It was a cold rainy night, Camila Noceda was making her famous stew. As she stirred the pot she read an article on her tablet about a girl that was lost in another dimension of frogs, said that it was probably a hoax in some sort of publicity stunt or something. Reminded her of her own daughter who had been living in a fantasy world when she thought was at that summer camp and living a conventionally normal life here in Gravesfield, but Vee was a nice little basilisk girl. Even though she masqueraded as Luz, but that's all in the past.
Though the article got her hoping that she could see her daughter safe and sound, she swore that she wouldn't be the mother that dismissed Luz's interests and tendencies again. She loves her daughter more than anything, she's her only family left and she doesn't want to lose that. 'I hope Luz is okay'
Ding, dong.
The women in the house turned to the sound of the doorbell, Camila went to answer it. But when she opened the door...
GASP!
"Hey mom... I'm home..."
Camila looked like she was about to cry, she thought she saw a ghost. Or five ghosts. A girl with green hair in side tails, a purple haired girl, a dark skinned young boy, a kid who looked like he hasn't had a hug his entire life. And most importantly...
"Who's at the door- HUH?!" Vee popped in with her Luz disguise on, and gasped when she saw who was at the door.
"LUZ!" The other 4 kids screamed when they saw the second Luz.
"Hey Vee." Luz waved as the basilisk went up to her, only to be stopped by the cotton candy haired witch as the others shielded Luz.
"Who are you and why do you look like my girlfriend?!" Amity aimed a finger gun with a purple glowing circle around it as Vee gulped.
"Luz, what's going on? Are you alright mija? Who are these kids? And why do you look like you just went through a war?" Camila questioned her daughter as she brought her daughter in for a tearful hug, she wished she could see her daughter again but not in this state.
Luz cried as she returned the hug, the others ceasing their interrogation on Vee to see Luz's tearful reunion with her mother. They each joined in on the hug as Luz cried, "Oh mom... you have no idea what we've just been through."
"Oh, mi pequeña batata, there'll be plenty of time for explanations later." Camila walked her daughter and the other kids in, "Come on, before you guys catch a cold." the mother brought the kids inside, Vee closing the door behind her as she looked for any potential witnesses. Luckily there wasn't.
Luz and her friends all sat down at the dinner table, with blankets wrapped around them as Camila and Vee served up bowls of stew. Luz took a whiff and sighed, "Ah, oh how I miss your famous stew mama." Luz said as she took a scoop and ate it.
Seeing Luz eat this human food encouraged the witches to try some of it, bringing four hums of delight from the visitors. "What is this delightful concoction, Senorita?" Amity asked.
"It's an old Familia recipe... sorry I never got your name." Camila said as she took a scoop of her own stew.
"Well mom, this is Amity." Luz said as she patted her girlfriend's shoulder, "And she's... well lets just say she's very special to me." they both lightly blush, and Camila gushes at how cute the two were. "As for the rest of my amigos, this is Willow." she presented the green haired bifocaled witch.
"Hey, Mrs. Noceda. Love your home." Willow softly chuckled.
"Then we have Gus, a huge human knowledge seeker." Luz presented Gus, who was looking at stary eyed at a bucket sitting on the counter.
"Eeeeeeeee, a human bucket!"
"And lastly, we have Hunter." Luz stepped behind the grimwalker, who softly waved before looking away. "He's been through some stuff."
"From the looks of it, I say you all have been put the through the ringer." Camila commented.
"You have... no idea... Mrs. Noceda." Amity sighed, biting her lip as she thought about her siblings. Sure Emira and Edric can get a little devious but they cared for her when her mother was too busy overworking their father. And her dad, they were just starting to turn things around in their relationship. She never even got to tell her dad she loves him, much less forgive him fully for not being there. And lastly tell her mother... go jump into the mouth of a lion turtle.
Luz saw her sweet potato and pulled her close to her, cradling her as she can tell her cotton candy haired goddess was thinking about her family.
Amity wasn't the only one, Willow got to questioning if her dads were okay. The thought of her heroes being used as the collector's playthings, oh the horrors he's subjecting them too.
Gus as well was worrying about his dad, though the collector seemed like a child his power makes even all the head witches look like tiny echo mice.
He got a reassuring pat from Hunter, who didn't have any really family now that Belos was dead... he hoped. But of all the people from the castle, Head Witch Darius was the most around for him. He pushed for him to learn real life skills, and making real friends outside the castle. He was more of a father figure than Belos... or Phillip ever was.
Luz gave each of them a comforting look, "Hey, if there's anything I learned from my time on the Boiling Isles, is that their people can defend themselves. I'm sure the others will be okay, they can handle a child with the powers of a god. Probably."
"Still how are we gonna get back?" Amity questioned.
"I'm not entirely sure, we never got around to making a proper portal." Luz said as she rubbed the back of her neck, "And with the one Belos had destroyed and who knows what the Collector did to the Boiling Isles, I'm..." Luz bit her lip as the witches felt the fear intensify, "I'm not entirely sure if... if..."
"Mija." Luz looked up to her mother, "Brujas jóvenes," she looked to the witches, "Whatever is going on, we must trust that your people can take care of themselves. In the meantime, all we can do is hope for the best."
"But Eda-"
"If she can get a portal to our realm, I believe she can get another one." Camila assured her daughter, before turning back to the others. "Until then, you four are free to stay with us for as long as possible."
"Really?" Amity asked as the thoughts of living with her girlfriend, all the things they could do under one roof.
"You mean that?" Willow added.
"Of course." Camila nodded. She then saw Hunter kneeling beside her, "Oh."
"Ms. Noceda, I promise that we will do whatever it takes to pay our debt for giving us shelter in this unfamiliar setting." Hunter stated in a formal voice he's used when he was the golden guard, clutching his hand as the memories of his time rushed through his head. He then squeaked when he felt the woman pat his head.
"Oh Hunter, you and the others kept my mija safe for all these months." Camila gave a soft smile, "You guys don't owe me anything." Hunter nearly cried at the sincerity of the mother's words, the other witches then went over and hugged her.
"I gotta say Luz." Vee slithered over to Luz, "Your mother is one of a kind."
Luz wiped a tear as she watched Camila comfort her friends, "Yeah, she is."
After dinner they set up the living situation, the witches will sleep in the guest rooms. Willow and Amity in one room, Gus and Hunter in the other. Luz will sleep in her old bed, with Vee as her roommate. "You really okay with sleeping on the floor Vee?"
"Eh, I slept on a prison floor for most of my childhood. In comparison this feels like a bed made of feathers." Vee shrugged as she curled up in the extra blanket as she laid her head on a Azura themed pillow, "Although we should probably save up for bunk beds."
Luz giggled before seeing Amity, "Hola Sweet Potato." she waved at the purple haired witch who now sported a pair of Luz's PJs. Her girlfriend lightly waved before staring off into space, Luz went over and brought her into a hug, "Hey, we're gonna make this work. We're gonna get you and others back home and we're gonna find a way to deal with the collector, I promise."
Amity sighed before hugging her back, "As long as I'm with you, I know I'll feel safe." Amity kissed her cheek, making Luz blush lightly. Willow and Gus joined in on the group hug, as did Hunter as he cuddled into Willow's hair. Willow wore some of Camila's jammies while Gus and Hunter were wearing some old sleepwear that used to belong to Luz's father.
Somehow, someway. Things will be okay.
