In the Underworld, adult Chris had finally gotten his younger self to get a little sleep, promising that he would watch out for him. So while little Chris was sleeping, adult Chris paced; thinking; trying to figure out what had happened, and how both versions of himself ended up here. At that moment, one of the evil trio of sisters walked in to the chamber with two demonic guards. "Oh good" Candy said. "You're finally awake." Chris noticed that the two guards were holding trays of what he assumed was supposed to be food for himself and his younger self.
The guards walked over to the cage and then Candy made a gesture with her hand and Chris heard the cage unlock. Now he had a choice to make. Chris realized that they were going to open up the cage door, in order to slide in the trays of food. He looked at his sleeping younger self and debated on what to do. Chris knew he had only seconds to make up his mind. He knew it was very important not only for his own future, but for the future of his family, especially Wyatt, that his younger self get home quickly and safely. But on the other hand, being older, and having more powers and more control over his powers, he would stand a better chance of escaping, and then returning with help to free the little boy.
Chris couldn't believe he had to make this type of choice. He saw the cage door open slightly and knew his time was up, it was now or possibly never. Adult Chris glanced over at his sleeping younger self. "I'll be back with help" he thought. Then adult Chris Orbed out of the cage, making sure to knock the demonic guards to the ground in the process. "No" Candy yelled as she saw him Orbing out. "DON'T JUST LAY THERE YOU FOOLS!" Candy screamed. "GET HIM OR THE SOURCE WILL HAVE YOUR HEADS!" The demonic guards quickly scrambled to their feet, while Candy's mind raced, trying to think of what she could do to stop Chris from escaping. She smiled. If she could stop Chris herself, the Source would surely reward her. But if she did nothing and he got away, the Source would have her head as well as the guard's.
Back at Halliwell Manor, everyone was up in the Attic; Melinda was sitting at a table, holding the scrying crystal above a map. The crystal spun around in her hands and then suddenly dropped. "Oh my God!" Melinda exclaimed. "I got him! Well at least one of them" she said. Piper held her breath, to afraid to hope that they'd finally found her son…both of them.
Chris had managed to Orb himself to the outer chamber before he was tackled to the ground by the guards. "Did you really think you could escape" Candy said, laughing. "You're in the Source's prison. And no one escapes from here. Drag him back to his cell and take away his food." As the guards started to drag Chris back towards the cage, he began fighting to get free. Candy used one of her powers and telekinetically threw a small rock at Chris's head, knocking him out. The guards then quickly dragged him back to the cage.
An hour later, little Chris woke up, and found the older man laying on the floor of the cage. "Wake up please" he pleaded, shaking his adult self. At that same time, Wyatt, Melinda, Piper, Paige, Prue and Leo appeared in the Underworld, in the chamber where the cage had been located. The group began looking around for clues. "Wy, look" Mel said, pointing to the floor. Wyatt walked over to his sister and looked down. "Magical Prison Cage" Wyatt commented. Piper and the others quickly ran over to her children and looked at the floor. She saw nothing. "I don't see anything" she commented. Wyatt and Melinda looked at each other and then quickly realized that their mother and aunts had never come across this magical object before.
"That could be because you don't know what to look for" Wyatt explained. "We've seen this before in our time" Melinda added. "So what are you seeing" Leo asked. "Faint traces of a magical powder" Wyatt said, as he knelt down to examine the dust more closely. He ran his index finger along the trail of dust that apparently only he and Mel could see and then held his finger up so he could get a closer look. "Mel check it out" he said, holding his finger out. Melinda looked closely and then nodded. "Black powder" she replied, to which Piper's eyes widened in horror. "Black powder? As in gun powder?! Someone has my baby trapped in a cage made from gun powder?!" She exclaimed, clearly getting angry and panicking.
"No Mom" Wyatt said as he sniffed the powder on the tip of his finger. "Eww" Paige remarked, causing everyone to chuckle. "I wouldn't say that if I were Aunt Paige" Mel said smiling. "You're the one who will teach us this trick someday." Paige looked ill, which made everyone chuckle….it felt good to laugh; it had been so long since any of them, especially Piper had found anything worthy of laughing at. "It's a magical black powder. Mainly used in evil magic" Wyatt told his family. "What type of evil magic" Prue asked. "A certain spell or potion?"
Melinda shook her head. "No. To be honest we've never been able to pin this powder down to a certain use. It seems to just be used in powerful spells or potions or powerful magic in general" she said. "Yeah" Wyatt said, sighing. "I can't believe I'm gonna say this but I think we need Aunt Phoebe." Melinda looked at her brother and nodded; she knew what he was thinking. "Premonition" she said, to which Wyatt nodded his head. "I'll go get her" Paige said. While Paige was gone, the group continued to search the room.
