Rachel and Randall's wedding is occurring as they both stand underneath an awning that's surrounded with flowers. Maddie is maid of honor as she stands nearby, the other members of the bridal party standing further away. Ukulele music is playing nearby, Tom smiling happily for the about-to-be-wed couple. Jojo hands over the rings and Randall smiles as he takes one. Suddenly a plane is heard and everyone looks up to see a plane with a banner attached flying by. The banner says 'Rachel & Randall 4EVA'. The people clap as Rachel laughs in awe from the surprise. Tom just gives a knowing look to Maddie as he knew about it.
"Did you...?"
Randall just kisses her hand in response.
Meanwhile, the two hedgehogs are still snowboarding down the hill, the avalanche still right behind them. "Make the call, make the call, make the call!" The pink hedgehog shouts urgently as Sonic pulls out his phone to facetime Tom.
"These rings signify the-"
Tom's phone interrupts the priest and everyone turns to look at him. He gasps as he realizes that he forgot to turn his phone off, laughing in embarrassment. "Sorry." He looks to see that it's Sonic. "Thought it was on silent," He turns off his phone to silence Sonic, Rachel giving him a warning look before fully facing Randall. "These rings-"
However, this time, Sophia calls him, who he did not silence because he wasn't expecting her to call. "SO HELP ME, THOMAS!" Rachel screams at him in anger, people looking at him again. He stammers nervously and rejects Sophia's call, but sees a message from Sonic to call either of them immediately because it's an emergency.
"Okay, sorry. Sorry. Excuse me, this is an emergency," He gets out of his seat and rushes past a person, waving to Rachel. "Sorry."
He hides behind a tree far away from people.
Sonic swerves to the left while still holding Tails, and when Tom calls him, he answers. "What?!" He exclaims in frustration at them. "This better be important. I just..." He falters as he notices the snow around them. "Are you skiing?"
"Snowboarding, actually. But we need your help now! Life or death situation this very second! We need you to use the ring I gave you to save us. Like right now," Sonic explains rapidly and Sophia gives a small wave.
"Hey, Dad, trying not to die, use the ring or you'll never see us again!" She exclaims, just as panicked as her boyfriend is.
"Okay, slow down. I don't even know where you guys are."
"You just gotta picture where you want the ring to go," Sonic tells him. "So picture this," He turns the phone around to the snowy area and he realizes that this is actually an emergency.
"Oh, my god. Okay, okay. Hang on. You know, Soph, when you said you wanted me to take you to see snow, is this what you meant?"
"Heh heh heh, hilarious," She deadpans at him. "Now can you save us?"
He pulls out the ring and tosses it...but it just falls onto the ground. "What?" He murmurs in confusion, rushing over to pick it up.
"Did you throw it?" Sonic calls out over the phone. He picks it up and takes a closer look...only to realize that the ring is one of the rings for the wedding.
"Oh, God."
"What? Tell us what 'Oh, God'," Sonic demands and Sophia growls a bit as she feels like she's about to get angry at her dad, and it would be justified.
"Daddy...what did you do?"
"I think I mixed up the rings when I was teasing Jojo," Tom answers nervously to them.
"Nooo," Sophia glares at her dad just like Maddie did when she found out her husband knocked out Sonic with a tranquilizer gun.
"I-I didn't know," He stammers to her. "Man, you're just like your mom."
"What?! Where is it then? Where is it?!" Sonic exclaims rapidly and Tom turns to the couple as Randall is about to put the wrong ring...on Rachel's finger.
"You don't wanna know."
"Oh, but we do, Tom. We very much wanna know before we become hedgehog-flavored snow cones!"
"Wait..." Sophia narrows her eyes as she gets a good look at her clothes. "Oh, you didn't," She groans as she hangs her head. "It's with Aunt Rachel...and the wedding's going on, isn't it?"
"...I-I can't lie...yeah," Tom admits meekly to his daughter; he's never once been able to lie to her ever because he likes being honest with her.
