I adopted this plot bunny a year or so ago. It really intrigued me. I posted a poll in my group asking which story I should work on next, and this was the winner. It's definitely a WIP. I've only got a rough outline figured out and I'm going back to my roots with this … writing with a vague plan. I hope that I can do this justice.

None of this is mine … I wish it was. Sigh …

We have their wedding, award season for the movie and a glimpse into their future … including Seth (which may be an out-take, we'll see).

Before I send you on your merry way for this epilogue, thank you to everyone who followed me on this journey. It started as a plot bunny, adopted several years ago, and became this. I truly appreciate each review, kind word and unending support for this story. I'm also so grateful for my amazing banner-maker, manip-queen, Clo (HeartForTwilight). With her graphic design talents, she created both story banners for this story.

And now … onto the epi!

Chapter Thirty-Eight: Epilogue

Bella

The movie, my movie, was met with rousing, amazing reviews and was a hit with both the critics and audiences alike. I was shocked, to say the least. With each interview, each review, and each comment posted online and shared in print media, I felt the tension leave my body, leaving me a boneless heap. After two weeks of promoting the movie, we flew back to San Francisco and decompressed as a family, holing in our new home, and sleeping off the jetlag.

In between much needed naps and bonding as new family, we also started working on planning our wedding. Well, planning and executing said plan.

You'd be shocked how much money talked.

We had everything set up for our August thirteenth nuptials. Caius paid for the venue, the Wandering Tree Estate in Lake Tahoe and was planning on paying for my dress, jewelry, and cake for the reception. Carlisle and Esme were paying for the catering, flowers, and photos. I wanted to help, but my family was covering it all.

The weekend after we'd returned from our whirlwind promotional tour, I was working in the backyard on mapping out my next book series. I was relishing in the quiet as Edward and Seth were out grocery shopping and running errands. Bear was curled up in the shade as I surfed the web, finding photo inspiration for my newest book. Bear's head popped up, woofing quietly. I shielded my eyes, smiling when I saw Caius walking toward me. We'd given him a key since he was considered family. "Hey, Caius. Long time, no see."

"Well, you were traveling the globe," Caius teased, sitting down across from me. He gave Bear a pet before he pushed his sunglasses onto his bald head. "Have you recovered from your jetlag?"

"For the most part," I answered. "What brings you here?"

"Two things," Caius said. "One, I wanted to see my adoptive daughter. It's been far too long, sweetheart. And two, to take you wedding dress shopping."

"Caius …" I argued. "The dress I wore for the movie premiere was a wedding gown. I can wear that."

"Oh, hell no," Caius grumped. "Edward saw you in that. While it was absolutely beautiful, you deserve a beautiful, one-of-a-kind dress. Since, I'm spending most of next week in court, I want to take you out today. I tried to coordinate with Esme to come with us, but she had some emergency down in Los Angeles."

"Is everything alright?" I asked, closing my laptop.

"Some model broke out in hives or something, begging Esme to support her or whatever," Caius snickered, waving his hand dismissively. "I have Esme's phone number if you find something. We can video call her."

"Let me send Edward a quick text to let him know that we're going out. I need to change. I'm not really dressed for wedding dress shopping," I deadpanned, gesturing to my yoga pants and oversized shirt I'd pilfered from Edward's side of the closet. "Give me a few?"

"Of course," Caius answered, picking up a slimy tennis ball and waved it in front of Bear. My dog hopped up, his butt wriggling. Caius threw the ball and Bear took off like a shot, chasing the ball and barking happily. I giggled, darting upstairs to change. I put on a pretty summer dress that I'd gotten with Rose, along with a pair of sandals. I sent a brief message to Edward, explaining that I was going out with Caius and would be back for dinner. Edward sent his love, along with a goofy selfie with Seth. I smiled, saving the picture to my phone and went back downstairs. Caius brought in Bear and was filling up the water bowl. "I gave the furball some treats - the green toothbrushy things."

"Thanks," I laughed. "Bear has some major doggy breath. No matter how many times we brush his teeth, his breath is awful." Picking up my purse, I ruffled Bears ears. "I'm ready to go."

We got into Caius's car, and he drove us to a fancy bridal salon in downtown San Francisco. Walking inside, we were greeted by a friendly consultant, Abby. We sat down and drank champagne while we talked about my wedding. Even though it was going to a smaller affair, my celebrity, along with Edward's fame, made the wedding a bigger deal than I'd ever anticipated. With that being said, the consultant seemed to smell a hefty sale since the turnaround to pick up the dress was about a month.

"What are thinking for as a shape?" asked the consultant, Abby. I looked at her blankly. Abby chuckled, asking, "Designer?"

"Who was the designer who did your dress for the premiere?" Caius questioned.

"Reem something?" I replied.

"Oh, Reem Acra. Such beautiful designs," Abby gushed. "Let me pull some of the most popular wedding dresses and ones that might fit your tiny frame."

"Nothing strapless," I said. "I have some injuries, scars on my back. I don't want them on display."

"What about thick straps? Or lace on the back?" Abby asked.

"Both sound really pretty," I smiled. "I'd like that."

"Okay," Abby replied. "Let's get you into a dressing room. There's a silk robe in there for you. Just let me know if you want more champagne."

I followed her to dressing rooms. She pointed out the robe and explained she'd be back in a few moments with dresses. I was also given a fresh glass of champagne and a pair of heels since I was in a pair of flat sandals. Abby returned a few moments later with several white dresses. There were two that I eliminated right away. I knew I didn't want a white, poufy princess dress. We were getting married outside and mounds of tulle wouldn't work for our simple, outdoor wedding.

The first dress I tried on; it was very similar to the dress I wore to the premiere. I walked out to the pedestal and Caius said I was beautiful, but with the long sleeves, might be too warm for the wedding. I agreed and went to put on another dress, which was another bust. The third gown seemed to be made for me, skimming down my frame and accentuating my curves all while hiding my flaws. It was slightly poufy, but if I didn't wear a full slip, it would slim down the fullness of the skirt.

Walking out to the pedestal, I stepped up and looked at my reflection. A quiet sob escaped my lips as I stared at myself. I was no longer the skeletal, broken, shattered girl, running from her past. I was finally happy, healthy and home. Caius stepped behind me and put a bouquet of flowers in my hands. "This is what I'm talking about, Bella," he murmured. "You look exquisite. Edward will … he's going to cry like a baby." He slid his arm around my shoulders, turning me to face him. He wiped my tears away. "You deserve all the happiness in the world, Bella. No more fear and sadness. Just happiness and light."

"I don't know what I would have done without you and without my found family," I whispered. "Thank you for …"

"Loving you?" he said, kissing my forehead. "You are the daughter of my heart. You and Seth have brought me so much joy. The ties that bind are deeper than blood."

"I love you, Caius. I think … my father sent you to me," I sniffled.

"Just like my wife sent you to me," Caius said, wiping an errant tear off my cheek. He kissed my forehead, turning me back to the mirror. "Is this your dress, sweetheart?"

"I think so. I feel beautiful in this dress," I murmured.

"Then, we'll take it," Caius announced, looking back at Abby. "Obviously, the turnaround will have to be quick. The wedding is six weeks away."

"Of course," Abby nodded. "There will be a charge for expedited delivery …"

Caius handed over his credit card with an arched brow. "Nothing but the best for my girl. Make it happen, Abby."

The weeks went by quickly and before we knew it, we were arriving at Lake Tahoe for our wedding. We didn't have any of the traditional wedding goings-on. We had everything we needed for our home, so we didn't have a wedding shower. Edward and I were adamant on not having bachelor/bachelorette party. The only things we wanted were a rehearsal dinner and the wedding.

Simple, easy, elegant, and perfectly us.

The morning of the rehearsal, Carlisle and Caius took all of the guys, the boys included, to go golfing. Rose and Esme were organizing a wine-tasting at a nearby vineyard, followed by spa treatments at the wedding venue. I was curling my hair when I heard a knock on the door. "It's open," I called out.

Alice slipped inside, wearing a pretty, summery dress. "Wow, I love your suite. My brother went all out," she sang.

"He's determined to spoil me and Seth," I snickered, clipping my hair up. "But, we spoil him, in our own way."

"You spoil him by loving him," Alice shrugged. "My brother, he was closed off to everyone before he met you. I'm so sorry that I … couldn't look past my own prejudice to see how happy you made my brother."

"I've forgiven you, Alice," I murmured, standing up and picking up my purse. "It'll be some time before I trust you, but I forgive you."

"I have no one to blame for that but myself," Alice said, frowning deeply. She looked at me. "I wish I could go back in time."

"You're not the only one," I snorted humorlessly. "The one thing I wouldn't change is meeting Edward. I wished that he could be Seth's biological father, but reality …" I opened the door, gesturing for her to leave. After I closed the door, I took her wrist. She jumped. "Alice, I said it will take time before I trust you, but the possibility is there. You hurt me. You hurt my family. With your accusations and lies, it hurt us tremendously and … fractured my very fragile psyche. You knew what I survived and yet, you still wouldn't let it go." I released her wrist. "I don't want to focus on that. This weekend is about love and happiness, not the past. That chapter in my life has closed. A new chapter, a new story has begun and that begins with this wedding."

