…..
For some reason the only thing Marinette could think about the following day wasn't the weird muck creature that failed to attack the city but of the strange incident she'd come across earlier that day. That seemed to be the one thing that plagued her mind. Those large claw marks across the vehicle, the blood on the floor. She couldn't help but wonder if she should have investigated as LadyBug. Something about the situation wasn't sitting right with her.
What really threw her off is that she never saw anything on the news about the incident, nothing was reported, even when she looked it up online.
She found her mind scattered brained both outside class and inside. Alya must have brought her back to reality multiple times. To make matters worse a simple blonde haired girl seemed to pick at her off and on, giving Marinette a rage she desperately tried to bottle up but found it more and more complicated the more she did so.
However what brought all those thoughts to a halt was when the fashion model put Chloe in her place, telling her to shut her mouth and to leave Marinette alone. This is what confused her. This boy who did the whole gum ordeal was now standing up for her and telling Chloe off. She thought the two were friends. Maybe she was wrong about Adrien? No… That couldn't be it. He was just putting on a show for her.
When the bell for the final class of the day rang she never felt more relieved to leave. It was finally Friday and the weekend had embraced them with its glory. Though the weather outside wasn't so good. Dark clouds had blanket over the sky, dropping large raindrops from their depths of depression.
She'd be walking home in this.
"Great…" She muttered out, tucking her books into her backpack. She caught the figure looming behind her and jumped in fright but felt relief when it wasn't Chloe or some random Akuma. It was Adrien, holding an Umbrella. His face was soft as a small smile slipped over his features, lighting his eyes in a way Marinette could describe as beautiful. They were like a forest being embraced with the early morning sun's auerate.
"Hey.." He said softly, his smile falling when she turned away.
"Look.." He began, clearing his throat. "I wasn't trying to put the gum on your seat..I was taking it off. Chloe is a bitch and was the one who did it. I just wanted to…make sure you didn't sit in it."
His voice sounded honest. Marinette turned to face him again, his eyes held no hint of mischievous, no glint of lying.
"I have been homeschooled all my life…I never had friends, this is all new to me." He states, holding out the umbrella to her. "Here…This will keep you dry."
"Than-Thanks." She stuttered, gripping the metal pole of the umbrella. "Maybe I was a bit harsh assuming."
"It's okay, we all do silly things. Hey. Maybe we could be friends?" He suggested.
"I'd like that.." She tells him, her own lips curling into a smile.
That moment, Marinette could feel her heart pounding against her ribcage, she swore she could hear it too. Her cheeks burned in a way she never felt before. They just stared at one another until the sound of the car horn blared, indicating Adrien had to leave.
"Well..see you tomorrow." He said, waving.
Marinette nodded her head, waving goodbye before stepping out into the rain, shielded by the umbrella.
The walk home wasn't far-it wouldn't have been too bad if she got a little rain water on her but she was grateful for the umbrella. She could hear her Kwami snickering in her sachet.
"What's so funny?" She muttered, trying to sound grumpy.
"Just that little blush on your face." Tiki responded.
Marinette rolled her eyes. "I was not blushing."
"You so were." Tiki giggled in proteste, causing her holder to sigh.
"Okay maybe a little." She agreed, adjusting her sachet.
A few more blocks passed by before she turned onto the corner that led to her home. This was also the corner where that incident occurred. She took notice that the law enforcement were still investigating the area, searching for clues no doubt. The vehicle was gone though, probably taken to one of their sites to be checked out with special equipment.
"Marinette?" Tiki's voice came from the bag at her side.
"Hm?"
"Is everything alright?" She asked her holder, concern seeping in her voice.
"Yeah. I just wish I could have helped whoever was in that accident.
….
School…it was dreadful, the homework, the assignments, being tardy, the scolding and worst of all, Chloe. Marinette didn't know how she could do it everyday but she did it. She managed to finish her homework, turn in assignments, and she needed to work on her tardiness. She even managed to keep Chloe at bay with her nonsense.
But it wasn't all that bad. She had her friends at least and even made a new one this year. Adrien had proved to be the kind hearted person he'd presented himself as when she spoke to him under the rain a few days ago. Ever since then, he's hung out with her group and fits in extremely well surprisingly.
She can't put her finger on it but every time she's around him, her stomach does somersaults and the world around her spins. Could it be possible that she was developing a small crush on him? No..That couldn't be it, could it? She's only known him for a few days. How could she have a crush on someone she'd just met? Then again…was it wrong to have a crush on him? After all..he was a famous model. Maybe she was just having one of those fits fangirls have.
