Pitch and Nixie sat eating dinner. " So how was your day Pitch?" " Good there was this slumber party and all dreams successfully turned into nightmares." He said with a smug smile. Oh that's great! I learn something new." " Oh, and what might that be?" " Nothing much,archery from Angle,
then some elvish from North and I'm having a baby." Sounds like you had a full day." Nixie sat there and waited. She counted down . .1 Pitch stopped eating and dropped his fork.
He stilled and slowly looked up . Nixie couldn't help but giggle the look on his face. Pitch looked at her then smiled. " you, really, really?..." " yes" Pitch jumped up and ran over to Nixie picking her up he spun around as happy as can be. "I have to tell everyone!" he left and just as quick as he left he came back sulking. " They all know already. the damn Toothfairy and her big mouth.
During the following months Nixie stomach swelled and the bigger she got the bigger her cravings got. She had poor Pitch running here and there getting her everything and anything she wanted. there were times when her mood swings got so bad he had to hide. Nightlight though would always be there. He had become quite attached to Nixie. so when Pitch was away he would watch over the expecting mother. In a way she reminded him of Kathryn. Sometimes he would have thoughts cross his mind. Thoughts that sometimes frightened him. Sure he grew up and was a boy no longer but he was still himself. Nixie came waddling in the room her and Pitch share. She looked ready to pop.
In fact she was. No one told her that a spirit's carry their children not as long as humans. It has been about five months. and she was due any day now. She sat on the bed as Nightlight came up to her. Now hanging around Pitch's dark lyre was not something he liked but she was here and he liked her. " Oh hey NL. " He smiled back She talked to him and like always he listened. She told a joke and they both laugh. Even though he never said a word he was not incapable of it. His laugh was like music. But the laughter died down when Nixie grabbed her stomach in pain. " It's ok, just a little kic- AHAHAHHA" The pain was too great this time. She grabbed Nightlight's arm " Get Pitch!" He hated to leave her like this but she was right she needed help. He raced out to find Pitch but on the way stopped by to Let Tooth know, who let everyone else know. And they raced over to Pitch's . As Tooth and Angle helped Nixie in the room the boys sat outside in the hall.
Nightlight must have flown around the world by now, and no sign of Pitch. ( Where are you?) He looked in every scary dark place he could find. Till he found one of Pitch's mares. He said in a soft voice " go tell Pitch it's time . go home." The mare took off.
And Nightlight headed back . When he got there Nixie's screams greeted his ears. But he was stopped by the others when he tried to go in the room . The nightmare found Pitch as he just left the home of a now very terrified child. The mare trotted over and telaphicly related the message. At first he didn't get it then it clicked ( It's time , it's time. ) He kept chanting in his head. Meanwhile In the room. " PUSH, PUSH NIXIE! THATS IT ALMOST DONE!" "PITCH! PITCH WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!" She gave one last push. Outside the room all went quiet . " Is it over?" Jack asked " don't know mate, Hope the shella's alright." Just then Pitch came up . "where, where is she ?" He asked out of breath. " She's in the room."
Said North. But Pitch's next question was silenced as whales came from the other side of the door. And out stepped Tooth. " IS she?" " They are just fine." She moved over to let him in. Pitch he moved as fast as his legs would take him but it just seemed to take him hours. All the while his eyes locked on the sweaty tired woman sitting in the large bed that they share holding a little bundle in her arms. he came over and sat next to her. " I'm so sorry i wasn't here."
She just gave him a weak smile. " It's fine you're here now." He moved the top of the blanket to show the tiny face. " It's a girl. Would you like to hold her?" Pitch nodded and was handed his new daughter. She had hair like her mothers, pale skin,
with red lips and pitch's eyes. He looked up at Nixie " She 's beautiful, thank you so much." Nixie smiled and let out a yawn. " HE got up and gave Nixie a kiss before walking out the room with baby in arms.
Once outside the room Pitch was surrounded. Every guardian there had to get a look of the new arrival. "She's a little beauty." " So cute" " hey little one welcome to the world." "3" " Thank you all for everything ." " Tooth put her hand on his shoulder " Of course Pitch." Now it was Nightlight's turn to see the new baby. Once he saw her something sparked inside him. he lifted his hand to her and she wrapped her tiny hand around his finger. ( I will always protect you .) His thoughts reached out to her and she gave him a bright smile . " So whats her name?" asked Angle ' We haven't named her yet. I want Nixie to rest now. When she wakes we'll decide and let you all know. they all nodded and left. But not before Tooth asking if she should stay to help out. " No I've had a daughter before so i can handle this thank you." They all left except for one . He hid himself high up in the caves and dimmed his light. ( no way will i leave her.) Pitch re entered their bedroom and using his nightmare sand made a small cradle for his little princess. He laid her down in it and walked over to the bed. Do to the mess of childbirth he didn't lay down next to Nixie how he wanted so again using his sand he made a small bed that sat between his two girls so he could be next to both at the same time. As he drifted off to sleep he couldn't help but think about how brave his wife was giving him a beautiful daughter. His eyes closed shut and he fell asleep . But this wasn't a deep sleep oh, no he was at the border of it asleep to get the needed rest but awake enough to be alert for if anything should happen.
The next day Nixie woke to see Pitch holding and rocking their new daughter. " Morning." He stopped and glance up " Morning, how are you feeling ?" " A lot better." A small whimper from their daughter got their attention. " Here i think she's hungry." he said as he handed her over to her mother. As she began to nurse Pitch asked " So what shall we name her." Nixie looked up and thought about it. " Faerydae." " What?" " Faerydae, it means dark child, gift from the fairies." Pitch smiled " i love it , it's very fitting."
So once again the guardians crowded Pitch's lair on his request to come this time. When all was gathered Pitch made his annsment. " I like to introduce you all to my new daughter Faerydae!" As he said that Nixie came out holding Faerydae for all to name rang in Nightlight's head . He just had to say it, just to hear what it would sound like so in his soft but sweet voice he said it " Faerydae" as he gazed at her.
And as He looked at his new family he could help the smile and thoughts that came to him.( I'm the happiest man ever. I now have what I've always wanted, what I longed for . I finally have a family.
