Chapter 14 Young Kiawe Had a Farm
After the Grand Trial of Melemele Island, Ash and Golly are training with the Normalium Z and the Fightinium Z. Since there is no school today, so they are training with Paris, their butler.
"Okay, Pikachu. Let's try it out." Ash says to Pikachu.
"Then Rowlet, do you want to try the Z Move with me?" Golly asks.
Rowlet nods as Golly decides to try the Z Move with Rowlet. Golly says, "Rowlet, let's try out the Z Move together!"
Golly then does the pose as Rowlet starts to do Breakneck Blitz, as for Ash and Pikachu, they are trying the new Z Crystal, but nothing happened.
"Strange...it doesn't let Pikachu use Gigavolt Havoc...and the dace seems to be wrong as well..." Ash says with confusion.
Rowlet also comes back tired, and Golly asks, "Are you okay, Rowlet?"
"Using a Z-move is really exhausting." Rotom says.
"Right now, just using it takes all its strength." Paris says. "But the more you train, the less tiring it will become."
"Paris, have you tried the Island Challenge before?" Ash asks.
"Back before I was a butler." Paris says while Golly recalls Rowlet. Pikachu senses Kiawe and his Charizard above and he informs both Ash and Golly.
"It's Kiawe and Charizard!" Golly says.
"Alola!" Ash yells, and Kiawe hears it and lands at their private beach. Ash and Golly notice the Moomoo Milk in the bags.
"Wow, there's so much..." Ash says. "Are those Moomoo Milk?"
"Yeah. They're freshly made." Kiawe says. "I remember that you have purchased 3 bottles, right?"
Paris says, "I'll be handling the bottles."
"Thanks, Paris." Golly says as Paris brings the bottles indoors. Ash asks, "You're really up early, Kiawe. Are you also doing some Pokemon training?"
"Actually, I'm helping out my family. We live on a ranch and I have to deliver the dairy products and pick up the empty containers." Kiawe says.
"Wow, sounds like you're so responsible. Kiawe." Golly says.
"It's nothing, really..." Kiawe says.
"Hey, you have a lot of Pokemon like Miltank on your ranch, right?" Ash asks.
"Yeah, we also have other Pokemon like Mudbray and Tauros." Kiawe says.
"Wow, I want to see it, is that possible?" Golly asks.
"Wait, but what about our Z Move practice?" Ash asks.
"Brother, don't you remember? Kiawe can also do Z-Moves as well. Battling him can count as practice, then!" Golly says,
"I guess that works?" Kiawe says with a sweatdrop.
"But aren't you in the middle of a delivery?" Ash asks. "Do you need some help? I think it would be faster with the three of us."
"That's fine with me." Kiawe says. "After that, we can have that battle."
"That's great!" Golly says with delight.
With the help of Ash's own Charizard and Pidgeot, they are able to fly and help Kiawe with the delivery. "So how often you do this?" Ash asks.
"I do this before getting to school every day." Kiawe replies.
"Wow, you must get up super early, then." Golly comments.
"I like to fly through the Alolan Sky alongside the rising sun." Kiawe remarks. "Doesn't the morning air feel great?"
"It sure is refreshing." Ash says.
After finishing Melemele Island, they are now heading to Akala Island. Ash says, "So you live on Akala Island, right?"
"Yeah. I guess this is your first time here, huh?" Kiawe says.
"Yeah, that's why we're so excited." Golly says as she notices a volcano. "But what is that?"
"Ah, that's Wela Volcano." Kiawe says.
After reaching the island, they get to a house where a boy named Harry comes out and greets Kiawe. After introducing them to the boy, he notices the Pikachu on Ash's shoulder.
"Can I pet it?" Harry asks with delight.
"Of course, you can." Ash says as the boy is happy, he pets and comments that he's never seen one before.
"Are you ready for tomorrow?" Kiawe asks.
"Of course! I drew it out!" Harry says as he takes out a picture. "Look!"
Ash and Golly are amazed to see a Rowlet on a birthday cake.
"Tomorrow is my mother's birthday, so my Dad and I are going to make her this cake!" Harry says. "Don't be late coming to my house tomorrow morning. We won't be able to make it without your family's fresh Moomoo Milk."
"Don't worry. Have I ever been late?" Kiawe chuckles and Ash and Golly smile at how Kiawe interacts with his customers.
After bidding the boy farewell, they manage to find a giant ranch with a lot of Tauros, Miltank, and Mudbray. Ash, Kiawe, and Golly land a the ranch and recall their Pokemon.
"The smell of ranch..." Golly says. "It was just like our private beach..."
"Maybe it's because I have 30 Tauros..." Ash says. "But I've never seen a Mudbray before."
As they look around, they find that Mudbray are eating dirt on the ground. Rotom says, "Mudbray, the Donkey Pokémon. A Ground type. Mudbray are stubborn and independent. Their daily routine includes eating dirt and frolicking in the mud they kick up."