"Good morning Everyone!" Mrs. Bustier's voice called out from the front of the class, catching Marinette's attention. She hadn't even realized she'd been staring at the back of Adrien's head this whole time.
God she hoped he didn't turn around and find her staring, that would be awkward.
"Today we have a new student joining us." Mrs. Bustier sounded delighted. She slapped her hands together and did a small hop on her heels as she spoke. Quickly turning towards the classroom door, motioning for someone to come in.
In usion the entire class followed her teacher's gaze to the door, noticing a slender finger slowly step into the room. A girl..she stopped a few feet from Mrs. Bustier before turning towards the class.
"This is Elise Feral, all the way from BerkShire Vermont, located in America if anyone didn't know." Her delightful tone never faded.
Marinette took a second to observe the girl. She was short, probably a few inches shorter than herself. Long black hair that glimmered stunningly in the sunlight casting through the windows, perfectly tanned skin that was the perfect shade of olive. Her eyes were a stunning green, one that could easily rival against Adrien. While Adrien's reminded her of a forest, this girl reminded her of Emeberal's vibrant and stern.
She was dressed in a black hoodie with bluejeans and boots that matched her hoodie. A baseball cap with a weird symbol in the center of it, rested on top of the girl's head.
"It's a pleasure to be a part of this class." Elise says calmly, offering the class a warm smile, highlighting her cheekbones.
"BerkShire? My mom has been to Vermont and BerkShire is a place that smells like cow shit and boredom." Chloe blurts out, laughing at her so called funny insult.
Marinette simply rolls her eyes before setting them back onto Elise who just kept smiling but had moved from where she originally was standing.
Silent the class remained, besides Chloe who continued to laugh until Elise slammed her hand onto the table in front of the blonde.
"Originally I lived in Burlington, a wild crazy city where action happens but I moved to BerkShire because I loved the rural quietness. Best of all there were no annoying rich bitches." Elise's tone which had seemed sweet at first had turned dangerous and frightening, even Marinette shivered.
"So you move to Paris? A city?" Chloe asks, yawning unitimindted by the girls' close proximity.
"I wanted to see what the buzz was about in the city of love, maybe find a good looking lad to take back home with me when I go. Know any?" Elise cooed.
"Pfff, the only one here who is even worth looking at is Adrien but alas, country girl..He's mine." Chloe bragged, eyeing the blonde boy who simply stared at her.
Elise snickered, "We'll see." Patting Chloe on the cheek. "See you around city girl."
"Now, now, enough." Mrs. Bustier demanded. "Please no fighting and swearing in my class. Elise, would you mind taking a seat somewhere so I can begin my lesson?"
"My apologies, ma'am." Elise replied with a flick of her hat.
Marinette watched as the girl strolled past them. Her lips were curled into a sinister smile that screamed with glee.
"That girl is something else. I have to say I admire her attitude." Alya whispered.
"Me too, not many stand up to Chloe." Marinette whispered back, turning her head slightly to catch a glimpse of the girl.
"I think she'd be a good addition to our friend group. We need more brutes if you ask me." Alya snickered, gazing at Chloe who was clearly shooting glares every now and again at the new student.
…
The bell rang for the first lunch period, Marinette was grateful. She had skipped breakfast on the account of running late to school and her stomach did nothing but growl and disrupt her during the last few hours. The lunchline seemed to have dwelled on forever.
When she could finally have a seat and eat her lunch she noticed that none of her friends had yet arrived at the cafeteria. She did however find the new student who seemed to be sitting alone, poking at her food with intense curiosity.
Marinette was always nervous about talking to new people so it took all of her courage to make her way towards the table.
"Do you mind if I sit beside you?" She asked, reaching the table.
"Eh?" Elise responded, lifting her gaze to capture Marinette's. "Oh, sure, go ahead. Hey you're in my class ain't ya?"
"Yeah, I am. I'm Marinette. It's nice to finally be able to introduce myself." Marinette replied, smiling warmly.
"I'd tell you my name but chances are, you know it already."
"I was paying attention." Marinette offered the girl a wink. "I also wanted to apologize for the unwelcome warming from Chloe, she can be a real-"
Elise held a hand up towards Marinette, her eyes glimmering with amusement. "Please do not apologize. You didn't do anything. Besides, I found it rather entertaining."
