"You're late."
Neville grimaced, shifting his gaze away from the shorter, yet glowering woman in front of him. She was extremely colorful, with large, bright blue hair that overtook the size of her own pink body. Even with her colorful and, at least to him, cute appearance, she looked anything but thrilled to see him.
He politely lowered his head toward the Hattrem. "I'm sorry, Miss Phoebe. It won't happen again."
"Cut the formalities, Neville."
He tightly slammed his mouth shut.
"You signed a contract with my boss, so you need to abide by that contract which so happens to include showing up to meetings on time," she explained, setting a pair of reading glasses over her eyes and looking down at the small clipboard in her arms.
"Apologies again," he murmured.
Phoebe made a noise, turning her gaze away from him and toward the Pokemon behind him, who held a camera over their face.
"You don't need someone with a camera-"
"Oh, but we do!" Neville interjected, flinching at her darkened expression. "Sorry for the interruption, but we have a Mewtube channel. We thought it would be fun and exciting to shoot some videos of the campers and show off some of our most entertaining activities. Maybe even have a fundraiser for the next summer season!"
The Serene Pokemon held a puzzled expression. She sent a look of doubt toward him while her lips thinned.
"We've wasted enough time here," Phoebe stated, turning and walking away, "the boss is waiting for you."
Neville scratched the side of his face in confusion. He glanced back toward his companion, who shrugged in response. Turning back to where the Hattrem once stood, he took the time to raise his head and look over the building she walked toward.
It was tall, that much was for certain. It looked to be made entirely of expensive, black stone and glass, glimmering in the sunlight, well, until a stray Murkrow slammed into the side of it, falling backward with a squawk.
Straightening his posture, the Weavile craned his neck to the side, snapping a muscle in the process, before walking toward the entrance with his companion in tow.
When Neville thought that the outside of the building looked expensive, his eyes were as wide as dinner plates when he saw the inside of it. The tiled floor was shimmering as if it was constantly washed and the furniture held a futuristic look to it that had to have cost thousands of dollars a set.
Two couches adorned the right side of the room, with a single glass coffee table in between them and a few business men and women occupying the area. To the left side held a water fountain in the shape of a Swanna, with a table filled with snacks.
He watched as the scenery grew smaller and smaller, placing a hand over the glass elevator window. He knew his benefactor was well off but to the extent of owning this entire building?
"You act like you've never seen this place."
Neville smiled, leaning his back against the wall. "This is my first time here. I was in contact with Mister Blagden through emails."
Phoebe raised a brow. "You contacted and signed a full agreement over property of land and finances through email, all without meeting the person you're signing said contract with?"
"I'm meeting him now," he grinned.
The Serene Pokemon nearly smacked her head while his companion released a long sigh.
Just then the elevator came to a stop with a sharp dinging noise. The doors opened and revealed a large, open room with shiny, gloss wooden floors. It was empty for the most part, with only a brown wooden desk smacked down in the middle.
Behind the desk and staring outside the large glass window was a large slug-like creature. His back was brown and two large horns pronged out from the sides of his head, along with two smaller ones just below. Some splotches of pink could be seen from his sides.
Phoebe cleared her throat. "Sir, your new partners are here."
"Splendid."
The slug slowly began to turn around but slowly would be an understatement. It felt like eternity that the large gastropod was moving but the smart part of Neville's brain knew it had to have been two minutes at most. That still took longer than needed to simply move.
Once he was fully turned around, Neville finally registered that the man was a West Sea Gastrodon. He had a pink tie with many smiley faces splattered on it around his neck.
"It's a pleasure to officially meet you, Mister Perry," he greeted, his voice high-pitched and friendly. He made no movement, unless the small appendages on his sides were moving in which case the Weavile was too scared to approach.
Clearing his throat, Neville grinned. "You may just call me Neville, Mister-"
"Bobby," he interrupted. "Just call me Bobby."
"Right, thank you once again for agreeing to fund my idea for a summer camp," Neville said, gratefully, "it's going to bring in lots of revenue and many Pokemon from all around the world! We'll be a famous, well-known camp and we'll change lives for the better for Pokemon of all ages!"
