us- All Gone (The Outside)
Lenny laid there in his sleep. He was all alone in the Nurse's office, and he was in too much pain to do anything. However, the door wasn't locked, and Lenny was hoping that the School Nurse will be back in a couple of minutes or the medical staff to take him to get the care he desperately needed. Creeping to the Nurse's office however was Shizune and Misha. They made their promise and they wanted Lenny to suffer the consequences. The door was left slightly open, this presented an opportunity. Signing to each other that the coast was clear, they began to make their way into the School Nurse's office. Lenny was laying there, the pulse monitor still flashing rapidly and in agony, he couldn't move. Shizune and Misha picked him up and began to carry him away. Having got what they wanted, they began to carry him out and they were going to get him as far from Yamaku as they could. They began to dash off with the prospect of pulling off.
Hanako, Emi and Rin had returned from the bathroom as they said they were only going to be gone for a couple of minutes. They noticed the door to the Nurse's office was wide open and they peeked inside. Who was able to get in there? They were thinking about it when they realized something was off. Lenny was nowhere to be seen. Emi looked around and she realized the worst thing had happened.
"Oh no. Shizune and Misha. They must have taken him. We have to catch them." Emi began. She realized what Misha was saying earlier that day. Hanako looked around as if she was ready to chase them down.
"I think I know where they're going. Come on!" Hanako told Emi. Rin had climbed onto Hanako's shoulders as she was the first to leave the Nurse's office as the chase to get Lenny was on. Emi followed behind as she was going to be running alongside Hanako and Rin. She looked at her bracelet that Lenny made for her. They definitely needed to catch them. The three of them made their way outside as they began looking around to find where they had run off to. It was clear that they had a lead, this chase was heading outside of Yamaku Academy.
Nightwish- Last Ride Of The Day
"We're coming for you GE EMD SD60's of Trainz for kidnapping Lenny!" Rin shouted. Shizune and Misha had gotten themselves a wheelbarrow and they were carrying Lenny as far as they could from the school. Emi and Hanako got some flashlights as they were now chasing the two of them down.
Emi, Hanako and Rin were following behind when they shined their flashlights to spot Shizune and Misha were carrying Lenny. Now it was their job to stop them. Emi and Hanako were pretty swift moving people so despite Shizune and Misha trying their best to run, they were catching up to them. Hanako took the lead while running with Rin, they quickly caught up to the wheelbarrow carrying Lenny. They were figuring out how to grab it. Emi ran up beside them, she needed to distract them enough to make sure they were going to let go of the wheelbarrow. They were rounding the bend while running through the park, they were heading in the direction they weren't supposed to go. Emi continued running alongside Misha while Hanako made a call to Hisao to intercept Shizune and Misha while at the same time, getting Lenny medical attention he needed.
"Hisao?" Hanako asked.
"Yeah?" Hisao asked Hanako. Hanako began to think while Rin was riding on her shoulders, encouraging Hanako to go faster and grab the wheelbarrow.
"Meet us at the Park's entrance, Shizune and Misha kidnapped Lenny and we're going to try to get them." Hanako explained. Hisao was listening while he was in the car with Akira and Lilly.
"They kidnapped Lenny?" Hisao asked. He knew they needed to come to his rescue. "We're on our way." He hung up as they knew they needed to do something.
The chase continued with Emi running alongside Misha and Shizune with Hanako and Rin trailing behind. Hanako caught up to the wheelbarrow before handing the flashlight to Rin. She knew she had to stop them. Hanako swung her arms down and her hands gripped the wheelbarrow, she managed to hang onto it for a couple of moments before she slipped and lost her grip. Hanako and Rin were now on the ground as Emi was the only person chasing them at the very moment.
What they didn't realize was that an empty coal train was going to pass through an empty section of the park that few students visit. But to Emi, that didn't matter as much as Lenny did. She continued to chase Shizune and Misha, trying to get them to let go of the wheelbarrow. Shining the flashlight, they disappeared into a tunnel and came out on the other side a few seconds later. Shizune was still trying to grip her end of the wheelbarrow while Misha's grip was slipping. She was getting tired of running as Shizune pushed onward, desperate to shake Emi off of her tail.