"You're right," Alice nodded. "I'm sorry. I also wanted to apologize again …" I arched a brow. "You're almost as bad as Edward with the looks. Am I that transparent?"

"When it comes to Jasper, yes," I snorted. "He's happy with Chloe. They're talking about moving in together. Besides, I thought you were dating some guy from your firm."

"It didn't work out," she sighed. "Besides, he was from London and recently returned to England shortly after we ended things."

"You'll find someone, when the time is right," I suggested, smiling when I saw the gaggle women in the lobby of the resort we'd rented out for the weekend. "Let's drink some wine and have some fun, okay?"

Alice nodded, walking with me to the lobby. I was enveloped by Rose, pulling me away from Edward's sister. Rose still didn't care for her and probably never would. My adoptive sister held a hell of a grudge. We got onto a waiting limo bus, and we drove to a nearby vineyard, Pleasant Valley Wine Company.

We were treated to a private tour and a tasting of their most popular wines, along with some other goodies, various meats, cheeses, and crusty bread.

Esme stood up, clinking her glass. "I don't know about all of you, but this was the best way to spend the day. Drinking delicious wine, sharing food, and laughing with friends and family," she said warmly. She blinked to me, smiling at me. "Today, we celebrate my future daughter-in-law. My son is so lucky and blessed to have you in his life. We welcome you into our family. With much love and happiness for the future. Raise a glass for Bella, Edward, and Seth."

"To my new sister," Alice added.

"To found family," Rose breathed.

"To love, happiness, family and the future," I smiled, clinking my glass with Esme's. She sat back down, hugging me as we took a hefty sip. The servers came out with carts of presents. My eyes widened, looking at my future mother-in-law. "Esme …"

"This is not me," Esme snickered, pointing to Rose.

"You didn't want a bridal shower or a bachelorette party, but I'd be remiss as your matron of honor if I didn't help you for your honeymoon," Rose replied. "We're having a lingerie shower, and all will be packed in your bags for when you take off to locations unknown."

I rolled my eyes and began opening the gifts from my friends and family. Everything I'd received was elegant and demure, which was fine by me. I wanted to be pretty for Edward, but not slutty. The last gift was from Rose. She sat next to me, passing the bow bouquet to Chloe. "This is for your wedding," she said. "To wear underneath your dress and to wow your husband when you make love as husband and wife."

I didn't pull these items out of the box, but blushed at the sheer white lace nestled in the light blue tissue paper. "Rose … thank you," I whispered.

"Anything for my sister from another mister," Rose sniffled, hugging me tightly. "Now, we're on a time limit. Up next is girly pampering."

Edward

I was pacing in the room overlooking the small lake where we were having our wedding ceremony. Off to the right, there was a tent for our reception. I was ready to be married to my Bella. I was beyond ready.

"Dad, will you sit down? You're making me seasick with all the pacing," Seth teased. He was my best man and only groomsman. "Mom's going to be there."

"I know," I grumped. "I just want to hit fast forward so we can be married, and we can be an official family."

"A piece of paper doesn't make us family, Dad," Seth responded wisely. "Now, I'd love for Mom to have the same last name as us, but we'll always be a family, whether or not you're married or not."

"Well, in fifteen minutes, we'll be a more official family," I snorted. "You have the rings?"

Seth reached into his pocket, holding the velvet bag that held our wedding bands. "Do you need a drink?"

"No, you punk," I sighed. "I'm fine." I walked to the window, seeing as everyone was sitting down in the white chairs, underneath a huge willow tree. My cell phone vibrated. Pulling it out, I saw a message from Caius. "It's time. Let's go."

We walked outside and the string quartet we'd hired began playing the processional music. Seth and I took our spots next to the judge, Thomas Chandler, a close friend of Caius's, who was performing our ceremony. I shook his hand, smiling at him. "You ready for this, Edward?" he asked.

"So ready," I beamed. "Thank you for doing this."

"Caius was an old law school buddy. He got me through torts. I'd do anything for him," Thomas replied with a wry grin. "Plus, my wife is a huge fan of your fiancée's books and I'm a huge fan of your movies, especially the most recent one. It had everything … all the emotions, romance, and everything in between. They're talking Academy Awards, son."

"That's all well and good, but today is about my wedding," I said, giving Thomas a crooked grin. As the music changed, I turned to look down the aisle. Rosalie was walking down the rose-petal aisle, wearing a simple, but beautiful dress that was made by the same designer as Bella's wedding dress. It was a wedgwood blue with an embellishment at the waist. Bella got Rosalie earrings and a matching bracelet as a gift, which sparkled in the sunlight.

Rose stood across from me, winking at Seth and me. "She was vibrating with excitement," she grinned. "I've never seen Bella so happy. She's beyond ecstatic, Edward."

"She's not the only one," I said.

The music changed, indicating that Bella was coming and would soon be walking toward me. Our guests stood up, in deference to my bride. I tried to hide my disapproval because they would see her first. My wait, however, didn't last long. Bella walked toward me on the arm of Caius. Her hair was pulled up in a gorgeous chignon with her long veil trailing behind her. Twinkling on her ears, were the blue diamond earrings I'd bought her. She held a simple bouquet of white roses, wrapped with a wedgwood blue ribbon.

Caius and Bella stopped just before us on the dais. The music faded away and the ceremony began in earnest. I couldn't remember a moment of the wedding after Caius placed Bella's hand in mine. We repeated the vows that we'd written for each other, slipping our wedding rings onto shaking fingers – hers a four-carat diamond eternity band and mine a brushed platinum band – formalizing our union, our marriage, our partnership, our forever.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," Thomas exclaimed. "You may now kiss your wife."

"Mrs. Cullen," I purred, taking her face into my hands. "I love you, Mrs. Cullen." I brushed my lips over hers. She sighed into my mouth, deepening our kiss, and sliding her tongue into my mouth. Our kiss became something more and Seth poked my shoulder.

"Dude, that's my mother you're trying to devour," Seth teased.

We broke apart, our cheeks flaming, but with bright smiles pulling at our lips. "Sorry," Bella giggled. "It's been a long day away from my husband."

"Cut them some slack, kiddo," Thomas laughed. "It's not every day you marry your best friend."

"My everything," I murmured, pressing my forehead to hers.

"It gives me the greatest joy to introduce to you, for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Isabella Cullen, along with their son, Seth Swan-Cullen," Thomas proclaimed, holding up his arms. Cheers washed over us as we faced our guests. Seth walked to Bella's other side, holding her bouquet as we walked back down the aisle, ignoring the inappropriate catcalls from Emmett.

The photographer ushered us to a secluded part of the estate for us to have a private moment as a we bonded as a new family. Seth eventually gave us a few moments, leaving with the photographer. I trailed my fingers down her soft cheek. "Bella, you look … there are no words to describe how perfect you look, gorgeous," I whispered. "I love you and I can't believe this moment is here. We're married."

"You look pretty damned perfect, too, baby," Bella said, running her fingertips along my lapels of my grey tuxedo. "I like that you went with the lighter option and not black." She moved her fingers to my jaw, smiling softly. "I never expected to be here, Edward. I never thought I'd find such happiness, such love, in my life. I was content to be both father and mother for Seth, coasting through life, but you showed me otherwise." I opened my mouth to say something. "Wait, Edward. Let me finish …"

"Of course," I murmured.

"You showed me that coasting through life wasn't enough. You showed me how much love can heal, how much love can give," she whispered. "I love you, Edward. You've given me so much more than just your love. You've given me back a life … a life free from fear. A life filled with love, joy and most of all, hope." She pressed her lips to mine, sliding her arms around my neck. We kissed each other until we needed to breathe. "We better behave. We've got more pictures to take … though, I'd rather duck into our suite to make love to my husband."

"Tonight, love," I vowed. "There will be no part of your body I won't kiss."

Pictures took about an hour, and we went into the reception tent, sharing a glass of champagne. Again, things seemed to blur as we ate dinner, listened to toasts, and shared a piece of wedding cake. The first dance was nothing short of magical. I got to hold my wife in my arms, swaying to the music and periodically kissing her pillow-soft lips. After that, Bella danced with Caius, described as the earth-angel sent from Charlie to give his daughter away to the love her life while I danced with my mother.

The dance floor opened up after that and the music played well into the night. I never smiled or laughed so much, celebrating my marriage with my forever family. Chloe caught the bouquet, with Jasper catching the garter. He spun his girlfriend, dipping her deeply with the garter around his head and Chloe laughing hysterically. When he righted her, he pressed his lips to her ear and her eyes widened, looking at him in shock. She grinned brightly, nodding and threw her arms around his neck.

"Did he just propose?" I asked.