"Is that so?"
"I love toying with rich people Or I assume she is rich Just by her attitude.. Getting under their skin is a passion of mine." Elise cackled. "It's nice to finally have some fresh meat to toy with."
Marinette was about to open her mouth to speak again when the sound of several trays striking the table distracted her. She took her gaze from Elise to the noise, finding Alya, Nino and Adrien joining their table.
"Mind if we join?" Alya asked.
"The more the merrier." Elise gestured.
"Can I say how incredibly cool you were in class today?" Nino stated. "No one ever talks back to Chloe. Mainly because her father is the mayor and her mom is a famous fashion designer."
"It sure was something." Alya nodded.
"I enjoy talking back to people who believe they're above everyone else." Shrugging her shoulders, Elise scooped up and spoonful of her foot and took a bite.
"Let me introduce everyone to you, Elise. This is Nino, Alya and Adrien." Marinette pointed to each of her friends as she introduced them.
"It's a pleasure to finally have names with faces." Elise told them, her eyes trailing to each one before falling onto Adrien.
"So you're the one this Chloe seems to be smitten with? Boy won't she be jealous if she sees you sitting here with me." Elise Kidded, giving Adrien a wink.
"Uh..Yeah..I.."
"Relax, Adrien. I ain't really gonna steal anyone away from Paris, I was merely teasing Chloe."
Marinette couldn't help but giggle. Perhaps Alya was right, adding this girl to their group would be good.
"So why did you come to Paris anyway? You said you liked the rural area." Alya asked, innocently, meeting the girl's gaze.
"Wanted a change, Vermont is nice but after a while it's bland. There's no amusement parks, zoos or anything." Elise replied.
"Nothing? What do they do there for fun?" Nino added.
"Drink beer and spin truck tires. Once every couple months they have festivals with rides but they only last for three or four days. It gets boring."
"I was reading somewhere that Vermont was famous for Cabot cheese, Maple syrup and Ben N Jerry's." Alya spoke.
"All true. The best cheese, maple syrup and ice cream you can eat."
Adrien tugged at his shirt, trying to settle the Kwami hiding inside.
The gentle conversation was disrupted by a hand slamming on the table inches from Elise's tray, slammed down in the same manner Elise had done to Chloe earlier. "What the hell is this?!" The voice of Chloe was loud and obnoxious as it echoed against the walls of the Cafeteria.
"Ah.. must you be so damn loud?" Elise's question was stated with boredom, as she rested her head against the palm of her hand, eyeing the blonde haired girl.
"Why are you sitting with MY Adrien?!" Chloe demanded, tapping her foot against the tiled floor.
"Yours? I don't see your name on him anywhere." Elise replied with the same bored tone. "Besides, he chose to sit with me, maybe because his friends are sitting with me? Hm?"
"You're a cocky bitch, huh?" Chloe hissed between her teeth.
For a moment the two stared at one another, Elise wore a bored expression while rage painted Chloe's.
Something glimmered in the blonde's blue gaze as it dropped from Elsie's face to the section of the table in front of her. With little effort, Chloe shifted her hand from the table to the tray, flicking her wrist she managed to do the most unthinkable. She'd thrown the tray of Elise's lunch at her. The food landed all over the girl's hoodie. "Keep it up, Country girl." Chloe challenged.
"What the hell is wrong with you Chloe?" Alya growled.
"Not cool." Nino muttered.
"Seriously Chloe?" Marinette and Adrien had said at the same time.
Chloe eyed them all before bringing a hand to her chest. "She had it-"
Elise moved-at a dangerously fast speed, no one had anticipated her movement to be so quick. Her fingers grasping the collar of Chloe's shirt. It was as if Chloe weighted nothing to Elise as she lifted her up.
"Listen here you fucking blonde bitch, I don't come from a place where we girls fight like sissys, we fight like the big boys. If you fuck with me again, I will make sure to mess you up so much that even plastic surgery won't be able to help you. Got it?" The tone of voice was low and threatening. Chloe's face had twisted to panic and sudden fear. She simply nodded before being dropped on the ground where she quickly scurried away.
"Well, I'd love to stay but now I must go home and change. It was nice to sit and have lunch with you, sorry it had to be interrupted." Elise told the group still staring at her in awe and wonder. She saved before she walked away, leaving the Cafeteria.
The remainder of lunch was silent.
