The group found themselves walking through the desert again. However, this time it seemed like the air around was a little less tense. Sora and Matt could still fear some tense air around Melody and Tai, but it wasn't as bad...or they hoped so. The kids found something.
"what is it Izzy a power generator?" Tai asked
"Even better Etomon has hardwire the whole desert, with these cables. My guess this is one of his access terminal."Izzy said
"Why does he sound supper happy about finding this."Melody said to Renamon
Tk, who was beside her, stiffened a giggle.
"Great lets crash it!"Tai said
"It could be a booby trap."Sora said
"If it is Etomon's I say we switch the wires up and mess it up good."Matt said
Izzy unplugged a wire from the terminal and then plugged it into his laptop.
"Whatcha doing?"Tentomon asked
"If I do this then I could probably hack into Etomon's system."Izzy said
Izzy started his work and Tk walked up to him. TK reached out and grabbed Melody's hand brining her to stand by him.
"Hey you got mail."Tk said
"Wow that was quick does he know I've logged onto his system?"Izzy asked
"Oh great its Etomon."Joe said
"Open it it's probably spam."Tai said
"Right."Izzy said
Izzy opened the message and the group was shocked.
"HELP ME SOS! MAYDAY! I'M BEING HELD PRISINOR! HELP ME ESCAPE AND I'LL GUIDE YOU TO THE CREST YOU SEEK!"a voice said
"Wow!"everyone said
"Do you think he's for real?"Sora asked "I mean who could it be?"
The group started back walking through the desert.
"This is a bad idea."Joe said
"Don't have a brain cramp Joe!"Mimi said "Your turning green around the edges."
"Yeah someone asked for our help we at least got to check it out right?"Tai asked
Izzy walked beside Melody as he held his laptop leading the group to the captive person.
"According to my laptop, we should be getting close."Izzy said
Sora and Tk had their tags in their hands hoping for some kind of reaction while Melody could actually care less. About that time TK's tag started to glow.
"HEY! look!"TK cried
"It's glowing!"Matt replied
Tokomon used this time to look around, it was then he noticed something. Tokomon made a noise and everyone looked at him. With everyone's eyes on him Tokomon took off.
"TOKOMON WAIT!"TK cried
TK ran off as everyone followed after him. It was then they caught up to Tokomon. He was standing in front of a wall with a weird shape on it. Soon the wall started to glow and it became a crest. The crest slowly floated down and slid itself into TK's tag.
"Wow, Awesome my own crest!"TK said
"Congratulations."Tokomon said
"Now TK don't think this means you get to stay up any later."Matt said
"So Melody's and Sora's crests are the only two left to find."Izzy said making everyone look at him. "Maybe if we rescue this guy he could lead us to them."
"Well what are we waiting for to the rescue."Tai shouted
Melody sighed, he was charging in again.
"Oh what's that?"Mimi asked
Everyone turned to see a cave with markings. The kids walked in, Izzy ran ahead amazed by what he saw.
"See these hyrogrics? Don't they look familiar?"Izzy asked as he typed on his computer "this is defiantly the same writing we came across before."
Melody wondered if that was some type of sign, or if the digimon could read this 'mysterious' language as Izzy put it.
"Wait a second this is a new one."Izzy said
He walked up to the wall and whipped off the strange letter/word. It was like a light switch was flicked on and the cave became lit up with light.
"Prodigious this is amazing!"Izzy said "Do you know what I'm thinking?"
"I have a feeling you're going to tell us."Mimi replied
"well you see there might be a possibility that these forms of hyrogrics are not a form of writing at all. But, rather code, computer code. So if we change a piece of the code then you change the program. "Izzy said
Everyone gasped as a screen came up in front of them.
"Like that for example."Izzy said
"Wait back up are you telling us this whole giant place is like one huge computer game and that none of it is really real?"Joe asked
"Oh it's real alright."Izzy replied
Melody thought back to her ankle, yeah that pain was defiantly real.
"You know I think everything we meet, everything we see, and everything we touch is data, however it is given physical form."Izzy said
"Now wait a second."Matt said walking up by Melody " if your right and this whole thing is one big computer than how did we get here? Did we squeeze in here through the floppy drive?"
"No," Izzy replied with a laugh " we are just kilobytes of data to. I mean the versions of us that are in here."
