Chapter 35: Time to Play

"I am going for a smoke, anyone else going?" Alex stood up about 25 minutes since Meredith's return.

"We are actually going to head out here in a few minutes, so we will go out with you." Addison looked to Pete and Erica who had all ridden together from the island. She held her look to Pete a little longer, knowing what she wanted tonight.

"I am going to head out too." Meredith said a little cautiously, hoping Derek knew how to exit the opposite way from where they would gather outside.

Mark saw about half of the officers' head outside knowing they were probably going for a smoke. They were drinking and couldn't smoke inside the pub/restaurant… a law in Washington.

Derek noticed Mark looking in the direction of the officers table, "What is going on?"

"Just looks like some are leaving or going to smoke. Speaking of which… I am dying here not smoking." Mark replied running his hands through his hair.

Derek chuckled, "I bet you are. You haven't had one in a few weeks. I am proud."

"Yeah, and I am going to try to stay clean on the boat, but you know how hard that shit is. Even you have to have a smoke here and there, I am sure." Mark looked at Derek frustrated.

"Maybe in my early days in the navy, but that shit will kill you. I like my lungs… and you should too." Derek mocked a bit but was serious.

"Yeah, yeah… I will be fine." Mark took a sip of water, electing to change his drink of choice when he realized he would be driving Derek's vehicle to the casino, probably taking a group of them since he had stayed away from the alcohol since learning he would be driving Derek's vehicle back to the island. Knowing them, they would try to put as many in one or two vehicles and would come back for the other vehicles after work tomorrow afternoon. He knew Derek would want his on the island though.

Derek looked around seeing very few of the officers sitting at the table knowing this would be as good a time to head out. He leaned into Mark, "I think now is a good time to go."

"They went to the right when they headed out and I bet they are around the building… that is where the outdoor seating is." Mark warned, not wanting to know any plans, but knew Derek wasn't walking back to the island which lead him to believe he was getting a ride back… from Meredith.

"Thanks." Derek nodded to Mark before giving him the keys to his Mazda CX-7 and looked him carefully in the eye, "Be careful in my fucking car."

"So, taking it racing up Mount Eerie is out?" Mark laughed, still talking low so that they really couldn't be heard by all the other conversations going on.

"Not funny. I will see you at work tomorrow?" Derek asked as a question.

Mark smirked, "I am staying away tonight. Hell, maybe I will get lucky too."

"Good luck with that." Derek laughed a little nervously thinking about what the night may bring with Meredith.

"Don't worry man… I have you covered here. Go." Mark said.

Derek didn't hesitate one bit to head out wondering exactly where Meredith would pick him up at, but he had no doubt she would drive around to look for him. He took Mark's advice and went the opposite way he had seen the others head out. He walked a block over and around the other building.

After a few minutes, he saw her hummer driving up. He smirked knowing she would never pass this opportunity up. She stopped and rolled down the window where he was standing at her window. "You need a ride mister? Looks like you are lost." She tried keeping a straight face but was failing miserably at it.

"Yeah, some hooker was supposed to come and get me, but looks like she forgot." Derek grinned, trying not to burst out laughing at this little play they were acting in.

"Well, looks like you may have to settle for me then." She said seductively.

He jumped up on the step-up rail on the side of her hummer and leaned in close to her lips, "There is no settling, you are the one I want." He said slowly… saying each word very clearly so that she got the full effect.

Meredith couldn't even breathe… having him that close to her lips telling her she is the one he wants. She swallowed hard, "Get in."

He backed up slightly looking into her eyes, "I am ready to show you who you belong to. The first thing you are going to do is let me drive. So, you can scoot on over."

"I will not." She said a little louder than she wanted but was quickly hushed by Derek pulling her into a passionate kiss that lasted a few seconds.

"If… you want more of this… you will do as I say." Derek growled low into her lips.

Meredith had no words. She didn't even question him anymore. She just moved over into the passenger side never taking her eyes off his. Derek opened the door and got into the driver's seat. He was going to control the force tonight… no matter what.