….
The butterfly fluttered silently through the skies, unseen and unheard as expected. It's destination was the school which luckily for it wasn't too far from where it was released. It snuck in through an open window and flew close to the ceiling, avoiding any eyes that would give it away. When it located the blonde girl who'd been humiliated in front of the entire Cafeteria it quickly descended, slipping into the sunglasses on her head.
The dark purple light casted across the blonde's face.
"Hello, Chloe, I am HawkMoth. You were humiliated by a girl who should be at your feet begging for forgiveness. I'm giving you the power of PSI which will allow you to punish her for her crime against you. In return you will bring me ChatNoir and LadyBug's Miraculous."
"She'll pay for making a fool of me." Chloe promised before the black goo engulfed her.
The entire class had began to panic at this point, Mrs. Bustier had begun to evacuate the students before sounding the Akuma alert on the side wall next to her desk.
The black goo had twisted and alerted Chloe, disappeared to leave what it had Manifested. Chloe's attire had gone from the yellowish color to midnight purple suit that included both gloves and boots. A dome had become of her head, inside swirling was a purple mist that hid the object the Akuma was located in.
When Chloe spoke her voice was monstrous and cunning. "My name is DeathRaider and you all shall face a painful demise! Starting with that wretched American!"
DeathRaider had started to walk towards the door of the classroom when she or it rather now was yanked back by the arm. Gazing down DeathRaider noticed the yo-yo of the famous LadyBug who'd arrived to save the day.
"Sorry, can't let you harm our new addition to Paris, it'll look bad on us." LadyBug mocked, enraging the akumatized villain who yanked her forward with a pull of the arm.
LadyBug stumbled, falling from the windows ledge to the floor. Her yo-yo retracted as she dodged the quick movement of DeathRaider who had appeared in front of her, slamming a fist into the wooded floor.
"Give me your Miraculous and I'll let you live maybe." The villain hissed.
"Not a chance, give me your akuma so we can stop any mess you're about to create."
"Have it your way." DeathRaider whispered.
LadyBug watched as the left hand of DeathRaider balled into a fist a dark mist manifested around it. The mist acted like the rings on Saturn, swirling around like an orbit. With a thrust of the hand, DeathRaider sent a blast aimed for LadyBug who dodged just in time, her eyes following the blast which struck a nearby wall. The wall's support began to crumble and groan as it turned from a nice shade of brown to a deathly gray that cracked and split.
"Well, this will be interesting." LadyBug commented.
She had to find where the object containing the Akuma was fast before this villain hurt anyone or killed her. She vaulted on her feet, jumping across tables and bouncing off walls, using several platforms to boost herself when she landed her hits.
Her last attempt failed horribly and she found her wrist grabbed by DeathRaider who flung her across the room.
LadyBug crashes through the wall into the next room, groaning in agony as the pain spiked through her body. DeathRaider was looming over her in no time.
"This is our hero of the city? Ridiculous." DeathRaider spoke. Lifting a hollow boot up several inches from the ground before slamming it firmly onto LadyBug's stomach, causing the heroine to cry out.
DeathRaider pushed down onto LadyBug's stomach, laughing maniacally at the agony that coated her face and escaped with her cries.
"It's over little bug." DeathRaider boomed with glee, lifting up a boot towards LadyBug's head, one good thrust would end it all.
But the strike never came.
Instead, DeathRaider was sent flying. LadyBug could see another figure looming over her, one she knew well once her eyes adjusted.
"Chat?" She muttered.
"Sorry, M'lady. I was helping with the student evacuation." ChatNoir offered his hand to her to take, pulling her to her feet with ease
"I had it under control." She said jokingly.
"I'm sure you did." Chat replied, turning his gaze towards the Akuma that had gotten back onto its feet. "How about a little luck?" He asked.
LadyBug nodded. "Lucky Charm!" She cried out throwing her yo-yo up. From the magical power manifested a small hammer which fell into her hands.
"Well, I'm not sure what you're supposed to do with that besides fix the wall after we are done here." Chat commented, ignoring her eye roll.
"Can you keep our friend distracted while I think of something?"
"Anything for you!" Chat said with a bow before charging towards DeathRaider. "Hey dome head, great fashion statement, where'd ya get it?"
"You won't be making jokes when I take your Miraculous." DeathRaider hissed, chasing the feline hero with a blast of its power.
