Hey…. so it has certainly been a while, hasn't it? Life certainly finds a way to interfere. Especially with everything happening in the last few years. I've recently gotten into MHA and have a couple ideas for a few stories regarding that anime/manga. The whole world has SO many options to go down in terms of potential quirks for Izuku, or even different avenues he could take other than being a hero. Anyway, here is my take on Izuku with a power from a different source material.

Izuku Midoriya: The Dragon Emperor Hero, Y Ddraig Goch
Quirks. The name given to the odd and amazing abilities, mutations, or transformations that people are born with. Doctors and scientists have been struggling to figure out how quirks came to be, how they evolve, mutate, combine, or even not appear at all. Not everything is known about quirks, but that is what excites the people in the research of genetics.
However, what is not known, because it has never been considered, is that some quirks might not be the result of a genetic lottery. Sometimes, a quirk can be passed on at random and does not take place inside a person's DNA. No, instead some quirks can be passed on through the soul.
This is the story of Izuku Midoriya, the Dragon Emperor Hero, and how he came to inherit and manifest the powers of The Red Dragon Emperor, Ddraig.

Today started as a normal day for Izuku. Wake up, perform his morning rituals, eat a breakfast prepared by his mother, and then head off to school. School itself had started as normal too, dealing with the looks of superiority given to him by students and revulsion by the teachers. All due to him not having a quirk of his own. The only thing that had changed from a normal day was the issue with the villain at the train station that had been defeated by Mount Lady, even though Kamui Woods was the one who was fighting the villain and was about to perform one of his ultimate moves to defeat the petty thief turned villain, along with the issue of Kacchan finding out Izuku had applied to U.A. Highschool, causing Izuku to be accosted by the explosive blonde and even told that he should end his life by jumping from the school roof.
The events after that were even more norm shattering. Getting attacked by a villain with a quirk made of sludge, being saved by All Might, learning of said hero's injury, being told that he couldn't be a hero by Small Might, and now seeing Kacchan in the clutches of the sludge villain that had escaped from All Might due to Izuku latching on to the hero's leg when he leapt away.
The green haired teen watched as the heroes Back Draft, Death Arms, Kamui Woods, and Mount Lady just stood around and watched as the blonde was being suffocated, his hands setting off his explosions against his will by the sludge villain. He overheard the heroes talk as they complained about not having the right quirk to deal with the villain and the hostages explosions, something that baffled the greenette. "Surely they have more creativity than that, right? There's no way that the hero courses didn't teach them how to use their quirks in different ways than the obvious, and to think about how to combine quirks in the field to help save people! There's just no way!"
However, that did seem to be what had happened. Feeling his determination build, along with feeling a warmth build from his chest and out to his limbs, mostly his left arm, his body moves on its own, pushing him past other civilians and the police as his arm glows green, armor slowly starting to build up but forming faster each half second.
Within his soul, a being of unbelievable strength awoke to the feeling of his power being used. "Hmm, it seems my new partner has finally awakened the Boosted Gear. What's this? My word, this lad's determination is stronger than any one of my previous hosts. Why, I think he's even going to just jump past the first stage of the gauntlet. HAHAHAHAHA! Alright then, Izuku Midoriya, use my power and let's see what kind of person you become with this new strength!"
Out in the physical world, Izuku had just thrown his backpack at the face of the sludge villain, his pencil case opening and the contents hitting the villain in his eyes and rendering him temporarily blind. Izuku was so engrossed in saving his friend, that he never noticed the blood red gauntlet forming on his left arm, a green jewel in the back of the gauntlet, his fingers covered in armor that end in talons, with multiple red spikes going up the sides of it before ending in golden spikes with scale like plates making up the main body of the gauntlet. A loud voice, unheard by Izuku but heard by the heroes, police, and civilians shouted out a single word multiple times, that word being "BOOST!"
Grabbing the blonde and pulling him out of the sludge with surprising strength, Izuku jumped back with Katsuki and turned him around to face the villain and help him raise his arm, not noticing the jewel in his gauntlet glowing brightly. With a snarl on his face that was uncharacteristic to the youth, Izuku roared out as Katsuki gathered his breath. "NOW KACCHAN, BLOW THIS BASTARD TO HELL!"
"TRANSFER!"
Katsuki felt himself feel even more powerful than before, feeling like he could outpace his largest explosion by an insane margin. With a feral grin on his face, Katsuki roared out alongside Izuku. "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO, YA DAMN NERD! TAKE THIS YOU SLUDGE BASTARD! NOVA BLAST!"
An explosion more powerful than even Katsuki thought it would erupt from his palm, launching the two teens back towards the heroes as the sludge villain screamed, his body splattering across the walls of the buildings around him. Izuku watched as the smoke cleared, showing the defeated villain as darkness started to overcome his vision. The last thing he saw before darkness claimed him was Katsuki looking at him, his mouth moving but producing no sound that Izuku could hear. "Good, Kacchan is safe. At least I managed to save someone, even without a quirk. Take that, Kacchan, and you too, All Might."

The next thing the freckled teen knew, he was in a dark space, floating somehow. Looking around, he noticed that there was nothing that he could see. "Where am i? Is this the afterlife?"
Suddenly, flames erupted around him, bathing the area in light but oddly enough, no heat, even though he was in the middle of what seemed to be an inferno. Looking around in shock, his eyes came upon a hulking figure in front of him. The body was easily several kilometers long, with blood red scales covering it while lighter red scales covered the underbelly. Folded wings rested on the creature's back, the visible membrane of the wing matching the underside scales. Golden horns came out of the rear sides of the creature's head, along with smaller red spikes that made it seem as though it wore a crown. Green eyes, very much a similar shade of his own, looked down at him as a single word squeaked out of Izuku's mouth. "D…d..dr..dragon!"
The dragon in question watched the teen in front of him before nodding his head regally, and speaking much to the teen's surprise. "Hello, Izuku Midoriya. My name is Y Ddraig Goch, the spirit residing in the quirk known as the Boosted Gear, and now your new partner. I look forward to working with you, especially seeing as how you managed to unlock the second stage of the Boosted Gear immediately on its awakening. No one in my history has done that before."
Izuku looked on, his brain screeched to a halt as well as being derailed, seeming catatonic and just muttering the word "dragon" repeatedly.
Ddraig felt a sweat drop form on his face, watching as his appearance seemed to break the teen in front of him. "Well, I cannot say that this isn't something I'm used to. He has a while before he wakes up, so I guess I'll settle in until he comes out of it."