Just as Paige was returning, with Phoebe and Cole, who had refused to let Phoebe come alone. Prue picked a small toy jack up off the floor. "Look" she said, holding the object up for everyone to see. "A toy jack" Leo questioned. Piper's eyes widened. "Chris" she said softly. "He was here. At least my little Chris was." "Piper" Leo said, trying to caution his wife about getting her hopes up. "Don't Piper me Leo, how else would a child's toy like that be down here in the Underworld, near some mysterious magical black powder used for powerful evil magic." Piper said.
Spotting Phoebe, Wyatt led her over to where the traces of magical powder were and guided her hand down towards it so she could touch the spot. "Try and get a premonition Aunt Phoebe" he said. "We're almost sure that at least little Chris was here." "We know he was here" Piper said, correcting her son. Phoebe nodded and then closed her eyes and began to concentrate. "I hope this works" she said softly. "Please let me get a premonition."
Meanwhile, little Chris woke up and found himself in a new place. At first he got excited, thinking that while he was sleeping his Mommy and Aunts had rescued him. But that excitement quickly faded away when he saw the man named Chris, that he'd met earlier laying on the ground. The little boy climbed off the cot he'd been sleeping on and ran over to the other Chris and began shaking his shoulder. "Hey, wake up."
Little Chris began to panic, wishing he could heal like his brother. "Come on, wake up please. I'm scared." The little boy looked up towards the ceiling and then loudly yelled "AUNTIE PAIGE! MOMMY! SOMEBODY HELP!"
Back at the chamber where the two Chris's had been being held, Phoebe was desperately trying to get a premonition. While she was doing that, both Piper and Paige stiffened. Piper instantly began looking around the room. "Piper what's wrong" Prue asked. "I swore I heard Chris calling for Mommy just now" Piper answered. Paige's eyes widened. "Me too. I swore I heard him calling for me." Just then Phoebe gasped, and the three sisters knew what that meant.
"What did you see Pheebs" Prue asked. "They were here" Phoebe sad. "Chris tried to escape…" "Escape" Piper exclaimed. "He's just a little boy!" "No Piper" Phoebe said. "Not him, the one from the future." "Oh" Piper responded. "What happened" Paige asked. "He got caught." "What else Phoebe" Piper demanded. "Where is my son….er….sons….oh hell you know what I mean!" Phoebe sighed. "I don't know Piper. That's all I saw."
Piper got angry. "Damn it! That means we still know nothing!"
"Piper" Paige said, wishing she knew what to say that would calm her sister down. "That's not exactly true Piper" Prue said. "We now know that we're on the right track. They were here." "Were being the key word" Piper said angrily. "Piper" Phoebe said. "We just have to make a list of who would want to get back at us like this." Piper shot Phoebe a look that stated 'duh'. Paige snorted out a laugh. "That'll be a long list." Leo nodded. Prue sighed "A very long list." "Try Book Of Shadows long" Leo added.
The family went home; Phoebe and Cole went to their home next door on the left, while Paige and Henry went to their home on the right. It was decided that each needed to spend a little time with their own families.
Piper and Leo, along with Prue, and adult Wyatt and adult Melinda were sitting in the Sun Room. Piper was clutching one of little Chris's teddy bears as if her very life depended on it. She was hanging on so tightly to that bear, as if she feared that if she let go, it would mean her little boy would never come home again. Leo had his arm wrapped around Piper, while Prue sat there, now in solid form, watching them, wishing the Elders would give her enough power to just simply locate both Chris's so she could spare her sister this heartbreaking pain.
Melinda was sitting on one of the whicker chairs and was softly crying. She was thinking about everything that had happened in the future she and her brother had come from, and how drastically things in the past had changed because of something that happened either in an earlier past or by their time traveling to the past. She wasn't making any sound, but Wyatt knew his baby sister well enough to know she was crying and why. He sat down next to her and pulled her into a hug.
"Come on Melly" he said softly, using the nickname he used to use when they were children. "It's gonna be okay." It was then that Piper realized her daughter was crying. Her attention quickly turned from her own pain and sadness to that of her daughter's. "Melinda, sweetheart, what's wrong?" Melinda shook her head, afraid to tell, she was afraid she would change the present more than it was, which would even more drastically change her future when she got back there. Which was now, a future without her beloved Uncle Coop and her beloved cousins P. J., Parker, and Patricia; the three daughters Phoebe had, had with Coop.
