Marinette Dupain-Cheng turned over in her bed to slap the screeching alarm that echoed throughout her bedroom at six am. The same time it would go off every morning, five days a week; starting today. She sat up in her bed, extending her arms upwards to stretch out the mid evening cracks while yawning. She eyed the outside world from her bedroom window.

The world was blooming with early morning life, the sun had begun to chase away the loom of the night time sky, birds could be seen soaring through the skies, soaking in the warmth of the sun.

Paris was slowly waking up.

She on the other hand was not…

Sluggishly she stood, placing a hand over her lips to hide away the yawn that escaped. Another day-another school year.

She was looking forward to the new school year. She hadn't seen much of her friends during the summer months, most had gone on vacation with their families. Others were busy with college things, preparing for enrollment once they graduated high school. So it would be nice to see them, hear their stories and share laughs once again.

On the other hand she wasn't ready for the year either. Endless amounts of homework, tests and crying study times. She also wasn't ready to see Chloe Bourgeois again. That rich spoiled brat was the throne on everyone's side but especially Marinette's. This year though, Marinette decided she wasn't going to stand for the endless teasing from Chloe. It was time to stand her ground.

Marinette grabbed clothes from her dresser, took a shower and brushed her teeth-hoping she had enough time to sit down for breakfast but seeing as the clock seemed to have time traveled to her departure time, she sighed. No time for breakfast. She could eat at the school but their food was so bland compared to her home meals.

Grabbing her bag from beside her desk she raced towards her bedroom door, shutting it behind her before heading down to the kitchen where her mother had been, cleaning and preparing to go down and open the bakery.

"Hello mama." Marinette greeted, still rather tired but trying so hard to hide it. She watched as her mother turned on her heels from the kitchen sink to meet her gaze, smiling as always.

"Good morning, dear. Are you ready for your first day?"

"Of course! I'm ready to see my friends again at least." Marinette replied, stepping over to her mother, kissing her on the cheek. "Are my first day back cookies downstairs in the bakery with dad?"

"Yes, freshly made too, he was up super early making them for you."

Marinette nodded, leaning in to kiss her mother on the cheek one last time before departing from the kitchen, heading down another flight of stairs that lead to the bakery where her father had been waiting.

He handed her the box with enough cookies for her entire class before kissing her cheek the same way she had done to her mother before saying goodbye.

Scooping the box up quickly, she waved before stepping out the door into the busy sidewalk.

She strolled her way through the city, making fast time towards her school building, clutching the box of baked goods close to her chest. Marinette had always been a clumsy girl so she was taking the extra precaution with hopefulness that she would make it to the building without dropping the box at least once.

She tried not to focus on anyone, she hated making eye contact with people on the street and since she was carrying baked goods she was bound to attract some sort of attention. So Marinette kept her eyes low.

She vered around a corner and made way to the crosswalk, waiting patiently for the crossing sign to flash the safe signal but eyeing more of the older man who didn't seem to notice the sign or the line of cars racing towards his direction.

Marinette doesn't know what kicked in, some sort of adrenaline coursed through her blood and something screamed in her head. Help him. She didn't know whose voice, it didn't sound like her own. She listened to it however or rather her body responded. Her mind was screaming for her to stop but the voice beckoned her to rush towards him.

He was an older man, shorter than her. He was hunched over his cane walking slowly across the road but his eyes were looming upon the faces around him, as if he was looking for someone..

Then he saw her.

Reaching out, Marinette grabbed the hand that held the cane and pulled him quickly out of the road way as a car zoomed quickly by, unfortunately the saving resulted in her dropping the box. She grumbled watching as the box opened upon impact and several of the baked goods fell out only to be stepped on.

"Thank you, young lady." The man was breathless, still hunched over. His eyes staring down at her as she picked up the box, sighing with relief. She still had plenty.

