Disclaimer: I think we all know I don't own Pokemon...meep

TEAL'S POV:

"So, a Bulbasaur, eh?" I asked the redheaded girl (what was her name again? Garnet?), clutching the Pokéball that held my new Charmander. "Yes! Bulbasaur is just so cute!" she squealed. I rolled my eyes, flaunting my Pokéball. "Next to Charmander, that is." I said. "I mean, Venusaur looks like an old man!" Garnet scoffed and crossed her arms.

"Let's have a Pokémon battle!" Garnet announced, pulling out Bulbasaur.

"Okay!" I said, excited. I've seen Mom do some Pokémon battles, and they looked really fun. Yes!

"Alright, but I'm going to win!" I said cheerfully, releasing Charmander. My Pokémon gave a quick battle cry and the flame on the end of her tail lit up with anticipation.

"Char-Charmander!"

"Bulba-saur!"

I felt my blood pulse in my ears and smiled. My first Pokémon battle!

"Alright, Charmander. Use Ember!" I commanded. My Charmander gave a quick Char-Charmander, and quickly spun around, bursts of hot flame erupting from her tail. They struck Garnet's Bulbasaur, and it gave a shrill cry. So far so good!

"Hey!" Garnet squealed. "Bulbasaur! Use…um…." Garnet commanded awkwardly. "Tackle?" she finally said timidly. Bulbasaur gave a battle cry, and charged at Charmander. "Block it?" I said unsurely. Charmander stuck out her arms and waited for Bulbasaur to collide with it.

"Bulba-SAUR!" The Pokémon said as it broke through Charmander's arms and hit the fire Pokémon.

"Alright, Bulbasaur! Vine Whip!" Garnet ordered.

"Ember!" I countered, my mind trying to remember all the battles I've watched my mom do. How did she do it so gracefully? She commanded her poison type Pokémon so effortlessly!

I watched as fire collided with vines, and Bulbasaur fell to the ground, defeated. Yes! Garnet let out a short gasp, and raced over to her Pokémon. "Bulbasaur!" she cried, recalling her starter Pokémon. She groaned, and pulled a small wad of cash out of her pocket, and handed it over to me.

"Here you go." She said, and I happily took it.

"That was a fun battle!" I said cheerfully.

GARNET'S POV:

I happily danced around the lab with her new Bulbasaur. I knew grass type weren't relatively the strongest or best choice to choose in Starter Pokemon, but I just couldn't help myself! Charmander was weird. Reminded me of dinosaurs.. I had bad experiences with them, to put it easily. Charmander is technically the lizard Pokemon, but it certainly is close enough to dinosaurs for me.

Squirtle just didn't seem right; no matter! Bulbasaur was mine and I am going to love it forever. My dancing was interrupted by the girl with the teal hair. "Bulbasaur, heh?" It seemed as if she was mocking me. I rose defensively, "Yes, of course! Of course, it's the cutest one there!" I insisted, shaking my Pokeball in the girl's face. "Next to Charmander! You gotta admit, Bulbasaur's evolutions do remind you of an old man, yes?" I growled, "No! They just mature." The girl's name came back to my mind; Teal. "You listen up, Teal. Let's have a battle. Maybe just for practice. I know you're more experienced for me, but who cares?" I challenged with a playful gleam in my eye.

Teal released her Charmander from her Pokeball. I attempted to strike a wonderful pose and twirl while releasing my Bulbasaur from my Pokeball.. however, the boots and clean tiled floor certainly messed that up. I ended up nearly falling, but I regained myself by stomping my other foot.. but man that hurt! I lifted my hands and swung it down, "Bulbasaur! I choose you!"

With a confident gleam on Teal's face, she gave an order, "Charmander! Use Ember!"

I spun around and finished eating the juicy pear when I saw Ember attacking my cute Bulbasaur! It gave a small cry. "Hey! So not fair!" I squealed. I knew Pokemon trainers should be ready, but did we have to have a battle here? In the lab? "Bulbasaur, use um..TACKLE!" It was the first thing that game to my mind.. I heard Teal's command for Charmander to block it. I was worried, if this is how the battle looked now, it was going to be horrible at the end! I did end up hitting the Charmander though. My confidence slightly built up again and I gave another order. "Bulbasaur! Vine Whip!" I saw the Charmander countering the attack with Ember. I stand no chance...

I knew that fact. But I had to act surprised when my Bulbasaur fell to the ground, fainted. I groaned, handed the cash to Teal, and immediately returned to the Bulbasaur. I sighed, "Bulbasaur, return."

I walked out of Professor Oak's Lab, needing to find some food and shelter. I saw a dart of yellow in the forest. I quickly took out my PokeDex. Pikachu... I must have it!