"Melinda" Leo said, concerned. "I can't" she said softly, attempting to stop crying. "I might change things even more than they already are. And everything is already screwed up so bad that I don't wanna go back home." Wyatt continued hugging his baby sister. "Melly" he whispered. "It's gonna be okay." "How Wy" she demanded, looking up at him. "How will it be okay now that Aunt Phoebe is married to Cole again!" "Don't you realize that, that means when and if we get back home, Uncle Coop, Prue, Parker and Patty will be gone! They'll have never even existed. You and I will be the only ones that remember them. And we might even forget them once we get back."
Melinda buried her head into her brother's shoulder. "I don't want to forget them Wy. Uncle Coop was the best. Remember when I broke my arm…." her memory was cut off just then by her panicked mother. "Arm? Broken?" Piper sputtered. "When? How?" "Piper" Leo said, cautioning her, trying to remind her that too much knowledge of the future could drastically change it. "Don't Piper me Leo" Piper responded. "Mom, not now. I promise it's okay Mom" Wyatt said.
Then he focused on his sister again. "Melly…." Melinda began shaking her head. "Don't Melly me" she said, sounding identical to her mother just then. "How can you honestly sit there and say everything will be okay when everything has gone to hell! Our brother is missing, in both timelines and our Uncle and cousins are gone forever! And somehow instead, our Aunt is married to that…that….that monster! And has not only had one child with him, but is having another!" Wyatt then gave his sister a very stern look. "Melinda, stop. They didn't know about any of that."
"What in the hell is going on" Piper demanded. "How could you let your Sister marry that demon! That sadistic, evil, twisted monster!" Melinda demanded, looking at her Mother. "Melinda don't talk to your Mother like that" Leo scolded. "Mel honey" Prue said, deciding she had to step in before things got out of hand. "Before I would have agreed with you about Cole. But he's changed. He's not a demon any more."
Melinda had, had enough. She had been under so much pressure and stress before they left the future and even more so here in the past. Seeing her Aunt happily married to Belthazor was the last straw. "Well he is where we come from!" "Melinda" Wyatt said, with a warning, adult, tone to his voice. "Be quiet Wyatt" Melinda responded much to his shock and the surprise of everyone else in the room. "In our future, Aunt Phoebe is still very much happily married to Coop, and very much in love with him. They have three great girls, Prudence Johanna, Parker and Patricia.
And Cole is very much alive and very much an evil, sadistic bastard, who, I swear gets off, and I mean "gets off" on tormenting and killing us. Him and that son of a bitch son of his." "That's enough Mel" Wyatt said. "And what your language that son of bitch is our cousin and Aunt Phoebe's son." Wyatt realized what he'd said and his eyes widened in horror and he quickly covered his mouth with his hand. "Damn, I did it again." Piper was now fed up. "Okay knock it off both of you. Someone had damn well better tell me what in the hell you two are talking about or I'm gonna send myself to the future and find out."
Melinda and Wyatt looked at each other and then at their Mother; they knew she was serious and that she would do exactly what she said. "In our future, Cole is once again the Source. And he rules the Underworld equally with his son, Cole Junior." Wyatt finally says. "Cole Junior" Leo says in shock. "Yes" Melinda answers. "Cole Halliwell Turner. Son of a Charmed One and The Source of all Evil."
"What" Piper, Leo and Prue say at the same time. "Remember when Aunt Phoebe was married to Cole, when he was the Source and she got pregnant" Wyatt asks. Piper nods her head and answers "Yes, but the Seer used dark magic and stole the baby from Phoebe's body. The Source's powers were too strong and she and the baby were killed." Wyatt shook his head no. "No, that's only what you were lead to believe so he could grow up and be raised to be pure evil, and he is." Wyatt says.
"And he's much, much worse than his Father" Melinda adds. "In our future, Cole Junior's mission in life is to only, of course rule the entire world with evil, but to end the Warren line forever….especially Wyatt." Piper's eyes widened in fear. "Why just him?" "Because" Wyatt said. "I'm the only Halliwell strong enough to even attempt to take him on." "That's why Cole is so afraid of Wy. He's also afraid of future generations. As you know, each generation since Melinda Warren will get stronger and stronger. That's why Cole is determined to kill us all off."
