Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon. . I do own, however, Garnet. Teal and Melani are my friend's on deviantART.
I exited the lab with Charmander in its Pokéball, happily skipping along. I'm going to do great! I thought cheerfully. At this rate, I would be amazing at this journey! I would go all the way to Unova, defeat all the gym leaders along the way…this was going to be great!
"Yay! I caught a Pikachu!" a voice cut into my thoughts. I looked up, and saw a flash of red hair. Garnet! She caught a Pikachu?
"Garnet!" I cried, racing over to the girl. She turned around, falling over in the process. I rolled my eyes. This girl was a klutz! "You caught a Pikachu?" I asked as I helped her up.
"Yes. I did! You see, I saw it in the forest. And then by then my Bulbasaur had healed and then..." she said, rambling on. I clamped my hand over her mouth. Arceus, she talked so much! No time for chit-chat! I thought.
"I'm going to catch a Pokémon now! Wanna come?" I invited her. Mom always said journeys are always more fun with friends, so why not?
"Sure!" Garnet said gladly. I beamed brightly, and sauntered into the woods, looking around for any useful Pokémon. There didn't seem to be anything cute or strong- just a bunch of Rattata and Caterpie.
"Oh, Teal!" Garnet said from behind me. I turned around, Pokéball in hand; ready to catch anything interesting looking. The green-eyed girl pointed to a small Pokémon with a cream-and-brown feathered body, and pretty red wings. "What is it?" she asked. I marveled at the small Pokémon, and then dug into my bag, my fingers searching for the sharp metal feel of the Pokédex. I pulled out the orange device and opened it up, pointing it at the unsuspecting Pokémon. "Spearow, the Tiny Bird Pokémon." The robotic voice read. Spearow? Didn't Dad talk about that thing once? "Eats bugs in grassy areas. It has to flap its short wings at high speed to stay airborne." I looked at Garnet, who was observing the Spearow.
"I'm going to catch one!" I announced. I released my Charmander, and was met with a confused "Charmander?". "Charmander! Use Tackle on that Spearow!" I commanded. My Pokémon nodded, and lunged at the fleeing bird, pinning it to the ground. "Now use…Ember!" I ordered, and my starter Pokémon quickly followed my commands, releasing bursts of flaming heat. The Spearow let out a shrill cry of pain, and flung its beak at Charmander, pecking her.
"Spe-arow!" it cried, and my Charmander fell to the ground. Fortunately, she got back up, her flame burning intensely.
"Tackle!" My Charmander lunged at the Spearow, bringing it down. "Alright, time for the Pokéball!" I announced, throwing the ball. It hit the Spearow in the head, and opened up, sucking the Spearow inside. The red and white ball shook a few times, before clicking. Yes!" I shouted in triumph. I ran over and picked up the Pokéball. Great job, Teal. How'd you catch it like that? When I tried throwing it at the Pikachu, really, I missed! I guess that is partly my fault since I had to do a fancy pose..." Garnet said, walking over to me. "Let's go to the Pokémon Center to heal up your team."
"Good idea." I said. The journeys finally getting fun!
We arrived at the Pokémon Center after a bit of walking, running and trampling through the tall grass. Garnet and I approached Nurse Joy, and handed her our Pokéballs, which she happily took.
"Can we also have a room for the night?" Garnet asked her, and Nurse Joy paused.
"Sorry, but all the rooms are taken for tonight. Do you mind sharing a room?" the pink-haired woman said. "Don't worry; I'll pair you two up with a girl around your age." Garnet nodded, and Nurse Joy continued to heal our Pokémon. "After I'm done healing your Pokémon, just go on down the hall, and you'll see a room marked with the number 12." Nurse Joy explained.
"Okay." I said, walking towards a nearby chair and plopping down. Garnet started walking down the hallway, but I didn't bother following her. She would be back soon.
Turns out she got lost in the Pokemon Center. Who gets lost in Pokemon Centers? It took forever to find her.
"Your Pokémon are restored to full health!" Nurse Joy announced. I got up from my chair, and collected my two Pokéballs from the nurse. "We hope to see you again!" she said cheerfully. Garnet got her Pokémon, and we both walked down the hall, looking for the big white numbers. "10, 11, 12!" I turned the knob on the door, and entered the room.