They continued to run through the park and into the empty section. Emi was growing exhausted, and she knew she had to stop to catch her breath. However, Emi stopped at the wrong place at the wrong time. The lights began to flash as the gates began to come down. Emi looked around as she began to freak out. She turned to her left to see a bright patch of lights coming to her. The engineers of the coal train spotted Emi standing there like a deer in the headlights and slammed on the train's emergency brakes. Sparks began flying from the wheels as they were desperate to stop. Emi, still petrified with fear, stood there as the train got closer to her. The engineers were doing everything they could to stop it while they were trying not to hit Emi. Emi lifted her head as the coal train was coming to a stop. Once it did stop. Emi looked at it, it was mere feet away from hitting her. Thank goodness they were going slow enough to be able to stop in time. Hanako and Rin ran up to Emi who was still standing on the tracks. She turned to Hanako while Rin got off her shoulders and walked up to the engine.
"They got away; we have to go after them!" Emi told Hanako. One of the engineers opened the door to the engine and looked down at Emi.
"Are you alright?" He asked. Rin was smiling as she was going to enjoy the moment.
"Trainz!" Rin smiled before she hugged the engine. Hanako then grabbed Rin and dragged her along.
"Now is not the time to hug Rin. We have to get Lenny!" Hanako tried to speak to Rin that now wasn't the time to be hugging it, not while Shizune and Misha still had their friend. The three of them dashed off while Hanako got a phone call. She got out her phone and began to see who was on the other side. "Hello?"
"Hey Hanako, we managed to intercept Shizune and Misha. We're getting ourselves going." Hisao began talking to Hanako.
"Great. Do you have Lenny?" Hanako asked Hisao.
"We do, they were trying to take him. We're going to get the care he needs. Meet us tomorrow morning…" Hisao explained to Hanako exactly what was happening. He then gave the address to Hanako.
"Okay we'll be there." Hanako replied. She then hung up while they were going to find where exactly Hisao had taken Lenny.
Hanako, Emi and Rin entered the hospital complex where Hisao had given the address to. It was a few minutes away from Yamaku Academy which was a plus. Hanako seemed to be off.
"This must be where they went." Hanako began. "I don't like it around here too much." They continued into the main gates and began to walk around inside, feeling a sense of dread.
Dread: Ender's Game- Mind Game Part 2
The three of them made their way through the waiting room entrance as they wanted to see where they were going to find Lenny. One of the nurses looked at them as they continued down the hospital. Emi, Rin and Hanako were easily able to get lost in this maze as nurses and doctors looked at them while they were pushing their patients in stretchers and wheelchairs. More were coming in from the emergency room.
They continued their little trip, passing by the infant's ward while they were trying their best to look for Lenny. Several nurses and midwives looked at them, what were they doing here? They decided to ignore them while expecting them to leave the area. Hanako was feeling a sense of anxiety, thinking one of these medical professionals was going to hurt her in some way. They continued down the hallway.
Making their way to the operating room, they thought that was where Lenny possibly was but a stretcher carrying an older woman exited the room while two surgeons followed behind. They continued their way along. Hanako was still anxious. Rin had no thoughts and Emi believed they were lost. They still made their way through.
Climbing to the second floor, they decided to look around there for their friend. Still, there was nothing except for offices where the staff got together to work, several doctors and nurses were busy handling the work while they looked with suspicion, who were these three young ladies doing here? They knew they didn't belong here and wanted them out. Continuing along the floor, Emi knew they were definitely lost for sure. The doctors and nurses looked around before one of them called to report three girls were on the second floor. Emi continued to take the lead with Rin in the middle and Hanako at the rear.
"You know where we are going?" Hanako asked, they were wandering aimlessly in this place. Lenny was nowhere to be seen.
"I have no idea; we will hopefully find him." Emi tried her best to keep their hopes up as he had to be around some place. They continued to wander as two doctors followed by a third person showed up. They were here to report who was on this floor and find out what happened. "Oh no." Emi told them.
Hanako, Rin and Emi turned and ran for their lives, the first doctor went after them while the second doctor ran up to cut them off. More doctors and nurses were there to intercept them. The three girls ran past the nurses, in a struggle to find the stairwell they came up from and use it as an escape route, The two doctors swiftly closed in on them as within moments, what began the chase, had brought it to an end. They had managed to capture Hanako, Rin and Emi. The third person among them walked over.
"I had a feeling that you came here, but we don't know why you three are here, wandering aimlessly around the hospital." One of the doctors began to speak. He was confused as to why they were on the second floor.
"Where did you take Lenny?" Emi asked one of the doctors. The third person began to speak.
