"Really, Teal? We're going to the harbor to go fishing? Cool!" I felt giddy as pie, and yes, I do know that that was a horrible comparison, so please, don't mention it. "You have the fishing rods and stuff?" I asked her, glancing once at Aubrey, who was just silently observing us.
"Yeah," Teal scowled, "I rented it from this dude. I'll give him my name and whatever. He'll hand us the rods and bait for an hour and a half." Teal stated. "Do I get one?" Aubrey asked. "Yeah, of course!" I immediately exclaimed, "After all, you're traveling with us!" I hugged her loosely.
"Yeah, she gets one." Teal gave Aubrey a seething look before going to the bathroom and slamming the door. I glanced at Aubrey, feeling slightly bad for Teal's behavior. Oh well. I picked up my Poketch and began texting Melani, fingers fumbling along the tiny keys, "Melani! We're going to the Vermillion harbor to go fishing! I want to catch a new Pokemon. :D" After we exchanged a few messages, you know, the usual. How is it going, blah, Teal came out right after Melani had to leave again. "My turn!" I squealed excitedly.
I gently closed the rusty door and locked it. "Hmmm, sea-wear. Haha, that sounds so stupid. I just don't wanna get this," I gestured to my outfit to the mirror, "dirty. And yes, I do talk to myself." I said to the mirror. I searched through the suitcases, being abandoned near a corner of the bathroom. I grabbed a water-proof plastic-like yellow flowy top, being held together with gold buttons on the 1 inch strap. I grabbed gray jeggings, a pair of rusty gold bracelets, and some old sneakers. They were fairly small, but it wasn't like I was going to wear my boots to the harbor. I grabbed a stretchy black hair tie and arranged my hair strands into a poofy side bun.
I brushed my teeth quickly before putting on some Burts' Bees' Peppermint lip balm. Sadly, it broke during the journey. Well, it was partially my fault, I guess. It's like I knew, though! I only turned the adjuster all the way up, then it wouldn't go down! Pfft, not like I'd know. Then, the lip balm actually broke out. The only thing that kept it from being completely scattered and broken was the pink stopper that held it? It wasn't more than an inch, probably less. And guess what? That broke out. Sorry if that really makes no sense, and I'm sorta rambling, aren't I? But anyways, I wrapped it in plastic wrap, put the too big of a cap on and held the broken toiletry in a plastic bag.
I slammed the door open, eagerly walking out in my new attire, "You like?" I wiggled my eyebrows, smirking slightly. "Uh, Garnet. What's up with.. this?" Teal waved frantically at my odd clothes. "Just so nothing happens to my good clothes?" I shrugged, grabbing my knit bag and a bag of chips. "Your turn, Aubrey!" I hollered.
"Um, it's okay. I'll just braid my hair real quick and wear my regular clothes out."
"Suit yourself!" Teal sang as she headed for the door. "Is the harbor far from the Pokecenter?" I questioned Teal. I heard Aubrey gently shut the door behind us, joining me at the side. Aubrey spoke up, "I wonder if I can get a new Pokemon! Y'know, I really want one. My Pokemon are really under leveled and what not, so I wonder if I can catch a high-leveled water Pokemon! I really need one, 'cause I barely have anything. And you guys have so much Pokemon! Well not really, it's not really even a full team, but considering your stats and blah, your Pokemon are really awesome and not at all under leveled! Like your Pokemon absolutely pwned at Lt. Surge's Gym! It just wasn't even funny. So yeah, I really do hope that I get a new water Pokemon. Do you guys want a new Pokemon, too?" Aubrey gave us a huge smile, breathing a bit raggedly at her paragraph. "Oh, yeah! I want a water Pokemon! Maybe like Tentacool or a Goldeen! Oh yeah, Goldeen' is really pretty! But you know what I really don't want to catch? A Magikarp! Hurp derp! I mean, who would actually want a Magikarp? They're creepy. Like robotic ugly giant fish. It's just terrible and disgusting. But I heard you can also get a Farfetch'd! Which is pretty cool 'cause I love how they carry their little vegetables or whatever, and I really want one. But I don't really wanna get two Pokemon in one place! That's just, like, way too much! Y'know? Well two Pokemon isn't really a lot, but in the same place? And we still have what? Four cities to go? Don't know, really, but yeah, I want awesome Pokemon for my team. But I also really want to catch a Farfetch'd. If I can't really get a Goldeen or whatev-" I heard Teal sigh as she slightly fastened her pace. "Sorry!" I muttered as I jogged for a few seconds, catching up to her, "I really want to catch a Chinchou." Teal said quite happily before we exited the Pokemon Center's doors. "Let's just walk there, it shouldn't really be far! Then after we can stop at this really cool seafood place that my mom suggested."
