Chapter 43: Getting off the Boat?

Derek felt the plane start the descent into San Diego, knowing this may be harder than he once thought. He and Meredith had talked a lot the day before and earlier this morning, but they wouldn't be getting that opportunity for a while. He hoped they could see each other before pulling out but he wasn't sure he would even see her. Closing his eyes, Derek thought about Friday night when he got home.

Mark kept him with a drink all night long, so he was pretty drunk. Derek stumbled into his bedroom, quickly shed all of his clothes, and pulled back the covers to his bed. He started to get in but noticed something black lying right under his covers. Her panties. He picked them up and couldn't help but smell the sweet aroma that radiated off of them, the only scent he wanted. After standing there for a few minutes, he got in his bed and quickly went to sleep with a smile on his face, smelling the distinct smells that could only come from a night of sex.

"Derek, we have landed." Mark pulled his best friend out of the trance he seemed to be in.

Derek opened his eyes, "Thanks."

"Will she be around?" Mark asked. He and Derek had a very short conversation about Meredith, but both kept it to a minimum.

"I don't know. I almost hope not." Derek winced slightly. He did want to see her. However, having to see her and not be able to look at her, touch her, kiss her, and do much more to her wasn't something he really wanted to do.

"You will do this. It will be shit, but you will." Mark said confidently. He knew this would be difficult knowing Derek was the kind of guy who was passionate about things in his life.

They walked into the terminal waiting for their baggage as Derek looked around wondering if she was there somewhere. He saw Pete and Erica, but that was it. He couldn't help but feel a little disappointed although she explained the rest of the officers that were already there wouldn't come to the terminal.

Cristina walked up, "Did you boys hear?"

Derek rolled his eyes at the use of boys. He actually didn't care to see her after her and Mark stayed at their house last night, being exceptionally loud.

"Boys, I have already told you I don't respond to that." Mark looked ahead with his lips cocked into a slight smile.

"Whatever. Looks like we aren't pulling out until tomorrow. I heard the CO telling Master Chief Bailey when I walked by them a few minutes ago." She explained.

"What?" Derek quickly shot his head to Cristina.

"Down boy. We will just have to sleep on the boat anyway unless we get permission to stay in a hotel. We should be able to since we are of higher rank and haven't gotten into any trouble. Could be fun." She smirked to Mark.

"Could be?" Mark raised an eyebrow.

"Still yet to be determined." She explained with a smirk winking to Mark.

"I need to um... Mark if my shit comes through, will you grab it if I am not back in." Derek immediately walked out of the terminal in the opposite direction of those that went straight outside to smoke. He took his phone off of his hip, finding and dialing her number immediately.

"You must have heard seeing as you must have just touched down and already called me." Meredith giggled into the phone.

"You knew." He asked with a curious smile.

"I did and now you have some things you need to take care of." Meredith couldn't wait to see him and had everything already planned out.

"What is that?"

"Well, you need to get permission from your chief to stay out. Hopefully there will be others requesting to stay out in town tonight." Meredith was a little nervous about how this would all work out.

"Actually, I think Sloan and Yang will be staying out in town."

"Are they?" Meredith asked.

"I think so. I was up all-night last night hearing them, so I would say yes." Derek explained.

"Hmmm… Okay, I have already made the arrangements, but I think it would be best if they stay at the same hotel. I am sure your chief will need to know where you are staying, and it would help…" This was the one part she was somewhat worried about.

"He will stay there, I am sure. We just need to know where." He could feel his body heating up a bit thinking about this unexpected turn of events.

"How about I text you the information." Meredith suggested.

"Sounds great. We will take a taxi; do we need to stop off and get some food?" Derek asked.

"No, I have everything lined out." Meredith replied in a sultry voice.

Derek felt his pants tighten just a bit trying to do everything he could to not think about her and what they would be doing tonight. "Ok, I will see you shortly then."

"I will be waiting for you. I am going to call down to get two more rooms, one in your and Sloan's name and one in Yang's name." Meredith said.

"I can't wait to see you." Derek growled trying to keep a clear head, knowing he had to go back in to get his gear.

"You really shouldn't want to wait. Bye." She hung up her phone.

Derek took a deep breath and walked back in. Mark saw him and walked over to him immediately.

"So?" Mark asked.

"She is actually getting us rooms and she is sending me a text of where we need to go. We just need to get permission." Derek explained.

"Yeah, I just talked to Chief. They aren't sure yet if they are going to let anyone stay in town, we might all have to stay on the boat except for Chiefs and up. There is a fairly early sailing time in the morning." Mark explained.

"Fuck. I have to get off that boat tonight."
