AN: I haven't updated this in forever! But I'm trying to go back and complete all my unfinished fics on here before I commit to writing something new. Hope this is at least half decent. Please R&R, constructive criticism would be awesome

Chapter 4 – Tuesday Morning
Scully woke up to rain pattering loudly against the window. She groaned gently as she slowly eased herself into a seated position. After a brief glance around the room she realised she had fallen asleep on Mulder's couch, which was probably the reason why her neck was so sore. Massaging her neck gently with her fingers she headed over to the kitchen, retrieved a glass and poured herself some orange juice. She headed back over to the couch sipping it slowly. She rubbed her eyes as she glanced at her watch which read 7.30am. This was the second morning in a row where she did not have work but had woken up early. She debated lying down on the sofa and going back to sleep but as her neck twinged painfully again she decided that this was not an option.
'I could go home and sleep for another few hours and call Mulder when I wake up.' Scully thought to herself as she resumed massaging her neck again, but shook her head when she realised she did not have her car.
"Morning Sunshine." Mulder commented from behind her.
Scully turned round as fast as her neck would allow her. "Oh. I didn't wake you did I?" She asked softly.
"Nah, just used to waking up early I guess." He grinned as her strode over to sit next to her on the sofa.
"Me too." She agreed.
"Sofa didn't treat you well last night." Mulder commented, as he observed her rubbing her neck.
She frowned. "I think I slept at a funny angle that's all. I'll take some painkillers and I'll be fine." She assured him.
Mulder got up and sat on the sofa right behind her, his legs on either side of her body.
"Mulder, what are you doing?" She enquired cautiously; a little unsure as to why they were currently in this position. She was usually comfortable being in such close proximity to her partner, but after their actions the previous day it was clear their relationship was approaching new territory. Scully felt they really needed to have a proper talk about where their relationship could potentially be headed. "Mulder?!" She questioned again; sounding slightly impatient.
"Trust me." He whispered softly into her ear, his warm breath tickling her skin.
Scully shivered nervously as his warm hands began to massage her neck gently. "How's that?" He questioned.
"Good." She admitted. "A little harder, please." She regretted her last sentence the minute the words left her mouth. She expected her partner to snigger at the innuendo of her perfectly innocent comment.
Instead, Mulder increased the pressure he was applying to her neck, moving his thumbs in even, circular motions across her skin.
"Oh, right there. I can feel the knots in your muscles." He told her.
"Mulder?"
"Scully?"
"Don't ever let me fall asleep on your sofa again." She murmured as she leant back into his body.
Mulder chuckled. "I promise." He confirmed.
"Mulder?"
"Scully?"
"We need to talk." She sighed.
Mulder chuckled. "Is that a bad thing?" He questioned. "You sound so serious."
"Well, maybe you're not being serious enough." She suggested with a raised eyebrow.
"Scully when it comes to you I'm always serious. You know I care about you. I care about you a lot." He told her gently.
"See that's what I mean!" She whirled round and instantly regretted it as she clutched her neck again.
"What?!" Mulder questioned, slightly bemused.
"You care about me; you care about me a lot." Scully retorted. "But in what way do you care about me?!"
"Well I…" Mulder began before being cut off by Scully, who had stood up, pacing around the room and still clutching her neck.
"Do you care about me as a friend? A best friend? Do you care about me as you would care for a sister? Or do you care about me as a lover?" She burst out. "I literally do not know where we stand Mulder, and I feel like we're always playing these silly, childish flirty games. But really we just need to come out and say it."
"Whoa! Scully where did that come from? It's not like you to have huge outburst like that." He commented casually, while desperately trying to string a sentence together to evoke how much he cared about her.
"Mulder." She sighed "Just tell me how you feel. All this back and forth, will they won't they that's going on between us. I need to know where we stand." She pleaded, coming to a halt in front of him, her big blue eyes gazing into his.
Mulder, still struggling to come up with the right words, stood up beside Scully and said "Oh, to hell with it." He grabbed her waist, pulled her towards him and his lips crashed down on hers.
Scully gasped. The last thing she had been expecting in response had been for Mulder to kiss her. But now, she felt it. The spark was most definitely there! She closed her eyes, wrapped one arm around Mulder's waist and threw the other around his neck, pulling her as close as possible to his firm, muscular body. Mulder held her tightly, tangling his other hand in her soft red hair, gasping as Scully slipped her tongue into his mouth. Gasping for air, they eventually broke apart.
"Satisfied?!" Mulder questioned cockily, with his usual charming grin plastered on his face.
"Very." Scully confirmed, briefly smiling back, before pulling Mulder towards her for another long and passionate kiss.