Bobby nodded his head. "I agree with all your points, in fact, we've gotten an abundance of applications sent in, and like you mentioned they're from all around the world."
"That's right and we already sent in some invitations to the Pokemon we felt were the most interested."
"I honestly did not think a camp idea would work well in the business world, especially from someone fresh out of college," the Gastrodon commented, "I'm happy to say I was wrong in that assessment."
Neville smiled proudly from the praise.
"In fact, it gave me the most splendid idea of expanding on this," Bobby continued, "where we can bring in even more revenue, more interest and expand this on a full national level. All we have to do is make some minor changes."
Neville's smile disformed. "C-Changes?"
"Miss Lafay," the Sea Slug Pokemon ordered, in which Phoebe promptly crossed the room toward the two. She pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to Neville.
Looking down at it he saw it was a flier. It had a picture of himself and Phoebe, which seemed to be photoshopped in front of a forestry campsite. It had large words bolded in a party-like font.
Total Drama Island
"Instead of just a normal camp that anyone can go to for cheap, I felt that it had the potential for more," Bobby explained, while Neville stared at the paper in shock. "Reality television, a gameshow if you'd rather call it that. We bring in some relatable and interesting everyday Pokemon, have them compete in challenges. There will be eliminations involved and we can bring in an incentive of a cash prize to the sole winner."
Shaking his head, Neville gripped the paper. "This is not something I envisioned, Mister-"
"Bobby."
"I- this is the opposite of what I planned for Camp Sunshine...It's not even called Camp Sunshine anymore!"
"You can call the camp whatever you want, the show is going to be Total Drama Island," Bobby explained, gesturing for the Hattrem to help him with his coffee in which she complied.
"We don't have time to do this so last minute," he stated.
The Gastrodon smirked. "Oh, that's no issue. Everything is already set." The Weavile went rigid. "The challenges are set and were inspired by your list of every day camp activities. The set is ready. Staff is complete, with you and Phoebe being the main ones of course."
"With all due respect, I don't agree to this!" Neville explained, raising his voice. "I never agreed to this!"
"Oh, but you did," he chuckled, as Phoebe held the clipboard with a large contract on it. "You signed a contract, in which it states in section eight, paragraph nine: you must follow through with accepting duties as a full time host at the camp."
Flinching, the Weavile looked away. "I thought that was for the camp, not a television show…"
"It's just for one summer," he scoffed, his high-pitched voice fading into a deeper, more disgruntled tone. "You know, you should be grateful, most people in your shoes would be ecstatic to know they'll be a lead star in a television show."
"I don't care about that, I just wanted to share something that I enjoyed as a kid with the world, to show them the wonders of the outdoors. Everyone is stuck on their electronics or staying at home, they don't appreciate the world around us!"
Bobby smiled. "That's encouraging Mister Perry and I know you'll show them that, especially when money is on the line." The phone nearby began to ring, as he nodded at Phoebe. "Alright, that settles that. We start next week, so Phoebe will give you the details of where the show will take place and give you a script to work with. You'll meet your staff and the cast, so make sure to stay well rested and be on top of things."
Neville was about to disagree, but his companion placed a paw on his arm, and when he turned toward them, he was almost met with a camera against his face.
"Come on, Mister Blagden has other duties to attend to," Phoebe said, already walking ahead of them toward the elevator.
Neville sighed and followed her. This wasn't the meeting he was hoping to have when he met the Pokemon he assumed was his benefactor. He had just wanted a simple summer camp to fill others lives with joy and now…
Now he just doesn't know what to think.
And this is the final update for the story! Thank you to everyone who submitted a character and congratulations to all of you who made it! Sorry for the few I had to cut but it was difficult and everyone sent in was amazing in their own way!
So now I'll move on to the planning stages and then the writing portion. My schedule is still insanely busy so I probably won't update until next month but I won't be making any promises. I want to make sure to take my time on this and give you all a quality story to read instead of quantity chapters of gibberish lol.
Thank you for the kindness, support and patience for this! It really means a lot to me and I can't wait to explore this journey with all of you!
