738: Sora's crest is here, but Melody's is a mystery with a climax :O
In the passageway inside the sphinx, Izzy sits typing at his computer while looking at the computer projections. Outside, Tai, Matt, Mimi and Joe sit around a campfire, talking. Tentomon provides a short memory-jogger:
"When Datamon was unable to get his revenge on Etomon, he kidnapped Melody and Renamon and took off."Tentomon said
"But we don't have a clue where to start looking for them. Besides, we could all end up dead - or worse!"Joe said
"What if Datamon does something to hurt Melody while we sit here on our butts?"
All of them are eating. Tai however, can't get his best friend out of his mind...he missed her presence beside him.
"Look Tai, he's already beaten our brains out once. What makes you think he won't do it again? We need to come up with a plan before we go anywhere."Matt said
"This is more depressing than a soap opera..."Mimi said
A little way away, TK sits with the digimon, sans Renamon of course.
"We better get some sleep. I'll stay next to you guys just in case any of you get scared."Tk said
"Yeah!"Palmon replied
"Sure."Agumon said
"Well, thanks!"Gabumon replied
"Goodnight guys..."TK replied
Later on, after TK and the digimon have gone to sleep, the fire dies down. The kids keep discussing.
"It's tough not knowing what to do. "Matt replied
He himself was wondering how the blond headed girl was doing.
"The minute I saw what was happening, I should've gone after her..."Tai said
"It's no use blaming yourself, Tai. We're really all to blame."Sora said
"Yeah. And we're going to find a way to get her back."Matt said clenching his fists
The conversation died down until...Izzy came to the cave entrance.
"Hey! I've got it! I know where Melody is!"Izzy said suddenly
The others all rush into the sphinx, even TK and the digimon ,who have woken up, A projection shows the upside-down pyramid, with another right-side-up pyramid underneath it. A room is marked inside the other one.
"I think Datamon only pretended to take her away, when in reality they've been right here the whole time."Izzy said
"Are you telling me they're still here in the pyramid?"Tai asked
"Yes. I've discovered that way down below the pyramid, there's a secret room, and I just know that's where he's holding them. He's found the perfect hiding place right under Etemon's nose."Izzy replied
"Not a bad place, as long as he isn't sneezing."Joe replied trying to lighten the mood.
Tai walked up closer to the map.
"There's gotta be a way in. I don't care what I've gotta do, I'm going to find that room! And I'm going to bring Melody back! Guys, I'd totally understand if you'd rather wait here."Tai replied
"Enough with the guilt trip, I'm coming with you!"Matt said
"Remember the old saying, Tai - there's no I in team!"Mimi replied with a smile
"Can I come too if I'm brave?"TK asked tugging on Tai's shorts
"How about we all go?"Sora replied
"All right then. Now - let's go get Melody!"Tai shouted
Melody's eyes open. She stares up at a black ceiling.
"Have I been dreaming? This isn't my bedroom or Tai's, where am I?"
She turns her head and notices Renamon, shackled to the wall of the room.
"Renamon! It isn't a dream!"Melody cried
She looks around, and sees that she's shackled too - to a table.
"Ohh!"
"Don't be alarmed, my dear. She's simply exhausted from all the excitement. She'll be fine when I use her in my plan to destroy Etomon."Datamon said
"Renamon can't digivolve without me, and I'd rather be stuck in a sewer full of rats than help you!" Melody cried
"Good then, I'll remember you said that."Datamon said
He presses a few buttons on the console in front of him.
"What are you gonna do to me?"Melody asked
"Just remain calm."Datamon said
A scanner of some sort moves down the table.
"Ohh... Get me off this thing!"Melody cried
"We've just started."Datamon said
"Aah! Hey, what's happening over there?"Melody cried
On the other side of the room, an identical scanner moves up an identical, empty table. As the scanner moves, part of Melody is created on the empty table - starting with her feet.
"Relax, I'm just making a copy of you."Datamon said
"Wha...?"Melody asked
"You see, I believe Renamon's power has nothing to do with you, my dear, but rather whoever happens to be in possession of that fancy digivice you so proudly wear."
"You will never be able to command Renamon!"Melody cried
"Perhaps not. But we'll see if an exact replica of you can do it."
