Part XVII
Wednesday 22nd November
Danny followed Commander Nishlin through the corridors of the ship, knowing without the man's help he could easily get lost. He threw a glance over his shoulder at Sam and Tucker, his own body reminding him that they still hadn't had a proper meal in a month and were still recovering. They kept the pace, Nishlin probably not walking at his fastest, as they made their way back to the decontamination chamber.
Danny let his mind go back to Earth, a part of him worried about what his parents might do to him once he got back home. He always figured he would be the one to tell them, and now that his sister had done so he didn't know what to expect. He remembered how his parents had reacted during the Reality Gantlet thing, hoping they still would accept him. He also quickly remembered all the times he heard their excitement at the idea of dissecting his ghost half.
A hand taking hold of his caught his attention, getting him to look up and see Sam had sped her pace to stand beside him. Looking the girl in the eyes, she whispered, "It's gonna be alright."
"I hope you're right," Danny mumbled, giving her hand a squeeze.
Danny let go as they came up to a room with a uniformed officer siting at what looked to be more stations like they had seen up on the bridge, lights and buttons that meant nothing to him with characters he had never seen before labeling them. The woman's station was facing a window, giving them a look into the decontamination chamber and Dani standing in what looked like a mix of the Fenton Ecto-Suit and the Ghost Peeler, the Fenton Works' logo sitting promptly on the center of her chest.
"How are we going to talk to her?" the woman at the station asked, looking up at Nishlin. "We cannot give her an ear piece."
"I'll do it," Sam offered. She gave Danny a glance and added, "You were terrible at it earlier."
"It feels weird just saying the same thing," Danny admitted with a shrug.
"She's still talking to those on the planet," the woman officer informed.
"Make us visible and patch us through," Nishlin ordered, putting his hands behind his back as he stood straight to look through the glass.
Dani turned as she noticed the window, squinting her eyes to look through as she stepped over. "Hang on, Mrs. Fenton," she said. Stopping beside the glass she took a glance over all five in the room, stopping on Danny. "Danny, you're safe."
"Glad to see you too, cuz," Danny said, smiling at the girl.
"You look ragged though," Dani said with a laugh.
"Tell her the decontamination process will only last a few more minutes," Nishlin said, giving a glance at Sam.
"When can we bring you three home?" Dani asked. "Mr. Fenton's working on making three more of these suits. They're collapsible."
"We were planning on teleporting them down," Nishlin admitted. "I was hoping to learn a little more before we did though. You and Danny both have the same type of life readings as we do."
"We do?" Dani asked, giving a look towards Danny. Looking back at the captain she asked, "Are you from the Ghost Zone?"
"Our home was called the Delpqu Wilk," Nishlin said, Sam trying her best to copy the pronunciation of the strange word.
"Your ghost forms, ethereal forms, right?" Dani asked, her brows furled. "What do they look like?"
Danny glanced at Nishlin, curious what the commander's form looked like himself. He watched as the light ring appeared above his head, changing him to a blue bi-pedal spirit with flicks of himself rising upwards like a blue flame. As soon as the light disappeared at his feet Danny felt his ghost sense rise up out of him.
"Do you recognize my species?" Nishlin asked, hope in his voice.
A smile pulled on Dani's face as she said, "Yes, I think I do. But you're pronouncing your home wrong. It's Jkrvw Crqh."
"How do you know that?" Danny asked, surprised.
"You remember how I said I went traveling?" Dani asked, turning her eyes to Danny. "There's a group of ghosts that come out of a portal near London and they speak in Caesar Three. It's a-"
"A type of cypher," Tucker completed in realization.
Dani nodded her head. "Jkrvw Crqh is the Ghost Zone."
"And if you're from the Ghost Zone, than we can get you back home!" Danny said as a plan started forming in his mind, looking up at the blue ghost beside him. Turning back towards Dani he asked, "Is Mom and Dad still on the call?"
"We're here, Danny, though it's hard to hear you," Maddie's voice admitted.
"Did you make a new version of the Porta-Portal?" Danny asked.
"We had one around here," Maddie said.
"It's in the box over there," Jack's voice replied.
"No, it's not, Jack. It used to be, though."
"That one was probably the one Johnny 13 had," Danny pointed out. "I destroyed it. I was hoping you had another one."
"No, but we can make a new one," Maddie quickly said. "We'd just need the dimensions of their space ship to make sure the portal will be large enough."
Danny let a large smile appear on his face as he looked up at Nishlin. "I think we can get you home."