Piper, Leo and Prue were horrified to hear this news. "His father, however, Belthazor, he's not quite as cruel. He has boundaries, so to speak. He doesn't attempt to attack Aunt Phoebe or her daughters, or you Mom. And for a reason we've never been able to figure out, he has guards, demons with the power of acid throwing and invisibility standing guard at Aunt Prue's grave." Melinda tells them. "Why?" Prue wonders. "Our best guess is that he's still in love with Aunt Phoebe, and as for Mom, well, our guess is that he either came to really respect Mom, I mean remember that time when the Elders gave Dad that test and wiped out his memories and you were shot by the Thorn Demons and nearly died and Cole came to you to help you get Dad back?"
Piper nodded, remembering the moment all too well. "Well our best guess is that he grew to respect you during that moment. And as for guarding Aunt Prue's grave, we figure that's out of necessity." Wyatt explains. "Necessity?" Prue repeats. "Yeah" Melinda says. "Cole Junior on more than one occasion tried to steal your body from your grave. We're guessing that either he was somehow hoping he'd be able to get your powers or maybe even bring you back to life and turn you evil or something. Anyway after the third attempt, that's when Belthazor posted the guards."
Wyatt nodded his head and added "They stop any demon that doesn't give the password. And that includes the family. If we want to go visit the grave, we have to say the password or we're dead." "I don't understand" Piper says, sighing. "Neither do I" Melinda says. "here in the past, someone else is the Source and Belthazor is good, and Cole doesn't exist, and Aunt Phoebe walked out on Uncle Coop." "That's not exactly true" Leo says. "Your Uncle Coop, realized that Phoebe was really still deeply in love with Cole, despite how hard she tried to love him…and she did love him, just not as deeply and as passionately as a wife should love her husband. So he set her free, once Cole returned, so she could be happy."
Melinda's eyes lit up. "Is he still around?" She didn't wait for an answer. "Coop! Uncle Coop!" "Mel" Wyatt said. "Don't…" Just then a pink cloud of smoke shaped like a heart began to appear. When the cloud disappeared, Coop stood there, looking sad and annoyed. "That's not funny Piper" then he sighed. "Piper, you know I don't hold any ill will towards you or anyone in this family. But you know it's better for me if I stay away from the Halliwell family…." He was cut off by the sudden, tight hug being given to him by a young woman he'd never met before. "Uncle Coop, it's you" Melinda said, with a happy, contented sigh.
"Do you know her" Coop asked, looking at Piper. "Adult daughter from the future" Leo explained. Coop nodded his head. "Okay. Why is she calling me Uncle Coop?" Hearing those words broke Melinda's heart. "No stop. You're my Uncle…..at least in my future you are. You've got to help us get you back" Wyatt then walked over to his sister and gently pulled her away from Coop. "Melly, don't." "No Wy, Uncle Coop can help. He can help find both Chris's and then we can use our family magic to get him and Aunt Phoebe back together. Once Aunt Phoebe gets pregnant with P. J. everything will go back to normal then. Then we can go home."
"P. J? Pregnant? Both Chris's? What's going on?" Coop asked, looking at Piper and Leo. It was then he spotted Prue. "Prue?" Prue nodded at him, and smiled. "Ummm why is your dead sister sitting there in the flesh" Coop asked. "It's a really long story" Leo answered. "Both our Chris and adult Chris from the future are missing, and they're somewhere in this timeline. Prue was brought back to help us find him." Coop slowly nodded his head. "Okay, what about this P. J. business?" "That's your daughter" Melinda snapped. "Don't you recognize your own daughter's name!" "Mel" Wyatt said strongly. "P. J. hasn't been born in this timeline."
"P. J. is apparently one of three daughters you have with Phoebe in their future." Piper explains. "I see" Coop says. "Look, I'd be happy to help you try and find Chris….both of them" he says. "But as for me and Phoebe….I'm trying to move on. She made it clear from day one of our marriage that she wanted Cole instead of me. When he came back, I gave her what she wanted so she'd be happy." "NO!" Melinda screamed and then she ran from the room sobbing. "Melinda" Piper cried out. "I'll get her Mom" adult Wyatt said. Then he took off, running after his very upset little sister.
"Thank you for the offer Coop. You might be able to help us find them. We'll call for you later on." Piper finally said. Coop nodded and then disappeared, in a pink heart shaped cloud of smoke. "Poor girl" Prue whispered. "Her heart must be breaking in more than one way." Piper and Leo could only nod in response. Meanwhile, hanging out on a cloud, Coop sat there, thinking about his life with Phoebe, and how much he still loved her and always would love her; how she was the only one he would ever love; how he doubted if he could ever be able to really do his job as Cupid, ever again, without her in his life; and about what he'd learned about the future Melinda and Wyatt came from. A tear rolled down his check, as he began to mourn his three beautiful daughters who now would never be born.