More of the copied Melody's legs are created.
"This just can't be happening!"Melody cried "TAI!"
A mechanical arm tries to place the crest inside melody's tag.
"I could be wrong!"Melody replied
"Why won't this thing fit?"Datamon asked
'Sora's crest! He didn't know whose crest it belong to!'Melody thought
"Why are you doing this?"melody asked
"When I fought the beast before, Etomon destroyed all of my memory circuits except for those of the fight."Datamon said " From that moment on, I vowed I'd have my revenge, and I will have it - with the help of your digi-partner. But enough of this small talk already, my dear. The moment of truth has arrived!"
Outside the pyramid, hordes of Monochromon and Tyrannomon patrol. Tentomon flies overhead. Inside the Sphinx, the group conduct a strategy meeting.
"Boy, with so many of the digimon surrounding the pyramid like this, there is just no way we can get in there without somebody seeing us."Izzy said
"Well that's exactly why we're going to be acting as decoys."Matt replied
"Right."Tentomon said
Joe indicates positions on the map.
"Now Tai, when the enemy starts chasing after us, you and Agumon have got to get inside the pyramid quickly, without being seen by anyone. Got it?"Joe replied
"Mmm-hmm."Tai replied to Joe then walked up to Izzy and placed a hand on his shoulder "You do have directions for me, don't you?"
"Yeah, just one more thing."Izzy replied
"How come I wanna throw up every time you say 'one more thing'?"Tai asked
"Ok now. To enter the secret room, you have to take a hidden passage. But, there's another electrified wall to get past, just like the room Datamon was in."Izzy replied
"Ahh..."Tai said
Tai thought back to what had happened last time him standing in front of the electric fence-wall - Sora held him back.
"I...can't move..."Tai said
"Do you think you can make it, Tai?"Agumon asked breaking Tai out of his thoughts
"I don't care what that wall is. I'm going through!"Tai said determined
The group move outside of the Sphinx, through its mouth.
"Now try not to do anything stupid, and stay out of unnecessary trouble, Tai. Remember, the important thing is saving Melody."Joe replied
"Right."Tai replied
"And you guys try not to do anything stupid either, Matt. If you run into Etomon, just turn around and run the other way."Izzy said
"You got that, TK?"Matt asked
"Yeah."TK replied
"Whoever doesn't come back alive is going to be in a lot of trouble! Got it?"Mimi replied
"If this plan works, everyone has to get their part exactly right."Tai replied
They climb down the Sphinx, and hide behind a sand dune.
"They're coming out of the pyramid!"Gomamon said
"Take cover, everyone! Battle positions!"Tai said
Mimi throws a blanket over them.
"Thanks, Mimi."Tai said
"You're welcome."Mimi said with a smile
"Get down!"Tai shouted
Mimi gets under the blanket too. A short while later the decoy digimon digivoled and started the first part of the plan.
"Harpoon Torpedo!"Ikkakumon shouted
The torpedo sails over the horizon and blasts the pyramid. This sends the Gazimon inside into a panic.
"Earthquake, get under the deck!"A Gazimon shouted
A view screen shows a bombardment of Harpoon Torpedoes.
"Oh no!"All the Gazimon shouted
Ikkakumon shoots one more. The pyramid is taking the full force of the attack. Inside, Etomon runs into the control center wearing a bathrobe, which he quickly discards.
"What's going on here?"Etomon said
"Ikkakumon is bombing us, sir!"Another Gazimon replied
"Well bomb him back!"Etomon replied
Two more Torpedoes impact against the pyramid. Some Gazimon run out.
"All right...be brave..."Joe said "We're doing this for Melody."
Tyrannomon and Monochromon stampede towards him. Ikkakumon bombs them, and they're left in the dust.
"Maybe tomorrow!"Joe cried
Behind the enemy hordes, Matt rides on Garurumon and Sora on Birdramon.
"Ok Garurumon, let's go!"Matt called
"Howling Blaster!"Garurumon shouted
This attack misses the Gazimon.
"Let's not let them have all the fun Birdramon."Sora said
"Meter Wing!"Birdramon shouted
"We must destroy them all!"A Gazimon shouted
"All right, all you clowns! Everyone, follow us!"Matt shouted
Stupidly, everyone follows them - leaving the pyramid more or less unprotected.