"No, he asked her to move in with him," Bella answered. "I think. But, with Jasper, we never know. He can be quite impulsive."

We walked over to Jasper and Chloe, smiling for a photo, and then spending the rest of the night dancing, laughing and loving.

I could not remember a more wonderful day. My family was now complete, happy, and loved.

For the rest of our days, I vowed.

Bella

Seven Months Later …

Sitting in the auditorium, Edward squeezed my hand and ran his thumb over my wedding set. We were at the Academy Awards ceremony. I was undoubtedly nervous, but Edward was as cool as a cucumber. Long and Winding Road had swept the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards, much to my surprise. Hell, even I'd won an award for Best Adapted Screen Play for the Golden Globes. I had a Golden Globe.

Talk about mind-boggling.

"Bella, they're announcing best supporting actor," Edward whispered.

"Do you think Sebastian will win?" I asked, watching the various clips from each movie. The clip from Long and Winding Road was from one of the most brutal scenes in the movie. The first time I watched it, I fell into a flashback and Edward had to resort to using one of my anxiety pills to bring me back. Sebastian's performance was so eerily similar to Jacob that it made me sick.

Proof that Sebastian was an amazing actor, and that Jacob was a disgusting human being.

"And, the Academy Award goes to … Sebastian Franks!"

Sebastian, who was sitting across the aisle from Edward and me, stood up with a shocked expression. He kissed his girlfriend before hugging me and shaking Edward's hand. He jogged up the stairs, taking the Academy Award and grinned widely. "It's heavier than I anticipated," he laughed. "I never expected to win, to be honest. There were so many amazing performances in this category, and I'm humbled to be nominated. I'd like to thank Isabella Swan for providing the source material. Her script was amazing, and it was a challenge to create such a hateful character, all while maintaining my integrity. Edward Cullen directed this movie. His leadership brought so much strength to the ensemble. It was an honor to work with him and the rest of the cast and crew.

"Finally, this is for the survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. I know I played a horrific character in the movie, creating many visceral reactions, including people closely involved in the making of this movie. Many survivors think that there's no way out, but there is hope," Sebastian breathed. "I know that a portion of the film's proceeds have been donated to various organizations that supported and help survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. All of the actors from the film have matched the donations …"

"Oh, wow," I whispered. "I didn't know."

"I also donated, gorgeous," Edward whispered back. "In your name …"

I leaned over, kissing my husband's lips. "I love you, Edward. There are no words …" I bit back tears, kissing him again. "I need to pull it together, but all I want to do is drag you back home and thank you properly."

"Hmmm, something to look forward to," he purred. "But, we need to behave. I don't want the censors to whack me with a fine since I've got a boner from kissing my hot wife." He pressed another sweet kiss to my lips before settling back into his seat.

As we sat there, Long and Winding Road received two more Academy Awards: Best Editing and Best Score. Edward shared little tidbits about the actors and producers sitting around us, assuaging my inner fangirl. My husband was gorgeous, but I still had crushes on Brad Pitt and the guy from the Harry Potter series … the actor who played Cedric Diggory. I poked Edward's side and teased him that he looked a lot like that actor, but Edward gave me a scowl. I just snickered at him, threading my fingers with his. Cedric Diggory was the fantasy. I got the real thing.

After a commercial break, Jennifer Hudson and Pedro Pascal stood center stage. Pedro began speaking. "Movies begin with a vision. Sometimes that vision is wholly unique and other times it's based on other source material, like a book, someone's life or a play."

"You can't forget a musical," Jennifer added, who famously won an Academy Award for her performance as Effie White in the movie adaptation of the musical, Dreamgirls. "This year's nominees for best adapted screenplays come from works of literature, some amazing books, biographies, and novels combined. The nominees for Best Adapted Screenplay are …"

I knew that I was nominated for best adapted screenplay. I smiled when the cameraman focused on me, but my stomach was a twist of vampire bats and anxious energy. Edward held my hand, rubbing soothing circles atop my knuckles.

Pedro opened the envelope, smiling broadly. "The Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay goes to Isabella Swan for the movie, Long and Winding Road," he announced.

Edward took my face, kissing me sweetly. "Congratulations, gorgeous," he said with a bright smile.

"What?" I asked.

"You won!" he laughed, standing up and pulling me up with him.

He kissed me again, gently pushing me toward the stage. I walked carefully up the stairs and was hugged by Pedro and Jennifer, both congratulating me with happy grins. I was handed the golden trophy and I shuffled toward the microphone. "Like my friend, Sebastian, said, it's heavier than I anticipated. Nor did I expect to win. At all. This movie was my first time writing a screenplay. My husband and biggest cheerleader helped me along the way. My strength is writing novels, not movies." I took a breath. "I'd like to thank Summit Films for taking a chance on my novel and on me to write the screenplay. Aro Volturi and his team have been nothing but huge supporters every step of the way. My found family, Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie, and Caius, I couldn't have made it this far without your love. Seth, my baby boy, you are my everything and I love you with my whole heart. Finally, my husband, Edward Cullen, he … he made my dreams come true with his love, promises and more. Thank you so much for this honor!" I smiled, holding the statue up and walking backstage with Pedro, Jennifer and the woman who brought out the award.

Backstage, I was interviewed by several entertainment news programs before I was guided back to my seat by one of the ushers. Edward could barely his hands of me, kissing me and whispering at how proud he was of me. Amelia was up for best actress, but lost to another actress who'd died in a car accident shortly after principal filming had concluded. Her widower accepted on her behalf, posthumously.

Edward was up for Best Director, and he was honestly shocked that he'd won, despite the drama of the shoot of the film. His acceptance speech was far more eloquent than mine, but he'd been born and raised in this world, where I was still trying to navigate all of this. My heart just about burst when he looked at me before he'd finished his acceptance speech. "All of this came to fruition because of my wife … her brilliant mind, strong heart and beautiful soul were the backbone of this film. I love you, Bella. You and our son, Seth, are my world. This is for both of you." He grinned and walked off stage with the two presenters and the same woman who'd brought out my award.

My cell phone vibrated in my handbag. I slid my finger across the screen, seeing a text from Seth, who was staying with Carlisle and Esme while we were at the Academy Awards. He wanted to come, but he knew he couldn't last through the entire award ceremony. Hell, I was struggling. I wanted out of my designer dress and too-high heels. They pinched my feet, even as I sat in the plush seats.

You and Dad looked amazing! Congratulations! Do you think you'll win Best Picture? ~ Seth

I tapped a response, sending a selfie of me holding my Oscar, saying that we didn't know. I also replied that I loved him, slipping the phone back into my purse. Edward slid back into his seat, pressing a brief, but heated kiss to my lips. "Did I sound like a jackass?"

"Definitely not," I snickered. "You actually belong up there. Me? Not so much."

"You're already on the best dressed lists and I overheard several bigwigs eager to have you write their next screenplay," he quipped, twining his fingers with mine.

"I think I'll stick with writing books," I whispered, kissing his cheek. "For now, I'd be happy back at your place in pajamas."

"Not a fan of being all gussied up?" he asked. "I happen to love this look."

My dress was simple, but sexy. It was a navy-blue jersey dress with draping and spaghetti straps. My hair was curled like a Vargas girl, covering my scars on my back. I wore my wedding jewelry, which matched the color of my dress perfectly. What made it sexy was the curve of the dress as it slid over my body. Edward's eyes popped out when I walked out of the bedroom, after I'd been attacked by one of Esme's stylists. He told me that every inch of perfection was on display. His hardness that pressed against my hip indicated he loved how I looked, even though I felt like I was wearing a nightgown with heels.

Pressing his lips to my ear, he continued. "I would love this look more if the dress was on the floor," he purred.

I shuddered, giving him a pleading look. "Behave," I begged. "We still have to go to some after parties and you're being all Edwardy."

"What does that mean?" he laughed, kissing just below my ear. "Edwardy?"

"All sexy-like, panty melting," I said, turning to kiss his lips. "They're about announce the best picture category. We need to pay attention. Our movie is up, baby." He pressed another kiss to my lips with a low hum. Pulling away, he turned back to the stage as the best movie nominees were introduced. "What do you think will win?"

"To be honest, I'm not sure. I didn't expect to win best director, just like you probably didn't expect to win best adapted screenplay," he murmured. "We'll know soon enough."

Dame Julie Andrews and Sir Anthony Hopkins read the introductions, describing the movies up for best picture. I tried to not let my anxiety show in my face. A camera was focused on Edward and me. Our only tells were the vice-grip we had on each other's hands. Edward lifted our hands, pressing a soft kiss to my knuckles as Long and Winding Road was introduced. I took a deep breath as Julie Andrews broke the seal on the envelope. She showed it to Anthony Hopkins, who smiled broadly. "The Academy Award for Best Picture is Long and Winding Road!" they proclaimed.

Edward shot up, bringing me with him. He crushed me to his chest as I tried to process what had just happened. "We won?" I whispered.

