Inspiration Song: Dandelions by Ruth B. and Sunkissed by Khai Dreams
Maybe it's the way you say my name, maybe it's the way you play your game
But it's so good, I've never known anybody like you, but it's so good
I've never dreamed of nobody like you
And I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime
And I'm pretty sure that you are that love of mine
'Cause I'm in a field of dandelions, wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine
And I see forever in your eyes, I feel okay when I see you smile, smile
Wishing on dandelions all of the time, praying to God that one day you'll be mine
Wishing on dandelions all of the time, all of the time
I think that you are the one for me
'Cause it gets so hard to breathe when you're looking at me
I've never felt so alive and free when you're looking at me
I've never felt so happy
And I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime and I'm pretty sure that you are that love of mine
Dandelion, into the wind you go, won't you let my darling know?
Dandelion, into the wind you go, won't you let my darling know that?
I'm in a field of dandelions
Wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine

The next morning, Flowey was abruptly woken up by the alarming new sound of Saffriel crying from his nursery.
"Oh no," he murmured, sitting up, "I'm coming Saff', don't be sad," he said, almost falling off the couch as he attempted to climb onto his potbot drowsily.
Once he was in, he hurried off, entering the nursery, finding Saffriel in his crib, crying with frustration and loneliness.
"It's okay Saff', it's okay," Flowey cooed, rolling over and poking his head into his baby's view, making himself be known, still, it wasn't enough as Saffriel was too deep in his emotions, unable to stop crying.
"I completely understand, come here, get it all out of your system," he said and picked up his son with several vines and a soft blanket, holding him close to his stem and patting his back, concerned that his potbot was too cold and hard to hold him with.
At the cuddle, Saffriel slowly calmed down, gazing up at Flowey with big emotional eyes.
"It's still so surprising that you're here, you know that? You're basically amazing," Flowey said softly.
At that, Saffriel smiled and Flowey nodded, "it's true, you are,"
"I'm still surprised too," he heard Frisk speak from the doorway, catching him off guard.
Flowey turned to see that they were wearing a long comfortable blue robe with stars and moon patterns all across it with bunny slippers on, their hair a mess, and a prepared bottle in their hand.
They were a sleepy parental mess, but to Flowey, he still found even this new look highly attractive.
"Thanks for checking up on him, I usually come and get him and take him to the kitchen when I make his bottle, despite being a ray of sunshine he's surprisingly not a morning person so it's a whole cranky process, sometimes he's crying, sometimes I'm crying, and…sometimes.. we're both crying, " they explained jokingly, approaching.
"If that's the case, then I can feed him and you can go back to bed," Flowey offered kindly.
Frisk raised their eyebrows, both impressed and grateful, "ah, thank you, but I haven't shown you how to change his nappy and I won't be able to sleep if I leave you helpless with a stinky boy,"
At that, Flowey looked back down at his fussy son with worry, raising him up to give him a test sniff, wincing back with disgust, "UGGghHH, this…is definitely a stinky boy,"
Frisk giggled, "I thought as much, I can his recognize poo-poo cries from a mile away," they then motioned Flowey over to the changing table.
At that, he laid Saffriel down and watched carefully as Frisk got everything set up, cheerfully yet softly speaking to their son as they prepared him, keeping him calm in his moody time of need.
"I swear, he reminds me so much of you when he's upset," they commented as they took his old diaper off and began to clean him up.
At that, Flowey chuckled "how so?"
"You both get the same sort of grump look on your faces, and you both respond very well to positive and kind words and hugs," they explained simply, "now, watch veeerrrry carefully, I'm going to put a new diaper on,"
"Ah!" Saffriel shouted, having spotted the bottle Frisk had sat nearby and was now reaching for it eagerly.
"I'll get that for you," Flowey said, grabbing it with his gloved hand and giving it to Saffriel, who grabbed for it and popped it into his mouth, staring up at Flowey with appreciation and thought.
"'Thank you dad-dee'," Frisk said in a sweet high pitched voice, speaking for Saffriel.
Flowey snorted and chuckled, "okay, okay, just cover up the kid already, I know he must be cold,"
"Oopsie, sorry!" Frisk said, then began to show Flowey how to put a diaper on and where to put the sticky tabs that held it all together.
"And voila! He's fresh!" Frisk said, picking up Saffriel, making him laugh happily "fresh baby butt!"
Flowey watched with admiration, "you can still go back to bed if you want, I can take care of him,"
Frisk tucked their baby to their side, helping him hold up his bottle, "nah, I'm having so much fun with you here, I mean, it's great with just Saffey and me, but this is soooo much better,"
Flowey sighed sadly at that, "I really should have been here all along, you didn't deserve to do this alone,"
At that, Frisk's smile faded and they nodded, then looked down to Saffriel with love.
"You're right…but… I was never completely alone, I had help from the others… but…"
"But they couldn't stay with you," Flowey finished for them sadly.
Frisk shook their head and their smile returned "that's why I'm so happy that we've come back to each other, because I know now for sure that I'll never be alone again,"
Flowey smiled too, his heart doing a few backflips at their words "that's right,"
He then thought about the proposal necklace he had given them, wondering if it was in the closet full of his things or if it was in their bedroom?
Or the red heart clip? Or all the love notes they had written to each other or even the drawings…
He wanted to ask these questions, but instead, he decided to do something else that would be less emotionally demanding…
"Now that I know you have baby food stashed away, I'm sure you won't mind if I made breakfast this time?" he asked.
At that, Frisk beamed a big smile at him, "I would adore that, thank you,"
"I will get started now, then," he said and rolled out of the room, curiously eyeing the closet full of his things as he passed it, making a mental note to go through it sooner than later.
The three had a peaceful morning, chatting quietly and eating.
That was… until Frisk leaped up in a scrambled dash as they remembered that they had an important meeting to attend to, quickly calling up Toriel and Asgore to come by to keep Flowey and Saffriel company (despite Flowey saying he didn't need the help).
Two hours and many hugs later…
Flowey found himself having tea time with his parents in the living room, pretending that he didn't feel awkward, keeping his focus on Saffriel as he wiggled about below on a blanket on the floor, surrounded by toys to play with.
The first half of tea time was spent in almost near silence as Saffriel happily entertained himself, nibbling toys, inspecting them, and tossing them about.
Until...Toriel spoke up.
"So, it has come to my attention…that you are staying just best friends with Frisk?" she asked.
Flowey closed his eyes and let out a big sigh at that, preparing himself "…yeah, it's what they want for now,"
"But what do you want?" she asked.
Flowey looked down at his tea shyly, "uh…mom, no offense, but that's kind of… a loaded question,"
Toriel giggled and gave her son a gentle pat "it is okay dear, no offense taken, you can trust us, everything that you and Frisk have long hidden is literally sitting at our feet, joyfully nibbling on a stuffed bear, you cannot surprise us any more than you already have,"
"This is well and true," Asgore added quietly.
At this, Flowey took a long sip of his tea, further emotionally preparing himself...
