~ One Year Later ~

Thrawn gazed down at you lovingly, his eyes lit with that soft light that seemed reserved for you and you alone.

"She's beautiful," said Thrawn. "Almost as beautiful as her mother.

"Do you want to hold her?" you asked, holding out your daughter so Thrawn could take her from your arms.

He sat down gingerly on the side of your hospital bed to carefully accept his child.

The little girl had blue skin, albeit a few shades lighter than her father's, and she only had red irises as opposed to the entire eye being red. Your daughter was beautiful, healthy, and most of all loud. She had announced her entrance to the world with a rousing wail, but the doctors had assured you that that was perfectly fine and expected, even good. It was a sign that she had a strong, healthy pair of lungs.

You had been a little nervous when you told Thrawn about your pregnancy, the two of you had never discussed children or how a growing family would fit into his career as an admiral, and you were worried he would respond negatively. Your concern turned out to be unfounded. Thrawn had been delighted when you told him, sweeping you into his arms and telling you what a good mother you would make, how he had wanted children ever since the two of you were married, how beautiful your children would be, how he hoped the child would have your nose. You had giggled and kissed him, telling him you hoped your son or daughter had his eyes.

As you carried out your pregnancy aboard the Chimaera, Thrawn had eagerly prepared for the baby. He had had one of the rooms in his chambers converted into a nursery, somehow making that room on a cold, rough Imperial Star Destroyer soft and inviting, perfect for the newest addition to your family. Because that was what the two of you were, a family.

Thrawn looked over and met your eyes. "You have given me the most precious gift I could ever hope to receive, my sweet. I never thought I would have children, but here she is, and here you are. The two most beautiful creatures in the entire galaxy, and I get to spend the rest of my life with you."

You smiled softly. "And I get to spend the rest of my life with you. Thank you for being the best husband I could ever ask for. I love you, Thrawn."

"And I love you."

You leaned over carefully and your lips met Thrawn's in a chaste kiss. Your daughter awoke with a small coo, her red eyes blinking open to stare curiously at the world around her.

Thrawn looked down at her fondly. "She's going to grow up to be a strong woman, just like her mother. And we will guide her, love her, and show her the way."

"We will," you said fondly. "We will raise our children to be strong and courageous. Oh, and of course clever. Wise, clever, and thoughtful. Just like their father."

Thrawn looked over at you. "Children? You want more?"

You glanced at him nervously. "I mean, if that's what you want. I know we haven't talked yet, but I just…"

"More children sounds perfect, darling," Thrawn interrupted you gently. "We will have as many children as you want, we will love and cherish them. I look forward to continuing this new adventure with you, my love."

You leaned over to kiss him again. "And I with you."

You and Thrawn sat together holding your daughter, the entire galaxy behind you and the entire galaxy ahead. At that moment, time seemed to stand still. Just you, your family, and an endless sky of stars.