"We did, love," he said, pressing a kiss to my lips as we walked up to the stage with our cast and crew.

Julie Andrews kissed my cheeks, handing me the statue while Edward shook hands with Anthony Hopkins. Aro Volturi was standing next to me, hugging Amelia, Sebastian, and Ethan. Aro sidled up to me, pressing a kiss to my temple. "Great things, Isabella," he sang. "I'm so proud of you, of Edward and everyone involved in this film. I know it was tough for you … with all that happened, but your story resonated with so many. You're so strong and I'm in awe of your resilience."

"Thank you," I smiled. "There were days where I didn't think I'd make it, but …" I blinked to Edward, who was speaking and accepting the award for the cast and crew of Long and Winding Road.

"You're stronger than you give yourself credit for," Aro argued. "Now, smile and relish in this moment, Isabella. It'll be the first of many."

"… we wouldn't be here without my wife," Edward said, turning back to me. He reached for my hand, and I stepped toward him. "This all became a reality from her brilliant mind. Thank you so much for …" He kissed me, sliding his arm around my waist, "for everything. Thank you." He stepped back, enfolding me into his arms. "Thank you, gorgeous. I love you."

I captured his cheek and brushed my lips over his. We lost ourselves for a few moments until the lights dimmed. The audience began to leave, and we went backstage, giving interviews with entertainment reporters. From the hungry looks that Edward was giving me, he wanted to celebrate our wins in private. We did, however, have expectations and invites to afterparties.

After a whirlwind of interviews, we went to the suite we'd rented to change into something different for the parties. I wore another Reem Acra cocktail dress. It was black and lacy, clinging to my curves. Edward took off his bowtie and changed his shirt to leave the collar loose. We drove to the Vanity Fair Party, photographed on the blue carpet with our Oscars and with the cast and crew. We drank champagne and ate expensive appetizers. Edward was extremely flirty, holding me close and dancing with me. His lips were never far from my lips, my neck, or my shoulders.

Three hours later, we were slightly tipsy and a lot horny. We barely made it to our suite, kissing each other desperately. We fell onto the couch and Edward tore my thong from my body while I tried to unbutton his tuxedo pants. He lifted my skirt, positioning his hardness to my center. "Inside," I pleaded against his mouth. "Make me yours. It's been too long."

"I made love to you this morning," he growled, unzipping my dress, and pulling it down to reveal my breasts, palming them gently.

"Again, too long," I purred, sliding down his length. We both shuddered as two became one. "I'll never get tired of feeling you inside me, Edward."

"I'll never be tired of making love to you, gorgeous," he said, twisting my nipples with his fingers. "So wet, baby. Take me. Love me."

"Always," I said, crushing my mouth against his as I rolled my hips over his body, taking him deeper into me. Our lovemaking was sloppy, with a touch of desperation behind it. Our physical need had been delayed due to the award ceremony and Vanity Fair afterparty. Edward's hands moved to my ass, squeezing it tightly. I moaned into his mouth.

"Hmmmmm, you like that," he breathed, kneading the pliant flesh of my behind.

I wriggled my arms out of my dress, tangling my fingers into his soft hair. I tugged on the soft strands, earning a low growl from my husband. I rocked my body over his, squeezing my pussy around his cock. He pulled back, looking up at me. His eyes were nearly black with desire. "More?" I asked breathily.

"You have no idea, baby," he chuckled, rolling so I was on my back, and he was on his knees on the floor. He ripped off his jacket and appraised our position. My dress was around my waist, with my breasts bouncing with each thrust and my pussy was bared to him. "You are a fucking siren." He circled his fingers along my clit as he worked to unbutton his shirt, revealing his muscled torso. "I'm fucking close, Bella. You're so wet and tight around me … Please say you're with me."

I palmed my breasts, whimpering as he pounded into me and rubbing my clit, igniting my skin in flames. "Edward …" I whispered. "I'm …"

"Yes, Bella. I can feel you squeezing me," he groaned. "Fuck, Bella. I love you. I will always love you." He adjusted his movements and I shattered. I moaned loudly, arching off the couch. I could feel him shudder, spilling deep within me and claiming me. He bent down, pressing his ear to my chest, listening to my rapidly beating heart. "Did I hurt you?"

"No, not at all," I answered, scratching my nails in his slightly sweaty hair. "I always feel alive when we make love. But, I'm tired."

"Me, too. I know I need to move, but I just want to sleep," he snorted into my skin, pressing a kiss to my breastbone. He eased out of me and scooped me into his arms. "Quick shower and then bed, my love. It's been an amazing night, but I'm ready to go back home."

"You read my mind, baby," I replied, sliding my arms around his neck. "Home sounds perfect."

Edward

A year and half later …

Working in my office, I was planning my next movie shoot. I was invited to direct the latest Batman movie and I was going for more of an arthouse feel to it, focusing on the early years of the caped crusader. I'd hired my leads and was now working on the timing of the movie, along with the location.

"Dad, there's a phone call for you," came the deepened voice of Seth. He'd become a man overnight. He was as tall as me, and his voice had dropped several octaves. But, he was still skinny as a rail. His body grew, but his muscles didn't get the memo.

"Thanks, Seth," I said, saving my work and jogging up to the kitchen where my cell phone was charging. My son was dressed to go running. "Give me a few and I'll join you, okay?"

"Cool," Seth smiled, handing me my phone. "I'm going to take Bear out."

"Did you do your homework?" I asked.

"I just need to do some reading for U.S. History, but I'll do that when we get back," he answered, ducking outside with the dog.

"Hello? This is Edward Cullen," I said into the phone.

"Mr. Cullen, my name is Warden Joshua Riggs," he began. "I'm contacting you regarding a prisoner."

"Is this regarding Jacob Black?" I asked flatly.

"Yes," he replied. "I was told to contact you regarding any changes in his …"

"Let me get my wife," I huffed. "Give me a moment." I unplugged my phone, muting it before jogging upstairs to where Bella was working on her latest novel. "Gorgeous, you got a few?"

"Is everything alright?" she asked, blinking to me.

"I've got some warden on the phone, something about Jacob," I murmured, sitting down on the couch in her office. Bella wrinkled her nose, curling to my side. "Ready?"

"Yeah," she huffed, twining her fingers with mine.

I pressed the speaker phone, unmuting the call. "I'm sorry for the delay. I've got my wife with me," I said.

"Thank you for speaking with me. There's a note in this inmate's file that we needed to reach out to you if something happened to him," Warden Riggs explained.

"We asked for that since Jacob tortured my wife for years," I growled. "He was sentenced to life … no chance of parole."

"He's still in custody, but something happened," Warden Riggs said. "He was brought to the infirmary, bleeding heavily."

"He's dead," Bella said emotionlessly.

"He's dead. He died from a gastrointestinal bleed after he'd been penetrated by a sharp object," Warden Riggs said mechanically. "He was shared by a number of prisoners after they'd heard what he did to be sentenced to prison. One of them was a member of the Quileute tribe, taking sick pleasure in making Jacob pay for disgracing the Quileute heritage and history."

Bella had tears in her eyes, getting up abruptly and leaving the safety of my arms. The door to our bedroom clicked shut and her sobs filled the upstairs of our home. "Thank you, Warden," I said stiffly. "Do you need anything else from me?"

"No, we just wanted to let you know that Jacob was dead," Warden Riggs muttered.

"What will happen to the body?" I asked.

"He'll be cremated, and the ashes will be disposed of."

I closed my eyes, tears leaking from my own eyes. "I hope he's burning in hell," I sneered. I ended the call, walking to the bedroom and finding Bella crying, curled around my pillow. I crawled onto the bed and enfolded my shattered wife into my arms. She gripped my shirt, burrowing closer to me. "He's gone, forever, gorgeous. He'll never hurt you or Seth again." I cradled her body against mine, pressing soft kisses to her forehead and showering her with as much affection as possible. After ten minutes, her sobs tapered off. "Talk to me, gorgeous. Why are you crying? Surely, you're not sad that …"

"No, not at all," she sniffled. "I mean, I'm a little sad that Seth's biological father is gone, but how he died is why I'm in crying."

"He got what he deserved," I sneered.

"No one deserves to have their choice taken away," she replied. "Emmett said something similar when Jacob was sentenced. Regardless of who they are, no one should lose their right to their own body. Take it from someone who had that right taken away." She wiped her cheeks, looking at me. "Jacob was a devil and he deserved to be punished, but not in that way. I know it seems stupid and that I disagree with karma's large can of whoop ass she delivered to him, but it's how I feel."

I sat up, wiping her cheeks with my thumbs. "You're a better person than me."

She sniffled again, capturing my hand, and pressing a kiss to my palm. "I need to tell Seth."

"Let me handle it," I said. She arched a brow, uncertain if I could keep my opinions to myself. "I'll tell him, without the commentary about how he died. Why don't you call Caius or Rose?"