"well, since you put it that way, I… I… want to be.. romantic partners with them again, I want to someday… marry them like we had planned to,"
"I support this, it would be good for Saffriel to have you both around full time, but are you absolutely sure it is good for you and Frisk?" she asked carefully, "...especially after what happened?"
Flowey pouted at that, "I don't know, we've talked, and I.. still love them, they want me back and I want them back, I'll even stomach couple's counseling if I have to, but I'm afraid of hurting them again,"
Toriel made a soft intrigued sound at that "my dear… it's literally impossible to not hurt the one you love, everyone makes that accident eventually, even if it's just a little bit,"
"I know, I know…," Flowey mumbled shyly, sipping his drink, unsure of what to say now.
"Have you told Frisk that you still want to marry them?" Asgore spoke up.
"Uhh… no… it didn't seem like a good idea to admit after they told me that wanted to be just friends again," he explained "but we did admit that we still love each other…um... romantically,"
"Are you okay son? You look… nauseous," Asgore asked, worried.
"Uhh…no, no, I'm not okay, talking to you guys about 'this', was…is…my teenage self's worst nightmare," he explained, grinning uncomfortably "actually, I know for certain it's still is my worst nightmare,"
"This is fantastic then! You are facing your fears, and I am very proud of you," Asgore cheered, "you even handled finding out about Saffriel very well and I am well aware how hard that was for you,"
"He is right, you have done a wonderful job so far, but I cannot but be reminded of the look on poor Frisk's face when they explained their relationship with you, oh, they were so frightened and tearful, but they did a wonderful job as well," Toriel said, smiling with loving humor.
Flowey let out a long sigh and took another even longer sip of his drink...
"Sooooooooooo...uh…hm…do…do you two have any… advice on how to… ask them out again?"
"Hmm, well, I would suggest impressing them first, but I believe you have already done so by promising to be there for Saffriel," Toriel said thoughtfully.
"From the 'Magnola' stories you told me- combined with what Frisk told me, it was them who asked you out first in the beginning, was it not?" Asgore asked.
Flowey nodded shyly, "mhm, and I'm still not completely sure how I won them over in the first place,"
Toriel gasped in shock at that, "you do not?"
"I do not," Flowey echoed with humor, sipping his tea.
"How do you not know? You are a handsome, smart, and funny boy!" Toriel said proudly, trying to cheer up her son.
Flowey snickered, "thanks mom," he then paused "well, now that you've jogged my memory, my other best friend did admit that he had a small crush on me, so I guess I'm not completely unsure anymore,"
"See? The Dreemurr family has always been attractive in one way or another, I am certain you will win Frisk back very soon," Asgore said, "just remember to stay honest with them and tell them all of your feelings and wishes,"
Flowey smiled at that, then looked over to Toriel and then Asgore, "uh, by the way… I think it's been enough time, I need to confess to something,"
Toriel frowned, concerned, "oh my…what could it be this time?"
"Do… you guys remember when Frisk got that nasty cut on their wrist when they were a kid?" he began.
"Mm, yes," Toriel said, watching him carefully.
"I do as well," Asgore spoke up, now worried.
Flowey prepared himself with a deep sigh "I was…regretfully responsible for that, it was an accident, and Frisk already forgave me years ago, but I've felt too guilty to tell you guys,"
At that, Asgore let out a small gasp, "oh, son…,"
"I knew," Toriel spoke up, smiling sadly as the other two looked at her in surprise.
"What do you mean 'you knew'?" Flowey asked, both annoyed and embarrassed.
"Well, just as Asgore here figured out that you and Frisk were dating, it did not take me long to figure it out, still, just as you two fibbed, I fibbed as well and hoped one of you- or even better, both would confess… but, neither of you did," she said and smiled thoughtfully.
Flowey smiled as well and shook his head at himself, "keeping it secret had been all Frisk's idea, they were afraid I would get taken away,"
Toriel's smile brightened "it is good that one thing has been transparent and evident to us all this time, which is that Frisk has always loved you dearly,"
Flowey chuckled warmly and gazed down at Saffriel, who looked back at him curiously.
"I've always loved Frisk too, I just made the mistake of not being consistently transparent about it, " he admitted, still smiling, but his voice sad "I was so afraid of them getting hurt if we outed ourselves that I made them afraid too, it was like a… virus that I had spread,"
"Now you have the chance to change that," Asgore said, "you can heal each other,"
"Oh, that is a good one Asgore! I wish I had thought of that!" Toriel chirped.
Flowey sighed and was about to make a sarcastic remark, but was silenced when Saffriel grabbed a hold of the couch and pulled himself, and screamed excitedly.
Flowey gasped in surprise "is that a new thing?!"
Toriel giggled "somewhat, he started doing it recently, isn't it brilliant to see him-,"
"Yes it is!" Flowey said happily, grabbing up his son and raising him high into the air, making him scream happily and giggle loudly.
"Did you know that Frisk specially picked out his name? The saffron flower is supposed to symbolize innocence, joy, and new beginnings," Asgore said.
Flowey smiled proudly at that "they've always been clever with name-giving,"
"Not at all like your father," Toriel added quietly.
The family talked a little longer and decided to watch a movie, after fifteen minutes, Flowey noticed that both his parents plus Saffriel had all fallen asleep (within Asgore's arms)
At the opportunity, Flowey carefully and quietly got up from his spot on the couch and wheeled off to the closet that held all of his things.
He avoided the things he was already aware of, like his box of gloves, his box of sunglasses and regular glasses replacements, his accessories, and oversized hoodies.
Then he saw it.
A large plastic box labeled 'Our Memories'…
Growing nervous, he opened it slowly, it was filled with folders and a few jewelry boxes.
Curiously, he picked up one of the jewelry boxes and opened it, and sighed sadly when he found the proposal necklace, however, he saw that they had handled it with care, making sure to place it neatly.
Putting it back, he picked up one of the folders, picking out a fairly large one, and opened it.
It was filled with Frisk's poems, love-drunk doodles where they had written 'F+F 4ever' several times in cursive, the drawings they had given him, plus the stories they had made up to entertain him, things he hadn't seen in so many years…
He looked further, surprised to see the love song he had written them.
For a moment, he thought about singing it again to them, but… no, while it was heartfelt, he had meant it when he said he was only going to sing it once, it was way too embarrassing, it made for a better love letter than a love song.
Sighing, he searched further, finding a few specially framed photos of the two of them that they had hanging up back in their old apartment, from a distance, every photo looked like two best friends having fun, but in truth, all of the photos had been taken from separate dates and anniversaries that they had.
It made sense why Frisk hadn't hung them up, the memories attached to them were romantic and too sentimental.
At that thought, he winced as he imagined Frisk crying as they put all of these things away, going through each object, remembering, and feeling heartbroken as they forced themselves to hide it all so they didn't have to look at it anymore.
Flowey understood all too well.
While now sad, he was still curious, getting comfortable as he shifted through the beautiful memories that they had created together.
Then, he found it, one of the very first drawings Frisk had ever given him.
In it, was an illustration of a brown-haired stick figure wearing a blue square squiggle, next to them stood a yellow flower with a silly face.