"What a disaster…"

"It's fine, I'm no stranger to disasters." Her laughter was meaningful. "Besides, there's plenty left." She held the open box out to him, smiling as he took one before thanking her one more time.

"See you around!" She waved, before running off, not noticing the man's following stare and smile..

. . .

Marinette was five minutes late, nothing new. After getting a scornful lecture from the lady at the front desk she was handed a late pass and walked shamefully to her classroom where the lesson had already begun. She sighed when she handed the note to the teacher, Miss. Bustier while receiving another scowl of disappointment. Pretending not to notice it or the stares of her fellow classmates she made her way to her seat next to Alya who looked at her with a sympathetic look.

"You overslept?" Her friend asks in a whisper, careful not to catch the teacher's listening ear.

"No, I helped an old man cross the road. Fell in the process, nothing new."

Alya snickered, "so heroic."

"Shut up.." Marinette's tone was annoyed, turning her attention to the lesson.

Only three minutes into class and she was bored and annoyed out of her mind. She surely had planned for the day to go a lot better than she expected.

Though she didn't expect anything less..after all she was Marinette Dupain-Cheng after all.

Marinette felt herself slip from reality and fly away to the land of daydreaming, where no trouble ever found her. Her eyes fell in the direction of the window as she dozed and thought of everything that wasn't school related.

The sound of the classroom door dragged her attention back to reality, her gaze following her fellow classmates. Her eyes landed on a figure that had stepped into the classroom.

It was a boy.

He was tall, six inches over her at least, with the blondest hair she had ever seen in her life. His eyes were a shade of green that reminded her of the deep forest, they were deep and mysterious. Marinette averted her gaze from them for it felt as though she would have become lost in them.

He had a smile, one that was the warmest of all smiles, enough to make the heart of the coldest woman melt upon the sight of it..

"Adrien!" The annoyance of Chloe's voice interrupted the silence and Marinette's thoughts. She looked back from the boy named Adrien to Chloe.

"Hi, Chloe." He greeted softly, waving at her.

Great.. One of her friends.

He was a pretty boy and looked nice but knowing now he was friends with Chloe, Marinette seemingly lost interest and placed her focus on her notebook-where no notes were written.

"Oh, I didn't know we'd be getting a new student." Miss. Bustier said, placing her chalk on the desk at her side, approaching the boy. She offered him a warm smile.

"Yeah.. new student.." The boy said, slapping his hand to the back of his neck, looking nervous now., as if he was hiding something.

"Well, welcome to our school. What is your name?"

"It's Adrien Agreste."

"Adrien Agreste?" Marinette repeated the name, gasping under her breath. Adrien Agreste as in the famous fashion designer's son? In a public school? Why and how?

That explains why Chloe knew who he was when he walked in..

"It's nice to meet you." Miss Bustier stated. "You can find a seat anywhere you like."

"Sit by me Adrien!" Chloe called out again, this time her screaming seemed even louder than it had earlier, Miss Bustier turned to face the girl, eyes narrowing in a threatening warning.

"As much as I want to..the seats are full." Adrien said, turning to find the seat beside Nino empty and so that is where he had decided to be, ignoring Chloe pleas and shouts for the other students to move.

Adrien sat down, shaking his head at the blonde girl before turning to face Nino who was eyeing him up and down with caution.

"Hey dude, names Nino." He said, tipping his hat.

"A-Adrien." The boy said back, looking nervous, which Marinette caught and found interesting.

"Nice to meet you dude." Nino said in a caring tone. "No need to be nervous, we are all friendly here..well most." His eyes averted to Chloe.

Adrien nods but says nothing else. He turns his gaze to Miss. Bustier who has returned to teaching.

Marinette places her eyes back on the board, focusing on the lesson and trying not to daydream or focus on anything else.

But something else always pops up.

Marinette is jolted when a hand slaps the desk in front of her. Her eyes follow up the arm until her eyes meet the steel blue ones of Chloe. Her face is filled with a blistering frustration that is burning. "Dupain-Cheng you need to move. I'm gonna sit behind my Adrien."