"Look boss, we did it! They're running away!"Gazimon said
"What? I don't get it, this is where they should be attacking with everything they got! I know they're up to something, I don't like the smell of this!"Etomon said
"It wasn't me, boss - but listen, Datamon did something to jam up the Network, and we can't find any evidence as to where the blaggard might be!"Gazimon replied
"I don't wanna see your face again till you find him, got it?"Etomon yelled
"But boss, wait!"Gazimon cried
"Now don't be buggin' me with the little details, just do it!"Etomon commanded
He runs outside and stands on his trailer as it moves off.
"I'm gonna be rid of all them troublemakers today!"Etomon cried
Near the pyramid, Izzy and Tai are ready to enter.
"I hope Joe, Sora, and Matt made it ok. Come on Izzy, let's move out!"Tai said
"Roger."Izzy replied
"He forgot his name!"Mimi cried
"We'll be back!"Tai replied
They run straight at the wall of the pyramid.
"When you get to the wall, just keep running!"Izzy instructed
"Gotcha!"Tai replied
They run through the pyramid wall and down the passageways.
"So far so good. This is the right way, I'm sure."Izzy replied
Fallen rocks block their progress through the pyramid.
"Oh!"Agumon cried
"The passage is blocked!"Tai said
"It's a dead end!"Agumon cried
"Not necessarily. Why don't we try that door over there?"Izzy replied
Tai looks around the corner of the door.
"It's clear - let's go."Tai replied
Unbeknownst to them, they are being watched by the Gazimon via hidden cameras. However, these particular Gazimon aren't as attentive as they should be. Number Two catches a glimpse of them, but...
"Hey, did you notice anything on the middle monitor?"The Gazimon asked
"Yeah - you're attracting flies again."The other Gazimon replied
"Huh."The Gazimon asked
He looks back at the screen - but the boys are gone.
Ikkakumon continues to bomb the oncoming hordes of Tyrannomon and Monochromon, as Etemon's trailer gets closer.
"Joe, Sora, and Matt need our help. Please, Palmon, you've got to digivolve right away!"Mimi cried
"Right."Palmon replied
One quick digivolve later, Togemon carries Mimi in her boxing-gloved hand.
"Now remember, TK, don't move!"Mimi replied
TK looks scared, but stays where he is.
"Summon the Dark Network."Etomon shouted
He throws a ball of green energy, bombing his own digimon and clearing a path for himself.
"It's time to go!"Joe said
"Ah, you're becoming a nuisance, son!"Etomon said
"Of course - it's because I'm a teenager!"Joe replied
"I have to admit it's been a lotta fun toyin' with ya, but playtime's over. It's the end of the line for you and your goat, baby!"Etomon replied
Inside the pyramid, Sora and Datamon can feel the explosions.
"Your friends are very perceptive, my dear. It seems they've already discovered that I'm holding you prisoner in this pyramid."
"What was that explosion?"Melody asked
"There's a ferocious battle raging outside, and several of your friends have even managed to enter the pyramid."Datamon replied
"My friends?"Melody asked
Gazimon Number Two rewinds the tape, so that Number One can see Izzy and Tai on his monitor.
"See, look! I caught them on tape! You said it was flies!"Gazimon number two said
"Fast-forward!"Gazimon number one cried
"I hate running away!"Ikkakumon replied
A Dark Network energy ball explodes ahead of them, halting their escape. Etomon runs up the sand dune, accompanied by a silly sound effect.
"Howling Blaster!"Garurumon said
Etomon leans to the side, dodging it.
"Meteor Wing!"Birdramon cried
Etomon Leans to the side, dogging the attack.
"Needle Spray!"Togemon replied
Reacting fast, Etomon catches all the needles and throws them at Ikkakumon feet.
"Is that the best you got? I've seen sharper needles in granny's knittin' bag!"Etomon replied
"I think we need a new plan..."Joe replied
"C'mon, little playmates - show me what you got!"Etomon taunted
Garurumon leaps at Etomon, but get punched back towards Matt.
"Garurumon!"Matt cried
Etomon punches Ikkakumon up and down, then throws him next to Garurumon. Ikkakumon charges next then starts throwing him up in the air like a pizza then threw him next to Garurumon.