On the left side of the brown-haired stick figure, it was nighttime, as the dark blues were evidence, between the two characters, the sky was a mix of beautiful reds, pinks, and oranges, on the right side of the flower, it was daytime and the sky was light blue, it was a nice thought out use of contrast of colors and artistic parallels.
Usually, in a child's drawing, there would be a sun in the corner somewhere, but there was none to be seen, the same could be said about a nighttime picture, usually, there would be stars, but they weren't any there either (strangely enough though, there was a moon- but Frisk never forgot the stars in their pictures.)
"You are their sunshine… their only sunshine~," he heard Chara sing softly, teasingly, so softly he barely heard them.
At that moment, a spark went off inside of Flowey and he smiled big as an idea formed in his mind and he was Determined to make it happen, even if he had to embarrass himself trying.
"I'mmmm baaack my sweet, sweet daaarrlings!" he suddenly heard Frisk call from the front door, dawning their best Mettaton impression.
"AH!" he shrieked softly, scrambling as fast as he possibly could to put everything back where it was supposed to be and put it back into the closet, doing a terrible job at organizing through the pressure.
"Heellllooo~?" Frisk called again, following in the direction where the most noise was coming, walking down the hallway, pausing when they found Flowey attempting to cram things back into the closet.
"Hi," they said simply.
"AH!" Flowey shrieked again, but louder this time, making Frisk jump and laugh with surprise.
"Are you okay?" they asked, walking closer.
"I'm…something, I uh…," he then looked at his mess and smiled guiltily, "I couldn't resist looking through our old stuff,"
They smiled gently, "you found our memories,"
"I did, it was… really nice.. even though it made me sad," he said, allowing Frisk to help him put everything back up in a more neat manner.
"I'd like to go through them with you sometime if you don't mind," they said.
He smiled in their direction, "I don't mind at all,"
After that, Frisk carefully woke up Asgore and Toriel, letting them quietly know they were free to take their leave, which they did so, thankfully not waking the baby in the process.
Frisk then laid Saffriel back into his crib, coming back out to smile goofily at Flowey, "that was really sweet seeing the three of them asleep like that, I'm a little mad that I didn't take a picture,"
At the mention, Flowey's brows raised, "wait, do you have baby pictures of when he was born?"
Frisk gasped, putting their hands on their hips, looking insulted, "why would you even ask? Of course I do!" they turned around and motioned him to follow, "c'mon sir, you need to see your son as an infant, right this minute,"
He snickered, happily following along, but became increasingly shy as he realized that they were leading him to their bedroom, the only room in the apartment he hadn't seen yet.
"Uh, are you sure it's okay if I come into your room?" he asked awkwardly.
They did a double glance at him, smiling sheepishly, "it's fine, it's not like you being in here is going to magically cause us to jump each other," they said, then got on their knees and began to search through the cubby-hole in their computer desk.
"I don't know, stranger things have happened," he mumbled under his breath, hesitantly pulling his eyes from Frisk's rump and taking the opportunity to admire their fancy bedroom, it was filled with a mix of romantic antique furniture and modern, what didn't help his current shy mood was that it was very well dimly lit.
"Like what?" Frisk asked, turning around, a baby scrapbook now in hand, having heard him and now genuinely curious.
He froze and blushed, all thoughts from his head emptying, "I don't know, uhh… me? I'm the stranger thing and I happened,"
At that, Frisk grinned and chuckled with humor, shaking their head dismissively and handing him the book, coming over to stand next to him.
As he laid eyes on the first picture, he gasped sharply, it was of a tearful Frisk with newborn Saffriel who was warmly swaddled in a blanket in their arms.
"Aww… he's so… small…why is he so small?" he asked, concerned.
"Because newborns usually are," Frisk answered warmly.
He then looked over the rest of the pictures, in most of them, Frisk was crying, thankfully, Saffriel was happy as a clam in every single one.
"He was such a mystery to the other monsters, I mean, there have been plenty of hybrid babies born since you broke the barrier, but since then, none of them have been quite like Saffriel… or so I've been told," Frisk explained.
"I'm guessing it's because his dad is a flower," Flowey mumbled but then eyed Frisk "but never-mind that, what exactly separates him?"
"Well, none of the others can shape shift and heal like he can," they said, "and when I said he can heal 'anything', I meant he can heal monsters, humans, animals, and plants," they then flashed a proud grin "he has the best of all worlds,"
He smiled, but then thought of something, "we should make sure no one takes advantage of his abilities, or worse, have him deal with some nut who claims he's their messiah,"
Frisk nodded firmly "don't worry, I've thought about that too, I made a promise to him that I was going to protect him from those sorts of dangers,"
"I'm making the same promise then, and… heh, we should make sure we don't let the attention go to his head, I'll always love him no matter what he does, but I do NOT want him to become a spoiled brat, I forbid it," he said, completely serious.
"Oh, that's good, I agree!" Frisk said and then grabbed a nearby notepad and pencil, "I should write this down….mmm.. 'keep him humble',"
"Ah, yes, the polite way of saying it," he said, chuckling.
After an hour, Frisk and Flowey had created a two-page list for themselves on how to raise their child, both promising to stick to it.
They, of course, would learn later on that their list would be harder to follow than they thought...
Frisk laughed softly to themselves, "this has been really fun, I'm so happy we finally got some proper free time to spend alone,"
"Well, you do have a whole gang of babysitters to take care of him…," Flowey said, trying to give them a hint.
Frisk caught the hint and paused and gave him a curious glance, "do you… want me to call a babysitter?"
At that, Flowey grew bashfully weak at the chance of getting to be actually alone with Frisk and hopefully work up the nerve to flirt with them and be honest… but…
He was still too excited to spend time with Saffriel, it was safe to say he was riding the high of being a new dad.
"Maybe… in a few.. weeks? I'd like to get to know my son better first before I hand him over to another monster that will likely make him laugh harder," he admitted.
Frisk smiled and sighed, leaning their head against his gently, making his soul do several back flips.
"I wouldn't worry about that, I can already tell that he really likes you a lot, I know it probably sounds silly, but I think he can recognize himself in you," Frisk explained, casually sliding their hand over his robotic gloved one and holding it.
Flowey was about to open his mouth to say something, probably romantic, but the sounds of Saffriel sniffling tearfully from the baby monitor wiped all of his thoughts and destroyed the mood.
"Golly, this is going to be really difficult," he blurted out.
Frisk chuckled and moved away, getting up, "being a parent usually is, but it has its perks,"
That was not what he was referring to, but they weren't wrong…
He followed them out, finding Saffriel pouting in his crib, his lower lip poking out with sadness.
"Ohh noooo, are you lonely? Moddy is sowwy! Let me make up for it!" Frisk cooed, rushing over to grab up their baby and cuddle them, repeatedly kissing his small face lovingly, effectively cheering him up.
Flowey gazed, watching with high admiration, suddenly realizing then and there of how lucky he was for how his strange life was turning out.
He could have done without all of the tragic parts, but he was thankful despite it all.
Later that evening, as Frisk took a shower, Saffriel found himself gawking at his new flower dad pacing back and forth in his office, for the past few minutes he had been speaking urgently to someone on his cell phone, and he was smiling a lot and sounded happy, so he very likely talking about something very good….
