What was the point of living?
Yes, that was the question I was asking myself, over and over again. The girl of my dreams that I just confessed my love to tossed me over the edge of a balcony like used up trash just moments ago.
Vaguely, I was aware of falling, and screaming. A lot of screaming. I don't know if it was my own, or perhaps Storms or Hermiones? I couldn't tell, I just felt numb. Maybe it was from the cold? Maybe it was the fact that my brain was so fried that it wasn't registering stuff as simple as my surroundings?
I think I hit the ground, and heard something crack. Pain didn't register. In fact, it was practically painless. I laid on the ground, not dead, but terribly broken, staring up at the clouds as snow fell.
The world became fuzzy as I saw Wynter disappear into a black portal.

We all felt it.
Despair is a horrid emotion. Especially when it's your friends despair. Especially when you have to watch your other friends experience it too. Aqua was flat out sobbing on Dashs shoulder. He said nothing as he stared grimly ahead, his own tears threatening to fall.
Flare punched the wall, small tears dripping down her face. Carter had the same reaction as Flare, with a few curse words thrown in. Forrest stared up at the branches of the Tree of Life, as if expecting it to give him answers.
Dawn was a complete emotional wreck, crying so hard that I was sure someone would hear. I guess it was the fact that she was the Psychic Angel, and was most in tune with emotions. Dusk pulled her into a hug, something that he surely would've been teased about if everyone else wasn't feeling the same way. He stared grimly ahead, and I noted that it was the first time I had not seen him scowling or glaring.
I was hit hard. It seriously felt like my best friend went into a coma, woke up, and died a few days later. It was almost as bad as finding out my Dad disappeared. I found my legs stopped working, and I just sat down, curling into a ball and crying until I felt numb.
"Who?" Aqua asked, lifting her head from Dashs' shoulder. "Who are we feeling?" I looked up at Dawn, still in Dusks arms. The looked he gave me obviously said not to talk to her right now, and I heeded his advice.
"I don't know." I said. "I feel like my best friend died twice."
"I feel like a failure." Flare said, leaning against the wall.
"I second that." Carter said, raising his hand.
"Despair." Dash stated simply. Aqua nodded in agreement.
"I feel dead on the inside." Forrest muttered. "Like my heart was ripped apart and burned to ashes." Dusk said nothing, refusing to share his opinion.
"It's Surge." Dawn said, lifting her head up. "We all felt Surge."
"What about Wynter?" I asked. Dawn looked down, eyes shaded, shoulders shaking slightly.
"Wynter-Wynter is-she's..." she swallowed. "Wynter is gone. She's been replaced by someone name Kylma."
"Kylma?" Carters head snapped up at this. He slid his hand down his face, stopping at his mouth, glaring at the ground.
"Carter, do you recognize that name?" Dusk asked.
"No." Carter said. For some reason, an unquenchable fury welled up inside me. Carter knew something that we didn't, possibly enough to know what happened to Wynter.
"Carter, tell us!" I demanded, walking towards him in quick strides. "Whatever you're hiding may help us find out what happened to Wynter and Surge!"
"I don't know anything." Carter said, avoiding my eyes. That's when I raised my hand, and clear smacked him across the face. The sound echoed throughout the room as his head snapped to the side, and everyone stared, silent.
"Get it into your thick head! Dawn just lost connection with Wynter! Do you get that?! The Psychic Angel lost connection! We don't know what's wrong, who Kylma is, and what's happening to them!" My hand, still poised in the air from slapping him slowly fell to my side. "You're a prideful person, Carter, I know that. Whatever you're hiding will probably hurt it, but what the hell is pride worth if it's getting in the way of everyone else?! What will pride do to connect us to Wynter again?! What will pride do to stop Devlin and Team Hellion?! What will pride do to earn your Warrior Form?!" I knew I hit nerve there, for Carters head whipped in my direction so fast, I'm surprised his neck didn't crack.
"Nothing!" he shouted. "My pride isn't going to do anything to help our problems! I know that! But that doesn't mean I'm going to go blabbing everything I know out to all of you!" he looked down, eyes burning with fury. "None of you would understand."
"Bullshit." I spat. I reached out and grabbed his shoulders, shaking him. "How could we not understand?! We've been experimented on, but we got experimented on together. We've been locked in cages, but we were locked in cages together. We've gone through some ups and downs, but we went through it together. We've flown, fought, and went through freaking hell. But we flew, fought, and went through hell, literally, together. How could any of us not under-fucking-stand?!"
Everyone was staring now, and somewhere it registered that I've never spoken in such a way in front of my friends, let alone to one of them. Carter blinked, and we stared into each others eyes for a moment, rage in my own eyes and conflict in his. Slowly, he sighed, and wriggled out of my grip. He turned away from us, and I noted his shoulders shaking. Did I make him cry?
"Carter..." Dash was the first to speak, but cut off as Carter held his hand up. He turned, grabbed my hand, and dragged me out the door.
"C-Carter!" I whispered as we passed by the terrible trio. Keith whistled, and gave Carter a thumbs up. Kellyn rolled his eyes.
"I knew they'd make a perfect couple! Just like I predicted with Dawn and Dusk and Wynter and Surge~!" Kate sang. Wait, Wynter and Surge are a couple? When did that happen?
"Carter, they're staring!" I hissed towards him. He ignored me, and continued to drag me until we got to our room. We went inside, and I stood awkwardly as he shut the door and locked it.
"I don't want anyone else to barge in." he explained as he sat down on his bed, holding his face in his hands. I glanced around, and sat across from him.
"Carter, I'm sorry." I muttered. He let out a pained laugh.
"Why are you sorry?" one hand dropped to his lap, the other still covering his eyes.
"I was pretty harsh back there. I'm sorry for that."
