Disclaimer: I own nothing of The Lost Boys. Personally, I would have let them live and taken out Max. I also probably would have killed off Star and had Michael and David in a relationship but alas I don't get this as my own. Oh well.
AN: Here we go!
Chapter 22 - Ending the Hate
It was a solid month after Samara had her change that Maria was released from the hospital. The month had been filled with lots of police interviews and questions. Lucy, Alan, and Cass had visited Edgar multiple times. He was still having episodes with Jorge. They were lessening but still there. Lucy had been present on one visit when Jorge was on the loose in Edgar's mind. He wanted to speak with her and all he wanted to speak about was Samara. Lucy only told him what she could. That she was just fine, having a grand time with her life. He flipped when she answered him honestly about her relationship with David. He had to be sedated. But Edgar was overcoming him day by day. They did support him from afar with letters and the few visits that they could. And for that Edgar was grateful.
When Maria was released, it had been daytime, so the boys and Sam had not been present to welcome her home. Lucy and the others were there and the Cafe had been decked out for her welcoming. Even Max had sent a present to her from wherever he was hiding from David. Many customers had stopped by to offer congratulations on her recovery and to sign the cast on her arm and leg. The casts were covered in so many signatures and wishes for her continued recovery. Maria was thrilled to finally be out of the hospital. She would have been more thrilled if she did not have at least another month before the casts would be able to come off. Also more than anything she wished to be in Paul's arms again. He was so limited in his visits being a vampire and all and then because he could only visit at night. He mostly would watch her sleep and of course he would leave when the charge nurse told him that he had to go. She could not wait for nightfall.
When night came, she was exhausted, but she would stay there for Paul. She needed him. Needed to feel his arms around her. Needed to breathe him in. The roar of motorcycles coming towards the cafe made her buzz. She was so excited. The noise stopped outside and there was the noise of the boys. They just had their own sound. Their own energy. Maria held her breath when the tinkling of the door sound came and then Paul stepped over the threshold. He made a b-line straight for her. He had a bright smile on his handsome face and knelt before her. They fell into quiet conversation, and he examined her casts. He told her about the surprise they had for her at the cave. That Father Abraham was at her mercy. To say she was shocked was to say the least. And she was almost angry. Not at them but at the fact that the evil bastard was still alive.
"Kill him." was all she said.
Her voice was so cold. So empty. It was so un-Maria. But this man had harmed her almost beyond repair. Had almost stolen her life over hate. And in her book, someone like him; someone that could spread hate like water did not deserve to live in the world. He needed to be extinguished. His life needed to end and the hate that he spread like a virus needed to end. She was done with him and if she was able, she would snuff him out herself. But she was not able, at least for another month she would not be able. And he did not need another month of life. So, Maria asked Paul to just end him. Remove his blight from the world and remove him from her nightmares. Save her from the terror he still imprinted on her mind. David assured her that it would be done. Paul nodded and held her hand until she was ready for bed.
When Maria could not hold her eyes open any longer, Paul carefully picked her up and carried her upstairs to her room. Sam grabbed her chair and followed to their apartment. Sam set the chair down and waited for Paul to tuck her in. He left quietly and Maria had never stirred. Sam nodded as he shut the door. The others came into the apartment and the girls said they would all stay with her as the boys finally eradicated then menace to society that was in the cave.
(Father Abraham)
He did not know how long her had been a prisoner of the vampires. Had it just been a few days? A few weeks? Had it been months? Maybe a year? Years? The time just blended in the dark. They had placed him in a cavern deep within the caves. The blonde one that was fixated on the little Latina had taken great pleasure in taunting him and tormenting him. He had harmed him in so many ways. He had not expected any different from such monsters. They were cruel beyond any living being. They lived off the living so how could they have sorrow? Empathy? Sympathy? Love? Sadness? Anger? Yes, they could feel anger. Anger was an emotion of the devil. It was a sin just as was lust, gluttony, pride. Pride had been his own downfall. The damned devil had gotten into his heart and had let a weakness loose within him and the Pride had cut him down.
The anger burned within him. The hate of anything not human made him so stupid and blind to his prejudice and he would never know that it was his own heart before it was too late. If even, then. He would probably go to his grave with hate ruling his soul. The sounds of rock scraping at the opening caught his attention. They were back. A light preceded them before the vampires entered. Father Abraham could see them. Usually, he never got to see but his soul was telling him that it was his time. The end was near. This was different and it was time.
"Here to finally kill me?" He whispered.
"Yes." Paul answered him, "Maria asked for you to be put out of your misery."
"I see. Go ahead. I will be back." This time his voice was different.
David knew that voice. It was the original Dr. Abraham Van Helsing. David knew what needed to be done now. If he died a human, then he would just reincarnate. But if he died a supernatural, even a half, then he would lose his reincarnation. His soul would go straight to damnation.
"Don't kill him." David spoke.
"What the hell, David?!" Paul shouted.
"Turn him." David said staring right into the older man's eyes, "Then kill him. Make him what he hates the most. Then take him out. I will. He will burn."
Paul growled viciously as he looked at the father. It was what he deserved. After what he had done to Maria, Paul was out for never ending revenge. And if he could get the bastard immortal, he could neverendingly torture him, but he would respect Maria's wishes and destroy this nightmare for her. He would make him pay. With a vicious snarl Paul launched himself at the priest and bit into his throat deeply. He did not drink his blood but initiated the vampire change. They could change either with a bite or just with blood. David snapped the man's head back and bit into his own wrist then trickled blood into the man's mouth. In 24 hours, the man would wake as a half. He would be what he hated the most and would never get the redemption to make anyone else's lives a living hell.
Father Abraham crumbled to the ground. David and the other's watched as he collapsed. Without another word they all left him alone again in the dark. They would be back, and his life would end.
AN: Probably not as long as y'all hoped but it is here. This is almost complete. Apologies for the lateness but I got a house and moved. Had to move my job as well. It's been so busy but I finally got time to make a chapter.