'Maybe I should help?' Saffriel wondered, picking up a block and clumsily holding it up to the side of his head, nowhere near his ear, mimicking his dad, speaking loudly in gibberish.
Flowey saw this and chuckled, "hey, J', my baby is pretending to talk on the phone too,"
"Aww maaaan, that's hella cute, can I speak to him?" Grreth asked.
"That depends, are you fluent in baby talk?" Flowey joked.
"Psshh, you know I am!"
"Okay, I'll put him on then,"
At that, Flowey put his best friend on speaker phone and with his stretched-out his robotic arm, held it out for Saffriel.
"Hellooo, can I speak to a Mr. Saffriel?" Grreth asked.
At this, Saffriel dropped his block in surprise, eagerly taking the opportunity to talk like the adults, reaching for the phone "ah! AH! GABWA!"
Grreth held back his laughter the best he could "yes, hello, I'd like to talk to you about your car's extended warranty,"
Saffriel gasped, what car? He had a few toy cars! "Wh?!"
Flowey begrudgingly laughed, "give him a break, he's not even one yet! Say something nice!"
"I'm just joking, I'm your uncle J.J., it's actually really cool to talk to you little guy, I can't wait to meet the official Seed Of Flowey!"
At that, Saffriel laughed happily, enjoying the tone of voice from his new uncle.
"Please, for my sanity, never refer to him that again," Flowey said, cringing.
"What, I'm only speaking the truth,"
"Whatever, just don't let me hear you repeat that at the party, and…speaking of which, I hear Frisk coming out, I gotta go, I'll see you later," Flowey said.
"See you later!"
Flowey then hung up and put his phone and picked up his child, and happily went rolling off to greet Frisk.
Time seemed to fly and soon, it was Saturday evening and Flowey emotionally was preparing himself as he, Frisk, Saffriel, Asgore, and Toriel walked together into the Saint Jazz cafe.
Tonight, they and the rest of their friends and family were officially celebrating Frisk's birthday, it was going to be fantastic. . .
Once they were in, Papyrus ran up to them happily, then skullted over to Flowey and gave him the biggest hug he had ever given him before, then proceeded to steal Saffriel and then lead them all to a very large table.
Flowey stared in absolute horror as he quickly realized that everyone had come, gawking as he spotted Grreth, Sans, Arnold (San's protege), Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, Blooky, Shyren, Muffet, Mad Mew Mew, Woshua, Aaron, Robin, Monster Kid, Garbine and her parents, Gerson, Hysopp and his mother and siblings, Nice Cream Guy, Bratty and Catty, Burgerpants, Jimmy Hotpants, Lady Garf, Grillby, Doggo, Dogamy and Dogaressa, Greater Dog, Lesser Dog, Glyde, Loren, Small Bird, a few snails, Bob, Clam Girl, Suzy, Ragel, Clam Guy, a few Business Dudes, Fuku Fire, Skateboard Woman, Heats Flamesman, Hot Dog Harpy, a few Vulkins, Dress Lion, Shambling Mass, Hand Receptionist, Nacarat Jester, Scarf Mouse, and just so many more…
"Frisk, is the entire monster population here?" Flowey asked, his voice cracking with anxiety.
"Not the entire population, but maybe half of it, I don't think I even invited most of them, but I am the Ambassador so usually when I call, too many come, I don't mind though, I love them all," they explained, their eyes sparkling happily.
"So…how many know that Saff' is ours?" he asked further, covering his mouth so no one could read his lips.
"Mostly our inner circle knows we're the parents, and the rest have no clue who the mystery dad is, but I guess after they get a good look at you…they'll probably figure it out for themselves," Frisk explained, then eyed Flowey with concern.
"So, all of you have been keeping me a secret?" Flowey asked, somewhat surprised.
"You didn't want to be found Asriel, so I respected your wish, if I had told them who the dad was and that he had ran away, they would have tried to hunt you down for me," Frisk further explained.
At that, Flowey didn't know what to say.
"...But now that you're here, do you want them to know?" they asked, a glint of hope glittering in their eyes.
But he didn't get a chance to answer them as he was pushed away and separated from Frisk when they were suddenly greeted and surrounded by a group of excited younger monsters who appeared to be huge fans.
"I'll check on the kid, Ambassador Frisk!" Flowey called to them, holding back his laughter.
"Thank you, Mr. Body Guard!" Frisk called back, giving him the 'A-OK' signal.
Chuckling, Flowey finally met his friends at the table, all of them were playing with Saffriel, trying to entertain him and make him laugh, a few waiting impatiently for cuddles.
Then, abruptly, Flowey was bulldozed with a force so great that he was forcibly uprooted from his potbot.
He blacked out for nearly a second, waking up and finding himself on the floor, the left side of his head and face soaring with pain, the world around him moving in a terrible haze...
"WHOA!" a collective crowd of monsters shouted in surprise "Robin! Calm down!" he heard someone shout.
Robin?! Oh…no…
Flowey blinked, panicking as the young woman suddenly filled his dizzy vision, she was glaring down at him with intense anger.
Nervously, he didn't dare move as he watched as she got down on her knees and leaned over to meet him at eye level.
"That, was for breaking Frisk's heart and stealing my soul for stupid reasons, you stupid boy," she growled through her teeth.
He was about to apologize when suddenly she picked him up and held him into her arms, hugging him just a little too tightly.
"And THIS! This is for coming BACK AND STAYING!" she said, daring to squeeze harder, it was painful.
He coughed and wheezed, almost convinced she was trying to kill him, but he hugged back anyway.
"I'm so sorry Robin! Can you let go? I can't breathe!" he managed to wheeze out.
"Please?! I need him," he heard Frisk add with great worry, almost desperately.
At that, Robin laughed and handed his nearly limp body back to Frisk, "yeah, he's all yours, I'm sorry for stealing the show, everything literally turned red when I saw him and I really needed to get that out of my system,"
"I understand," Flowey managed to say as he caught his breath.
"Nothing to see here folks! Go back to your appetizers!" he heard Undyne call to the other monsters.
Flowey then instinctively leaned into Frisk for protection as Monster Kid walked over to their fiance.
"Feel better?" Monster Kid asked Robin sweetly, handing her a drink.
"Yeah! I punched him with the engagement ring!" she said cheerfully, showing said ring off.
"Whoa! Nice job, Robbie!" they said with a proud grin.
"I think... she nearly killed me, but I think I can stand another hit, so...do you need to hit me too or can we call a truce?," Flowey sincerely asked Monster Kid.
They looked at him carefully and slowly smiled "mmm, after seeing that gnarly good punch and hearing everything you went through, I think you got what deserved dude, let's call a truce,"
Both Flowey and Frisk let out a sigh of relief.
"Thanks, MK, although…I completely understand if you and Robin don't want to be friends with me anymore," he said.
Monster Kid shook their head and smiled sadly, "we'll talk about this later dude, just enjoy yourself for now, oh… and congratulations on Saffriel, he's a cool baby,"
"Isn't he?!" Flowey agreed proudly, then glanced to Frisk gratefully and down to his potbot as they returned him back into it.