It was a small, cozy room, with two bunk beds and a tiny dresser, with a TV set on top. The walls were painted a light blue (although it was slightly peeling off) and a small window was on one of the walls. Sitting on one of the beds was a girl looking around the room. She had long hair held up in a ponytail, and a lavender bandana wrapped around the top of her blonde hair. She wore a periwinkle top and a black vest, along with gray shorts and black shoes. She looked up, and her forehead made hard contact with the bunk.
"Ouch!" she cried, rubbing her forehead, before looking back up at us. "Oh...hi?" she said awkwardly. "I'm Melani."
Garnet's POV
I happily exited the lab with my Pikachu and Bulbasaur. I was hugging Pikachu; this one was really friendly. I liked it. I placed the Pikachu in between my arms and screamed to no one in particular, "I got a Pikachu!"
I spun happily around, twirling on one foot with my Pikachu on my shoulder now. "Garnet!" I heard a distant call and fell again, back first. "Ow.." I growled. "You caught a Pikachu?" Teal helped me up. I was happy again. "Yes. I did! You see, I saw it in the forest. And then by then my Bulbasaur had healed and then..." I rambled on for only about 20 seconds when Teal covered my mouth.
"I'm going to catch a Pokémon now! Wanna come?" Teal requested. I nodded my head and skipped, legs flailing. I grumbled when I stumbled in the forest. None of these Pokemon were cute like my little Pikachu. I bet Teal was thinking the same thing. None of these would work, probably. I pondered away, keeping only a small part of my brain reserved for focusing on following Teal. I saw wild fruit from a bush and picked one out one Oran berry. I was about to take a nice juicy bite when a beautiful cream and brown feathered body came into sight.
I dropped the berry and went to Teal. "Oh, Teal!" I sang. I pointed to the delicate body while I fidgeted randomly. "What is it?" She asked, staring at the Pokemon. Teal took out her Pokedex and looked up the Pokemon. "Spearow. The Tiny Bird Pokemon. Eats bugs in grassy areas. It has to flap its short wings at high speed to stay airborne." I heard the unique robotic voice.
I saw Teal leap into action with her Charmander to attempt to catch the Spearow. I picked up my dirty Oran berry and frowned... there wasn't another one around here! I think..maybe if I look... no. I'll probably get lost again. I stood staring at the dropped Oran berry in a sad face when I heard an excited echo. "Tackle!"
I looked up and saw that Teal had caught it in her Pokeball. "Great job, Teal. How'd you catch it like that? When I tried throwing it at the Pikachu, really, I missed! I guess that is partly my fault since I had to do a fancy pose..." I rambled on again.
Teal and I walked back to the Pokemon Center. I'm not that sure about traveling with Teal anymore. I mean.. I'm all about trying to make a good impression on her! But no! These heels refuse to cooperate! I growled most of the time on the hike to the Pokemon Center, anyways. New shoes..I must find some.
Nurse Joy happily took my Pokeballs along with Teal's. I didn't really need my Pokemon to be healed, but Teal did. I'd rather would've kept mine, but should I have asked? Man I was hungry and bored. I wanted do something! "Can we have a room for tonight?" I asked. "Sorry, but all the rooms are taken for tonight. Do you mind sharing a room?" She paused. "Don't worry; I'll pair you two up with a girl around your age. After I'm done healing your Pokémon, just go on down the hall, and you'll see a room marked with the number 12."
I ran straight ahead, not waiting. I mean..Teal wouldn't take that long. Right? Right.
Well.. I got lost. It felt like hours before Teal found me.. well whoopee doo. Turns out I was only about a few paces next to Room 12!
I walked inside and immediately saw the girl sitting on the side of the bed. She hit her head on the bunk, before introducing herself.
"Oh...hi? I'm Melani." "Hey! I remember you from Professor Oak's lab. Don't you live in Pallet Town too?" I asked, recognizing her. "Uhh.. yeah. So you guys are staying here then?" she asked.
"Yep. I'm Garnet and she's Teal. We just got our first Pokemon today and we decided to travel together," Teal got out her two Pokeballs to show me.
"Cool. I started my journey today too. Cyndaquil, Pidgey, Poliwag! Introduce yourselves," Melani called to her Pokemo, who were playing on the top bunk. Her Cyndaquil jumped onto her head, and her Pidget flew to her shoulder. Her Poliwag, however, stayed on the bunk, staring at Teal and I.