"Needle Spray!"Togemon cried
Etomon catches them again, and throws them back. They stick into Togemon, knocking her down.
"Oh, Togemon!"Mimi cried
Birdramon flew over to attack Etomon, but he jumped up and kicked her down into the sand.
"Birdramon no!"Sora cried
"I'd like to close the show with a tune that's currently Number One in the charts, it goes something like this."Etomon said
He pulls out a microphone and starts singing.
"My little darling...yeah! You think you're swell You think you're..."Etomon sung
"I just can't stand it!"Ikkakumon said
Ikkakumon, Birdramon, Garurumon and Togemon all de-digivolve.
"...yeah!"Etomon finished
"Oh no!"Joe and Matt cried
"And don't forget to tip your waitress."Etomon cried
About that time a Gazimon got Etomon's attention.
"Etomon! I've discovered the whereabouts of the other children, sir - they're inside the pyramid!"The Gazimon said
"Why would they be in there? Unless Datamon's still inside the pyramid..."Etomon replied
He remembers back to when Datamon snatched Melody.
"Datamon's smarter than I thought! But not nearly as smart as me!"Etomon cried
He turns around - Mimi, Sora, Joe and Matt have all taken off with their digimon.
"Huh? Now where did all those others go? What's a legend gotta do to keep an audience around here, baby?! Well, it doesn't matter, I'll just destroy the ones in the pyramid first, and then I'll come back for the rest of them later! Uh huh huh!"Etomon said
He runs off, jumps on his trailer, and rides back to the pyramid.
"Yeah, c'mon, move, ya good-for-nothing slowpokes!"Etomon shouted
Matt, Sora, Joe and Mimi are back hiding under the blanket.
"He's got a lot of anger."Matt said
"And he sure gets mad easily!"TK said
Everyone laughs.
"At least we can still laugh about it."Joe said
"But what about Tai?"Matt asked
"Oh, that's right! Something tells me he's not laughing 'round about now!"Mimi replied
"Let's just pray for their safe return."Sora replied
The pyramid looks pretty beat up. Inside, numerous Gazimon rush about searching for Izzy and Tai.
"Looks like the Gazimon have figured out we're here!"Tai said
"And we're so close to the room. I think the main passage that leads to the private entrance to Etemon's lab is located at the bottom of this stairway."Izzy replied
"Let's move!"Tai suggested
Just as they start to move off, Etomon crashes through the ceiling above them. They run through an invisible wall, but Etomon just smashes his way through it.
"Now before I cancel you like a bad sitcom, direct me to Datamon!"Etomon commanded
"Go find Melody! Tentomon, digivolve!"Izzy commanded
"Tentomon, digivolve to... Kabuterimon!"
Tai and Agumon run off down the corridor, as Izzy and Kabuterimon stand their ground against Etomon.
" Hold him, Kabuterimon!"Tai shouted
"Oy!"Etomon shouted
Etomon tries to run after them, but ends up struggling against Kabuterimon horn, blocking his path. Tai runs through another wall, and comes to the other electrified fence-wall.
"Oh great."Tai said
"An electric wall. I can break through it, Tai."Agumon said
"Wait. I'll do it, Agumon."Tai said
"Are you sure?"Agumon asked
"Not exactly. But if I don't do it on my own, right here, right now, I may never be able to do it."Tai replied
"Huh?"Agumon asked
"A man must face himself before he can face his enemies. Or at least that's what Melody told me growing up."Tai replied
"I think I understand, Tai. Go for it!"Agumon replied
Tai moves his hand closer and closer to a spot in the fence.
"I know you can do it."Agumon cried
Tai's hand was nearing the fence when he had a flashback.
*Flashback*
Seven year old Tai had gotton stuck up in a big tree trying to get Hayden he ball back.
"Tai hang on Hayden went to go get Melody."Kari yelled
"I wish she would hurry."Tai cried
Melody and Hayden ran up.
