Young at Heart

Three years ago at Darumaya.

Okami-san was fumbling with her purse and Kyoko couldn't understand the worry and anxiety which the kind woman was exhibiting. "Kyoko, are you sure you want me to go with you?"

Kyoko smiled at the elder woman, "I have two tickets to the convention and I don't have anyone else to go with. If you don't want to go…"

Okami-san snapped her purse shut and smiled at the young girl. "Oh, I want to go, I just assumed you would want to go with your boyfriend."

Kyoko blushed thinking of her prince, the glam rock idol, Sho Fuwa. He was pretty much just a person on her television anymore. "I don't really have a boyfriend." But Sho will be there anyway as one of the guests.

Okami-san thought it was sad, such a beautiful well-behaved girl not having anyone special, but Kyoko didn't want to talk about that. "Well, we better get going now or we'll never get into the panel."

The two women made it out of the press of fan girls (and boys) and started walking toward the refreshment center, set up at a hotel in the area. The refreshment center would have drinks and snacks. A Hollywood star, wearing a disguise in order to slip through the throng of fans, was walking into the lobby just as Kyoko and Okami-san were walking out.

The disguise was good, but it could not hide his identity from a true die-hard fan.

Okami-san stopped in mid stride and Kyoko halted in what she was saying as the older woman opened her mouth and with machine gun speed, "Omigadomigadomigadomigadomigad!" Okami-san just kept looking. It's Kuu Hizuri, Shuhei Hozu of Tsukigomori! I am three feet away from him! And he is just getting closer!

The celebrity looked at the two with a smile for the young girl, assuming it was her, but

raised one eyebrow at the middle-aged woman. Kyoko giggled and led Okami-san toward the lobby doors. "Okami-san I had no idea you were so young at heart."

Okami-san laughed with a little embarrassment, "I still watch re-runs even though it's off the air now. He was so handsome in real life…"

Kuu smiled as he listened to the fading conversation of the two women.

The end

The True Story:

My Mother and I went to the San Diego Comic-Con International so I could see Matt Smith of Doctor Who, and when walking through the lobby of the Hard Rock Hotel, my mother saw Eric Bellefleur of the SyFy Channel's "Haven", she said the line I gave to Okami-san, and he looked up, thinking it would be the 17 year old girl, not the 38 year old woman. At seeing my mother he cocked his right eyebrow and smiled a small and amused grin.