"You have nothing to be sorry for." he said. "I need to tell you something."
"What?" I responded.
"I need to tell you why I live with my grandparents. And why I know the name Kylma." my throat went dry, and I gave him a stiff nod.
"Continue."
"My father murdered my mom." my eyes widened. "And Devlin is my older brother." my mouth dropped open.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, lets backtrack!" I exclaimed. "If it's not to painful, that is." he waved his hand in front of his face.
"I need to tell someone. And I don't need people pitying me. I only want you to know." I nodded, and he continued. "See, Devlin isn't my biological brother. Only me. I got the gene from my moms side of the family. She always told the stories about how I was a great descendant of the Angel of Change. When I was about two I remember waking up to my parents arguing about something. My mom was going insane, saying she wouldn't let my dad reactivate the gene. She kept him in line for about a year, and when I was three, dad brought home Devlin. 'Cept, his name wasn't Devlin, it was Gabriel." my breath hitched in my throat, and he looked up at me.
"Gabriel, Tori said a guy that looked like Devlin saved her from death, but introduced himself as 'Gabriel'." I explained. He raised an eyebrow, but said nothing.
"Anyways, the minute my dad brought him home, mom knew something was wrong, but she said nothing. When I was four, I remember that she pulled off his shirt, and saw the wings, and they were Angel wings, not Demon wings." he looked down, crying. "And then my dad came in, and grabbed a knife. Then he-he..." I reached out, and grabbed his hand. I shook my head, telling him not to continue. "Anyways, he kidnapped us, and you know the rest. My dad took Gabriel as the only survivor. That was the last time I saw him as 'Gabriel'." he shook his head, squeezing my hand tighter. "I'm not sure what happened to turn him into a Demon, or why he's infatuated with you."
"Do you think he's fighting back? Tori said she was talking to Gabriel."
"Yeah, but this is Tori we're talking about. Besides, she just came back from dying. That's got to mess with you psychologically."
"I guess... But what about 'Kylma'?"
"That's the Angel of Ices' counterpart, otherwise known as the 'Demon of Ice'."
"So... do we all have Demon counterparts?" I asked, biting my lip nervously.
"Yes. Meryle, Demon of Fire, Ebony, Demon of Psychics, Selene, Demon of Moonlight, Melanie, Demon of Water, Senko, Demon of Shadows, Kage, Demon of Nature, Orphée, Demon of Speed, Kieran, Demon of Change, and Daimon, Demon of Lightening."
"So," I gulped. "All this Demons Blood in us, it's meant to bring out our counterparts? What does that mean?"
"It seems that something pushed Wynter over the edge."
"Can we change her back?" I asked. "I mean, evil Ice Demon or not, she's still Wynter, right?"
"I don't know. I thought Devlin was to far gone to go back to Gabriel, but he's apparently switching back and forth like we are." Our conversation was suddenly cut short by a frantic knocking on the door. Carter blinked, and unlocked it, opening it wide to see a panicked Dash.
"No idea if I'm interrupting anything important, but we've got some big news." he said in a hurry.
"What is it, Dash?" I asked, coming up behind Carter.
"They found Surge." I let out a sigh of relief. "But he's in a hospital helicopter!"
"What?" Carter asked. Dash responded by gesturing out the door. We rushed down the escalators, ignoring the signs that clearly stated 'Do not walk, run, or jog up or down the escalators'. We burst through the front doors, seeing the others standing, shielding their arms from the dust blowing around from the helicopter blades.
"Okay, gentle now!" a doctor said as they rolled a gurney out the door. I felt the color drain from my face as I saw the condition of Surges' state. His lips were blue, as well as the tips of his fingers. He was unconscious, with steady streams of blood soaking through bandages around his limbs.
"Oh my Arceus..." I gasped behind my hand, watching with fretful eyes as they rolled him into the Union. Carter grabbed at my other hand, squeezing it reassuringly. We rushed back inside, following the doctors as they rolled him to the hospital wing. Please don't let them have to give blood, please let him be okay without revealing our secret.
"I'll take care of it," Isaac said, stepping in with a couple nurses behind him. He turned towards the eight of us, his eyes saying one thing: I know. He waved us inside as the nurses began hooking him up to countless monitors and machinery. "You may leave." he said to the nurses, who obeyed him without a word.
Once the door shut, Dusk was first to react. He rushed forward, grabbing the boy-genius by the collar of his shirt.
"How do you know?" growled the Angel of Shadows.
"Surge and Wynter told me." Isaac stated, surprisingly calm considering he was practically off the ground.
"Why did you take our blood?"
"Surge and Wynter wanted to know what was causing the blackouts."
"What else do you know?"
"That you have some sort of virus spreading through your body, which is what I think is causing the blackouts, and I know that you all have some super-natural ability of some sort."
"Dusk let him go." Dawn said, pulling at his arm. Surprisingly, Dusk complied, turning abruptly on his heel and leaning against the wall.
"Um, since he knows, can I...?" I trailed off, glancing at everyone else. No one protested, so I took it as a yes. I placed my hands over the Surges' chest, and let the silver energy of moonlight drift through my veins. My hair lifted off my shoulders as silver tendrils went towards Surges injuries. I imagined his wounds closing up, his fingers back to his normal skintone, and him waking up. Surprisingly, something was blocking me from waking him up, so I pushed harder.
"What the hell...?" I wondered as I got dizzy. "Wake up!"
"Eleanor!" someone caught me by my arms, and I wondered why. Did I faint?
"Is she okay?" that was Aqua, but why couldn't I lift my eyelids? They felt so heavy...
"(She overused her energy, trying to get Surge to wake up.)" that was Prince...
"(It seems he put himself into some sort of stress coma...)" I heard Cala mutter. A stress coma? Surge, the most carefree guy I know, in a stress coma...?