"Thanks," he whispered, then remembered with embarrassment that he was supposed to be Frisk's bodyguard "please don't count this on my record, it's literally my first day on the job," he joked.
"I won't, and don't worry, I'll make sure to get you some proper training, before you know it, you'll be professionally bodyguarding in no time," Frisk said and giggled softly.
After that, Flowey was free to talk to his other friends, all the while keeping an eye on his son and Frisk.
He chatted with J.J, Papyrus, and Sans for a while, then saw Alphys- who was showing him her current favorite anime with her phone, cheerfully info-dumping to him.
"What do you think of him?" he asked, sneaking up behind her.
Alphys jumped and laughed shyly, looking up at Flowey, "I think he's the most amazing thing I've ever seen!"
He grinned mischievously, lowering his voice "you know you're technically his science grandma, right?"
At that, Alphys did a double-take between him and Saffriel, "I… well.. um… you're not wrong…but I really rather not be called a..uh.. grandma,"
"Too late, science mom, you're his science grandma," he teased playfully, winking at her.
At this, she had no choice but to laugh, surprising him as she took off her glasses to wipe tears from her eyes.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Uh, yeah… I actually am…I'm just happy is all, really happy," she said, putting her glasses back on.
She then motioned to his son, "you might need him by the way, you're getting a nasty bruise,"
"You're absolutely right, if I had an actual jaw, I'm certain Robin would have knocked it off," Flowey said and picked up his son, holding him close.
"Alright you, I need you to give me one of those disgusting slobber kisses again, I hope you don't mind," he asked him with playful humor, allowing his son to excitedly grab onto his face, wincing and pursing his lips closed.
As Saffriel clumsily smacked his toothless and gummy wet mouth onto his father's cheek, Flowey heard at least a hundred simultaneous 'aaaaww's' from across the cafe, the feeling of uncomfortable embarrassment creeping in...
Flowey gave himself some space as soon as his son's healing powers began to work and the pain began to fade, pulling Saffriel fully away.
Reaching up to his face to wipe away the slobber, he paused as he realized in horror what he had done.
Immediately feeling incredibly guilty for even being embarrassed, Flowey hugged Saffriel back to him, cuddling him. "thank you, Saffy, I'm feeling better already,"
In response, Saffriel gazed back at him with big doe eyes and then smiled big.
At this, an overabundant amount of joy-filled Flowey's heart and he smiled back and proceeded to tickle his baby, making an absurdly funny face, trying to make him giggle.
At the positive affection, Saffriel squealed happily, then proceeded to once again shape shift his head into... the shape of a flower…
And suddenly, as the surrounding monsters witnessed this loving scene, it finally clicked.
Flowey looked from his son to the crowd, stunned as he saw their stares and heard their not-so-silent whispers…
"Wait… is Flowey…the dad..?"
"I think he's the baby's dad…,"
"Wait- they look exactly alike!"
"So…if he's the dad…and the Ambassador…,"
"Does that mean he and the Ambassador are dating?!"
"Where has he been?"
"Oh my gosh, did they really…?"
"Where did he go?"
"But… how?"
Then, suddenly, Frisk was there by his side, "so…um… they're figuring it out, it happened faster than I thought it would, what do you want to do? You can leave if you want, I understand if this is too hard for you," they whispered, locking eyes with him, they were completely serious, he could see they were trying so hard to stay calm and not cry.
They were still as scared as he was.
"No, this is beyond hard, but I'm not leaving, I'm never leaving again," he said firmly, then reached down and held Frisk's hand with a vine "I promised you, remember?"
Frisk's mouth dropped and their golden eyes sparkled, gazing at him, completely perplexed and full of wonder.
But before he could say something, there was a terrible screeching sound from the speakers on the stage and everyone in the building turned to look.
Standing there, was Undyne with a mic in her hand.
"HEY!" she shouted, "NO GOSSIPING ABOUT THE AMBASSADOR or their BODY GUARD FLOWER! It's their BIRTHDAY PARTY and you all are being RUDE! So what if baby Saffriel looks exactly like the Body Guard?! IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! Now, all of you SHUT YOUR FACES, PUT FOOD INTO YOUR FACES, AND BE NICE! I SWEAR, IF I CATCH ANY MORE OF YOU GOSSIPING, I'M GIVING YOU AN OVERNIGHT TICKET TO A JAIL CELL!"
With that, she dropped the mic dramatically and stomped off.
To which Papyrus happily ambled up and neatly put the mic back up, then waved to the crowd "THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION! WE WILL PERFORMING MUSIC IN FIVE MINUTES!" he announced and skuttled off.
The building was silent for a moment, but then someone coughed uncomfortably, and everything went back to normal and the gossiping simply… ceased.
Flowey and Frisk rushed over to Undyne and nearly knocked her over as they both hugged her with relentless gratitude.
"Thank you so much! You have no idea how much that means to us!" Frisk said.
"It's no problem, I'll do it again if you want, it was kind of fun," she admitted.
"Isn't it? I love yelling on a stage," Frisk said.
"Excuse me?" Flowey asked with a surprised smile.
"Professional karaoke, remember?" they said, flashing him a cheesy grin.
"Alright Wingus and Dingus, I have things to do, jail tickets to give, there's no way they're not gossiping," she said, dismissing herself from their grip and walking off.
"Eheheh, remember the 'fun police'?" Frisk whispered to Flowey.
He chuckled "how could I ever forget,"
They smiled warmly, "let's sit down already, I noticed you haven't ordered any food yet,"
"Don't worry, I'm going to eat, I just wanted to catch up with everyone real quick," Flowey replied.
They took a table next to Toriel who was currently feeding Saffriel baby food, too enamored with her grandson to even notice them.
"So… you've been making my heart leap lately," Frisk whispered to Flowey, leaning close by his side.
"Good, I've been trying to impress you, I'm glad it's working," he said, grinning, then sighed, becoming bashful, "and…you've… never stopped making my heart leap,"
At that, Frisk looked down at the table, pursing their lips and inhaling deeply through their nose, sighing.
"Wow… staying just friends has been…so much harder than I thought it was going to be," they said shyly.
"I've…been wanting to talk you about that, I-," he began but was interrupted as Papyrus came over.
"IT'S TIME! ARE YOU READY?" he asked.
At that, Flowey grinned big at Papyrus, "depends, do you guys have my guitar?"
"WE DO!"
"Great! Then I'm ready!" Flowey said and then got up from his seat.
"Flowey, you're singing a song?!" Frisk exclaimed with surprise.
"Yeah!" he said, rolling off to the stage, trying his hardest to ignore his nervous anxiety.
Frisk looked to Toriel, "did you know about this?"
"No, I did not! I wonder what he has in store?" she said, then looked down to Saffriel, "do you know anything about this?"
Saffriel laughed, as he actually did in fact, know, but he did not have the ability to tell.
Before Flowey got onto the stage, he took a deep breath, cleared his thoughts, and then slowly exhaled.
Then, he put on his best face, situated his old black guitar, and stood in front of the mic.