Kiawe says, "The soil is the source of Mudbray's power."
"That's interesting." Ash says. Just then, one Mudbray has its nose tickled by a nearby blade of grass and ends up sneezing mud in Ash and Golly's face.
"Oh, yeah, Ash, Golly...You'll get muddy if you get too close to Mudbray." Kiawe says.
"You could have told us sooner..." Ash mutters as two towels are given to both of them.
"Just wipe it off." Ash and Golly notice the woman giving them the towel and thank her. Kiawe says, "This is my mother, Sima."
"So what do you think of the Pokemon? Aren't they all great?" Sima asks.
"It's thanks to the good soil and grass." Kiawe says.
"Soil and grass?" Golly asks.
"It's a wonderful pasture nourished by the nature of Alola and the Wela Volcano. All the Pokemon here eat from it and grow to become healthy and strong. The milk squeezed from these Pokemon are also full of nutrients. Do you want something to eat as well?" Sima asks.
"We heard from our classmates that your ice cream is famous, we want to try it out." Ash says.
"Of course." Sima turns around and yells, "Dear! Bring some ice cream!"
Kiawe's father manages to bring two bowls of ice cream to Ash and Golly, they are also a little surprised at how many they give them.
"This is my father, Rango, he's also the manager of this ranch." Kiawe says.
Ash and Golly take the ice cream and taste them, they are so delighted at the taste that they start to gobble down the ice cream.
"Kiawe...your friends are already enjoying the ice cream, aren't they?" Rango asks with a sweatdrop.
"That's just how they are. Don't worry about it." Kiawe replies with a sigh.
Rotom offers to take a picture of Rango, after that's done, Kiawe notices something as his face turns to a serious tone. "What?!"
Ash and Golly notice that Kiawe bolts towards a young girl and grabs the empty tankard off her hand. "Are you okay? Mimo?"
"I'm totally okay! That was dangerous at all!" The girl named Mimo yells at Kiawe. "I want to help out as well!"
"I'll do it. Don't mess with dangerous stuff like this! I'll handle it all." Kiawe replies.
"Jeez...I can do it myself..." Mimo mutters while turning to Ash and Golly, "What do you think of my brother? He's overprotective, isn't he?"
"Huh? Well...compared to my brother here...maybe a bit?" Golly asks.
"So you want me to be overprotective of you?" Ash asks, and Golly just sends him a glare. Ash says, "But who are you?"
"This is my cute sister, Mimo." Kiawe says while leaving with the tankard. "All of you can become friends."
"There's nothing left for me to do!" Mimo yells. But when she notices Pikachu, she also says it is cute. Golly asks, "So is there something we could help out with? I don't think I can sit around now that we've seen all those Pokemon in the ranch."
"Then why don't you help out with this, then?" Sima takes some cleaning supplies and hands over to Ash and Golly.
Moments later, Kiawe demonstrates to Ash how to wash a Mudbray, using a stiff brush to work up a lather and brush Mudbray with a regular rhythm.
"I think I got it. I'm gonna clean this one." Ash says as he brushes the Mudbray, while Golly is doing the same, but Ash's brush ends up stuck in his Mudbray's tail, causing it discomfort.
"This is weird..." Ash mutters as he manages to force the brush down, but the strength he puts in causes the Mudbray to rear its legs back and kick him in pain. E
"Oh yeah, Ash... Don't stand behind Mudbray, you'll get kicked." Kiawe says.
"I guess you're too late." Golly says as they watch how Ash is sent flying just like Team Rocket.
After finishing two Mudbray, Ash notices the amount of Mudbray and he asks Rotom, "Rotom, how many Mudbray are there?"
"There are 60 of them." Rotom says, causing Ash and Golly to widen their mouths with shock, they can't believe how many there are on the ranch and how Kiawe and his family manage to do this all the time. But then again, they have a lot of Pokemon on their ranch, and they now know how much work Paris and the others are doing.
After cleaning the Mudbray, they are preparing the barns as Golly says, "There really is a lot of hay..."
"There's never too much hay! The Pokemon come in here during the evening and stay until morning. We have to make sure there's plenty of food and water for them." Kiawe says.
Ash and Golly then somehow being competitive as they are trying to see who gets the most hay, much to the surprise of Kiawe and Mimo.
By sunset, the ranch Pokémon return to the barns. Kiawe says, "Once you see the place from up here..."
"Are we done?" Golly asks, feeling tired after all the work.
"No. Now we have to check on everyone's conditions." Kiawe says. "We also have to check to see how much the hay and water have gone down."
After finishing that, they are invited for a stay and a dinner, thus they have to inform Aurora that they're not coming back home, and Aurora understands. Before they can start eating, Sima says, "Ash, Golly. Before we eat, we pray to Wela Volcano before our meals."
"Pray?" Ash asks.
"It's to say thank you for watching over us again today." Sima says. "Okay, all together now."