"Taichi you're just stuck in a tree! I thought you were dying!"Melody yelled
"Thanks for your compassion Mel!"Tai shouted
"I care about you I do, but you need to realize a problem is only as big as you make it. Think of this tree as the size of an ant and let go. If the problem get's to big I'll always be there to help."Melody replied
"Me two!"Hayden replied
"And me!"Kari said
*End flashback*
'With just those words I had so much trust in her I just let go and fell out of the tree landing on my feet. Now I gotta have trust in myself.' Tai thought
Tai rams his hand straight through the fence...
" Yaaah!"Tai cried "It's a fake!"
"Yipee!"Agumon cheered
At that moment, Etomon rolls down the stairs, tangled up in Kabuterimon and pulling his arms into a very uncomfortable position.
"So, we meet again!"Etomon said
"Agumon!"Tai cried
Agumon, digivolve to...Greymon!"
"Tai, break through to Melody!"Greymon said
"Good luck, Greymon!"Tai replied
He runs through the fence and into the lab, where Datamon stands on his computer console. Melody is right next to him...or is she?
"Melody, are you all right? Melody, speak to me! Melody!"Tai shouted
"That's not Melody! That's just a copy!"Renamon shouted
"Here, Tai!"Melody shouted
Renamon's woken up, but she and Melody are still shackled to the wall and table.
"And now the copy is finished. I will give her the magic Crest, as soon as I get it to work, and she will become the new Melody and do whatever I require of her."
The mechanical hand holding the Crest, tag, and digivice moves towards the copy.
"That's what you think, you pile of junk!"Tai shouted
Tai leaps forward and grabs both Crest, tag, and digivice.
"No! What do you think you're doing? I cannot permit a mere boy to foil my plans for vengeance!"Datamon said
The table that Melody is tied to, and the area around it, become a huge black pit. Melody screams as she falls.
"I'm coming, Melody!"Tai shouted
"Renamon!"Tai cried
Tai grabs Melody's hand. Below them writes a black-and-purple mass of cables and assorted junk.
"That is the center of Etemon's dark power network. Anything sucked in there is lost to all eternity. And since I have to more use for the original, I'll simply get rid of it."Datamon said
He walks over and takes the arms of Tai and Sora, pulling them apart.
"Tai! The digivice."Renamon cried
"Yes, the Crest is a means by which you may save the maiden's life - if you give it to me immediately!"Datamon said
"Yeah? Why don't you tell Etomon your sad story, cos we're not interested!"Tai replied
He drops the digivice down towards Melody.
"Mel, catch!"Tai said
"No, wait!"Datamon cried
"Not scared, are you Datamon?"Tai replied
Melody catches them. Once the digivice was in the hands of Melody Renamon started to glow.
"Renamon!"Melody cried
"Renamon digivole to Kiyubimon."She shouted
Kiyubimon breaks the shackles that was holding her as Renamon easily.
"Stay back, you blasted dog! What do you think you're doing?"Datamon asked
She reaches down her tails and pulls Tai and Melody out of the pit.
"Those are mine!"Datamon said
Outside the room, Etomon prepares to scrap with Greymon and Kabuterimon...
" Don't you worry, kiddies, I'll play with ya!"Etomon said
Kiyubimon jumps through the electrified fence, crushing Etomon with its rubble. Etomon gets electrocuted. Tai, Izzy, Melody, Kabuterimon, Kiyubimon and Greymon head to the exit of the pyramid.
"We're out!"Greymon said
"We made it!"Izzy shouted
"I never thought I'd see you again!"Melody said
"Hey, here come the others!"Tai shouted
Running across the desert, visible through the invisible pyramid entrance, they shout...
"Yay!"
The digimon blast through the wall to meet them.
"We're over here!"Sora shouted to her three friends
"There they are!"TK replied
Everyone chatters excitedly as they run.
"We're coming, we're coming, we're coming, we're com-"Mimi shouted
The kids and digimon stand a safe distance from the pyramid.
"What happened back there?"Joe asked
"I suspect the computer blew!"Izzy replied
Melody reached into her pocket of her shorts and pulled out the red crest.
"Sora, I think this belongs to you."Melody said
Just as Melody said that the crest glew and flew into Sora's tag.
"Great now Sora has her crest all we have to do is find yours Melody."Matt said
"Look at the pyramid!"Sora cried
The pyramid exudes dark streams of energy as it crumbles into nothing.