"Okay," she whispered. "I'm sorry for snapping."

"I'm sorry for being a heartless ass," I snorted humorlessly.

"You're not. Your reaction is normal. Mine? Not so much," she grumbled. She leaned forward, kissing me gently. "Thank you for being here, always."

"I'm not going anywhere, gorgeous," I vowed. "I'll be back. Text me if you need me, love."

"I will," she said, sliding off the bed and walking back to her office.

I blew out a breath and scrambled out of bed. I quickly changed into my running clothes, slipping a hat on my head. Our lives were relatively quiet here in San Francisco and I could run errands without having to duck the paparazzi. But, I was still recognized.

Strapping my phone to my arm, I went downstairs to look for Seth. He was tossing a ball for Bear, who happily chased after it. "Seth, you ready?" I called from the backdoor.

He took the ball, jogging toward me. Bear barked, trying to swipe the ball from his fingers. "No more, Bear," Seth said, throwing the ball into a basket inside the door. "Everything okay?"

"Yeah," I answered. "Let's go for a run."

Seth nodded, grabbing two bottles of water from the refrigerator, and tossing one to me. We walked out the front door, walking for a few blocks as a warmup. When Seth put in his Air Pods, I did the same and we began to run. We ran about two miles to a nearby park, when I gestured for Seth to sit with me. We sat down on some grass, overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge.

"What's wrong?" Seth asked, swallowing half the bottle of water in gulp. "Who called?"

"The warden at your biological father's prison," I answered honestly. "Jacob's dead."

"Good," Seth growled. "He should have died years ago. How?"

"Another prisoner, another Quileute, murdered him for tarnishing their name, their legacy," I said. I purposefully left out how he'd been killed because … well … Seth didn't need to know that.

"What will happen to his body?" Seth asked. His eyes flashed with hatred. Hatred for his biological father for what he did to his mother and for his father's disgraceful legacy.

"He'll be cremated and disposed of," I explained.

"Good," Seth sneered. "I bet he's burning in hell."

"That's what I said," I smirked. "Look, I know that this is awful news."

"No, it's not. It's good news. That monster can't hurt anyone, especially my mom," Seth scowled, finishing his water. "I'm glad he's dead. I hope it hurt. A lot." He scrunched the water bottle, tossing it to his feet. "Is my mom okay?"

"She was upset, but is talking Caius," I said, looking at him. "I'm sorry that you're dealing with this. I'm sorry that he died and that you have to come to grips with the death of your father."

"He's not my father. You're my dad. Period," Seth exclaimed, throwing his arms around my neck. I held him closely as he lost control of his emotions. I felt his tears on my shoulder. "I love you. You're the best dad I'd ever wanted. He doesn't matter. He's gone and no one will remember him. After today, I won't." He sat back, wiping his cheeks with the back of his hand. "Can we go back home? I want to check on Mom. She's got to be … I don't know."

"Are you sure that you're okay?" I asked.

"I am. I promise," he said, standing up and holding out a hand for me. "Race you home?"

"Just so I can beat you?" I snickered, taking his hand, and accepting his help. With a crooked grin, I took off and Seth barked out a laugh, sprinting behind me. Halfway home, Seth breezed past me and taunted me all the way back to the house. When we got back, our family was all there, undoubtedly, to support us during this time of uncertainty. Rose was in the kitchen, cooking something delicious. Her twins were wandering around the living room with Liam. Jasper and Chloe were in the backyard with Emmett, Lily, and Maggie, playing with Bear. Caius was drinking some wine, chatting with my parents and Alice, who was sidled up to her boyfriend, Theo.

My parents got a condo in San Francisco when I'd made the decision to move here. They still called Malibu home, but visited here often. It appeared they were visiting when we'd gotten the call about Jacob. Alice, who had gotten closer to Bella, but was still kept at arm's length, was visiting them and came with our parents.

Bella came downstairs, her face free of tearstains and a look of peace etched on her features. I floated over to her, arching a brow. "Did you call the cavalry?" I asked.

"I called Caius. He called the cavalry," she said, wrinkling her nose. "Oh, baby, you are …"

"I know, I'll shower," I laughed.

"How's Seth?" she asked. "Did he ask about how …?"

"He did and I skirted the truth. He cried, angry that he hadn't died earlier," I sighed, taking off my hat and running my hand through my sweaty hair. "Seth said that he hoped that Jacob was burning in hell."

"He is," Bella scowled.

"Seth also said that after that moment, he'd never think of his biological father ever again. No one will," I said. "He's stronger than us." Leaning down, I brushed my lips over her cheek. "I'm going to shower and then, we'll celebrate our freedom and our family. I love you, gorgeous."

"I love you, too," she whispered, trailing her fingers down my jaw.

A quick shower and dressing in a pair of jeans and polo shirt, I went downstairs, joining my family. I sat down with Bella on my lap and the news about Jacob's passing dissipated. Seth played with his adoptive cousins, tiring out Bear with a rousing game of fetch. Bella snuggled our godchildren, singing to them and telling them stories. They were enraptured by their Auntie Bella, but seeing her with children made my heart break.

Bella said she'd wanted more children, but didn't want to use a surrogate. She still had her ovaries, and we could go through IVF, extracting her eggs and implanting the fertilized embryos into a surrogate. However, she said that the best part of having a baby is feeling them grow within her womb. Because of Jacob and Billy's incompetence, she couldn't do that. She didn't have a womb to have a baby.

I clenched my fist in anger when I thought of that. Bella, while holding Robbie, loosened my fist and slid her hand into mine. "I can see where your mind is going," she murmured. "You want to see me holding our child and I don't have that ability."

"I hate that you had your uterus stolen from you because of their stupidity," I hissed.

She forced me to look at him. "I love you. I would love to have your child," she whispered. "I was thinking … fostering to adopt. I talked to Chloe about it, and she said we'd be great options for foster parents. She can help us with the paperwork, getting us approved and helping us navigate all we need to do." She leaned down, kissing Robbie's downy head as he curled closer to Bella. "I don't want to go through IVF. I want to help a child who has no one else in the world … like me. When my father died, I should have gone into the system, but I was already eighteen."

"Helping a child who is alone in the world," I mused. "Just when I think I can't love you anymore …" I pressed a kiss to her lips. Pulling back, I gave her a crooked grin. "Let's do it."

Bella

Six Months Later …

"My hand hurts," I grumbled, shaking out my fingers.

"Your readers appreciate the personal autograph, Bells," Jasper said, putting the last book into the box for the Book Bonanza conference that was happening this weekend locally. I'd pre-signed about five hundred books, fifty of each novel, for the conference. "Be thankful that I thought about doing this beforehand. Imagine signing these over the course of the three days at the conference, all while trying to smile and navigate your fans."

"True," I said, shrugging. "Are you going out with Chloe tonight?"

"I was supposed to, but she texted me, saying that she has a work emergency," Jasper frowned. "I know that Edward is flying back from Toronto tonight. Why don't we go out to dinner? It's been a long time since we've hung out. Besides, I want your advice. I don't want to talk to Rose about it."

"Ooookay," I drew out the word, looking at him speculatively. "Let me go to the bathroom and send Seth a text. He's got rehearsal after school before going out with his girlfriend, Taylor."

"Do you like her?" Jasper asked, stacking the boxes of books on the pallet to be delivered the hotel where the conference was being held.

"She's sweet. They went to Homecoming as friends, but it morphed into more. I like her. She's good for him," I said. "I know Edward talked to him about using protection …"

"Do you think he's having sex?" Jasper asked.

"I wash his clothes," I snorted. "I think it's leading there. I've washed so many pairs of stiff boxers and crusty socks."

"I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit," Jasper groaned.

"Don't deny that you did the same, bub," I teased. "I'll be right back." I went into the bathroom, washing my hands and braiding my hair over my shoulder. Walking back to my office, I checked my phone, seeing a text from my husband.

Plane's delayed. I won't be back until early tomorrow morning. Then, I'm taking a week off before I go into full-editing mode. I'll be so happy once this movie is done. Too many delays. Too much bullshit with the actors. I can't wait to hold you in my arms. I love you, Mrs. Cullen ~ Edward

Be safe, Edward. I can't wait to be held by you. Call me before you take off. I'm going out to dinner with Jasper. Love you to the moon and back … xx ~ Bella

Tell him I say hello. I'll love you until the last star burns from the sky ~ Edward

Always got to one-up me. *Rolls eyes* ~ Bella

You know me … Have fun. Kiss my kid for me and tell him that we're going for a run tomorrow ~ Edward

Your movie shoot was that bad? ~ Bella

I'll tell you when I get home, gorgeous. Much love to you ~ Edward

I said goodbye to him, packing up my belongings and meeting Jasper in the lobby of the publishing house. He was tapping on his phone with a furrow in his brow. "Everything okay, Jasper?" I asked.

"Chloe's work emergency just got worse. She had to take custody of a baby girl," he frowned. Blinking up to me, he gave me a hesitant smile. "The mom overdosed, and the dad is in prison. There's no one … you're a registered foster parent. You want a baby?"