"If I'm just data why do I still feel like i'm flesh and blood?"Tai asked
"And I still have to go to the little girls room."Mimi said
"You don't really you just think you have to."Izzy replied
"Oh I hope your right-"Mimi started
" Where is the real us?"Matt asked "Are flesh and blood bodies?"
"I don't know."Izzy replied "I suppose we are back at the camp ground still."
Melody looked at Izzy.
"Izzy for some reason or another I just can't agree with that theory of yours."Melody said
Everyone turned and looked at the girl.
"What do you mean?"Izzy replied
"Renamon is real and so am I. I don't just think I have to do something like you told Mimi, I know I do. We aren't just particles of data in the digital world...were alive just like the digital world is just like the digimon are...can't you guys see that from what all we've been through?"Melody asked
Matt looked at the blond headed girl.
'She's right, I got a cold and if what Izzy said was true then I could have made the cold vanish...but it stayed and the Gabumon caught it...'Matt thought
Izzy started back working on his laptop.
"Oh no, he's in planet geek world."Mimi said "This could take a while."
About that time the screen turned into a globe.
"As you can see I called upon a map of the digital world. It is a lot similar to planet Earth."Izzy said
"That's great Izzy great time for a geography lesson."Matt said
"Pay attention and you might learn something."Izzy replied
"Yeah?"Matt asked
Izzy went back to typing on his computer.
"If I enter the e-mail adress of the person who contacted us, I can find his location in the DigiWorld...here, that email adress is from a web domain in our world, I have logged onto it a thousand times."Izzy replied
"Is there a point to it somewhere?"Tai asked
"Is the person that sent the message in our world or the DigiWorld?"Sora asked
"That's just the thing he's in both."Izzy replied
About that time another globe appeared.
"Look the DigiWorld is on the left the world we know is on the right, and if I overlay them like so."Izzy said as the two globes became one.
"The white lines match up perfectly. What does it mean?"Sora asked
"Those white lines are the worlds digital network. Through those lines every computer is connected to every other computer. The digital world is the physical body of the data passing through them. Guys we are seeing something that nobody else has seen, that nobody even knows about. A digital shadow world that exist alongside our own."Izzy said "And they're not just parallel they are physically linked. So anything we do here will have effects on the other."
"For real?"Matt asked
"Intense."Joe replied
"And her is the best part where ever this person is in the digital world I can take us to where ever he is in the digital world. All I gotta do is type in his email adress and click on it. It will be just like accessing a webpage."Izzy replied
"Hey all this techno talk is making my head spinny!"TK said
"Computer guys can never just do anything that would be too easy. "Matt replied to TK "They gotta spend all day telling you how they would do it."
"This is depressing, "Joe said squatting on the ground "Even when I'm just data I have allergies."
"look on the bright side Joe if you would have never came here then we would have never had met."Gomamon said
Joe shot Gomamon a look.
Biyomon walked over to Sora.
"Sora does this mean we don't exist and were not really friends?"Biyomon asked
"Oh course not this might be a make believe world, but that doesn't mean our friendship isn't."Sora replied "Truthfully I don't get it but it sounds right."
Melody froze and looked at the two.
"Renamon isn't that contradicting itself?"Melody asked
"I think so...but Melody do you really thing what Izzy said is the truth?"Renamon asked
"Of course not! I mean, I can't help but feel like everything he said is a lie."Melody replied
"Well whatever we are were here so let's figure out what we are going to do next."Tai replied "Come on Braniac what are you waiting for."
Melody walked over to Tai and punched him in the head.
"Tai why don't you let your mouth motor down for a while."Melody said
Tai squatted down and held his head.
"Thank you Melody, but all I have to do is click on the guy's email adress and then bingo."Izzy said
"I hate bingo it's so confusing."Mimi replied "Especially with all theses different letters and numbers. Hey look a door."
Everyone looked shocked they couldn't believe that they had not realized it before.
"Alright last ones through a rotten egg."Tai replied
"Our electronic pen pal is right out there."Izzy said
"Or it could be a trap."Sora replied
"No way were just bits of data..so I updated us some file drides-"Izzy started
"Okay I believe you."Sora said quickly
Everyone looked outside shocked to see they were up in the air. Melody look to her right and saw an upside pyramid.
