Disclaimer: I think we all know I don't own Pokemon. ._.
"Wow, great training, Pikachu! Your speed was always amazing, but now, your strength! Good job, I know you'll do great in the Vermillion Gym! And Ivysaur, you were awesome! Your aim has really improved, too! Alright, gang, return!" I shot the two Pokeballs out.
"Three days…. I gotta get her something!" I clenched my fists and grinded my teeth together. "What's dat you shaid?" Teal walked out of the small bathroom, toothbrush in hand and foam over her face. "I gotta get Melani something for her b-back burn." I've always been considerably decent at lying, stuttering once or twice under pressure.
Melani jumped on my bunk-bed and hung one arm over my shoulder, "Aw, thanks hun! But my back is fine, now. Kinda.."
"Good to hear!" I put on a merry face and lay down on the cushion provided. "Hey guys! Going to the market, again! Melani, come with!" I put on my bag, and I grabbed Melani, dragging her out of the room. "W-Wait guys! Ishn't thar sumthin-" I heard water rushing through the sink next. "Melani, birthday shopping time for Teal!" I winked at her and ran off to the Pokemart again.
I gasped as I saw the freshly stocked array of food laying in front of me. Everywhere. Every angle I turned-well an exception was made for the very front of the right. "F-ooodd!" I squealed and ran forward, hands extended.
I took many items. "Hm, let's see. I got four bundles of fruit, two packs of vegetables" I grumbled to myself. "I need some more berries for Pokemon food!" I put on a determined face and shot up my hand.
"Garnet, look here," Melani pointed out flatly, pointing to a beautiful sweater with some holes in it. It was extremely comfortable, and it had a beachy feel to it; like a thing you would wear over a swimsuit. It was off shoulder, a plastic elastic band holding the right arm sleeve up. The sleeves were about elbow length, considering how far apart you separate it from the shoulders. It had a slight fringe at the bottom.
"She'll love that!" I purred. I spun around, hands clutched around the food. "Garnet, we can't buy it for her. It's way too expensive."
"Oh, it's no problem!" I took out my wallet and pulled out a bunch of bundles of money. "B-but..how?" I stuttered, "Um, you can say inheritance."
I shoved the money back in my bag and walked back, further into the aisles. "We should totally get her more than one item, it'd be amazing! Especially since she got a Pokemon egg from her parents."
I broke into a stride in the mini markets. "Let's get her shoes, gloves, and then we can make something for her!" Melani blinked at me, obviously affected at my readiness to spend precious money. "C'mon!" I dragged her to the back section of the store. "Hey look at this!" I pointed to a pair of purple high top Chucks, sitting on a medium shelf, conveniently the right size for Teal. "Definitely her, but won't something along the lines of wedges with cotton bows suit her sweater more?"
I shrugged, "But those aren't her styles. Let's find something in between." After a few minutes of searching, Melani tapped me on the back. "Lookie here!" In front of me I saw a pair of small ballet flats with a beautiful pastel floral print on the outside. The inside was covered with a comfortable cream material, and a tight bow accented the top.
"Let's get it!" I cried and took the shoes off the shelf. "Garnet, you shouldn't pay for all of this. Let me give some money, please?" I glared at her, "Fine. The total currently is 98 dollars. You can donate 5 to the," I paused and shot up my hands, "National Teal Awesome Birthday Foundation! Or, NTABF."
She rose an eyebrow and handed over 15 dollars. "For extra necessities later." She squinted her eyes and gave a quirky smile. I rolled my eyes and took a pair of decent looking gloves off a shelf. "Melani, checkout time!" I was second in line, humming idly when the cashier checked everything out. "Thank you!" I waved my hand behind me and exited the shop. "That shop has pretty good clothing!" I cheered. Melani rolled her eyes, "Yeah. If you're a rich snob."
I scoffed, "Am not rich."
I took Melani by the hand again and dragged her to a café. "One muffin, two biscottis, and two decaf mocha coffees with cream and sugar." I handed the cashier 6 dollars and sat down at an empty table. Two minutes later, a waitress handed the food over. I picked out one peach from a fruit packet and chewed on it with my strawberry flavored biscotti, waiting for my coffee to cool down.
"Coffee, Garnet?" Melani asked quietly. "Pish posh, not even real coffee! It's mother loaded with cream and sugar!" I nodded in approval as Melani took a sip.
"Honey, I'm home!" I screamed at our Pokecenter room. Teal screamed back at me, "Shut up! Watching..egg.." Teal resumed a fetal position and stared at the unmoving egg. "Melani, go put the bags somewhere safe." I walked over to Teal, sitting down looking at the egg. "Yeah, no." I took the egg. "Hey, give it back!"
"No, you're obsessed with it. Go beautify yourself, or whatever."
"No!"
"Yes."
I laid down on the bed, relaxing my back muscles. Teal came out of the bathroom, curlers in hair. "C-curlers?" I articulated, unimpressed.
"Yeah! Saw the, why not?" Teal exclaimed. "Because..you're you? You don't do curly," I yanked the curlers out of her strangely smooth hair. I swear that girl had an obsession with combing her hair.
I took the curls and applied them to my hair, "Cool! It feels cool." Teal glared at me and put her robe and bunny slippers on. I stared at my own comfortable strawberry slippers, poking at the soft cushion. I fell in a deep sleep, in the awkward position: head hanging off the bed and back hunched.
