Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out my new story. I hope you like it. I've been working on it for awhile. The original idea came from my friend Lisa. Thanks Lisa! I've already written a good portion, but I'll reply to any comments. New chapters may include your suggestions. I'll give you credit if I do. The T rating is for language and sexual themes. I don't intend on writing full sex scenes.
Feedback is always welcome!
P.S.
Should I continue The Odyssey of Me? If so, where would you like to see the story to go? Is there something you want to know about Spencer's disability? What storylines/ characters do you want to see more of?
Disclaimer: I don't own SoN
Spencer enters the apartment she shares with Ashley holding a bag of groceries. She does so as quietly and carefully as possible. She knows her fiancé likes to sleep in on the weekends. Spencer is content to let her sleep. Plus, if she was awake, it might hinder Spencer's plan. First, Spencer made Ashley a big breakfast including her famous Carlin family chocolate chip pancakes which rank high on Ashley's favorite things list. It goes Spencer, family/friends, music then the pancakes, but they are her favorite food. After Spencer cooks the food, she puts everything on a tray and carries it to their bedroom she puts it on Ashley's bedside table so that she can wake her up. Spencer kisses Ashley on the lips as if she's trying to wake Sleeping Beauty. Ashley wakes returning the kiss. Ashley wonders "I'm not complaining, but what was that for?" Spencer shrugs and playfully says "I don't know... I wanted to wake you up, and that seemed like the funnest way." She laughed. Ashley's confused, but likes her fiancés methods. "Why did you want me up so bad?" Spencer points to Ashley's bedside table and says "I made you breakfast in bed. Ashley see's the food for the first time. She smiles really big and says "Pancakes!" Spencer smiles back at Ashley. She loves to make her happy. Then, Ashley continues. She's confused. "Everything smells so wonderful! How did I not realize it was here?" Spencer summons up her best Ashley Davies ego maniac impression. "Maybe you were overtaken by the intoxicating allure that is me?" Knowing that Spencer was only faking her conceded tone, Ashley played along, after a quick laugh she says "That's totally what did it. After that Ashley sits up in bed. Spencer puts the tray into place and Ashley devours the food.
When Ashley is eating food, she really likes she gobbles it down as if it's the first meal she's eaten in months. Spencer knows that trying to engage her in conversation while she's in this zone is pointless. Spencer waits a minute or two. Ashley has eaten everything on her plate, and drank all of her tall glass of milk. Ashley says "That was great, Spence! That might've been the best breakfast you've ever made!" Spencer happily smiles and adds "Thanks!" Ashley thinks for a second. "Heeey wait a second...If I didn't know better, I'd think you were hiding something from me." Spencer appears shocked. She asks "What do you mean?" Ashley continues her accusatory tone "The last time you cooked for me like this is when you broke my phone." Spencer assures Ashley that nothing's wrong. "I just wanted to do something nice for you since you've been working so hard at the label lately." Ashley appreciates the gesture, and wants to believe Spencer.
Spencer looks at her phone to see what time it is. Then, she tries to move the conversation past the awkwardness. "Aaanyway, I've gotta get to work!" Ashley interrupts playfully "Only you would wanna work on a Saturday..." She pauses, and a big smile forms on her face. It's as if she's come up with the world's most amazing idea ever. "Come back to bed! I'll put you to work!" Spencer returns her fiancé's smile, but knows she can't. "That's extremely tempting, but if I don't put the finishing touches on the movie soon...You might as well fit me for a strait jacket because I'm gonna lose my mind!" That makes both girls chuckle. Then Ashley says the following in a pouting fashion "Okay fine...as long as you're done in time to come to the charity auction tonight." Spencer answers reassuringly. "I wouldn't miss it!" The two share a quick peck on the lips. Then, Spencer leaves.
Ashley stayed in bed for a few more hours. She really likes getting in her extra hours of beauty sleep during the weekends. She finally got up and got ready for the event. Ashley wouldn't be Ashley if she wasn't showing some skin. She's wearing a black, lacey, sleeveless, crop top, to show off her toned abs. She's wearing a black mini skirt, and black ankle length heels with lace.
Later: Ashley is at the event. She isn't letting on, but she's hurt because Spencer is over an hour late. As time goes on, Ashley begins to worry that something has happened to Spencer. Just as Ashley's about to call Spencer for the tenth time, the blonde walks in. She's wearing a light blue, form fitting, silk dress with matching light blue heels. She may not be showing as much skin as Ashley, but she's rocking the look.
They see each other from across the room. They quickly close the gap between themselves. Spencer starts to apologize. "I'm so sorry Ash! Aiden and I got sidetracked editing." Ashley grabs Spencer by the arm and leads them to the hall way. That way they won't make a scene at the event. Once there, Ashley finally addresses Spencer. Ashley is too mad for excuses. "I tried calling you ten times!" Spencer is keeping calm, but it's getting harder and harder. "I turned it off while we were working. I guess I forgot to turn it back on." Ashley is still getting madder. "Save it! You said you'd be here, and you weren't…This isn't the first time you've done something like this either!"
Now Spencer is mad. "I missed part of this because I was working! But since you want to talk about who's there for who…I'm the one who's always there! When Christine was being a bitch, when your dad died, and everything in between! Since you apparently forgot I'll remind you…" Ashley is upset, but also confused. She thinks to herself "What is she talking about?" Then Spencer tells her. "Today's the anniversary of prom… you know, that time when my brother died and you bailed when I needed you the most!" Ashley pauses to try to find the right words. "You know I feel horrible about that. I'd go back in time and change it if I could…I wish I could, but I can't! What brought this up? It's been over a decade. I thought you were in a good place with it now." Spencer shakes her head in frustration. "Sometimes it feels like it hasn't been a decade, or even a second…usually on the anniversary, and his birthday. I just don't say anything because I don't want to bother anyone…. Oh, and if I'm really lucky…I start thinking about the drama between us and Aiden that night. I know we're all good now, but sometimes it hurts because I felt like you were choosing him." Ashley's done yelling. She attempts to speak calmly "Spencer I'm not gonna lie there was some kind of magnetic pole between Aiden and I, but I will always choose you!" She feels good about her response, but Spencer doesn't.
Spencer is now speaking in a weak voice as tears stream down her face. "I can't do this right now" She turns and runs out of the door to the venue. Ashley wants to run after her in the worst way, but she rightly believes that it might make things worse, that and she has to oversee the rest of the charity auction. The guitar Raife used to play "Hold On" at "Purple Venom's first concert. (A custom made, purple Gibson Flying V) is about to be auctioned off.
That's all for this chapter. I hope you're looking forward to the next one! Let me know what you think.
