I'm back in my room, about to doze off when something shifts and nudges me awake. I blink and my head suddenly aches.

Wait. Is this even possible? I only gave one vision! The room begins to spin, but instead of fighting the feeling like I always did in the past, I decided to see what the unexpected vision would give me.

The pain immediately eases itself when I open my eyes. My mouth opens in amazement when I see…my future.

I see the trees, gently swaying in the wind. Someone is sitting by the water. They turn around to look at me.

It's her.

I sit there, unmoving when it ends. I clutch something close to my chest, hidden underneath my shirt. She looks the same as I remember, but…different, somehow. Does this mean we'll see each other again?

I'm immediately taken out of my daze when the floor shakes and cracks start to appear on the walls, larger than before. All of the rats immediately scatter away to escape. Something falls on my makeshift theater, startling me and I jolt out of the room. I can hear my heart in my ears when I realize that I just dodged a disaster when I turn to see the place collapsing on itself.

The house is falling apart.

I barely have time to even contemplate Mirabel's role in all of this as I weave through the passageways, trying to get to the exit. I run as fast as I can to avoid the debris falling from the ceiling. I find myself and a rat I've rescued trapped before I grab a bucket hanging on the wall and put it on my head. I hope for the best, bracing myself and smashing through the weakening side of the house.

My brain feels like it's being shaken as I roll down the slight incline. I gasp as I take the bucket off my head when I feel the soft grass on my back. I see the rest of my family on the other side, safe, but someone's missing.

Mirabel!

I spot her and my stomach drops. She's still in the house, trying to grab something from Mamá's windowsill.

I feel the magic leave me. This time, for good.

The rest of the family cries out for her. Julieta's voice is the loudest. "Mirabel! MIRABEL! LEAVE IT!"

"MIRABEL! THE HOUSE IS GONNA FALL!" Félix.

"MIRABEL! GET OUT!" Pepa.

"MIRABEL!" Agustín.

I watch in horror as my tower falls to the side, threatening to crush my niece. "MIRABEL!" I cry out. All of the memories I have of her growing up flash before my eyes.

The first time I held her. Birthdays. Christmas. New year. All the moments she would ask me to play with her. Laughing at the little shows I put up with my pets as the stars. The way she smiled, laughed, and immediately lit up whenever her Tía Gabriela was around.

Mirabel grew up practically glued to my beloved and me…our little angel.

The true miracle.

Querido Dios, por favor, por favor, no te la lleves. Ya perdí mi amor una vez, no necesito otro.

I'll do anything. I'll even face Gabriela and come clean when I find her. Please, just keep Mirabel…safe.

I crumple to the ground when the dust clears. The house is in ruins, and Mirabel is nowhere to be found. I hide as the townsfolk descend to check what's going on. The family looks lost and confused. I'm thinking the worst when I see a familiar swish of blue. Mirabel! I notice the tears streaming down her cheeks. Her face has the same look of disappointment I had on myself when I saw her future, so many years ago.

She's going towards the mountains that split into two, to the outside world. I think about following her to bring her back to the family, but I find myself frozen in place. My voice is stuck in my throat as I watch her silhouette disappear into the distance.

I sigh. She needs time to be alone. I'll bring her home tomorrow.

I let her leave.

The day breaks and I hear people call out her name. I squint at the light as I sit up and stretch. A tree isn't the most comfortable place to sleep.

I think I'm feeling my age.

I hear footsteps. Thankfully I'm hidden from view, so whoever is below me can't see me. My eyes widen when I see it's Mamá, going towards the direction Mirabel disappeared into last night.

No, no, no. She's going to blame Mirabel for this.

I debate with myself. What am I going to do? Am I going to argue with my mother? I quickly jump off the tree to give chase, but she's already too far away.

Mierda. Me and my indecisiveness.

I look around and spot a horse grazing in a nearby field. Its reins are still on, meaning the owner probably left for a short while to get something. The owner won't mind if I borrow his horse, right? It's an emergency.

It's a very bumpy ride as I try to look out for them beyond the Encanto, avoiding the low-hanging tree branches while keeping myself seated. It's been a while since I rode a horse and I'm terrified.

Where could they be?

I suddenly see multiple butterflies fluttering about. They look familiar…

I'm about to follow the direction it's coming from when the horse leads me somewhere else. I scream as it jumps through the bushes. ¡Jesucristo! Somehow, despite me not knowing where to go, I end up directly in front of the two people I'm looking for.

"She didn't do this!" I yell out at them as I try to shift my balance so I wouldn't fall off. Mirabel and Mamá both have shocked looks on their faces as they watch me struggle. "She didn't do this!"

My right foot gets caught in the reins as I get off. "I…gave her…a VISION!" I yell as confidently as I can, but I look more ridiculous by the second. I try to untangle myself, but the horse moves away before I even manage to and I fall face-first into the ground.

Smooth. This has happened before.

I immediately pick myself up and continue with my rant. "It was me! I was like go! And she was like…she only wanted to help!" I approach them, all the feelings I've repressed all these years from my own family…from my own Mamá, come out. "I DON'T CARE what you think of me! But if you're too stubborn t–"

My sentence is cut short when Mamá rushes forward and nearly crushes me in a tight embrace. "Brunito…" She whispers.

I blink in confusion. She's hugging me. Is she…not furious that I disappeared for over a decade? I expected her to be. "I…feel…like I missed something…important."

Mirabel laughs. "Come on," She says. We follow her and she mounts the horse, helping Mamá upon its back. I stare at them as they reach out their hand to me so I can climb on too.

"Wha-what's happening?" I ask them both. "Where are we going?"

Mirabel snaps the reins. "Home."