"This song is for Frisk Dreemurr Bulalacao, that's Filipino for 'shooting star', which is exactly what they are,"
He put all his focus on Frisk and smiled as he saw them gaze back in wonder.
Then, he cleared his throat and began playing a very familiar melody, one that both he and his love knew very well by heart. . .
"The other night dear, as I lay sleeping, I dreamed I held you in my arms, when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken…so I bowed my head and I cried…
You are my starshine, my only starshine, you make me happy when skies are gray, you'll never know, dear, how much I love you, please don't take my starshine away~
I've always loved you and made you happy and will be there for you, I'll protect you from harm's way, 'cause I adore you, you're my dream come true, you're my beautiful starshine~
You are my starshine, my only starshine, I would be lost without you, please… oh please, take me back, you'll never know, dear, how much I love you, please don't take my starshine away~,"
Flowey wiped his tearful eyes, pulling his attention away from Frisk and onto the crowd...
"..And... yes, to answer your questions, I am the father of baby Saffriel, if any of you have a problem with it, take it up to me…or Undyne, preferably Undyne, I have better things to do," he said.
But just as he was about to roll away, he stopped and looked back at the crowd as they cheered and clapped loudly for him.
"Encore! Encore! Encore!" Burgerpants chanted.
"THANK YOU! BUT I SAID! I HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO!" he shouted, stunning the crowd, and with that, hastily rolled off, making a beeline for Frisk.
"THANK YOU FLOWEY! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DISPLAY OF TRUE LOVE! NOW TO PLAY THE LIVE BAND THAT WAS ORIGINALLY SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYING!" Papyrus announced.
When he got to Frisk, he found them sobbing uncontrollably, hiding their face with their hands, happily or sadly, he wasn't quite sure, possibly both.
Toriel was attempting to comfort them, but not quite getting through.
Flowey nervously sat next to them, "are you…okay? Did you like the song?"
"I loved it! It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard!" they sobbed out "it's just so hard! I want you back so bad, but I'm so scared!"
Flowey swallowed a nervous lump in his throat "… scared of what?"
They then dropped their hands and looked at him pleadingly, "of losing you again! I don't know how things are going to turn out for us, it's already so dangerous that we have Saffy, but if we dated…or even officially married, we could end up like Miranda and Ranty!"
At that, Flowey summoned a few vines and held Frisk's face gently, "but you have the Power, you'll never let us stay dead, and neither will I, remember?"
Frisk desperately held onto his vines, and sniffled, "but what if something worse than death happens? What if something happens that I can't fix?"
At that, he closed his eyes and touched his forehead to theirs, allowing them to lean against him.
"It's okay, because I'll be right next to you, and you'll be next to me, we will get through it Frisk, nothing will ever tear us apart ever again, I pinky promise," he said, holding out one of his vines, to which they gazed at, mystified.
Without a word, Frisk hooked their pinky around the vine, bursting into a new set of tears, and smiled happily, "I love you so much!"
"I love you so much, too," he said, nuzzling his face against theirs affectionately and they joyfully nuzzled back, cuddling their faces together.
They then sighed with relief and breathed him in, "oh my goodness, I missed how good you smell, it's always made me feel so much better,"
"I missed touching you, I missed everything about you," he whispered, wrapping his vines around them.
"Then touch me, babe, give me all of your love and never hold back on me," Frisk said in a honey warm voice.
Unable to hold himself back anymore, he pulled them closer into his arms and kissed them, in public, in front of everyone.
And…
To his relief…Flowey didn't feel as afraid as thought he would.
It was actually hard to feel afraid as Frisk kissed him back, pulling him even closer as they held the back of his head, making him sigh as they caressed his petals, a feeling he didn't realize he had missed so badly until now.
They then inched back slightly, "this is me saying that we're dating again, okay? I want to date the heck out of you, forever and ever,"
Kiss~
"Then I guess you won't mind if I asked you to marry me like we planned, would you?" Flowey asked.
Kiss, kiss, kiss~
"I deeeffinitely don't mind, I prefer it really, let's things back on track baby~," Frisk replied
Kissss, kiss, kiss, kiss~
"Good, because I'm going to marry the heck out of you, and we're going to be happy forever and ever," Flowey said, and then began to kiss their jaw and then their neck.
"hi kids," Sans said, suddenly appearing nearby.
"AH!" Flowey screamed in alarm, panicking as finally remembered where they were, his entire head completely orange.
"Ah!" Saffriel mimicked joyfully.
"Sans! You buzzkill!" Frisk snapped, now frustrated, Flowey however laughed nervously.
"sorry, i'm just here to put a pause on this pda because you guys are freaking everyone out," he explained.
"What?" Frisk questioned, looking over to their friends, who were all pretending that they weren't watching (except for J.J. and Mettaton who were clapping proudly and loudly for them)
"In which way are they freaked out? Is it good freaking, or bad freaking?" they asked.
"it's good, they support you two, but you're moving too fast for them, they're legitimately afraid you're going to end up boning on the table and they feel…what's the word…,"
"...disgusted?" Flowey asked hesitantly, nearly whispering.
"no, just awkward," Sans answered bluntly.
"Whoops! They're probably right to be, we were practically devouring each other," Frisk half-joked and turned back and waved at their friends, "sorry! We're just in love is all! We'll tone it down- for now, that is!"
"WOWIE!" Papyrus cheered.
They then looked over at Flowey, instantly becoming concerned.
Flowey was shaking and crying, covering most of his face with his gloved hands.
"Babe, are you okay? Is this too much for you?" they asked gently.
At that, Flowey put his hands down, revealing that he was actually laughing harder than he had in years, he was so incredibly happy.
"Oh!" Frisk said with pleasant surprise.
"I'm really doing it, I'm literally really doing…everything I was afraid of!" he managed to say between his laughter, "I'm doing everything that I was scared of doing!"
He then looked to Frisk, "and you want to know something? It isn't as bad as thought it would be!"
Frisk grinned back proudly, kissing his cheek "you're right, this is actually pretty great, I kind of like how they're all staring…,"
Flowey beamed with love "you adorable little freak,"
Then, he noticed J.J. approaching, "oh, speaking of staring, Frisk, I'd like you to finally meet-,"
"J.J.! Our pizza boy! I'd recognize your face anywhere!" Frisk chirped "it's nice to meet you!" they said, reaching out to shake his slime hand.
At that, J.J. blushed and grinned, shyly shaking Frisk's hand, "it's even nicer to meet you, Ambassador," he replied.
"Calm down, J'," Flowey said under his breath, amused, still, he crossed his robot arms.
At that, J.J. laughed awkwardly and took his hand back, "sorry, I just heard a lot of good things about you, Ambassador,"
Frisk grinned, holding back their own giggle, "you can relax, and please, call me Frisk, you're already on my best friend list for helping Flowey out and being so nice to him," their smile then widened, "actually, come here,"
Frisk then opened their arms and pulled J.J. into a hug, not seeming bothered by his moist texture, and effectively happily stunning the slime monster.
Flowey couldn't help but snicker at J.J. expression as he timidly hugged Frisk back.
Once they were finished, Frisk nodded with affirmation, "I was right about you,"
"...About what?"