"What?" I asked. "A baby? Really?"

"They're at UCSF," Jasper said.

I blinked a few times, sliding my phone out from my purse. I called Edward. I couldn't make this decision without the input of my husband. I sat down, trying to calm my heart.

"Bella?" Edward answered. "Is everything okay?"

"Everything's fine, but Chloe has a baby. The mom is dead, and dad is in jail. I don't know more, but I didn't want to make this decision without you," I sputtered. "We can be a foster family to this baby."

"Yes," he breathed. "Of course!"

"I need to get …" I trailed off.

"Get whatever you need, whatever the baby needs," he finished for me.

"Okay," I said. "I know this is not what you probably wanted to come home to …"

"Bella, we're helping a child, a baby, who has no one," Edward murmured soothingly. "I'm going to see if I can find another flight …"

"No, it'll be fine. I don't know how long I'll be," I answered.

"I'll help her, too," Jasper called. "We all will!"

"I'll still check," Edward grumped. "I love you, gorgeous."

"I love you, too," I whispered, ending the call, and blinking up to Jasper. "Let's go to … hell, I don't even know. And, I need to tell Seth, too." I quickly dialed my son, but his phone went directly to voicemail. I left him a message, asking him to call me. I also sent a text, as well.

"I've already texted Rose. They're dropping off a crib, clothes, and the stuff from when the twins were babies. You'll need to get a car seat and stuff for the diaper bag," Jasper read from his phone. "Chloe said that the baby is six months old but she's tiny, about the size of a three-month-old. She's malnourished because the mom was more worried about getting her next fix, not feeding her baby." I growled lowly, blinking up to Jasper. "I know, Bella. I'm pissed, too. Let's get what we need. I want to meet my newest niece."

"We're just fostering her," I argued.

"From what Chloe said in her texts, the baby is truly abandoned. You could adopt, Bells," Jasper said.

"We'll cross that bridge when that's verified," I replied, standing up. We left the publishing house, driving to Target and raiding the baby section. I'd never spent that much money in one shopping trip in my entire life. I would have preferred to have washed all the stuff I'd bought, but I just loaded everything into the black diaper bag.

"I've got a picture," Jasper breathed. "Here's the baby."

He handed me his phone and the sweetest baby was held by Chloe. Her skin was a rich chocolate brown with soft curls atop her head. Her eyes were almost comically big in her tiny head, but she was perfect. "Oh, she's beautiful," I said, caressing her photo on his cell phone screen. I scrolled down seeing information of where the baby was being examined. "Let's go."

We drove to UCSF, parking in the garage. Jasper carried the car seat, while I balanced the diaper bag on my shoulders. Riding the elevator to the pediatric floor, we met up with Chloe. She was holding a squirming bundle and speaking with a doctor. "Here's the foster mom I'd mentioned," Chloe smiled. "Isabella Cullen, this is Dr. Rodgers. He examined Elizabeth."

"Mrs. Cullen," Dr. Rodgers said brusquely. "Is this your husband?" He gestured to Jasper, who was holding the car seat.

"No, Jasper is a close friend," I answered. "My husband is away on business, trying to get home but the weather is not cooperating."

"Come with me. We need to discuss Elizabeth's care," Dr. Rodgers explained. "She's a very sick little girl …"

Chloe handed me the baby and my heart took off into a nervous sprint. Her deep brown eyes were already so ancient for being so young. "Hello, pretty girl," I whispered, running my finger down her too warm cheek. I sniffled a little bit, rocking her gently as she began to fuss. "You're safe now. No one will hurt you anymore. I promise." Chloe handed me a bottle. "You want some food, little one?" I pressed the nipple to her lips, and she began to suckle, staring at me with wary eyes.

We walked into a small conference room while I fed Elizabeth. I sat down in one of the office chairs, staring at the sweet, innocent baby girl in my arms. "Mrs. Cullen, Elizabeth is quite malnourished," Dr. Rodgers said. "She needs to be fed small, incremental meals to get her to the weight she should be. She's also developmentally delayed because of that malnourishment. She's six months old, but as at the development of a newborn."

"How can I work on that developmental delay?" I asked, looking away from the baby.

"Interact with her, play, talk to her," Dr. Rodgers explained. "Chloe has some information for occupational and physical therapists. She should be able to roll over, babble and interact with her world. She just stares."

"She was surviving Dr. Rodgers," I said, smiling at her and taking her tiny hand. Her pink lips curved up around the bottle's nipple. "There's a smile, pretty girl."

"Already we're seeing an improvement," Chloe breathed. "When we got the call and found her, she was in box … a box … with a dirty diaper, a handful of toys and a grubby blanket. She wasn't crying. She was just lying there, playing with a stuffed bear. Using it to give her affection since her mother couldn't care less about her."

"What happened to the mother?" Jasper asked.

"Found in the bathroom with a needle in her arm, dead," Chloe hissed. "And from the look and smell of her, she'd been dead for a while."

"So, what do I need to do for Lady Elizabeth?" I asked, smiling down at the baby in my arms. "You are not going to want for anything, little one."

"I think what you're doing is a great start," Dr. Rodgers murmured. He held up a folder, which Jasper took. "Here are the tests I ran on her today and anything else, I'll send along to you, since you're going to be her guardian."

"We're going to look for any other family members, but we might become more than her guardian," Chloe smirked. "We can go over all of that after you get her settled. Can I come over tomorrow?"

"Yeah," I answered absently. "Call first. Edward's flight is delayed and he's getting in early in the morning."

"Wait, you're married to Edward Cullen?" Dr. Rodgers asked with wide eyes. "Holy shit."

"Language," I chided, blinking to the baby. "And, yes, Edward Cullen is my husband. You may know me as Isabella Swan. I wrote a number of popular novels. I'd appreciate if you'd keep this information to yourself. You wouldn't want to violate HIPAA, would you?"

"Of course, not," Dr. Rodgers stammered. "I'm sorry. I'm just a huge fan of his work. My husband, ironically enough, is a huge fan of yours."

"Then, you understand our need for privacy," I responded with a cold smile. I put the bottle on the table and checked Elizabeth. She was sleeping in my arms. I hated to disturb her, but I placed her into the car seat. Her eyes flew open, squirming a bit. I was gentled when I buckled her into the car seat. "We're going home, pretty girl. You're going to meet your brother and your daddy. You will be so loved." I pressed a kiss to her downy head. Her tiny hands caressed my cheeks, gurgling and giving me a smile. I kissed her palm and pulled away. Elizabeth kept her eyes on me as I picked up the car seat. "Is she discharged?"

"Her discharge paperwork is in the file folder," Dr. Rodgers nodded. "I've also included several pediatricians' information in the file, as well."

"I appreciate that," I said. I gave a smile to Chloe, who seemed almost giddy with the reaction from Elizabeth to me. "I'll see you tomorrow."

"I'll have some paperwork. I'm heading back to the office to finalize my report for CPS," Chloe nodded. "I'll leave the office after that." She shot a look at Jasper, who gave her a subtle dip to his chin. "See you tomorrow, Mrs. Cullen."

I gave her another smile and left with Jasper and Elizabeth. I sat in the backseat of my car while Jasper drove us back to my house. When we arrived, the house was lit up like a Christmas tree. Rose and Emmett's car was parked on the street. Walking inside, I carried Elizabeth into the kitchen and saw Emmett cooking a meal. "You didn't have to do that," I chuckled.

"You just had a baby. It's the least we could do," Emmett grinned. "I think we still have some frozen meals you made for us after we had the twins. Could you make that potato soup again?"

"I'll add it to my to-do list," I deadpanned, placing the car seat on the kitchen table.

Emmett lowered the heat on whatever he was cooking and made his way toward me and Elizabeth. "Oh, Bella, she's beautiful," he whispered. "Tiny …"

"She was essentially abandoned," I said. I picked her up, seeing her fully since I'd removed her swaddling. She was so little, completely dwarfed by the outfit the hospital put on her. I also smelled that she needed a diaper change. "Can you get the diaper bag from Jasper? He was right behind me."

"Sure, Bells," Emmett nodded. "I'm also going to get Rosie, too. I know she wants to love up on the newest member of our family."

He kissed my cheek, jogging up the stairs. As he did that, Jasper walked in with the diaper bag, talking to Seth. My teenaged son gaped at Elizabeth, but a slow, happy grin spread over his face. He swiped the diaper bag from Jasper, jogging to where I was standing. "She's so cute, Mom. Little …" he whispered. "Can you show me how to change her diaper? I want to help."