"Give the girls to me, I was looking for my girlfriend and you managed to get her." Hisao began. He was telling the doctors that he would fulfill their request and get them what they wished.
"Oh. I guess that was easier done than said." The first doctor told Hisao. They then scooted out of their way as Hisao began speaking to them.
"Follow me." He told them. He turned away and began to walk off. Emi, Hanako and Rin followed while one of the doctors followed behind. They were finally going to see Lenny.
Everything seemed to be black, it was clear someone was trying to stir from their slumber.
"Am I dead?" Lenny asked. He was trying to figure out if he was a spirit.
"You're not dead Lenny." One of the people tried to tell him to wake up.
"Was Yamaku Academy a lie and I was just dreaming?" Lenny asked if everything that had happened was fake and he was still in the hospital bed.
"You're not dreaming, wake up." The voice told him. Lenny woke up. The ceiling above him was white, sterile, clean, white. The thumping of the machines was heard as it was the one thing that was making noise in the room. Then the soft sound of a music box began to play. Lenny opened his eyes as he didn't know where he was. He looked around to see that the person he was talking to was Lilly. Akira was sitting nearby. Lenny felt stiff though he was tied to the stuff that helped him through the first heart attack.
"Lilly?" Lenny asked. He seemed to be bound and still unable to move. "I thought it was all over and I wasn't going to see you again."
"You managed to make it." Lilly told Lenny. Lenny wanted to give Lilly a hug but the IV needle he had dug into his arm, reminding Lenny about his condition.
"I thought I was gone for sure." Lenny sighed. The door opened to see Hisao, Hanako, Emi, Rin and one of the doctors walk in. The door closed for a moment before it opened again to see Meiko enter the room.
"You're still all here?" Lenny asked. He felt like he was dreaming but he wasn't, this was real.
"Lenny Hirahi has suffered a second heart attack but this one was much slower acting as he has built up some resilience to it. We had to shock him with a defibrillator to get his heart pumping again when it seemed all hope was lost. We managed to restore his heartbeat." The doctor explained what happened to Lenny. He turned and recognized him. "I haven't seen you in almost a month and… you've made friends?" He was surprised to see Lenny had people that cared for him. Meiko walked forward to greet the doctor.
"I'm Meiko Ibarazaki." She began. "I have custody over him, and I came over when I learned about this. This is my daughter Emi, the girl who has helped his heart out."
"How so?" The doctor asked Meiko.
"Track. She was also there. And they're dating." Meiko explained what Emi did to help him out.
"So, Lenny found himself some love?" The doctor asked.
"Yes, he did. I think Yamaku Academy had the affects you were hoping for." The doctor began. Lenny tried his best to look at the pulse monitor, but his arms were too tired to do anything. "And based on this second heart attack, you will be going home tomorrow as it wasn't as severe as the first one."
"That's great. I kind of wanted to make Lenny feel at home inside of my house." Meiko told the doctor. "He lost his father all of those months ago and now he lost his mother as well. That's where the second heart attack must've come from."
"Can I speak to you Mrs. Ibarazaki?" The doctor asked.
"Sure thing." Meiko replied. She and the doctor were the first to leave the room. Everyone else then left except for Emi who stayed behind with Lenny. Once everyone had left. Emi then walked over to Lenny; the pulse monitor was flashing normally but Lenny felt like his body had been paralyzed.
"Lenny?" Emi began. Emi's control over her composure is for naught though, and she finally rushes over to where Lenny lies as the last of her resistance falls. Emi quickly wrapped her arms around Lenny.
Lenny was slightly shaken as Emi grabbed hold of him. Emi was hunched over as tears began streaming down her cheeks like a river going over a waterfall. Lenny thought after he told Emi that it was too late, he would have been on the other side of the world. After a minute or so, Lenny rested one of his hands on Emi.
"It's okay Emi. I'm here. You don't need to…" Lenny told Emi. Emi's tears were blotting the sheets while she was happy the one person that mattered to her was still there for her.
"Stop telling me not to worry about you, Lenny! Just this once... let me cry..." Emi told Lenny while she was hanging onto him. Lenny was caught speechless. She waits for a response, but her composure breaks again after a handful of seconds. Lenny swallows hard to try and settle his own emotions while she weeps onto his bed, a strange mixture of relief and depression welling up. Emi's... here. She's really here. If Lenny couldn't feel her skin under his hand, He'd hardly believe his own eyes. His efforts weren't for nothing; his body's attempt to take away everything that was important to Lenny once again has been foiled. But now... Lenny doesn't feel as happy about it as he thought he would. Seeing her here, crying like this over him... this is the one thing he'd wanted to avoid since coming to love her, no, even since leaving the hospital for the first time.
