I slapped my hand against Melani's as she brushed by with a quirky smile on her face. I fumbled through my clumsily knit sack as I reached for my Pokeballs. I steadily walked towards Misty and unleashed my first Pokemon; Pikachu. "Alright, Staryu, come on out!"

Misty gave a cocky smirk, "You can go first."

I nodded and blew a raspberry with my lips. Second gym battle and still feeling nervous, of course that's normal. But-"Yo, Garnet!" I heard Teal cry. I nodded, not knowing what she was doing. "Pikachu, use Thunder Bolt!" "Staryu, dodge!" It quickly shot out of the way. "Staryu, use Water Gun!" The explosion came direct to my Pikachu. I panicked, shooting out a random move, "Bolt Attack!"

I really hoped it was strong enough for this…

It shot forward with a growl, "Pikaa!" I heard a faint "Staryu!". I waited for the fog to clear up so I can see what happened. The cloud moved out of the way so I could make out that Staryu was down. "My Staryu isn't that weak! You may have the type advantage, but that doesn't mean it will guarantee win!" "Staryu, Tackle!" The Staryu shot forward with speed. "Pikachu, use Thunder Bolt! Direct at the target, let's finish it off!" The Pikachu gathered its energy and shot the blast forward. The Staryu shot out of the way. I slumped at the delay.

As I focused my eyes once more, I saw that the Staryu was on the floor, struggling to get up. It got burned on one side! "Quick, use Recover! C'mon!" The Staryu had a faint glow of light around of it before it died, falling to the floor. The referee pointed a flag in my direction, "Staryu is down. Pikachu wins!" "Return!" I hugged the Pokeball and whispered, "Have a good rest, 'bud!"

"Starmie, come out and make it good!" "Leech Seed, full blast please!" I asked my Ivysaur. It inflicted the seeds out and shot them at fast speed to the small Starmie. "Easy. Starmie, use Rapid Spin!" My Ivysaur stumbled backwards with a grunt, and all the traces of Leech Seed were gone.

"Um, Razor Leaf! Quick!" The blades shot out and slashed around the Starmie. "Starmie, use Water Pulse!"

"Faster and harder, Ivysaur, try."

The Razor Leaf suddenly shot through and attacked the Starmie. "Starmie, recover fast!"

I saw my opportunity and took it, "Use Poison Powder!" The purple cloud dashed its way to the Starmie. It cried out in a pitched sound. "Now use Vine Whip harshly!" The vines extended from the Ivysaur and began attacking and pounding the small water Pokemon. "Just for fun," I chuckled, "Use Leech Seed." It stopped Vine Whip after a few more hits and shot out the deadly seeds. "S-t-armie…" It span in a circle twice before falling down.

The referee stepped forward once again, "Starmie is unable to battle. Ivysaur wins, and Garnet is the victor!" I squealed and returned my Pokemon. I ran to my friends and put the Pokeballs away gently in the bag. Recalling my incident of almost being killed by Teal, I gave a content smile towards her. I mean, I wouldn't hate her, but two syllables for ya. Kuh-illed. Killed! "You'll do fine," I gave her a small smile, "maybe." I added under my breath. I hugged Melani and sat down, grabbing some left over biscotti from earlier. I chewed on it rather loudly in happiness. Misty walked over to me. In her hands I saw a shiny bright cerulean blue color on a curvy shaped teardrop. "To show how amazing you are when you beat me! Here's the Cascade badge!" She warmly gave it to me as I did a happy dance inside. After she left, excusing herself to go heal her Pokemon, I glomped Melani. "Isn't this great? Teal will, um, pass, and we'll continue on with our wonderful journey!" I extended my hands outward to show extra dramatization. "Yeah, mkay." Melani pushed my hands off of her and sighed. "Let's root for Teal."