"Hey you guys look over there."Melody said pointing
Everyone looked over to were melody was pointing and saw a familiar trailer. Tai took out his mini telescope and looked out.
"Heads up Etomon at nine oclk."Tai said
Everyone felt nervous and confused, why was Etomon where there.
Later that night Tai and Agumon were sitting outside of the cave with a campfire. Tai and Agumon were watching out for anything that might hurt them or the seven kids in the cave. About that time Melody and Renamon walked out.
"Okay Tai your relived."Melody said
Tai turned around and saw the two girls. Him and Agumon smiled and started to walk into the cave.
"It's our turn to stand watch."Renamon said
"Finally it's not much fun watching a bunch of rocks."Agumon replied
Agumon started to yawn.
"Ah goodnight."Agumon said
"Man I thought being in a cartoon adventure would be more fun than this."Tai said
"About tomorrow!"Melody said quickly
Renamon looked at her partner worriedly.
"What?"Tai asked
"I'm worried...That Etomon is bad news! Is it really worth it just to find mine and Sora's crests?"Melody asked
"Sure don't worry Melody! Piece of cake!"Tai replied "I'm looking forward to spinning that ugly monkey around on his tail."
Melody still didn't look bought. She couldn't help but feel as if something bad was going to happen.
"Hey common snap out of it."Tai said
"HU?"Melody asked looking up at the boy
"Look if it was my crest or TK's we were going after you wouldn't hesitate for a second!"Tai said
Melody looked shocked then replied:
"Maybe your right...it's just after what Izzy said..."
"What you mean all that stuff about us just being little kilobytes in the great big computer program of life?"
"It just makes us seem all so small and insignificant like nothing we do really matters."
"Of course it matters we can't take the chance that it doesn't."
"I just fell like nothing is going to get easier and I have a feeling that were going to be tested more and more..."
Tai walked over and smiled at Melody.
"Hey don't worry whatever happens were going to take it on together. Just remember what we learned fighting Devimon, were strong together."Tai said
The next morning the Sora, melody, and Izzy were up bright and early. The three digidestin stood outside the cave trying to make head and tails of what was happening.
"Okay remember this is important to keep in mind this is more than a parallel universe. It's a shadow world linked to our own and anything that happens in our world is physically linked to the other. "Izzy said
"So the same thing goes for us right? Where shadow version of our other selves!"Sora cried
"Right exact computer copies."Izzy replied
Melody looked at Sora.
"So whatever happens we have to be extra careful just like we would if it was our real selves." Sora replied
"Why don't we be honest here...we're going to have to make sure Tai is being more careful like it was his real self."Melody replied
"Hey sometime this year..."Tai shouted "Man you guys talk more than my mom's book club."
"That's saying much since your mom serves her tofu cookies at it!"Melody shouted back
"OH HUSH!"Tai shouted "CAN WE GO!?
"Alright."Melody replied
Melody, Sora, and Izzy ran over to Tai. The wall vanished and the group got ready for their mission.
"I got in the system and found a direct route into the pyramid. "Izzy said
"Okay let's get this straight were only going in this place to find this guy and get Sora and or Melody her crest!"Joe said
"Right right."Tai replied
"That means no fights, no adventures, or no dangerous stuff."Joe replied
"You remind me of my puppy."Tai said
"Matt, Mimi, TK and Joe you guys stay here and stay guard." Tai said "We're going in."
"If you really don't think you need me."Mimi said
"I miss you guys already."Palmon said
"We will be back in time to eat."Agumon said
"or get eaten."Tai replied
Tai jumped out of the cave followed by Agumon. Melody and Renamon followed, Sora, Izzy, Tentomon, and Biyomon were right behind them.
"See you guys come back as soon as you can."Tokomon and TK said together
The digidestin ran to the other side of the sphinx then Tai said:
"Alright everyone stick together."
The group then snuck to a huge pile of sand in front of a pyramid.
"There's a back door to the program we can use to get in."Izzy said "It should be somewhere right up ahead."
The group ran up to the pyramid.
"That's funny it should be right here."Izzy replied
"Where is my banana sandwich you know I like to eat after my nap."Etomon said
Tai looked over the side of the pyramid to see Etomon. Tai gasped and jumped back to be back to back with the pyramid.
