Chapter 48: No Goodbyes

Derek got to the building Alex had described and knew he was in the right place. He knew on the other side of this shop that looked abandoned held the woman he was falling in love with. He took a deep breath and walked to the door. He took the key out of his pocket to unlock it. This was one time he wished he wasn't in his uniform, but smirked to himself, knowing he looked hot in his working whites. He put the key in the door and turned it to open the door.

Meredith sat down in one of the old booths they had yet to take out. She heard something fumble around the door and immediately became alert hoping it was Derek. It had been sometime since Alex left her which caused her to wonder if he was coming. She knew he would, but she couldn't help but doubt.

Derek immediately walked in the second the door opened and saw her sitting in the booth. Her eyes looked right into his the second he was visible. Derek's breath caught in his throat before he could mutter out a "hello."

"Hi." Meredith said standing up from where she was sitting.

"You're here." Derek cocked his head and smiled.

"I am." Meredith took a step to him.

Before either even realized it, they crashed into each other passionately letting their hands roam up and down each body as their lips touched with as much fervor as they could have.

"Oh Derek." Meredith moaned the second she felt his hand on her bare skin as he pushed her shirt up slightly.

"I didn't think I would… see you." Derek breathed, kissing her in between words.

"Not long." Meredith reminded Derek, but had to remember herself their time was very limited.

Derek pushed her up against one of the tables hard enough so that she could feel his hard erection against her. He pushed his chest away from her enough to get her small tee she was wearing off her body while her hands went to his uniform pants getting them off carefully so they didn't rip, but as quick as she could.

They worked on getting their clothes off but trying to stay as close together as they could. They wasted no time in completely undressing each other. Derek immediately moved his hand down to see if she was ready to take him, all of him.

The second Meredith felt his finger run over her drenched slit, she moaned in pleasure.

"Is that what I do to you?" Derek mumbled in her ear making sure to nibble her lobe before moving back down her neck.

"Yes, just thinking about you… does that to me." Meredith said just above a whisper with her eyes closed, letting herself feel the heat that was building inside her.

Derek moved his hand to her clit and rubbed it a little before moving his cock to her opening, begging for entrance. Out of the corner of his eye, he couldn't help but notice a big carpet patch that looked clean and would be better than the table which didn't seem sturdy to hold them.

"Come on." He whispered to her, grabbing her by her waist and moving the both of them to the carpet. Derek carefully laid her down as he admired her complete beauty from head to toe as her hair was fanned out around her.

"Derek?" She questioned with her eyes narrowing into his.

"You are beautiful." In one fluid movement, he moved down on top of her and entered her slowly, causing them both to moan loudly. They kept it slow, feeling every bit of what they were sharing emotionally and physically. Their pace did quicken, making sure not to be too rough on the carpet. Derek moved his hand down and rubbed her clit, helping her to her climax causing his own to spill into her.

Derek laid beside her, pulling her close to him so that they were facing each other. He pulled her hair back behind her ears and slowly pulled her in for a kiss, closing his eyes to savor it.

"I can't imagine not being able to have this tonight." Derek whispered.

"Me neither. When Alex…" She stopped to look to Derek to read his response.

"You have a wonderful brother. It is good you have him." Derek had a natural twinge of jealousy any man would have in the same situation, but he believed the words he spoke.

"He did this. Two hours ago, I was well on my way to drowning away my sorrows."

Derek laughed while kissing her on the cheek, "So, I heard."

Meredith got quiet and looked at Derek, "Alex was… he was nice, wasn't he?"

"He was. He did mention you might have had the bottle before he stepped in." Derek enjoyed this light moment with Meredith.

"Oh god." Meredith tried to hide her face.

"Hey, hey. I want to see that gorgeous face." He forced it back to him.

Meredith looked up at the ceiling and started laughing.

"What?" Derek joined her a bit, unsure what they were laughing about.

"We are in an old shop that is being re-done." Meredith explained.

Derek got a little serious and looked at her, "It doesn't matter where we are. I am with you and although the conditions are not ideal, I am grateful for the opportunity to be with you, all of you." He leaned his body into her and kissed her expressing all of his feelings in it.

"You know, I could get used to this." Meredith smiled when Derek pulled back a bit.

"Yes, me too." He wrapped her up in his arms.

Derek felt Meredith breath heavily, knowing they were both thinking the same thing. How would they survive? After this month, there will be their 2 – 3-month detachment, then their 6-month deployment. At least there would be port stops during those times, but they could go a month or so without stopping.

"Meredith. It is getting about time…" He trailed off.

"Yeah, I was hoping time would for once stand still." She let out a somewhat sarcastic laugh.

Derek smiled, "Yeah, I was kind of hoping that as well. But, we have tonight. When things get hard, we have to remember the good things." He kissed her on her forehead.

"We need to get dressed." Meredith sighed the second she said it.

"Yes, we should." Derek regretfully said sitting up carefully to get their clothes, both of them dressing rather quickly.

Meredith sat in the booth that was there watching Derek pull on his shoes and make sure his metals and pins were on straight. When he finished, he looked to her and smiled, "No goodbye."

"Definitely not." She was definitely putting on her brave face because inside she was desperately trying to forget the reality of this situation.

"Come here." Derek grabbed her hand and pulled her from her sitting position up to him so that they were face to face. "You be careful. When you are flying, on the flight deck, wherever. You be careful." In the last week, anytime she was in the air, he couldn't help but get a twinge of nervousness.

"I am invincible, didn't you know that." She giggled slightly.

"Yeah, keep telling yourself that." He playfully took his pointer finger and swiped her nose gently, causing Meredith to giggle a little more and wrinkle her face.

Derek took a deep breath, "I need to get going."

"Yeah." Meredith looked down.

He leaned in slowly to her and kissed her gently. "See you in the morning."

"Yeah." This was all Meredith muttered out of fear that more emotion would pour out of her.

"Meredith, this will be okay." He responded, knowing these one-word answers were her way of trying to deal with the situation.

"How do you know?" Meredith looked into his eyes, searching.

"Because not being with you isn't an option for me." Derek simply stated.

"Good, I can't lose you." Meredith couldn't believe she had become that girl, but somehow she had.

"I will see you." Derek knew this wasn't goodbye, but it was goodbye to these feelings he was having for her. It was all business for a month.

Meredith forced a small smile, "Yes. Go. You need to go now."

Derek wrapped his hands around her tightly as she did the same and they had a kiss to last them a month.

The forces aligned tonight, but what would they do over the next month?

How do you feel about Alex helping Derek and Meredith?