My eyes filled with tears, nodding slowly. I kissed my son's cheek and showed him, step-by-step, how to change a baby's diaper. When we finished that, I carried Elizabeth around the house. I showed her new home, ending with the temporary nursery that had been set up in one of the guest rooms. Rose scurried over to me, cooing at the now sleeping baby. I watched my foster daughter … no, my daughter … and counted my blessings. I had a beautiful home, an amazing son, a loving and doting husband, and the best friends and family I could ever ask for. Elizabeth, after today, would be so loved by her found family with bonds thicker than blood. I pressed a kiss to her sweet-smelling head. Placing her in the crib, I set up the baby monitor and clipped the receiver to my jeans.

"You were born to be a mom, Bella," Rose whispered as we left the ad-hoc nursery. "You're more maternal than me."

"I always wanted a big family because I didn't have one as a child. It was always me and Charlie, with Jacob and Billy thrown in on occasion. When I got pregnant from what Jacob did, I was pissed at how it happened, but happy that I'd have my own family. I prayed that I'd be able to have more, but …" I trailed off, brushing my fingers over my belly.

"Now, you have a big family," Rose pressed, hugging me tightly.

"I do," I replied, smiling wistfully. "I love you, Rose. Thank you for …"

"Do not even do that. You're my sister. I think I'm closer to you than my damned twin brother," she quipped, leading me downstairs.

"That's because I go shopping with you and listen to you bitch about said twin brother," I snickered, looping my arm through hers.

"I'm not that bad," Jasper grumbled from his spot behind Chloe, who'd arrived while I was putting Elizabeth down.

"You're not. You've actually gotten better since you starting dating Chloe," Rose admitted, begrudgingly.

"Sorry about pretending not knowing you," Chloe sighed. "Dr. Rodgers is a stickler for the rules. I'm shocked he let you leave without Edward being at the hospital."

"I think he was a little starstruck," I said, rolling my eyes. "Can you tell me more about Elizabeth? I mean, what can I expect? I already adore her."

"Mom is dead, and she has no other living relatives," Chloe explained. "Dad is incarcerated for manslaughter, drug possession with the intent to sell. He signed away his parental rights when he went into jail. Dad's family are older and not in a spot to care for a baby. I recused myself from this case, handing it off to my partner and he's taking over the case. He's reaching out to the grandparents on dad's side, but since he was disowned by his family, I doubt they'll want the baby."

"I'll get Caius on …" I began. "Or not, he's family, too."

"You can use one of his partners," Emmett offered. "They are a family law firm."

"It would be smart to get an attorney. Once we get the go-ahead, we can begin the adoption process," Chloe said.

"Soups on!" Emmett called. "McCarty's famous chili mac … extra spicy for me, my wife and godchild and mildly hot for everyone else."

"Thanks for making it spicy, Uncle Em," Seth grinned, making a huge plate of spicy chili for himself.

"You're going to regret that in the morning," I said, wrinkling my nose as Seth piled on cheese, sour cream, and more peppers on his plate.

"Nah," Seth laughed. "Besides, this is second dinner. I had first dinner with Taylor and our friends after rehearsal."

"What was that?" Jasper asked, arching a brow.

"Chili dogs with cheese fries," Seth answered, swiping a piece of cornbread. "I'm a growing boy."

"Oh, to have the metabolism of a teenaged boy," Rose sighed. "I'm still trying to lose the baby weight from the twins. My ass will never be the same."

"I love your ass, baby," Emmett sang. "I love everything about you."

"Ugh, gross," Jasper groaned. "And you wonder why you have five kids? Speaking of which, where are my nieces and nephews?"

"With the nanny," Rose answered. "We're heading home after we eat dinner." Rose ate a spoonful of chili, humming contentedly. "Best decision to hire a nanny. Why hadn't we thought of that sooner? Also, this chili is delicious, Em."

"We were stubborn," Emmett snickered. "Besides, having two kids at once? We needed all the help we could get."

We spent dinner talking about the situation with Elizabeth. Chloe, while she'd stepped back from the case, would help me and Edward navigate the steps to hopefully adopt that innocent baby girl. Seth surprised me with his promises to help with babysitting. My son was the most selfless person I knew and my love for him grew exponentially as he actively participated in the conversation.

Shortly after that, Rose and Emmett left to relieve the nanny, who was putting in overtime hours so they could be at my home while I processed the situation that I was a foster mom to an abused and abandoned baby girl. An hour after that, Elizabeth began whimpering and I went upstairs with Chloe. She watched me as I changed Elizabeth's diaper and sitting down on an overstuffed chair to feed her. "In the few hours you've had her, it's like seeing a whole new baby," Chloe mused.

"Yeah, well, it'll be an adjustment. The last time I had a baby, I was a teenager recovering from major abdominal surgery with no help," I deadpanned. I looked down at Elizabeth, smiling softly as she watched me. "I have a book convention this weekend … I may have to back out. Take some maternity leave."

"Edward will be back, and he can watch the baby," Jasper said from the family room. "After the convention, you can take maternity leave." He stomped up the stairs, leaning casually on the door frame. "I know it sounds cold, but the publishing house is touting you as a headliner. You have to go."

I sighed, nodding slowly. "We've got a couple of days. I'm already so attached."

"How can you not be?" Seth asked, sitting on the floor near my feet. "Can I feed her?" I nodded, removing the bottle from Elizabeth's lips. She began to whimper as I transferred her to Seth's arms and handed him the bottle. He smiled brightly as she stopped fussing, taking the nipple, and watched him with curious eyes. "So, little sister, I'm Seth and I'm your big brother. You got a problem? I'm your guy to protect you. Mom? She's awesome. Smart, pretty, snarky and loves with her whole heart. Plus? She's super creative! She can create a story in a heartbeat. Our dad? He's … everything. He'll probably be more protective of you than me. He'll love you and chase away the monsters. Welcome to the crazy, Lizzy." Bear came over sniffing the baby, woofing lowly. "Oh, and that's Bear. He'll snuggle you and beg for you to throw his slimy ball to him. But, he's cute. Not as cute as you, though."

"We're not crazy," Jasper argued.

"Speak for yourself, babe," Chloe snorted. "I love you and all, but you are the king of crazy …"

"Crazy … in bed," Jasper purred. Chloe let out a strangled whimper. "On that note, we'll talk to you tomorrow. Love you, Bells. You, too, Seth. You can take the midnight feeding."

Seth shot Jasper a wry look, waving as they left. We stayed in Elizabeth's room until the bottle was empty. She reached for Seth's face, babbling sweetly at my son. I took a picture with my phone and sent it to Edward. After changing Elizabeth once more, I put her back in the crib. Seth and I talked a little bit about his day as we put away the food. I also tossed all the new clothing and belongings for Elizabeth into the washer. Seth went to bed, hugging me closely and saying that he loved me so much. He also adored his little sister, wanting to do everything possible to make her life easier. I kissed his cheeks, grasping his face in my hands. "I'm so proud of you, Seth. You have so much good in you. I love you, baby," I whispered.

"I'm not a baby," he teased. "The baby is in her room."

"Until I die, you will always be my baby, Seth Charles Cullen," I said. "Just like Edward is his mother's baby and he's old."

"Okay, okay," Seth laughed. "I'm your baby. Got it. Anyway, I'm heading to bed. I have to do some reading for history and answer some questions. Plus, I've got the midnight feeding."

"Good night, kiddo," I said. He hugged me once more, jogging to his bedroom in the basement. I sat down at the kitchen table, looking over the paperwork Dr. Rodgers had given me regarding Elizabeth's condition. She was malnourished and too small for her age, but she hadn't been abused. She didn't have any broken bones or scars on her baby soft skin. She was just neglected. I made a vow to snuggle her as often as possible. Switching over the clothes from washer to dryer, I went upstairs and gathered Elizabeth in my arms. I carried her to my bedroom. I placed her in a small fortress of pillows, and I changed into some pajamas. After that, I got into bed, balancing Elizabeth on my legs. We just stared at each other, drinking each other in. "I promise you, Elizabeth, I will love you and give everything you never had. We're going to start with food, love and snuggles."

Elizabeth gurgled, reaching for me. I took her hands, kissing her pudgy palms. Then, I told her stories, interacting with her and giving her the stimulation she should have had since she was born. Once her eyes drifted closed, I put her back into her crib. As much as I wanted to lay down in bed, I grabbed a blanket and curled up on the chair in Elizabeth's room, drifting off to sleep to the soft sound of Elizabeth's snoring.

I woke up to someone trailing their fingers down my cheek. I blinked blearily and saw my husband's gorgeous green eyes staring back at me. He was holding Elizabeth in his arms. She was dwarfed by his large frame, sleeping contentedly in his embrace. "You're home," I murmured. "I'm so happy you're home, but honey … the beard?"

"Hush," Edward said. "I'll shave it after I've slept, but I had to meet our baby girl. I saw the paperwork on the kitchen table and read her history. She's lived a tough life."

"Not anymore," I said, unfolding myself and standing up from the chair. "We have some obstacles to contend with before she's truly ours, but Chloe doesn't think it'll be a problem." I leaned my cheek against Edward's bicep, wrinkling my nose as I smelled the stale scent of airplane and corn chips. "When was the last time you showered, Edward?"