"Tai what is it?"Melody asked
"It's Etomon!"Tai cried
Sora gasped which alerted Etomon.
"What do we have here?"Etomon asked walking towards the kids.
"What do we do now?"Agumon asked
"Quite Agumon."Tai replied
Before Etomon could make it to the kids Melody leaned against the Pyramid where she stood. However instead of leaning against the wall she fell in the pyramid.
"Mel!"Everyone cried quietly.
The other kids followed her in.
"Are you okay?"Renamon asked
Melody nodded and stood up. Tai then watched as Etomon walked up.
"Now I think I'm hearing things."Etomon said as he starts to walk off.
Tai stuck his arm out and yelled at Etomon. Before Etomon turned around he quickly pulled his arm back in.
Etomon walked off mumbling something about an exterminator. Tai walked back to the others.
"Now we have him talking to himself."Tai said
Melody angrily turned to Tai.
"Great going Tai! What if you have got us caught!"Melody shouted
"But we weren't were we."Tai said smugly "What's next?"
"I guess next we try to find a trick through the walls. The trick is finding the week points."Izzy said
"Hey you guys I found one."Agumon shouted
Agumon slapped a wall and in the meantime hurt his hand.
"As I could say Agumon the trick is finding a weak point. "Izzy replied
"And lets use heads instead of hands."Melody replied
The group started looking for weak points. The found themselves walking down a set of stairs. Tai and Agumon in the front, Melody and Renamon were behind them, Sora and Biyomon were bringing up the rear followed by Tentomon and Izzy.
"Hey look there's a weak point right here."Tai said
"According to my laptop that is a weak point in the systems security system."Izzy said
"HEY LOOK GAZIMON!"Agumon shouted
Everyone looked to see a couple of Gazimon walking down the hall way. Melody looked over at Tai and noticed the look in his eye.
'Oh no, Tai please don't!'Melody thought
"Be Still."Sora said from her spot by melody
Tai walked up to the wall and watched as the Gazimon passed.
'Oh lord please hear me and stop Tai from doing his stupid act. 'Melody thought
After the Gazimon passed Tai ran through the wall and kicked one of the Gazimon in the back. Sora and Izzy gasped why Melody sighed.
'Oh come on, did I use up all my good deeds already?'Melody thought
The digidestin in hiding soon heard the two Gazimon start to fight. Tai was doing all he could to hold his laughter in. Melody was beyond angry and Sora was starting to have a chills going down her spine from her blond headed friend.
"YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN US ALL CAPTURE BACK THERE TAI!"Melody scolded "SO IMMATURE!"
"Melody calm down, right now isn't the time to be fighting."Sora said
"Gez Mel relax get a grip. Who elected you the leader of the fun police?"Tai asked
"Oh yeah and who elected you leader of the jerks of society!"Melody replied
Sora and Izzy moved to the back of the group.
"Are they always like this?"Izzy asked
"No, I've never seen Tai and Melody fight before...There normally so in tune with each other."Sora replied
"That's weird."Izzy replied
"Yeah, epically since they've been friends since they were five."Sora replied
"What, and they have never fought? That's unheard of!"Tentomon replied
"They just really balance each other out. Tai is head strong and always runs in first while Melody is calculated and practical. Tai wont, or normally wouldn't. charge in until Melody was beside him."Sora replied
The group of digidestin kept walking till they reached a wall, with Izzy's laptop they were able to get through. When they all passed through the wall they saw in front of them was an electric fence. Tentomon flew up to it first.
"This looks nasty!"he said "We don't have to go though here do we?"
Sora, Melody, Renamon, and Biyomon all looked at the wall nervously while Izzy looked at his computer.
"This fire wall is the systems last line of defense."Izzy said "There appears to be only one safe way through it."
"And let's say we pick the wrong way through it."Melody said
'Oh no,' Sora thought 'the fat is about to hit the fire big time'
"I think they might scoop us up with a spatula."Tentomon replied flying down to stand by Izzy.
"Relax it's not like we are human or anything."Tai said folding his arms behind his head. "Were bunches of kilobytes remember?"
Izzy walked in front of Tai and said:
"The weak point should be..."
After stepping a few more steps he finished:
"here."
