Disclaimer: I think we all know I don't own Pokemon. ._. Garnet is mine. Teal and Melani's are Nightflower's and Rainwhisper's on deviantART
"Cyndaquil! Ember!" Melani called. Her Cyndaquil obeyed, releasing showers of flames. The wild Kakuna fell to the ground, defeated.
"Good job, Melani!" Garnet said, racing over to her friend.
"Thanks." The blonde haired girl said simply. We were all in the Viridian Forest, training up our Pokémon for the Pewter City gym.
"I'm going to train up Pikachu!" Garnet announced, whipping out her Pokéball and releasing the yellow Pokémon.
"Pika-pika?" it said, confused and looking around.
"Pikachu! C'mon, let's train!" Garnet called to her Pokémon. Pikachu whipped around, and narrowed its eyes at Melani.
"Pika! Pika-Pikachu!" it shouted angrily. Melani raised an eyebrow at Garnet. "Pika-CHU!" it yelled, and bright yellow bolts of electricity raced out of its body. Garnet and I instinctively backed away, getting away from the powerful attack. The bolts of electricity hit Melani, and soon enough she was immersed in the ThunderShock.
"Oww!" she cried after the volts left her body.
"Pika-Pika-Pikachu!" Pikachu shouted, before racing behind Garnet.
"Wh-What is th-this?" Melani demanded, turning to Garnet. "Your Pikachu just barbecued me!"
"Hey, don't blame my Pikachu!" Garnet said defensively. My eyes flashed from Garnet to Melani as they started arguing; their yells were soon filling the forest, scaring away the wild Pokémon.
"Cynda-cyndaquil!" A cry from Melani's Pokémon sounded. Melani whipped around to face her Pokémon, who was being attacked by Pikachu.
"Pika-pika-pika!" it cried, and soon it's tail turned to steel, and it slammed into Cyndaquil.
"Cynda!" it cried as it fell to the ground. Garnet and Melani raced over to their Pokémon, and quickly recalled them.
"Okay…" I said warily, eyeing the two girls. "Let's just get-"
"Wait, hold on." Melani interrupted. "That's the same Pikachu that attacked Cyndaquil and I on our way to Pallet Town."
"Well, it's a small world. Now c'mon!" I said, releasing my Spearow.
We arrived to Pewter! I trained my Bulbasaur on the way there, because honestly, I didn't think it was ready for Brock yet! Taking out my Pokeball, I yelled, "Bulbasaur, come out!"
"Alright, Bulbasaur! Use Vine Whip!" The vines extended from the neck of my Bulbasaur and proceeded to whip around in a messy fashion. I was beginning to lose my patience when one of the vines hit my Pikachu. "Pikaa!" It cried and electricity sparked from him.
"Pikkaachu!" Soon my Bulbasaur was twitching with the power of being shocked with Thunder Bolt. Bulbasaur growled and used Vine Whip once on Pikachu again. The move was perfectly executed, the vines hitting and slashing around my Pikachu. Before I actually realized who my Bulbasaur was attacking, I pulled my Pikachu out and cried. "Bulbasaur! Stop!"
"Sorry Pikachu, you're my target for now, I guess." I put Pikachu back in the spot.
"Bulbasaur, Tackle! Pikachu, dodge if you can but don't attack!" Bulbasaur ran forward with gathering speed. The Pikachu swerved out when my Bulbasaur leaped. My Bulbasaur changed its direction and tackled my Pikachu. "Alright, Bulbasaur! Return! Pikachu, return!" Well..that should be enough to beat Brock. Right? Hope so!
We arrived at the Pewter Gym and Melani was being ecstatic. "I'm going first! I wonder how everything will work out!" Melani screamed. A deep voice from behind rang, "Hello." We all turned around to see Brock, the gym leader.
"Brock! Hi, I'm Melani. I'll be challenging you first," I turned to the leader of Pewter's gym and grinned. I had trained Poliwag a lot and she'll be able to beat him without a problem; or so I hoped. Brock led us to the arena where we would battle. A referee then appeared and situated himself right on the edge of the arena.