"I'm not moving, I've already unpacked my bags and Alya and I sit here every year."

"Well that changes now. Move." The girl spits, her venomous voice getting nothing but an eye roll.

"Go back to your seat, Chloe." Marinette hisses, narrowing her eyes upon the girl.

"Chloe!" Miss. Bustier hollers, turning to face the standing girl. "Please sit back down in your seat, you are interrupting the class."

"But I need to sit by my Adrien!" Chloe protests, practically crying out as if someone shot her.

"Sit. Down." The teacher's voice is lower, colder and snappier than it had been previously. Chloe growls but listens, slowly making her way back to her seat, defeated.

But Marinette could feel her eyes mentally stabbing her. She was going to regret this.

Alya nudged her, giving her an approval look.

. . .

The day dragged like any other school day. The teachers all did their welcome back speeches and some asked everyone to share about their summer, most of it was babbling stuff that could have been considered pointless but Marinette wasn't complaining at all.

She'd stepped into the final class for the final day, seeking out her seat while noticing Chloe already present in the room, something she never usually was. Marinette only rolled her eyes and found her assigned seat and the sight of it.

"What are you doing?" She asked, irritated, glaring her eyes down at the blonde boy who arrived earlier. He was bent down by her chair, hands on her seat with a piece of what looked like chewed gum in his fingers.

"I uh-"

"You were placing gum on my seat? Hoping I'd sit in it? What kinda lame person does that.." She said, eyes glancing to Chloe who smirked in her direction.

"No!" Adrien cried out, standing, reaching for her but retracting. "No, I wasn't.. I was-"

"Figures, anyone who is friends with Chloe would act in such a poor manner."

"I wasn't…"

"Just go sit in your seat, I'll remove it." Marinette said harshly, taking a step forward, causing the boy to take a step back. His eyes lowered as if he felt ashamed and perhaps he should have. So she thought. He tucked his bag closer to his body and stepped away, taking a seat in the back.

Marinette removed the gum from the seat and approached the waste basket to dispose of it but the sound of Chloe's laughter made something in her snap. Something dark and treacherous.

"Awe, Dupain-Cheng, can't you take a little joke?"

"Joke?" Marinette repeated the word, venom plaguing her voice. "Do you rich people think this kind of thing is humorous?"

"Well, I can't speak for every rich person but for me it is pretty- '' Chloe's sentence fell as something struck her on the top of her head, something sticky and moist, glancing up while her hand followed she laced her fingers over it..

Gum.

Marinette had thrown the gum that had been placed in her seat.

She had a smile on her face, one that even she could have felt was more cocky than she wanted but the deed was done and the damage had been rolled.

"You fucking bitch." Chloe hissed, standing from her seat, her pace was fast as she approached Marinette, arms reached up to shove the girl back and God knows what else she had planned. Marinette readied for the assault.

But it never came.

Instead, between the two fuming girls was an even fuming teacher who glared down at both of them, eyes as sharp as daggers piercing into both of the girls' very souls. "That is enough." His tone was as piercing as his eyes which were a gorgeous green. "Chloe, go to the office now. Marinette sit down."

"Why do I have to go to the office? She threw gum at me!" Chloe screamed at the teacher, pointing to her tainted hair.

"I didn't see it so I can't assume. I know you Chloe, you'd put that there just to get someone else in trouble."

"Mr. Jones Mari-" Sabrina began but shut up when the man turned to stare her down, knowing the girl would take Chloe side on anything.

The blonde huffed, gathered her things and left the room while mummering how ridiculous this situation had been and that she'd be speaking with her father.

Marinette sat in her seat and allowed the lesson of the day to clear her thoughts of the situation…

. . .

The day had ended, Marinette was the first one to her locket and out the school door, planning to miss Chloe as she knew the girl would hold that vendetta against her for a while. She waved to Alya and Nino as the two strolled in the opposite direction of her.