"Cool!"Tai said walking through the wall
Izzy, Sora and the digimon gasped in shock. While Melody felt her heart clench. Tai stuck his head through and said:
"are y'all coming in or you just gonna stand there all day?"
Agumon was the first one in, followed by Izzy and Tentomon, Biyomon and Sora followed.
"It's our turn Melody."Renamon said
"My feet won't move...they're scared..."Melody replied
Tai stuck his head back out and said:
"Come on Winnie. let's move! After all you've been on my case all day!"
Melody felt pure anger come over her.
"WELL EXCUSE ME FOR CARING ABOUT YOU!"Melody shouted as she pushed Tai into the barrier.
Renamon sighed and followed. Even without her digimon senses she could tell this would be bad for the two. The group walked through the wall to find themselves in some type of metallic room.
"This must be the host computer."Izzy said
Tai muttered something about a cd room port. But Melody's eyes were focused on the upside down pyramid.
"Hey Renamon who's in that pyramid?"Melody asked
"his name is Datamon. He's a super computer type digimon."Renamon replied
"Maybe that was the thing that sent us the email he seems like a prisoner."Sora said
About that time a mini Datamon showed up on Izzy's computer.
"Of course it was who else?!"The mini Datamon said
Everyone looked at the computer.
'Man he's as grumpy as my dad when he gets up early 'melody thought
"Today is your lucky day and mine."Datamon said
"I get it!"Izzy said suddenly "He's communicating with us through the infa red port on my laptop!"
"Oh a hard ware fan! Listen, we haven't got much time! Long long ago, I fought Etomon and lost. Not one of my best calculations. I was severely damaged and he forced me her to act as his webmaster monitoring his network. Without Etomon knowing; however, I was able to repair myself resorting my capabilities bit by bit. Eventually I gained control over Etomon's network, not total control, but just enough to bring some misery to that blubbering baboon. At last i'm ready to free myself but I need your help to break the cyber lock."Datamon said
"What about Sora's crest? You said in your message you could lead us to it?"Melody asked
"Um...YES! Whatever you want! PLEASE! Help me out of here!"Datamon said
"Guys I don't mean to sound like Joe, but I don't think this is a good idea."Melody said
"Etomon is your enemy as well as mine! That makes us Allies." Datamon said "Please your my only hope."
"Okay your on what do you need from us?"Tai replied
"I am transmitting you instructions for disengaging the cyber lock."Datamon said
Izzy ran over to a terminal and started to work. He then pointed to a lever and said:
"Hey push that lever for me will you Tai?"
"Got it!"Tai said running over to push it.
Izzy started to work once he was finish he turned to Tai.
"Now Tai put the lever back in the original position, that should be the last step in the process."Izzy said
Before he could do it however he heard,
"HOLD IT."
Everyone looked to see Etomon at the door.
"AH Etomon!"Tai shouted
"I've been watching you on security cameras and you know you're a pretty bratty kid you know that?"Etomon asked
The two Gazimon Tai made fight each other jumped in the room also. Etomon charged for the kids.
"DIGIMON HELP OUT!"Agumon shouted
With Agumon's command the digimon started to digivole.
"AGUMON Digivole TO...GREYMON!"
"TENTOMON DIGIVOLE TO...KABUTERIMON."
"BIYOMON DIDIGVOLE TO...BIRDRAMON!"
"RENAMON DIGIVOLE TO...KIYUBIMON!"
While Etomon was fighting with the digimon Tai was able to pull the lever back to its original form. Datamon shouted he was free and turned the glass of his cage against the others. A piece was coming for Birdramon and Melody noticed.
"KIYUBIMON PROTECT BIRDRAMON!"Melody shouted
Sora shot a look at Melody not noticing what she had.
"What?!"Sora asked
About that time, the glass slammed Kiyubimon into the wall.
"KIYUBIMON!"Sora and Melody shouted
Being pressed up against the wall roughly made Kiyubimon dedigivoled back to Renamon.
"HEY WE SAT YOU FREE!"Tai shouted
"And I do appreciate that you chumps."Datamon said
"Dumb kids you think by now they would have learned to trust no one."Etomon said
"He's right...everyone we have trusted has betrayed us..."Melody said
Sora was now worried. Etomon and Datamon started to fight while Melody and Sora ran to Renamon.