"I'm sorry, Emi. It's my fault I'm here; I shouldn't have tried to push myself so far." Lenny tried his best to apologize to Emi that he had pushed himself too hard at the trial inspection. "After months of keeping myself together so nobody would worry over me, I went and did something like this. I guess I'm pretty dumb." Emi stopped crying for a moment as she realized Lenny wasn't at fault.
"No Lenny, I'm sorry." Emi began. "This is really my fault. I should have done more to make sure you were okay. I shouldn't have kicked you out of my own house. Look what I have gotten you into and I'm going to get you out." Emi went back to her crying state as she wanted to be the one to apologize for everything she had done.
"Hopefully I can go into your arms tomorrow, I enjoyed our morning runs and being with our friends. I don't know what I will do without them." Lenny told Emi that he will be getting out of the hospital tomorrow morning and heading back to Yamaku Academy. Emi looked at Lenny as her cheeks were red and weathered where the tears were. Her eyes were watery as Lenny tried his best to wipe the tears away from her eyes. Emi looked at him and began to speak again.
"I hope so too." She replied while she began to smile again. Lenny tried to smile but the IV needle dug into him again, he winced at the harsh tether to his condition. Emi began speaking again.
"I knew you were the person who I wanted to love. You're such a sweet person and even though I pushed many people away as I didn't want them to get close to me, I was willing to let you come close to me." Emi explained to Lenny why she had grown so attached to him. "I ran after you last night because I love you." Emi finally admitted her feelings for Lenny. Lenny didn't know what to say next. He blushed at the notion, someone finally admitting their love for him. Lenny wanted Emi to cuddle with him on the hospital stretcher like what they did back in their beds.
"You do?" Lenny asked. He hugged Emi as best as he could while trying to figure out what she needed.
"I do. And if we leave tomorrow, I want to take you somewhere special. Though I wish to stay with you." Emi admitted her feelings for him. Lenny nodded as Lilly came back into the room to find Emi hunched over on the bed while admitting her feelings for Lenny.
"Love bugs, are we?" Lilly began. She walked over and sat down in the chair to see how they were getting along.
"We are at this point, thank you for asking." Lenny told Lilly. Lilly smiled before she closed her music box. She closed her eyes and sat in a chair next to Lenny.
"Hisao has invited someone over that wants to talk to you." Lilly told him. The door opened and who stepped into the room was Iwanako. She walked over to Lenny, and she began to speak to him.
"Lenny?" Iwanako asked. "Are you still getting over the first heart attack?" Iwanako was confused by what had happened and she wanted to figure out what exactly had happened.
"Long story." Lenny huffed. "I was sent to Yamaku Academy, the same school as Hisao and I managed to find someone that cared for me, and I've lost my mother as well." Lenny explained to Iwanako what exactly happened.
"I'm so sorry that your mother is gone too. Did anyone take you in?" Iwanako asked if Lenny managed to find somewhere to live and get some support from.
"My mother has taken him in." Emi told Iwanako about what exactly was going on.
"Good for her. I received a letter from Hisao asking if we were friends. And to answer his question, yes. Yes, we are. I haven't seen you ever since the first heart attack." Iwanako felt down about it.
"Don't feel ashamed. You're still my friend even after everything that has happened to me." Lenny explained to Iwanako that she shouldn't be ashamed for not visiting him.
"We can all go out one day during the summer." Lilly added. She walked over and took Lenny's Phone and began adding something.
"Keep in touch with me and well… goodbye Lenny." Iwanako got up and she knew she needed to talk to Hisao next. Iwanako gave Lenny her phone number. Emi knew he was making friends even if the old ones were trying to come back to him. Emi looked back at Lenny.
"Well… we should see Meiko tomorrow." Emi told Lenny, she opened up his vest to reveal two black marks on his chest, that was where they shocked him.
Both of them had some final respects they needed to pay.
[A/N]: So, the best part of this fanfic is complete and it's just going to be wrapping up a few extra scenes here and there. It's all just downhill after here. I was probably just so excited to make this even though life was getting in the way. I will see you later.