"Disintegrating!"Tai replied
A huge ball of cables and junk - last seen in the black pit - rises out of the rubble, with Etomon seated at the top! Several cables are actually attached to him, and he looks more muscle. He laughs as he sees the kids.
"All right, lemme see a show of hands, how many actually missed me?"Etomon said
Everyone gasps.
"What's with this guy?"Tai asked
"I told you I'd come back to take my revenge on you - you didn't believe me, did you?"Etomon asked
"Fox Tail Inferno."Kiyubimon shouted
"Electro Shocker!"Kabuterimon shouted
Both attacks hit Etemon's Ball wires and are disintegrated. Sand is sucked into the still-growing vortex underneath him.
"Say, that was pretty good, I give it a nine-point-six! Now then, you ready for a fast ball?"Etomon asked
He throws his Dark Network attack. It brushes past Kiyubimon and Kabuterimon, and hits the mountains beyond. They 'melt' in a spiral.
"That one's headed right for the Sphinx!"Joe said
It melts.
"Ahh, the Sphinx melted!"Mimi said grabbing onto Melody
Tk quickly latched onto her leg.
"Melting doesn't even describe it!"Izzy replied
"We've tried everything! Nothing can stop him, I guess this is the end!"Melody said
"I was hoping to skip algebra class, but not like this!"Joe replied
"No! I'm not ready to surrender to Etomon just yet! Coming, Greymon?"Tai asked
"I'm right behind you!"Greymon replied
They run towards Etomon and his evil Ball of wires. Under his shirt, Tai's Crest glows bright orange.
"What do we got here, sports fans? A new batter steps into play!"Etomon taunted
"I'm not afraid of you, you big blowhard!"Tai shouted
As he runs, he holds his Crest up to the sky.
"Come down here and fight like a mon!"Tai shouted again
"Tai, what are you doing? You don't stand a chance!"Mimi replied
"For some reason I don't think your right Mimi."Melody replied
Everyone looked at the girl shocked.
"Hey, you are brave! I like that!"Etomon cried
He tosses another ball of power, and Greymon goes down.
"Don't worry, Greymon, I'm staying with you!"Tai said
Tai's Crest and his digivice are glowing orange.
"Tai, your courage is giving me even greater strength, I can digivolve!"Greymon said
"Greymon, digivolve too..."
, Greymon gains a cyber-arm, a metal faceplate, two insectoid wings and a chest plate. He's digivolved to...
"MetalGreymon!"
Etomon looks at him and laughs.
"Lookie here, a fully evolved digimon! Well, I can handle him too! Just watch me, kiddo!"Etomon said
"MetalGreymon?"Joe asked
"It was the power from the Crest!"Matt said
Anyhow, Tai slides down some of the sand that has become a hill. Tai raised his crest in the air and shouted:
"Etomon is everybody's enemy, use the power of the Crest!"
"What's with you? Is there no end to your stupidity? Well maybe I can put an end to it for ya!"Etomon asked
Etomon throws another ball, but MetalGreymon slashes it apart with his metal claw. Etomon recoils in shock.
"Hey, it was just a joke!"Etomon replied
"Amazing."Melody and Renamon said
"Finish him now, while we have the power!"Tai shouted
"No, back off, baby!"Etomon cried
MetalGreymon shoulder-barges the Ball of wires.
"Ow! What's the matter with you? Don't you know the rules? There's no head butting allowed!"Etomon replied
MetalGreymon glows. The kids are lying on the sand, a short distance away.
"He's glowing! I wish my hair could do that!"Mimi shouted
"It's the Crest power!"TK Replied
"No! Don't destroy me! I've got too much talent!"Etomon cried
"Giga Blaster!"MetalGreymon shouted
Twin shark-shaped missiles blast from MetalGreymon chest cavity, exploding against the Ball of wires. It starts to spiral-melt, taking Etomon with it.
"No! You must not defeat me! I'm just too important to die...!"Etomon shouted
Tai slides down towards the still-sucking vortex. MetalGreymon puts out a claw to support him.
"Don't let go of me, MetalGreymon!"Tai shouted
But the sucking is too much for even MetalGreymon to handle, as both he and Tai are pulled upwards and sucked into the swirling vortex. Everything stops, and there's a perfectly clear blue sky above the desert.
