Chapter 80: Home Sweet Home!

Alex stood beside Meredith, watching and waiting along with all of the other families. The children all with their parent, mostly moms waiting patiently as their spouses disembark the plane. There is another plane set to land in 5 minutes and most people weren't sure which plane. Meredith had been away from the squadron, but still had all of the connections as she did take the job with the Air Wing working as a civilian.

She wiped her eyes as she felt tears falling down her cheeks with her eyes glued to where the first two people, both higher ranking officers than Derek walked off.

"Derek." She mumbled the second he walked to the open hatch, the third man off of the plane.

He stopped suddenly to look around to see if he could find Meredith through the crowd, but couldn't see her through the huge crowd of people. He started his descent down the stairs while Meredith watched him the entire time. "I am going to move closer." She whispered.

"Okay." Alex walked behind her, making sure she didn't have any problems.

Derek looked up with two stairs left and saw Meredith fighting her way to the front of the crowd. His breath hitched in his throat at the sight of his beautiful and pregnant wife. He couldn't help it. They tell them not to run, but he couldn't help it when seeing Meredith.

Meredith couldn't believe he was finally here, she could see her husband, the love of her life. Through the long months of morning sickness and doctor's appointments, he was finally here. They had agreed not to find out the sex of the baby until he or she was born so it would be a surprise for both of them.

"Meredith!" Derek yelled.

The people immediately around Meredith looked over to her as it was clear who Derek was focused on. Meredith smiled through her tears and noticed a similar look on her husband's face.

Meredith moved forward as much as she could although she had her flight line clearance still being she had to be on the runway for work occasionally. Derek reached her before, passing up the two men in front of him as most of the people watched the reunion between Derek and Meredith.

"You are here. You are actually here." Meredith said, wrapping her arms around him, leaning up to kiss him.

"I am." He smiled, continuing to kiss her, and started laughing a few seconds into their passionate kiss.

She stopped and looked up at him, "What?"

"You have a roadblock you didn't have before." Derek said softly and moved his hands down to her stomach with tears instantly coming heavier and his heart seemed to have leapt out of his body.

"I know, I am huge and fat."

"Meredith, honey, you look more beautiful than I have ever seen you. You are carrying my child and damn you look amazing." He took a step back to soak her in through his tears. "I feel like I have missed so much."

"Just me growing large, very large as you can tell." Meredith shrugged her shoulders.

"Stop." Derek murmured, wrapping her up in his arms.

"What?"

"You, Mer, I have no words for how I am feeling right now. You sent me pictures throughout the pregnancy, but nothing… could prepare me for this moment. My baby… our baby is actually there. Can you feel it?" He asked mesmerized as he had pulled back to look at her again.

"Yeah, I think he, or she is sleeping right now. Stay up tonight, you will get to feel tons of movement." She said laughing.

"I don't think I will be able to sleep, I just want to be with you. Meredith, I love you so much. I have missed you more than ever." Derek kissed her again, not able to get enough.

"Well, Grey, pregnancy suits you well." They heard from the background.

"Welcome home Mark." Meredith giggled as Derek moved to stand beside Meredith with his arm tightly secured around her.

"It is good to be home." Mark said smiling.

"Where is Cristina?" Meredith asked curiously.

"Oh, we aren't fucking anymore. I have my eye on someone else; let's just say I hope it works out as well as your situation did." Mark said quietly and hesitantly.

Meredith raised her eyebrow, "You seem serious."

"I am." Mark said.

Derek leaned down to Meredith's ear, "I will fill you in later." Mark had come to Derek two months into deployment. Lexie had been put in his division when he made Chief and they had grown close, very close. Derek also learned that Cristina had found something more serious than what she and Mark had which wasn't really anything than some fun every now and then.

"I hope you mean way later because you have some making up for the last months. Do you understand about pregnancy hormones?" Meredith said provocatively.

"Ok. That was my cue to leave." Mark laughed and walked off.

Derek leaned down to Meredith's ear, "Do you understand what it is like to live without the pussy of Meredith Shepherd for 7 months?"

Meredith whipped her head around to look at Derek, "Seriously?" She swiped him on the arm.

"Hey? What is that for?" Derek said laughing.

"I have been through puking my guts up to so damn horny I didn't know what to do and you…" Meredith stopped when Derek continued to laugh even harder.

"What is so funny?" Meredith put her hand on her hip.

"Oh, I have missed you. I have missed seeing feisty Meredith and I have a feeling pregnancy has made that even more pronounced." Derek said smiling and laughing the entire time.

"You have yet to see anything. Do you want the spare bedroom tonight?" Meredith warned.

"You wouldn't. Once I start doing to you what I want to do with you, you will be begging." Derek said only loud enough for her to hear.

"You promise?" Meredith smirked back at him.

"I do." Derek kissed her again, this time making it a little more passionately than before. He was getting used to the bump that definitely was in the way but made his heart flutter when he felt it against him.

"The baby is moving." Meredith said excitedly suddenly. She took his hand and guided it to the area she could feel the baby kicking.

The tears that had momentarily stopped started flowing again, "Meredith. That is our baby."

"Yes." She also had tears free flowing now, watching her husband experience this for the first time.

"Wow." Derek moved his other hand to her stomach and felt it with both hands.

"Maybe we should head in the hanger and wait for the luggage." Meredith suggested after a minute. There were more and more people crowding around as more people were off the plane.

"Actually, I have been given clearance to take my pregnant wife home, making sure she isn't on her feet too much. Apparently, she hasn't told me the doctor has warned her of bed rest if the swelling doesn't go down." Derek looked at Meredith with concern.

"I just… I didn't want to worry you with it being just two days until you get home." Meredith explained.

"I know, but you have been on your feet long enough. I will even carry you to the car." Derek went to pick her up.

"NO, I am way too heavy, and it would be embarrassing." Meredith said emphatically.

"You would be embarrassed if I picked you up?" Derek clarified with an amusing look on his face.

"No, if you dropped me or couldn't pick me up. Plus, I am more than capable of walking out of here on my own." Meredith explained.

"Okay, the second part makes sense, but I am going to pick you up the second we get to the house and carry you in to prove to you I won't drop you and I am more than capable of carrying you." He cocked his head.

"Crazy man you are." Meredith laughed, taking his hand.

"Only for you, my love." Derek started walking.

"Let's go home." Meredith smiled, walking through the people who were still waiting for their loved ones.

"Home sweet home!"
