Hello loves, I know a lot of you were surprised by the two-year jump last chapter. I forgot to warn you about it. This Drabble has always meant to be a quick summer burst sorta drabble, so, unfortunately, this is the end! Thank you all for coming along on this ride with me!

5:13 p.m.
I'm utterly exhausted when I get home. The showdown with Bella's father took me by surprise, though I'd been expecting some form of it for the past two years. Bella hadn't told her dad about us, and we'd stayed away from any precincts together, just in case.
But we knew we couldn't keep it from him forever.
"Babe?"
I hear shuffling coming from our spare bedroom where Bella's desk is set up.
"Hey!" she calls. I drop my stuff by the door and head in that direction. She's at the desk, typing furiously at her computer. I know she's got finals coming up, so I've been trying my hardest not to distract her.
"Hey," I say, leaning against the doorframe. She looks up at me.
"How was work?" she asks, tugging her glasses off. I let out a breath.
"I got a particularly angry visit from my boss's boss's boss."
Bella snaps her laptop shut, immediately standing. "Oh god, what happened? He didn't fire you, did he? I'll end him if he did. You're an amazing cop."
I reach out to her, my hands landing on her hips.
"Babe, breathe," I say gently. She lets me guide her until she's right in front of me, and my hands slip around her. Her arms come up around my waist, squeezing gently. "It went better than I expected," I tell her honestly. "He's not thrilled, but I don't think I'm fired either."
Bella lets out a tense breath.
"Good."
I rub her back. "I'm going to start some dinner. Are you in a place to take a break? I can tell you about it while I cook."
Bella nods.
"Yeah, I'll help you."
We head to the kitchen, and Bella starts pulling things out of the fridge while I root around for the right pans. I tell her about the talk with her dad while we make dinner. She's visibly upset before becoming pensive. I know the topic of her father is hard for her to deal with emotionally, so I don't push anything, just tell her what happened.
When I'm done, we put the finishing touches on dinner before moving to the small dining table tucked into the corner of our living room.
Bella tells me about her day while we eat, and slowly, the heaviness of thinking of her father leaves her shoulders.
"Oh, and I finally got around to doing some shopping with Alice for Fiji," Bella says, her eyes sparkling with her amusement. For her graduation, we decided to head to Fiji for vacation. We've both been counting down the days until we are beach-bound.
"Oh yeah?" I ask. She's been buying the skimpiest bathing suits she can find, not that I'm complaining. I'm dying to see them on her. I'm planning on taking advantage of our private strip of beach that we rented. Sex on the beach sounds mostly messy, but we're both willing to give it our best shot.
After dinner dishes are cleaned up and the food is put away, Bella and I curl up on the sofa, the TV gently playing in the background as we continue talking.
It's such an ordinary night for us, but for some reason, it feels different. Maybe it's because now her dad knows about us, or maybe it's just fucking timing, but all of a sudden, I know I'm ready.
I'd been saving the ring for Fiji. I wanted to get down on one knee in white sand beaches with the sound of waves lapping against the shore as our music. I wanted candles and romance and adventure because that's who we are.
But we are also these people, content on the sofa after dinner, wrapped up together in a cocoon of love and support for one another.
"Bella," I say, my voice working before my brain has a chance to slow anything down. She looks up at me, her eyes wide and full of so much love, it makes my chest almost hurt. "I love you."
She smiles, leaning up to press a kiss to my lips.
"I love you too," she murmurs. One of my hands comes up to cup her cheek, my other hand takes hers in mine.
"I want to marry you." The words tumble out of me too fast to stop. Bella's eyes widen. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You make me a better person. You are kind and intelligent, and remarkably patient and I want whatever sort of forever I get in this world to be spent loving you."
Her eyes are filling with tears, and I shift us, reaching into my pocket to pull the ring out. I'd been carrying it around everywhere with me for the last two weeks, planning on proposing in Fiji, but wanting to be ready in case something else came up. I crack open the small velvet box, and I hear her breath hitch.
"Edward," she says slowly, eyes lifting to mine. "I love you so much. I didn't know I could love anyone like this." She reaches up and wipes the tears from her cheeks. "I like the sound of your forever." She takes a breath. "Yes, I'll marry you."
It feels like the world falls right out from under me. I bring her closer to me, hauling her up my body so she's spread out on top of me. Her lips come down to meet mine as we wrap our arms around each other. When we break apart, I manage to get the ring out of the box and slip it onto her left ring finger.
The last two years have had their ups and downs, and I know that the years to come will as well, but with Bella by my side, I think I'm in for the ride of my life.
The End!
Thank you all for coming along on this fun little drabble with me. I hope you enjoyed the ride!