"Renamon are you okay?"Melody asked
"We have to get her out of here."Sora replied
Datamon was thrown and he hit the wall above Sora and Melody's head. Etomon walks over.
"tough luck looks like I won again."Etomon said
Melody had a bad feeling and pushed Sora into Biyomon that was running over.
"You haven't won yet monkey breath."Datamon said
Datamon jumped over Melody and Renamon and grabbed them. One of his arms went around Melody's mouth while the other around Renamon.
"Just you wait with their powers combined with my own I will be more than a match for you."Datamon said as he took off with Melody and Renamon
Right as Etomon was going to follow Kabuterimon, Greymon, and Birdramon stood in his way. Tai, Izzy, and Sora ran out
"MELODY!"Tai cried out as they ran after Datamon
"TAI!"Melody cried
The group froze when they stopped in front of an Electric fence much like the one before.
"They've gone back out through the fire wall."Izzy said
"Okay...The weak point was here right?"Tai asked walking to the gate
"WAIT LET ME GET BACK ON LINE SO I CAN MAKE SURE."Izzy said
"We don't have time for that Izzy."Tai replied "What can happen this isn't the real me right?"
"DON'T TEST THEORIES NOW!"Izzy cried
"Pain still hurts Tai!"Sora cried as she ran to stop Tai from trying to follow Datamon
"What are you thinking Tai, were in a video game and that nothing can happen because we're not in our actual bodies?"Izzy asked
"Yeah something like that."Tai said as he stopped struggling from Sora's hold
"WELL THINK AGAIN OUR DIGITAL SELFS OUR DIRECTLY LIKNED WITH OUR ORGINAL SELVES BACK HOME! SO ANYTHING YOU DO HERE IN THE DIGITAL WORLD WILL BE DIRECTLY EFFECTED TO YOUR BODY BACK IN THE REAL WORLD!"Izzy scolded" YOU NEED TO BE ALOT MORE CAREFUL! No telling what may happen."
Tai now understood Melody's worry. He now understood her scolding him so much lately.
"You mean if I..."Tai started
"If something happens here..."Izzy started
"It happens there?"Tai finished
Sora and Tai stood there for a second.
"I can't move."Tai replied
"The weak point is one meter to your right."Izzy said
"No way just one false move and it's over."Tai said
Sora was now even more worried.
"Hey Tai."Sora started
"It's safe Tai, we came through it alright on the way in."Izzy said
"Yeah but then I didn't know that."Tai replied
"Go on."Izzy said
With shaky legs Tai walked up to the fence. He could hear Sora and Izzy telling him it was okay and that Melody needed them, but he couldn't move. His head and heart was telling him to go, but his feet felt like lead.
'Mel I can't do this! I can't save you...I'm scared..'Tai thought
About that wall behind them busted and Agumon, Tentomon, and Biyomon were lying on the ground.
"sorry we held him for as long as we could."Agumon said
"Now to handle you rotten kids once and for all."Etomon said walking towards the kids.
About that time the ceiling started to cave in.
"WHAT?!"Etomon asked
Togemon, Garurumon, and Matt busted through the ceiling. Togemon and Garurumon started their attacks, while Matt rounded up the others.
"COME ON LETS MOVE!"Matt shouted
Sora and Izzy grabbed their partners and got on Togemon while Tai stood there still frozen. Matt was confused but ran over to Tai.
"TAI WAHT'S WRONG WITH YOU LETS GO!"Matt shouted
He pulled Tai in a head lock out of the Pyramid. Once safely out the digidestin let out a sigh of relief. IT was then TK noticed something.
"Where did Melody go?"he asked
It was at that moment that Tai fell into the sand on his butt. After explaining what had happened Matt was angry.
"I don't get it, once the creep grabbed Melody and Renamon why didn't you go through the fire wall after them?"Matt asked
"I couldn't I couldn't Move."Tai said shaking.
Everyone noticed tears hitting the sand. Matt's anger vanished and everyone's eyes softened.
'Oh Tai.' Everyone thought
"It's not your fault."Joe said assuring. "We're all in this together Tai. We'll find a way to get them back."
Everyone closed their eyes and tried to not look at their leader in his moment of weakness.