"Ohh, you have a Poliwag? They're so cute!" Teal said happily. She climbed up onto the top bunk where the Poliwag was and began petting the Pokemon. Poliwag scowled and jumped onto the other bunk. Poliwag began shouting at Teal, obviously not too pleased.
"Aw, it still looks cute with that angry expression," I laughed. Poliwag let an angry scowl and plopped down on the bed.
"Um… well I'm going to get to bed. I'm going to train some more tomorrow so I'll be ready to defeat Brock." Melani said.
"Oh yeah we'd better get rested too! We're gonna challenge that gym, right Teal?" I looked over at Teal, and she nodded in agreement.
"Yep, but I call the top bunk. Good night!" Teal announced as she climbed onto the top bunk.
"Wh- Fine. Good night."
I mean, come on! I never sleep on top bunks. They say I always roll off and wake them up. Or I'm too "fat" and I move around a lot. First of all, I am not fat. Second of all... well that's true. But seriously, I'm not fat! I'm only 75 pounds. I think that's underweight for an eleven year old! Right?
Time to doze off...
Melani's POV
"Excuse me, Nurse Joy?" I I called from the Pokemon Center doors. I ran up to the counter where Nurse Joy was just turning around to see who had called her.
"Oh, hello again. What do you need?" Nurse Joy asked. Her Chansey suddenly appeared behind her and saw my three Pokeballs on the counter. The Chansey's eyes lit up and she took my Pokeballs over to the machine to be healed.
"Uhh… I never asked for them to be healed, but ok. Oh and I would like to get a room to stay in."
"Oh yes of course. There's only one room open. It's room number 12 all the way at the end of the hall," Nurse Joy quickly handed me a room key and took my three Pokeballs and gave them back. I thanked her and turned to the hall where my room is.
"I wonder if there are already people staying in the room?" I wondered to myself. Soon enough I reached the last room in the hall. I slid the key into the slot and the door unlocked. The room was dark and looked untouched with all of the beds perfectly made and no luggage anywhere. Turning on the light, I looked around. There were two bunk beds and a door which I assumed led to a bathroom. There was also a small dresser with a TV on top of it.
"Garnet! It's right here," I stood up from putting my things on one of the bottom bunks, while hitting my head in the process, and guessed that was one of my roommates. My three Pokemon, who were playing on the bunk above mine, stopped what they were doing as well to see who was there. The door opened and in came a girl with teal-colored hair and a girl with auburn-colored hair.
"Oh...hi? I'm Melani." I said.
"Hey! I remember you from Professor Oak's lab. Don't you live in Pallet Town too?" the auburn-colored girl immediately ran up to me and asked.
"Uhh.. yeah. So you guys are staying here then?" I already knew the answer, but I didn't know what else to say.
"Yep. I'm Teal, and she's Garnet. We just got our first Pokemon today and we decided to travel together," Teal got out her two Pokeballs to show me.
"Cool. I started my journey today too. Cyndaquil, Pidgey, Poliwag! Introduce yourselves," I called up to my Pokemon who were still on the top bunk. Cyndaquil immediately jumps onto my head and Pidgey flies onto my shoulder. Poliwag just looks down from the bunk at the two other trainers.
"Ohh, you have a Poliwag? They're so cute!" Teal exclaimed. She then climbed up onto the top bunk where Poliwag was and began petting her. Poliwag narrowed her eyes and leaped onto the other bunk and began shouting a bunch of "Poli's" and other Poliwag language at Teal.
"Aw, it still looks cute with that angry expression," Garnet laughed. Poliwag gave an angry huff and plopped down on the bed.
"Um… well I'm going to get to bed. I'm going to train some more tomorrow so I'll be ready to defeat Brock." I told them. Taking my bag off of my bed, I pulled down the sheets while Cyndaquil and Pidgey went up to the bunk above me and went to sleep. Poliwag hopped over to the bunk to join them.
"Oh yeah we'd better get rested too! We're gonna challenge that gym, right Teal?" Garnet looked over at Teal who nodded.
"Yep, but I call the top bunk. Good night!"
"Wh- Fine. Good night."