By now my Bulbasaur should have healed, and that Pikachu looked weak. Deprived from food maybe, but I'll care for it when I catch it! "Bulbasaur! I choose you!" I threw my arm down. "Go follow and attack Pikachu, okay girl?" I ruffled his head and I watched her run after the slow Pikachu. I walked carelessly at a a medium-fast pace after her.

I heard my Bulbasaur dodge the attacks and I yelled, "Bulbasaur, Vine Whip!" He hit the Pikachu causing it to slam against the tree trunk. I was happy. Wouldn't be long before it fainted! The Pikachu used Iron Tail and I quickly ordered my Bulbasaur to dodge and then use Vine Whip once more. One..two...three...

It was as quick as that. I was ecstatic! I got a Pokeball from my backpack and attempted

throwing it at the Pikachu. I missed.. I groaned. It was really right in front of me! How can I miss that? Oh well, I guess. I threw it more carefully this time, and the Pikachu resigned to my Pokeball.

"Bulbasaur. Return." I talked to the Pokeball, "You were great!"

MELANI'S POV

"Cyndaquil, Ember!" I shouted to Cyndaquil. She nodded and turned to the pokemon that was attacking us: a big Pikachu that wouldn't give up this fight, even if we were stronger than it. The Pidgey I had caught a little before I entered the Viridian Forest was perched on my shoulder watching the battle unfold.

"Pi...kaCHUU!" the wild Pikachu used Thundershock and Cyndaquil stumbled backwards.

"Ok Cyndaquil now use tackle!" I knew it would only require a few more hits before this Pikachu would faint. Cyndaquil slammed into the Pikachu and it staggered backwards. After a few moments of it staggering, it finally fell.

"Finally. Great job Cyndaquil, now let's get out of this forest so you guys can rest," Cyndaquil hopped onto my back and I ran towards the forest exit. I could already see the buildings of Viribian city and ran as fast as I could towards them. I soon stepped onto the concrete pathway into the city and followed it straight to the Pokemon Center. The Pokemon Center was filled with trainers and their Pokemon interacting with each other. I quickly ran up to the nurse and handed her my Pokemon so she could heal them.

"How long will it take?" I asked her. "Not too long," she replied. "Well, it better not take long because we have to train in order to beat Brock at the next town," I told her.

"It depends on how much your Pokemon are hurt. So just be patient," Nurse Joy sighed and took my Pokeballs and brought them to a healing machine. I rolled my eyes and went to sit down on a bench near two trainers.

"I get the top bunk, that's for sure," One of them, a black-haired girl said.

"Oh fine, but wait- doesn't each room have two sets of bunks in them?" The other trainer, a brown-haired girl pointed out.

"Oh yeah, but I guess that means other trainers will have to share our room. I wonder who will." The black-haired girl scanned her eyes around the room, looking at all of the trainers. It was then I realized I would have to get a room; unless I wanted to camp out.

"Excuse me miss, your Pokemon are all healed," I turned my attention from the two girls to Nurse Joy who had my Pokeballs resting on the counter before her.

"Thanks," I dipped my head to her. "Do you have any rooms open? I need some place to stay tonight."

"Yes, there's one room open. You'll probably have to share it with other trainers who may request a room," I nodded in understanding and began heading for the doors with my two Pokemon. I needed to train, and maybe catch another Pokemon.

"Let's see, Brock is a rock-type gym leader so I should probably get a water-type or a grass-type. There's a pond over there, so I guess I'll start there," I decided and threw my two Pokeballs in the air. "Ok guys, we're gonna catch ourselves a water-type!"

"Pi-pidg!" Pidgey flapped his wings and flew over to the pond. He peered over the water and began crying out in alarm as a dark shadow in the water began swimming closer to him. Cyndaquil stood behind him and peeked over his shoulder to see what was coming their way. A few moments later, a Pokemon flew out of the water and landed in front of Pidgey.

"Poli! Poli!" the Pokemon screeched. I quickly got out my Pokedex and opened it to see what it would tell me about this Pokemon.

"Poliwag. The tadpole Pokemon. Its newly grown legs prevent it from walking well. It appears to prefer swimming over walking." I nodded and closed the Pokedex.

"Ok, you sound good. Pidgey, use Gust!" I told my Pokemon. Pidgey quickly started to flap his wings and a big gust of wind swept over Poliwag. The Poliwag fell backwards but quickly got up. Narrowing it's eyes, the Poliwag opened its mouth and bubbles came flying out. The bubbles hit Pidgey, but Pidgey didn't seem too affected. "Ok, Pidgey now use Tackle!" Pidgey charged at the Poliwag and sent it flying backwards. I knew this was my chance so I grabbed an empty Pokeball from my bag and threw it at the Poliwag. Poliwag was sent into the Pokeball and it began to rock back and forth. A few moments later the Pokeball clicked and the Poliwag was caught.

"Pidgey!" Pidgey cried out in triumph. I smiled at him and picked up the Pokeball containing Poliwag.

"Ok guys, let's get back to the Pokemon Center to get a room."