LadyBug scanned the room but the only thing that lit up was ChatNoir and the dome of the Akuma. "Shit." She whispered. She didn't even know where the object containing the Akuma was.
She turned towards the fighting and found that ChatNoir was losing ground, DeathRaider had grabbed him by the throat. He struggled as his body was lifted up off the ground before being hurled towards LadyBug, followed by a blast of dark matter that was aimed for the wall behind them. It crumbled upon them, trapping them. They could hear the Akuma promising to return for their Miraculous after they paid a visit to someone.
"Cataclysm!" ChatNoir shouted, touching the rubble that covered himself and LadyBug.
"Well that was eventful." He said dusting himself off.
"DeathRaider is going after a girl named Elise, Chat you have great feline senses, anyway you could locate her before DeathRaider does?" LadyBug asked.
"Of course." Chat said lifting his nose in the air to take in the smells of the world around him. "She has a funny smell but I think I have her located."
"Let's go then."
…
ChatNoir and LadyBug vaulted over the rooftops, passing by several streets. There was no sign of DeathRaider but they did come across Elise who'd been busy observing a library that had books outside.
ChatNoir was the first to land behind the girl, startling her. She quickly turned on her heels, heaving one of the hardcover copies of Steven King towards him. Chat managed to stop the assault. "Easy now, I'm not going to hurt you." He told her gently.
"Oh you are-"
"ChatNoir! At your service." He winked before bowing.
"And you must be, LadyBug?" Elise asked, eyeing the spotted heroine behind him.
"Yes and we are here because you are in danger." LadyBug's voice dripped with concern.
"Oh?" Elise tilted her head.
Before anyone could reply to the sound of thunder or what sounded like thunder boomed, the ground rumbled and shook, making them lose balance. DeathRaider had found her target.
"Elise! Time for your punishment. You'll regret embarrassing me." DeathRaider boomed with glee, pointing a gloved hand at the girl before shooting a beam of blackness in her direction. LadyBug and ChatNoir raced to save Elise but Chat was faster and managed to dodge the blast.
LadyBug barely missed.
"Thank you ChatNoir." Elise said, pulling herself from his grasp. "Tell DeathRaider that if she wants to throw hands to do it without the power up."
"Will do, for now you need to get out of here." Chat commented.
Elise nodded before sprinting off into the other direction.
Chat simply watched, he wasn't sure what it was about that girl..but her aroma was anything but normal.
His ring beeped.
LadyBug had kept DeathRaider busy, the rage of failing at her target had sent her into a frenzy of anguish. She had blown several buildings apart before being flung by the heroines yo-yo.
ChatNoir hadn't returned, she hoped he was recharging his Kwami.
"You should have stayed where I left you, Bug." The Akuma growled.
LadyBug dodged the throw of punches, the blast the kicks. Her eyes focused on the dome, the purple mist seemed to have faded enough for her to see if anything was inside.
And she found it.
The object.
"The sunglasses!" She was overjoyed. Now all she had to do was smash the glass dome and break the object but getting DeathRaider down was the challenge.
ChatNoir had returned.
"Got an idea of where the object is now?" He asked, eyeing DeathRaider.
"Yeah. It's in the dome, which is why my lucky charm gave me a hammer. Chat, see if you can get behind DeathRaider and catasym the ground.," If they could trap her, their victory was certain. Chat managed to do this while LadyBug kept the focus on her.
A quick burst of his power and it worked. DeathRaider fell and became trapped in the ground. LadyBug moved quickly, grabbing the hammer and smashing it on top of the dome. The mist had escaped, releasing a toxin that made her cough.
She reached for the sunglasses, grabbing them and smashing them.
The butterfly had flown from the broken object and attempted to escape but she captured it.
"Miraculous LadyBug!" She cried out, throwing the hammer up.
As the magical ladybugs worked their magic, she and ChatNoir shared a fist bump.
"What..happen?" Chloe asked, holding her head.
"You were akumatized." LadyBug told her, turning her gaze onto the blonde.
"I was?"
"Yes."
"Ugh. This villain HawkMoth sucks. Tell him the next time you fight him to keep his horrendous insects away from me."
The Miraculous beeped in usion.
"Well, time to get out of here." ChatNoir sighed. He wanted to tell his lady about the strange aroma of this girl they'd just saved but time had cut him short. Quickly he grasped LadyBug's hand, kissing it before leaping off.
The red heroine simply rolled her eyes and bolted off herself.