Everyone tries to pray and Ash and Golly are doing the same thing. Once they finish their meal, Ash and Golly are now lying on their beds as they are tired. Rotom asks, "Aren't you going to battle?"
"As much as I want to, but I can't move an inch..." Golly says.
Ash notices the fire outside of the window as he checks it out, only to see Kiawe training Turtonator with Flamethrower. When Ash and Pikachu walks out of the place, Kiawe asks, "Sorry, did I wake you up?"
"What're you doing, Kiawe?" Ash asks.
"I help out during the day, and I train my Pokemon at night." Kiawe says. "As an owner of a Z-Ring, and as someone living with Pokemon, this is my daily routine."
"Wow..." Ash says.
"This Z-Ring is a keepsake of my grandfather." Kiawe says while showing the Z-Ring.
"So your grandfather was a Kahuna?" Ash asks.
"A long time ago. Charizard was his partner." Kiawe says. "However, in order to get my grandfather's Z-Ring, we had to take on the Grand Trial. Turtonator and I challenged the current Kahuna Olivia, and once we passed it, I was allowed to have the Ring. When I was a child, my grandfather always used to tell me...we're kept alive by the flames. There are times when these flames consume everything, which can be quite frightening. But these flames are also the light that brought civilization to mankind. I have to become a Fire user who uses flames that nurture life like those of Wela Volcano, not those that destroy life. For my grandfather's sake...I want to master a Fire-Type Z-Move. I will become the Flame of Alola."
"Wow...that's..." Ash is stunned at Kiawe's story.
"It's time for us to head to bed." Kiawe says.
"But Kiawe, you did promise me that we're going to master Z moves and have a battle." Ash says.
"Aren't you tired? We have an early start tomorrow. We have to make that delivery to Henry's first thing in the morning."
"You're right...though I wonder if I'll be able to get up..." Ash jokes as he bids Kiawe farewell and heads to rest.
The next morning, Ash and Kiawe prepare to set off; although she tries to help, Mimo is asked to stay behind and she relents. Kiawe accidentally puts the bottles on Pikachu's tail, causing it to shoot out electricity. Ash and Golly aren't affected because of the Earth Plate.
"Good thing we're now used to shocks..." Ash says.
After taking off, they are amazed by the view in front of them, but they are hit by the smoke from Wela Volcano.
"What was that?" Golly asks while trying to cover her eyes and nose.
"We have to get down. If we don't get out of it, we won't be able to breathe." Kiawe says as they do what Kiawe says. Ash says, "We weren't expecting that. Are you sure we can do it on time?"
"Don't worry." Kiawe says.
En route, Golly's Pidgeot is suddenly attacked by a blast of Dragon Rage and the group is forced to land while checking on Pidgeot's injury.
"Are you okay? Pidgeot?" Golly asks.
"That was Dragon Rage. We have to heal it." Kiawe says.
"We'll do it, you head on to Henry's house." Ash says.
Just then, they find Team Skull in front of them. Tupp, Zipp, and Rapp.
"You guys again?" Ash mutters with anger.
"We're Team Skull! We make crying kids cry!" Tupp says.
"This is revenge for the other day, you Z-move user!" Zipp says.
"We'll make you cry this time!" Rapp adds.
"Get out of our way! We don't have time to play around as you do!" Kiawe says.
"What was that? You need to get through? Just hand over the goods, then!" Zipp taunts.
"Like we'll do that!" Golly says.
"Trying to show off?" Tupp asks. "What a joke! We hate Z-move users with a passion. Let's get 'em, fellas!"
They try to have Zubat, Salandit, and Garbodor use Venoshock, which causes the milk delivery to almost fall over.
"Don't worry, it just cut the belt." Kiawe says.
"So you guys hate Z-moves?" Ash asks Team Skull.
"Got a problem with that?" Tupp asks.
"Then let us show you what we're capable of!" Ash and Golly put both Fightinium-Z in the rings and does the pose, with Pikachu and Charizard mimicking their poses.
"This is our full power! All-out Pumeling!" Ash and Golly yell in unison.
The attack causes all three Pokemon to be sent back to Team Skull. Tupp yells, "We'll remember this, again!"
"They can use Z-Moves too?" Zipp frowns.
"We'll get our revenge next time!" Rapp yells as they retreat.
"We've got to get Pidgeot to the Pokemon Center." Golly says.
"Not bad, Ash, Golly." Kiawe says, impressed at their Fighting Type Z Moves. Ash and Golly are delighted to hear that.
Ash, Golly, and Kiawe manage to reach Harry's house just in time, much to the boy's delight. Harry asks Kiawe for a favor, namely to watch a battle between Kiawe and Ash as a part of the birthday party, and the two agree.
And here is a new chapter, since Ash doesn't have Electrium-Z right now, so I have him and Golly use Fightinum Z to defeat Team Skull in this chapter. I hope you like it and Ash will capture a new Pokemon in the next chapter.