Marinette stopped, watching the boy she had hollered at earlier come from the school building, watching as his face twisted into one that was unamused and stressed. She followed his gaze, finding a silver car parked along the street with two people standing by it, one woman and one man. They were saying something to him but she was too far to hear what was being said. Passing them Marinette could see that man from earlier walking in her direction, slow and steady.

Then he fell.

Marinette had turned on her heels to go help him but stopped when she saw Adrien race over to get him back on his feet..something she thought he wouldn't have done. She saw them exchange smiles before the boy returned to the two impatient people who got into the vehicle..

Adrien did the same; she only watched as the car drove off.

Marinette decided she would continue home. Her house wasn't far so she counted her lucky stars on that-Chloe wouldn't be bothering her at all for the rest of the day.

Upon arriving home she stepped into the bakery section of her house, where her parents were busy with customers coming and going. She made way to them, kissing them both on the cheek and telling them she had a great first day before proceeding to the living section of her home.

She ran up the stairs to her bedroom, shutting the door when she got in. She strolled to her desk and sat within her chair, turning towards her computer. She reached out to turn on the monitor when something caught her eye.

Infront of her keyboard sat a small octagon shaped box. It was black with some weird red markings on the top, she couldn't make out what it was.

"What is this?" She asks, confused. She grabbed the small object and pulled it closer for a better view. She was hesitant but slowly opened it, gasping out in panic when a light emerged from the darkness inside. Marinette watched as it darted out and swirled around her causing her to drop the box and shield her face. Her eyes clamp shut.

When she saw the illumination vanish from the darkness that kept it from fully engulfing her she popped her eyes open. The light had vanished and something replaced it, something small and red, with a single black dot on its head. It had a face but its eyes were shut but only until it stretched and opened them, Marinette stared into eyes as blue as her own. "Hello," it said suddenly.

Marinette's eyes widened, it talked. This little creature could talk as well as float.

She felt her panic rise and she let out a blood curdling scream that could have woken the very dead itself. "A mouse!" She cried out, sitting up and taking a step back, nearly taking herself out in the process.

"I'm not a mouse." The creature said, floating towards her but stopping when she noticed that Marinette's fright had only been increasing. "Relax! I'm not going to hurt you, Marinette."

"How do..you know my name?"

"You've been chosen." The creature smiled. "My name is Tiki and I'm the Kwami of creation."

"A Kwami?"

"We are magical beings that grant you humans superpowers. Yours is the power of creation." Tiki said softly, careful not to say anything that would frighten the girl again.

"A superhero?" Marinette repeated, the words rolling off her lips. She was in a sea of confusion. She was chosen? For what and why? "You got the wrong girl-If I was a superhero the only power I would have is super dorkness and clumsiness."

"Not true," The creature said, still smiling. "You are the next chosen. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Marinette runs a hand over her face, this was a lot to take in. She was chosen? She was chosen to be a superhero? Who would ever choose someone like her and why? She wasn't special.

"So..what do I do?"

Tiki smiled at her. "You'll know soon, once he finds out we have been awakened."

"What..do you mean? And who else has been awakened? Besides you?"

"The one who stole two of my kind." Tiki says simply, adding. "And the Kwami of destruction."

"Destruction!?" Marinette says, frantic once again. "That Kwami is…"

"Good. As long as he is in the right hands. He's my second half. We balance one another." Tiki says softly, getting a bit closer to the girl. "You'll meet him soon but for now I need to tell you how to transform. From there you can find a manual on how to work everything."

"This is a lot.." Marinette furrowed her brows, frowning.

"It sounds like a lot but it really isn't. All you have to do is say spots on to transform."

"Spots on?"

Marinette said once she placed the final earring in her ear, widening her gaze when she watched the little red creature begin to glow and swirl, in a blink of an eye she vanished into the earrings causing Marinette to freak out for the hundredth time. She felt funny-her whole body singled as a pinkish glow took over her, shaping and shifting into something that was far from any human understanding.