"Mkay!" I yelled excitedly. Aubrey was fun, you know? Someone to talk to. Not like Teal wasn't! It's just that she doesn't really hold long conversations.
"We're here!" Aubrey squealed. I ran through the wooden planks of the pier, inhaling the slightly disturbing salty scent. "Hey, Teal! So where are the rods?" I saw Teal rub the back of her head, "I'm.. not sure. He said he'll be here five am to four pm!" Teal glanced at her Poketch watch, "He probably lied and just took our money." Teal groaned. "Oh, well… look! There's an old fishing rod right there! May not be the greatest, but, we can just take turns!" I suggested, picking up the soggy rod.
"Garnet, it's ten thirty, we're gonna take turns fishing for an hour and thirty minutes? Fine." Teal slightly relented as she grabbed the bait. I grabbed all my Pokeballs, maximizing them into full-size. "All right, gang! C'mon out!"
"Oh, yeah! Good idea!" Aubrey grabbed all of her Pokeballs, followed by Teal. My eyes widened at the bait Teal had selected. "Teal!" I whined, "Couldn't you have chosen, I don't know, dead bait or whatever?" I felt my body shudder at the squirming worms in the compact box. "Disgusting!" I quivered as I saw one.. Worm it's way around. "Eugh!" I screamed. Aubrey came over, picked a worm up and latched it quickly to the hook, "Just set it in the water, now, kay?" She gave a small smirk before petting her Vulpix once again. I gently lowered the rod. "Ain't gonna find something soon, I guess." I kept grip on the fishing rod, anyways. "Have you guys ever wondered about Tentacool's cousin? Well, it isn't really the cousin or whatever. But come on! Don't tell me you don't see the similarities? Tentacool, no matter if it's the jellyfish Pokemon or not, looks like a squid! I mean, to me, of course. So then it'd just make sense that Octillery is the cousin, even though Tentacool isn't the squid Pokemon. But does it honestly matter? I should make a-huah!" I screamed slightly as I was being pulled down by the strong bite. I instantly grabbed the small stubby pier pole. I hugged my arms around it as I tried pulling it up. Success!
"G-Guys.. That's disgusting!" I grimaced at the Octillery before throwing it down. With the rod. Woops?
"Sand, Sandshrew!" I saw Teal's Sandshrew peer over the wooden support, instantly freaking out at the sight of water. "S-Sand, Sandshrew!" Plop. "Sandshrew!" Teal ran up to the edge, searching the surface if Sandshrew had somehow managed to be afloat. "Teal, listen, I um, accidentally dropped the fishing rod and-" "Shut it!" Teal hushed me, gently pushing me back. "Sandshrew fell in the water!" "Well, sorry, but it isn't' gonna survive that." I have snickered in amusement, but I knew there was some sympathy in there. "Maybe some friendly Pokemon will ea"
"Eat it, Garnet? Is that what you were going to say? Eat. It?" Teal screamed at my face before once again searching the water. "No, I was gonna say ease it back up!" I protested. "Why don't you send your Lapras out to go find your Sandshrew, huh? 'Cause I know for sure that you're never going to find your stupid little Chinchou. Don't you know they rarely ever go up in the water? You're so stupid. Stop trying to take things out on me and do something! You have a water Pokemon, that, I don't know, swims?" As soon as the words left my mouth I instantly felt regret and guilt. "Listen, Teal, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it!"
"Yeah, I know." Teal was mad at me slightly, I could tell, "But you're right about the Lapras, I guess." "Hey, Lapras! Go in the water and find-"
"Sandshrew! S-S-and-shrew!" "Sandshrew, Teal!" Aubrey pointed to the sputtering and shivering ground Pokemon. "H-Horsea and.. Chinchou?"
"H-Horsea!" The Horsea hovered in the water, glancing at me in admiration. "Worth a shot," I spat at my empty Pokeball. I threw the Pokemon ball at the Horsea, hoping dearly that it would catch it. One flash, two, tree, yes! A few yellow sparks flew in the air as the Pokeball sealed tight. "Awesome! I got a Horsea!" I danced, trying to be careful because I knew that the pier was slippery. And it's not like I'd want to be in the same waters as an Octillery.