"You're a neat slime guy,"
"I always assumed he always was one," Flowey replied with a chuckle.
J.J. sighed happily, "I love you guys," but then he blinked with confusion, "Flowey, dude, I don't want to alarm you dude, but there is a little curly blond kid who is stalking you,"
Flowey's eyes widened with alarm and he turned around sharply within his potbot, seeing a face he wasn't sure he would ever see again.
But there they were, a green hoodie and everything, staring right back at him.
"Finley!" Flowey cried out.
"Finley?" Frisk echoed curiously.
At that, the kid smiled and ran up to him, "Zack!"
"Zack?" Frisk echoed, even more curious now, watching in further surprise as Flowey picked the child up and held him up in the air with glee, also catching Finley off guard and laughing loudly.
"Who's this, dude? Do you have another prodigy we don't know about?" J.J. asked.
At that, Flowey chuckled and put Finley down, "no, Finley already has parents, they're just a kid I made friends with right before I got caught in that flood,"
At that, Frisk's eyes lit up and they knelt down to Finley's height, "hi, it's really nice to meet you, Finley, my name is Frisk,"
The kid smiled shyly, "it's… nice to meet you too, are you… um…..," they then looked up to Flowey, raising their eyebrows for affirmation.
Flowey rolled his eyes in good humor, "yeah, Frisk is the ex I didn't like to talk about, but it's okay, we're back together now and we're happy,"
Frisk smiled and nodded, "we're very happy," they bragged.
Finley's smile grew brighter at that, "that's good, Zack always seemed really cranky and sad, thank you for making him happy again,"
"It's all in a day's work, but, Finley? Can I ask you why you call him Zack?" Frisk asked curiously.
"He said he didn't have one, so he let me pick one out for him," Finley explained.
"My dad must have met you, didn't he tell you my real name?" Flowey asked further.
"Yeah, but I want to call you Zack, I hope you don't mind,"
Flowey sighed at that, "yeah, it's fine, call me whatever you want, do what makes you happy,"
After eating their birthday dinner and blowing out the candles on their gigantic chocolate cake, Frisk brought Flowey over to Papyrus.
"HEY, LOVE BIRDS! HOW IS IT GOING?" he asked.
"Great! I have something important that I've been meaning to tell you, do you have a minute?" Frisk asked.
"I HAVE EXACTLY TEN MINUTES, JUST FOR THE BIRTHDAY AMBASSADOR!"
"Good, now, do you remember when I was a kid,-"
"YES,"
"-and you told me that I would someday find someone as great as you?"
"YES,"
"Well, I've been meaning to tell you, but for the longest time, but I did! I found Flowey!"
Papyrus gasped loudly "FLOWEY IS YOUR SECOND BEST?"
"FLOWEY IS MY SECOND BEST!" Frisk confirmed cheerfully, high-fiving Papyrus.
"Wait? What do you mean 'second best'? Who's the 'first best'?" he asked, completely confused.
"Papyrus is!" Frisk said, giving him a cheesy grin.
Flowey looked at the skeleton and smiled, "you're right, he is,"
"NYEH HEH HEH!"
Later on that evening…
Frisk and Flowey had just tiptoed from Saffriel's office, he was sound asleep and now they had the night to themselves…
Frisk gave their arms a good stretch, "oh, man, that had to be the best birthday party I've ever had, it's too bad I'm exhausted," they then smiled to Flowey flirtatiously, "I'd be inviting you to a make-out party if I wasn't,"
Flowey snickered happily at that, rolling behind Frisk, casually massaging their shoulders- automatically causing them to let out a very pleased sound.
"It's okay, we've got plenty of time for more make-out parties," he said, "by the way, now that we're dating again, am I still sleeping on the couch until you're-,"
"Oh heck no, you're sleeping with me, I've missed my bed buddy like crazy," they replied quickly, looking over their shoulder at him, their expression full of certainty.
A large wave of emotion hit Flowey and an immense feeling of relief filled him and he sighed happily, moving his robot body to embrace Frisk from behind, his long metal arms wrapping around their body, and smooshing his face against the back of their head, the bristles from the shaved half tickling his face.
"I've missed you so much, call me spoiled, but I've despised sleeping alone, if you even call what I've been doing sleeping," he said quietly.
Frisk didn't immediately respond, going silent for a moment before he felt and heard them sob, they then twisted around in his arms to hold him properly.
"I understand, the others… the other lovers, I thought they would help, I thought it would feel the same, but it was never was,"
He snuggled them closer, rubbing their back, "it's alright, Frisky, we've got each other back…,"
At that, Frisk gave him a kiss and happily kissed back, laughing.
"You taste like birthday cake," he giggled tearfully, licking his lips.
"You taste like spider tea," Frisk giggled back.
The couple became calmly quiet, resting their foreheads together. . .
Frisk raised their hand, gently caressing Flowey's cheek, "…did you ever try to date again?"
He scoffed in amusement at the question, "I made a couple of friends, but dating was the farthest thing from my mind… although….,"
"...Yesss?" Frisk perked up, playfully curious.
"...When I was trying to make money, I would sometimes flirt with some of the more attractive audience members," he admitted with a shy smile.
"Yesss! That's what I'm talking about babe, did you do your wink?"
"Of course I did,"
"Heck yeah, how was the feedback?"
"Usually positive, surp-,"
Frisk urgently shook their head "don't say 'surprisingly', you're a hot, hot, tall, dark, and sexy monster man, accept it,"
Flowey cracked a laugh that would have been much louder, but he remembered that some people were sleeping.
"I'm still not certain about that, but I'll take your compliment,"
"It wasn't a compliment, it was the cold, hard, full unadulterated truth," they answered confidentially, then graciously slapped another smooch on him.
"Alright, I'm going to get ready for bed, what are you going to do?" Frisk asked, sliding their arms from the hug, but stopping short to hold his hands.
"Uh, hm," Flowey began, looking around, then back to Frisk, "I guess I'll go wash up real quick and brush my teeth, I'm sure my tongue is still spider colored,"
Frisk smiled, giving Flowey a few more kisses, one on the lips, two on both his cheeks and one on his forehead, then another one on his lips again.
"Alright~ I'll see you in my sleeping chamber," they said in a smooth voice, winked, and parted with him.
They were definitely trying to seduce him, he could feel it in his plant bones, although, they didn't really need to try at all, he was simply waiting until they were completely ready.
As he turned to roll off to the bathroom, Flowey found it was very hard to stop smiling.
That was until he flicked on the lights, closed the door behind him, and looked at himself in the mirror, staring in shock at the furry white monster in the reflection.
He was quite tall, just as tall as Asgore, he had two sharp horns, kind but tired dark sparkling scarlet red eyes, and he wore a fashionable black suit- the best kind for a party, he was very handsome, maybe even sexy.
Flowey leaned forward slowly, cautiously, absolutely gobsmacked as the monster copied him.
"Is that…," he began to speak, backing up in shock as the monster spoke his words, then becoming just as shocked.
Had he…had he changed? Was he finally normal again?!