"Whoever defeats the openent's Pokemon first wins the match. Begin!" The referee shouted. I quickly grabbed Poliwag's Pokeball and called her out. Brock called out his Geodude to begin with.
"Ok, Geodude use Tackle!" Brock ordered his Geodude. The Geodude immediately started charging at Poliwag.
"Quick, use Water Gun!" Poliwag then shot out a burst of water just before Geodude tackled her. Geodude fell back but got up again a few moments later.
"Use Tackle again!" Brock shouted. This time Geodude charged at Poliwag at a shorter pace.
"Finish it off with Bubble, Poliwag," I told her. Poliwag nodded and then bubbles flew out of her mouth hitting the Geodude. When Geodude fell back this time, he stayed like that which meant he fainted.
"You did your best Geodude. Thanks," Brock returned his Geodude to its Pokeball and got out his next Pokemon. "Alright, go Onix!"
"Oh wow..." I looked up in awe at the huge Pokemon. Maybe Poliwag will have a little trouble with this guy. He's so big and she's so tiny. Oh well, she still has the advantage of being a water type. "Ok, Poliwag let's start it off with Water Gun!"
"Po...liii!" Poliwag's Water Gun shot right at Onix's face. I guess all of that practice with working on her aim payed off. Onix roared in anger and glared down at my little Poliwag. I could barely hear what Brock told Onix to do next because of all the noise Onix was making. Onix heard what his trainer said though, and a tomb of rocks came falling on Poliwag. I was worried that Poliwag wouldn't be able to stand that many rocks until she squeezed her way out of them.
"Great job Poliwag! Now use... Hypnosis!" Making Onix fall asleep would be a great advantage since it wouldn't attack while it was sleeping. Before I knew it Onix came crashing down and Poliwag had to jump right next t me to avoid being hit. "Oh my... Um, use Bubble."
"Come on Onix, wake up! We can't lose yet!" I heard Brock yelling from the other end of the arena. Too bad for him because all we need to win is probably just one more Water Gun. My thoughts were interrupted by the loud roar of Onix as he woke up. I heard Brock yell to him to use Tackle, at least that's what it sounded like, and Onix ran into Poliwag with just its head. Poliwag flew back and landed at my feet. She wasn't getting up so I called her back. I grabbed Cyndaquil's Pokeball and tossed it in the air. Cyndaquil popped out and was all fired up for battle.
"Ok Cyndaquil use Smokescreen!" Cyndaquil then let out smoke whih filled most of the arena. Onix let out cries filled with confusion not knowing where to attack. "Now use Ember!" Cyndaquil let out a flame which made Onix even more aggitated. I told cyndaquil to use Ember once more just as the smoke from Smokescreen was starting to clear up. Weakened from Poliwag and Cyndaquil, the Ember had fainted Onix.
"Great job, Onix. Return," Brock held out Onix's Pokeball and Onix returned.
"You were fantastic Cyndaquil!" I congratulated my Pokemon. "We defeated the first gym!"
"Yes, and since you did I will give you the Boulder Badge for defeating me," Brock told me and handed me the badge. I stood there staring at the badge for a while until Brock began to speak again, "I assume your friends over there are going to battle me, or were they just here to watch?"
"Oh, no! We're going to battle you too- and win!" Teal said with a fierce look in her eyes.
"Alright well I'll have to heal up my Pokemon first, so be patient. Who's going next?" Brock asked, looking at Garnet and Teal.
"That would be me. I'm Garnet," Garnet gave a little wave to her hand and Brock nodded.
"Ok, well I'll be back in a little bit. If you want to keep yourselves busy you could train with any of the gym trainers. You should try Brenda. She's really tough... and pretty."
"Err... ok. We'll think about it," I told him while giving him a strange look. Brock then raced for the gym doors to go heal up his Pokemon.