"I know, I'm crusty, but I needed this film done yesterday," he groaned, giving me a sexy smirk.

"The smolder isn't going to work until after you've showered and shaved the rat off your face," I laughed, taking Elizabeth from his arms. I kissed him briefly. "I love you and I'm happy you're home, but get clean."

"Yes, gorgeous," he laughed, walking into our bedroom.

I carried Elizabeth downstairs, placing her into the car seat since we didn't have highchair yet. I added it to my list of baby stuff we needed to get. I found some baby food, hoping that her stomach could handle something more substantial. Six months old is when babies usually start eating more. When Seth was this age, I had to make my own baby food since I didn't have the money. "Do you want to try something new, Elizabeth?" I asked, opening a jar of pears. She smiled, reaching for me and kicked her legs. "I'll take that as a yes, pretty girl." I dipped the spoon into the baby food, bringing it to her lips.

The jar emptied quickly, as Elizabeth devoured her first meal. Her excited squeals indicated she liked her breakfast. I was washing her face when Seth came up, dressed for school and Edward came downstairs, clean, but still sporting the beard. I also noticed the dark circles under his eyes, despite the eagerness to love up on our new child. My husband worked hard on this film, and he deserved a break.

Seth played with his sister while he drank his coffee and ate his breakfast before he got into his friend's car to drive him to school. When the car honked, he kissed my cheek and hugged his father as he laughed, "Dude, lose the beard!"

"Your mom wanted me clean, and I wanted to truly meet my daughter, punk! I couldn't really shave in the allotted time without slicing through my jugular vein," he snorted, throwing a dog toy at Seth's retreating form. Seth caught it, tossing it to Bear who was barking at his toy being played without his consent. He called out another goodbye, slamming the door shut. Elizabeth didn't like that, and she began crying.

"Oh, pretty girl," I cooed, picking her up and holding her close to my body. "Your brother will be back. I promise." I pressed a kiss to her forehead, rocking back and forth. Edward slid his arms around both of us. I leaned back into his embrace, inhaling his clean scent, smelling like sandalwood, vanilla, and mint.

"This is a dream," he murmured, rubbing his hand up and down Elizabeth's back, kissing my neck. I giggled at the feeling of his whiskers against my skin. "Sorry. I forgot how ticklish you are. Why don't you let me bond with my daughter, and you can shower? Then, we can spend the day buying our sweet girl everything she needs."

"You've got to be tired, Edward," I frowned, looking back at him.

"We got a hotel room and slept there. Plus, I slept on the plane. Just give me some coffee and I'll be fine," he shrugged. "I'm thinking a princess theme for the baby's room."

"Clichéd," I said. "She's been denied so much, and she needs things to engage her mind. Colors, shapes, sounds, scents …"

"Elizabeth and I will look for things for her new room while you get ready," Edward pressed, taking her out of my arms. Elizabeth looked at him, tugging on his beard. Her nose wrinkled and she made a disgruntled sound. "I get it, baby girl. I'll shave it off."

I giggled, kissing them both and jogging upstairs. I showered quickly and dressed in a pair of jeans and a casual sweater. Stuffing my feet into a pair of booties, I went downstairs. Edward and I ate a quick breakfast before heading out to a local baby boutique with Elizabeth in tow. Using the powers of persuasion and Mr. Black Amex, we got a full baby's room that would be delivered in a week. It would give us time to clear out the guest room, paint it and set everything up. We decided to keep the crib, but purchase bedding that went with the decorations, which was a combination of coral, teal and stark white. It almost had a carnival theme to it, but more upscale.

The weekend after we'd taken Elizabeth into our custody, I begrudgingly went to the book convention while Edward stayed with our daughter. However, he did come with Elizabeth to give me some time with her during a break. The day after the convention, we emptied out the guest room, painting it with the colors we'd chosen for the room. It looked empty with just a crib and empty painted walls, but by the following Tuesday, it would be filled with furniture, toys, and things to engage Elizabeth's mind and body.

After discussing things, Edward decided to hand off editing duties to Elliott and Alec, claiming he was taking paternity leave. They were more than happy with this since Edward reworked their contracts to pay them more. I also decided to take time off to devote to Elizabeth and getting her where she should be developmentally. She was gaining weight and babbling more since she came into our care. Rarely did she cry, but when she did, it was over something intense, like a loud noise, an accidental bump or missing her big brother.

Seth was her favorite person. I was second. Bear was third and Edward came up last. My husband grumped about it, but the therapist said it was due to his introduction to Elizabeth. Don't get me wrong; Elizabeth adored Edward. He was silly and made her giggle the most, but she preferred Seth.

We had Elizabeth for a month when we got a phone call from our attorney in Caius's firm, Peter, regarding Elizabeth's adoption. Her birth father confirmed he signed away his parental rights. He also gave Peter his parents' contact information, but said that they were done raising kids. Peter's call verified that statement, along with a signed affidavit, proclaiming that they would not be pursuing custody of Elizabeth. With that, we were able to petition the state to adopt our daughter.

We had a home study done by Chloe's coworker and he deemed us more than suitable parents, signing off on the petition. All that we needed was a court date.

That came in early December, four months after we'd had Elizabeth in our care. She'd grown by leaps and bounds, going from the first percentile in height, weight, and development, to the eightieth. She said her first word, "Bear," and was toddling around, using furniture, Bear, and anything else within reach to help her get around the house.

Standing in front of a judge, we were granted permanent guardianship and legally adopted our baby girl, Elizabeth Leticia Rose Cullen, into our family. During our research, we found her original birth certificate, naming her as Elizabeth Leticia Morris. We wanted to honor the name her mother gave her. So, we added Rose's name, since she was Elizabeth's godmother and changed her last name. We also kept everything about her mother if Elizabeth wanted to learn about where she came from as a child.

After the adoption, we met up at McCoffee Café for a reception and celebration for Elizabeth. I know that Esme wanted to do more for her granddaughter, as did Caius, but our baby girl was still overwhelmed by crowds and too many stimuli. So, a small, intimate gathering was planned with our immediate families, similar to the party held in my honor when I'd returned from Los Angeles, finalizing the deal with Summit for the rights to my first novel.

We collected the overabundance of gifts, loading them into our SUV and into Emmett's van, and drove home. Elizabeth crashed in her car seat, exhausted from the excitement from the day. Edward carried her up to her room while Seth and his girlfriend began unloading the cars with Emmett.

Working together, Edward and I changed Elizabeth into some pajamas. She barely stirred as we tucked her in. Edward flipped on the monitor, and I picked up the receiver before we left the room.

Downstairs, we thanked and hugged Emmett for helping us bring the presents home. They were all brightly wrapped, gleaming on the dining room table. It would be a chore to open them all, but our baby girl deserved every one of them.

"We'll open these tomorrow," Edward said, guiding me to the living room. He sat down, pulling me onto his lap. He helped me out of my heels, curling his arms around my waist. We looked at our Christmas tree, reveling in the quiet. Seth left shortly after coming home to go out on a date with Taylor, who just got her driver's license.

I must have dozed off because when I opened my eyes, I was in bed and wearing one of Edward's oversized shirts. I reached over to snuggle with my husband, but his side of the bed was cold. I slipped out of bed, tossing a robe around my body, and padding down the hall. I heard singing in Elizabeth's room. Opening the door, Edward was cradling our daughter and singing quietly as he rocked back and forth in the glider in the room. She was fighting sleep in his arms, but it was a losing battle.

When she stopped squirming, he blinked up to me. "She started crying an hour ago. I think she's getting more teeth. I saw another one break through her gums," he said. He gently rubbed her back. "I gave her some children's Tylenol and let her chew on a cold teething ring. It helped."

"Good," I said, moving to stand next to him in the dark room. He slid his arm around my waist, pressing a gentle kiss to my temple. "I never thought I'd ever get here."

"Awake, at two in the morning, watching over a teething infant?" Edward quipped.

"A little bit that, but a lot bit of happy …"

"You deserve happiness, gorgeous," he murmured, cupping my cheek, and staring into my eyes. "Don't ever think that you shouldn't have it."

"Edward," I breathed, reaching over to hold his hand as we watched our daughter sleep in her crib. "Thank you for not giving up on me, on us …"

"There was never any doubt, gorgeous," he said, pulling me into his arms and brushing his lips against mine. "Love will always find a way. You're my world, my everything. You, Elizabeth, and Seth … I love you."

"I love you more, Edward," I grinned, kissing him soundly. "We love you. Always."

"Forever, gorgeous. Always and forever."

If you'd asked me how I pictured my future, this would not be it. I've come so far, but I was still … so …

I don't know.

I had dreams. I had wishes. I had a future. I was happy. I would forever be happy.

I'd fallen in love and with my husband, my rock, and by my side, I could do anything. He adored me and adored my son … our son … doted on our daughter. And our story began with a Blockbuster, but ended with a happily ever after.

Dreams really do come true.