After several moments the light faded, leaving Marinette with attire she had never seen before. A latex suit covered from her neck down, red with black spots. A mask covered her eyes, and a yo-yo wrapped around her waist. Marinette didn't recognize who she was and the only thing she could do was try to call for the Kwami who didn't respond back.

. . .

Adrien Agreste was already in a foul mood, after a lecturing from his fathers secretary, Natalie he was lucky to get another scolding from his father once he walked through the doors of his home. His father had been waiting, impatient and glaring down upon the boy with those cold, unwelcoming eyes. Adrien had done something in the man's eyes that was considered bad. He'd snuck out and went to a public school, which in the eyes of this man was below them both.

Adrien had disobeyed the rule of his father.

The boy sighed and said nothing as he was sent to his room.

Today blew hardcore, he had wanted to go to school and meet people, make friends. He was tired of the isolation, he'd been cooped up for so long he'd felt he was going crazy.

But he had made an enemy. That girl Marinette Dupain-Cheng thought ill of him because she didn't see that it was Chloe who placed the gum in her seat, he had just wanted to remove it.

He sighed, his eyes falling on the coffee table in front of his couch. His eyes landed on the thing that stood out amongst the items on it. His eyes found that box.. That same box.

But unlike Marinette, Adrien was more eager for surprises.

He opened up the box without even bothering to study, his eyes glimmering with excitement when the same light that glimmered in her room, glimmered in his.

But the creature was far different from the other. The black feline woke and stretched, only eyeing the boy who was confused now as to what it was but curious.

"Cool, you're like a-"

"Gene? Get that a lot but I'm much cooler than him." It said, flickering its ears back. "Names Plagg and I am starving."

Suddenly Adrien found himself chasing the little creature, trying all he could to catch him and when he finally did he held onto the creature tight. "I still don't know what you're doing here."

"I'm the Kwami and your ability is the power of destruction. Understand?"

Adrien shook his head…

"I hate explaining..but if you got food I may be willing to explain."

. . .

In the deepest pits of darkness there was a man who stood among it. He did not fear the cold that swooned around him or the loneliness it brought. He felt both of those things for a long time. He embraced it all actually. He felt powerful in it..he felt mysterious.

He was the definition of everything dark.

He'd been waiting a long time for this day. He would have waited eons for it because it was the only thing that made him strive, breath..live.

He clutched the Miraculous of the Miraculous before placing it on himself, watching the creature emerge from the gem. He didn't allow the creature to speak, didn't need to hear about what it could do because he knew already. "Nooroo, dark wings rise." He said, sternly and the creature obeyed, glowing only to swirl back into the Miraculous but this time to transform the man into something more sinister.

A villain.

HawkMoth stood in the center of his domain, watching as the light of day began to creep through the window as the outside hatch shifted open, illuminating all in the room. He listened as the silence was replaced by the wave of white wings, fluttering all around him.

A butterfly found its way to his palm, his fingers curling around it, hiding it away from his own eyes. He watched as a black manifestation gleamed on the outside of his hands.

When he opened his fingers, the white creature had become as black as the darkness snickering in the corner.

"It's time to fly my little Akuma and let the world know that I too have awakened."

The miraculous of destruction and creation had finally been activated.

As the creature flew from the room the man stood there, smiling and waiting.

. . .

Hello everyone!

I am starting this story so that I can have something to work on while I'm drawing a blank with my other story "The White Akuma." I'm not abandoning it, just have some writer's block that'll go away soon.

My second story "When The Season Changes" is going to be removed because I forgot where I was going with the story and I don't like how it is turning out so far. It'll be back with much better writing.

I hope you enjoyed this story!

This will be labeled as a mature story-there will be several things that may trigger some of you. I will place a TW where they appear that way you can skip if you don't want to read that part.