As he dared to hope, shakily, hesitantly, Flowey looked down, then winced, squeezing his eyes shut as the hope was instantly crushed and his heart sank hard as he only saw his potbot, and his large golden petals.
"It's your true form," a familiar voice spoke next to him.
Flowey looked up, scowling viciously at Chara, hot tears blinding his vision as anger built up inside of him.
"You're cruel, you know that? You just can't stand that I'm alive and happier than you," Flowey sobbed.
"Quite the opposite, you fool, I'm intensely proud of what you accomplished," Chara replied calmly.
"Then WHY? Why the HELL would you play a trick on me like that?! You know how I feel!" Flowey cried, pointing at the mirror aggressively.
"I…apologize… I wanted to give you hope and show you that it's not impossible, or truly 'illegal' to get your true form back," they announced, a second of guilt passing over their face.
Flowey glared in confusion at Chara, crossing his arms stubbornly "I'm not stealing any more souls, or even borrowing any, I refuse to have a single more human soul inside this body,"
"You won't need them, someday, I don't know when, your soul is going to completely heal and then, you'll be able to find a way to reform again," they said, smiling warmly, "I think it will come sooner if you allow Frisk and Saffriel to help you with the use of their souls,"
Flowey blinked, back to being gobsmacked, "…but…how…?"
At that, Chara shrugged, "I have no singular clue, that's for you three to figure out, just don't be afraid to let them help,"
He sighed at that, then cracked a smile, "thanks, this news actually gives me a lot of hope,"
Chara nodded firmly, "good, it should, I've also come to tell you that I've finally untethered myself from your soul, I have been since we healed it at the swamp,"
Flowey gasped, "so…that means you decided to continue to follow me anyway? Why did you do that?"
Chara grinned and shrugged once more, "I had to look out for my dumb brother,"
At that, Flowey grinned as well, the tears returning to his eyes, "I'm glad you stayed, even though you threatened my sanity,"
"All in a day's work, which is now over, you have Frisk, mom, dad, and so many friends, I don't think you really need me anymore," they said, their red eyes sparkling.
Flowey's grin dropped, sadness running through him like water "what do you mean? I'll always need you, I always have,"
Chara looked away briefly, quiet for a moment before looking back, "…and I'll always need you as well, but there is another that I think needs me now,"
His brows raised up as he realized, "you're going to watch over Saffriel…,"
Chara nodded firmly once again, "correct, dummy, while I realize that he has you, Frisk, and his grandparents and so many others, I worry about his future, there's literally no one else like him on earth, and you and I both know what that is like,"
Flowey sighed wearily, "I'm worried too, so, I'll happily accept your help, he's going to need a good guardian angel looking after him,"
Chara scoffed at the comment, "just don't use this to slack off in your parenting, I will happily ruin your entire life if you allow anything bad to happen to him,"
Flowey scoffed back, "I can't believe you would even bring something like that up, I'd risk my life for Saffriel,"
His ghost sibling smiled big at that, almost too big, "good, that is exactly what I like to hear, now, I better let you go, Frisk is waiting on you,"
Flowey gave a hard smile "will I ever see you again?"
"Maybe, I don't know, depends on what happens, it usually depends on my mood," they replied playfully, "but just in case you don't, why don't you go find your locket and keep it close for a change? A piece of both of us in it,"
"But I don't want to ruin it, I-,"
Chara stopped him mid-sentence, holding up their hand "no more excuses, Asriel, it's okay to hold on to me and my memory, even the worse ones, I understand I won't be there in person, but I'll be there,"
They then smiled tearfully, "now, go, stay alive, and don't forget yourself again,"
Then, slowly, Chara faded from sight and Flowey was alone in the bathroom again.
Letting out a heavy sigh, he looked back to the mirror, his breath catching as he saw his true form once more in the mirror, and then-
He blinked, and he was Flowey again.
"Don't forget yourself again," he whispered to himself, rubbing the return of tears that blinded him, stubbornly reaching for his toothbrush and the toothpaste.
A few months later…
Saffriel had been cranky lately due to the fact that he was teething, it seemed not much would calm him- which in turn, made Flowey cranky.
However, Frisk knew precisely what to do, grabbing a blanket and gathering the father and son and brought them to their favorite park.
Saffriel continued fussing, that was until they arrived and he was given an icy cold teething toy and grazed by the gentle breeze and was warmed up by the summer rays and got a good long look around at the green, enormous park- he quieted down instantly, completely relaxed, it seemed to have a tranquilizer effect on the little hybrid baby.
"There we go, that's much better," Frisk said, gently petting his soft hair.
Flowey chuckled and sipped on a bottled drink, "well, what do you know, he really is just like me," he then paused, "…hopefully not completely like me,"
Frisk smiled and then turned their attention to the Magnolia tree off in the distance, and sighed happily as they admired the statue of young Asriel Dreemurr in front of it.
"One day, when Saffy is older, I'd like to take him up into our tree," they said.
"That's a great idea, hopefully he won't have my fear of heights too," Flowey said with a smile.
Frisk then looked to Flowey, "after we get married, how do you feel about eventually adopting a baby?"
He raised his brows at that, "..I… don't feel bad about it, it's a nice idea actually, but…," he then looked to Saffriel, who had fallen into a peaceful sleep "isn't he enough?"
Frisk smiled warmly "he's more than enough, but we also have room to grow and I'd really like to give a child the same chance I got,"
He grinned at that, "okay, you've convinced me, let's adopt a baby,"
At that, Frisk leaned against him happily, "thank you, I can't wait until I meet them,"
"Me too,"
The young couple was silent for a moment, basking in their peace.
"Hey, babe… if you had the chance to do a hard reset and do everything all over again, even the bad stuff, would you?" they asked.
Flowey paused, thinking it over, but quickly came to answer.
"Only if it brings me back to you, just like this," he said.
At that, Flowey won 10,000,00 Frisk points as his love caught him off guard, embraced him tightly, and kissed him passionately.
It was then that Flowey was finally certain of one thing, and it was that he was truly winning at the strange, perplexing, terrifying, and beautiful game he called his life.

So slowly, a sunlit dream pulls me out of sleep
Feel the morning through the blinds, I get to thinkin' 'bout your sunkissed face
And a quiet place, I could give you all my time
You know I wanna be your rock, my love, you know I wanna be your light
In darkness, how you find me just in time to tell me what I needed to hear
So if you don't know what you need, you can leave it all to me
I don't want you worried 'bout a thing, I know you'd do the same for me
'Cause you're so lovely, you're so lovely
I can't help but fall for you, love, when you love me
It's so lovely loving you, oh-oh, oh-oh
So lovely loving you, oh-oh, oh-oh
So softly, a tender breeze brush against my knees
On a summer afternoon, I get to thinkin' 'bout the hazy days
Under August shade that I used to spend with you
I didn't realize it was all I wanted, what I had
My riddled heart, I had to cradle back together just to see
It's all like magic to me, you do magic, baby
When you love me you're so lovely
I can't help but fall for you, love, when you love me
So slowly, a sunlit dream pulls me out of sleep
Feel the morning through the blinds
I turn my head to meet your sunkissed face
In this quiet place, I can give you all my time
