Chapter 16-Saving the world

Suddenly Loki and I were back in New York, and I could breathe again. But, you know, when the man who just said he loved me (Ha! Had an odd way of showing it) life and my life were just threatened, it's kinda hard to focus on the good things! I heard the rage-filled roar of Hulk. That wasn't good! Loki let me down but I refused to let go of him,"The beast is headed this way," Loki murmured," You should go-"

I cut him off by grabbing his collar roughly," Loki... I need to know...what was real back there. Were you being serious? And, if you really do love me- why do you have a really shitty way of showing it."

Loki flinched," Nicole... I had to act cold to you... Even if it pained me to do it. I didn't want them to know that I had feelings for you and use you against me. If I proved to them that you had no meaning to me they would not harm you. I took your wolves away because I knew that would be something they never would have expected me to do. I know it was wrong of me, everything I did. There is no excuse for it," His expression hardened,"But now I will protect you.

"Good Luck with that," I muttered,"I've been told I'm too head strong," I pulled Loki into a rough kiss. About two minutes later I murmured into his shoulder,"But let's get one thing straight. After this is all over- You, Me, Thor, and anyone else- MAJOR Group Therapy."

Loki chuckled lightly, "I highly doubt that this 'Group Therapy' will happen Nicole."

"I will CHAIN you and your brother to the chairs if I have to!"

Loki lightly traced my cheeks,"I know what you are doing."

"...And that would be?"

"Stalling."

"Stalling? Who's stalling? I'm not stalling! Why would I be stalling-"

"Enough," Loki said in a stern tone,"Your sister is about to emerge from the emergency stairs any moment. I want both of you to head up to the roof. Work with Selvig to shut down the portal."

"How exactly?"

"Your spider friend knows."

"When did Spider-Man get here?" Loki shot me a look of confusion.

The emergency stair-case door was thrown open and to my surprise Lana- not Kat- ran in,"Alright Nicole! You need to get the heck outta dodge!"

I held onto Loki,"I can't! I can't leave you!"

But, Lana was already pulling me away. Towards the stairs. Away from Loki!

Two minutes later, Hulk roared as he smashed threw the windows. Kat was on his back and she jumped off, and stood before Loki,"You are so dead! You'll pay for all the torment you caused my sister!"

Loki stood up from where he had fallen after their entrance,"Stop, I just saved your sister's life. I love her," Hulk roared and hit the ground with his fists,"I am a god you dull creature! And I will not be bullied-"

Hulk had enough of him. He picked up Loki and did something that many people have always wanted to do. Hulk threw Loki down on the ground then lifted him in an arc and slammed him into the concrete.

Hulk started to walk away and Kat followed him,"Puny god."

"totally, I'll need to have a talk with him and Nicole after this," Muttered Kat as she climbed up on Hulk's back,"Now let's finish kicking alien ass!"

Lana and I pushes open the door to the roof. Selvig was typing furiously at his computer,"Dr. Selvig," I called out. He turned to face me.

"Ah, Nicole," he smiled,"I am glad you are here. Perhaps you and Lana can help me and your delightful red-headed friend stop the portal."

So he was out of Loki's control! How wonderful! I smiled,"Where is she? I'm sure we'd be glad to help!"

"Actually..." Lana said,"I kinda have to go check the spell then make sure Grimm, Spikes and Reaper are still holding out okay."

"How will you get there?"

Lana winked,"Hati and I have worked out a deal."

Lana ran over to the edge of the roof and jumped! I gave a small scream and ran up to the edge and looked down. In a flash of silver fur, Hati and Lana breezed by my head. I watched them fly away.

I glanced down, Widow was climbing up the wall with Loki's scepter in her belt,"Aye, Widow!"

The red-headed assassin looked up. Relief spread over her face,"Wolf Guard!"

I leaned down and offered her my hand,"Come on girl! Let's get this over with!"

Nick Fury glared at the panel of men and one lady in front of him,"Fury,"The woman barked,"Did you know that your guardians have set up a force field around New York?"

Fury shifted, he'd seen the footage. He'd known,"Yes. But, clearly, civilians are getting out, our enemies aren't and our men can move into New York."

"Yet this field has no top. Our enemies could simply fly over the walls."

Nick Fury signaled and a video was pulled up,"You sure about that?"

Silver stood on the green energy wall. A alien chariot flew upwards after it had witnessed its comrades fly into the wall. Silver was ready for it. She raised her hands and started chanting,"odin stipend mitt ønske," once they were in range she shouted the spell,"Stanse alt ondt," the chariot froze," Silver raised her arm and then struck her hand down on a diagonal motion,"ødelegge!"

The chariot was destroyed into dust in a flash of green.

The screen split into three. Reaper, Grimm and Spikes all were in their positions straining to hold the walls as aliens hacked away at them. Spikes looked up as a rifle chipped her wall,"Shit!" Hati appeared and quickly used his own magic to patch the wall. Then killed the aliens. Hati flew off as Spike let out a breath of relief.

The video stopped. Fury held a passive look on his face,"Because it seems to me they have it handled.

"Director Fury," one of the men finally said,"This board has reach a decision..."

Widow had her guns, my bow and all the arrows and long pointy things that would be baked to be fired from it. While I was holding Loki's scepter on my hands and Selvig was clacking away at his laptop like a madman. The aliens seemed to have notice that Eric wasn't on their side anymore. Widow shot two as they headed for us,"Doctor! I don't have unlimited bullets!"

Eric looked up from his laptop and nodded,"It's done!"

I took that as my cue and hammed the scepter right where Eric had told me. It bounced a little off of the force field at first, but I kept up the pressure. I gave a yell before I reached for my comm,"I can close it! Can anybody hear me? Widow and I can shut the portal down,"I quickly commed.

" Do it," Captain America yelled over the comm unit.

"No, wait," Tony yelled as I struggled to keep the scepter in the field.

" Stark," Captain exclaimed. Gosh he sounded tired and confused. Speaking of tired my arms were tired! Gosh i guess my adrenaline was wearing off,"these things are still coming!"

" I got a nuke coming in," my stomach dropped to the ground and i almost lost hold of the scepter,"it's gonna blow in less than a minute. And I know just where to put it."