"Sandshrew..." I groaned, looking for the golden brown Pokemon in the ocean. "Stupid Garnet." I muttered quietly. Turning around, I reached for my bag, searching for Lapras' Pokeball.
"Chin...chou?" a melodic sound came from the water, and I turned around to see a Chinchou, it's black eyes looking down at the brown shape of Sandshrew. A cry of victory rang from my lips, and I whipped around to face Garnet. "And you said I wouldn't find a Chinchou!" I triumphed, and the redhead rolled her green eyes, folding her arms with a huff before opening her chapped mouth, "Well, technically, you didn't exactly find one! Or catch it, it came up to you? Heh? Is that a decent enough of a reasoning? Because, Mr. Teal, sir, I refuse to be proved wrong by um, a tealette? Hey! Is my vocabulary improving?" Garnet beamed slightly. I rolled my eyes, grinning a bit before grab-bag my Pokeball out. "Sand...! Sandshrew!" the ground-type Pokemon squealed. He jumped up and down, squeezing his eyes shut. Suddenly, the ground started shaking, and Sandshrew curled up in his regular ball.
"Eek!" Garnet shrieked, falling to the ground, along with Aubrey and I. My hand sought out the dock pole, and I clung onto that until the shaking stopped. "Ugh..." I groaned, disoriented. Getting up and dusting off my jeans, I shook my head, quickly snapping back. "Hey, that TM worked!" "Ergh...seriously Teal?" Garnet groaned, getting up and using Aubrey for balance, much to her dismay. I rolled my eyes coyly. "Pish posh! It's not like anything serious happened!" I shrugged. Turning back to the waters, I sighed in relief when I saw that the Chinchou was still there, disoriented but still there. "Alright, Chinchou, that Earthquake sure weakened you down!" I called, tossing the Pokeball at the Pokemon. The Chinchou was sucked into the Pokeball, and it lay afloat, shaking a ew times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught a Chinchou!" I triumphed, grabbing the Pokeball and drying it off.
"Yeah, yeah. Let's start heading towards Celadon City now!" Garnet said, stuffing her phone in her pocket. "Nice catch!" I turned around, seeing a tall girl with light brown hair thrown in a high ponytail atop her head. My eyes widened, and my lips spread in a wide smile. The unmistakable pale hazel eyes and beaming smile.
"Kaelyn!" I squealed, running towards my childhood friend. I promptly pulled her into a tight hug. "Teal! How's it going?" Kaelyn asked happily once the hug broke. I couldn't stop smiling as I replied, "Great! I just defeated Lt. Surge!" "Uh...Teal?" I heard Garnet approach Kaelyn and me.
"This is Kaelyn!" I introduced, facing Garnet and Aubrey, who was catching up to Garnet. "We grew up together in Cerulean City!"
"Oh, hi!" Garnet greeted. "I'm Garnet, and that's Aubrey!" she gestured to the auburn-haired girl. "Listen, not to be rude or anything, but ya can't really join us on the journey. And I am certainly not letting Teal leaving, so, before you guys get to know each other again, and decide that you're the bestest of best friends even though you haven't seen each-" Garnet stomped her feet furiously in mock attempt of something that'd be on television. I cut her off. "Garnet, we're just having a lil' reunion. No need to worry!"
"Nice to meet you though?" Kaelyn responded with equal enthusiasm. A feeling of glee passed through my body, and I could hardly contain my excitement. I mean, I haven't seen Kaelyn since I moved to Fushia City when I was 9! "You see, Teal and I were planning on traveling Kanto together, but when Teal moved to Fushcia City, we lost contact." Kaelyn explained. "We ended up starting our journeys at different times."
"Mhm!" I finished, still beaming like an excited 6 year old.
"I see!" Aubrey said.
"Shouldn't we head to Celadon City now?" Garnet veered. Aubrey nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's getting late. We should get going now." she added. "It's only four!" I pointed out, folding my arms. "And it's going to be midnight if we don't get going!" Garnet countered. I glared at her, but gave in reluctantly. "Fine.." I muttered, and turned around to face Kaelyn. "I'll see you around, Kaelyn." I parted, pulling her into a hug.
"Bye. Let's have a battle next time we see each other." Kaelyn replied.