"Aw Dad, come on!" Sophia shouts as she lets her head hang in frustration.
"Hang tight, guys. I got this," He assures them and runs off.
"With this ring, Rachel...I-"
"Hey!" Tom suddenly pops up to them. "Hi," He states and everyone is confused as he's interrupting the ceremony. "Uh..."
"Everything okay, bud?" Randall wonders to the man.
"Ehh, not really," He answers since he doesn't know how to explain it without it sounding crazy...but then again, there's no real way to explain the situation as a normal thing.
"Tom, what are you doing?" Maddie asks her husband.
"This is gonna sound really crazy, but I'm gonna need to see that ring for just one second. One second."
"Have you lost your mind?" Rachel demands as the crowd murmurs.
"I'm gonna give it right back, I promise. Please, Randall, it's really important."
"No, bro. Go sit down," Randall dismisses him as to them, he's being unreasonable and very close to ruining their wedding.
"Randall, give me the ring, please?"
"Oh, Randall, don't look at him, look at me," Rachel smiles, trying to ignore him.
"Randall, Randall! One second."
"Randall, put the ring on my ringer," His wife-to-be insists and he's about to when Tom interrupts again.
"No, Randall, listen to me."
"Randall! Look at me. Ring on my finger," Rachel demands her fiancee.
"Randall, give me the ring!" Tom exclaims in frustration; he wouldn't have to do this if it wasn't for a reason... "Just one second."
"Put a ring on it!" Rachel shouts angrily from both him and Randall. People stare at her in surprise but then she calms down. "Please, love? Okay."
"With this ring..."
"Yes, baby?"
"I'm so sorry about this..." Tom states before punching Randall in the face. People shout in alarm as they stand up and Tom catches the ring in mid-air. He then imagines where the hedgehogs are and tosses it in front of the beach. Everyone sees the snow and the incoming avalanche. Randall looks up at Tom and then at the portal.
"Snow, my god," Rachel murmurs as everyone looks at Siberia.
"Oh, boy..." Tom mutters before they all run.
"Incoming!" Sonic shouts as he, Sophia, and Tails all fall through the portal, along with the snow. It knocks everyone onto the ground and they all land, some of the guests in the snow.
"Anybody hurt?" Tom calls out as he and Maddie rush over to the hedgehogs. "Sonic! Soph!"
"Ah, Hawaii..." Sonic sits up in relief.
"No more snow for me..." Sophia sighs slowly as she rubs the side of her head in pain.
"Are you okay?" Tom asks the two of them, Sonic helping his girlfriend sit up.
"What's happening? Are you two hurt?" Maddie bends down to them both.
"No, no, no, we're fine."
"Okay, good...because you're in so much trouble!" Tom shouts angrily at them, mostly because of what he had to do, and for them crashing the wedding.
"Okay, you calm down," Maddie instructs him, going back to the two hedgehogs. "You two talk."
"Okay, quick version. Robotnik's back on Earth and he's after a magic emerald," He explains to them both.
"We were trying to find it because it's got enough power to destroy the world if he gets his hands on it, but then he caused an avalanche," Sophia adds in.
Rachel sighs in exasperation, glancing at Randall. "We need to get it back or the world is doomed!" Sonic then looks to the unconscious Tails and bends down to him. "Tails!" He brushes away snow to reach the fox.
"Wait! All this happened since yesterday?" Maddie asks, but doesn't get an answer as Sophia bends down to help Sonic.
"Wait, wait. Who's Tails?" Tom questions and Sophia turns around to her dad.
"He's this fox who found us because he saw that Robotnik was back, and then this guy Knuckles is working with him to find the emerald. He got hurt trying to help us back in Siberia."
"Siberia?!" The two exclaim, causing her to wince a bit.
"Tails, can you hear me?" Sonic holds Tails in his arms, grunting as Tails doesn't wake up.
"Oh, Lord, there are two of them now," Rachel murmurs in slight fear, trying to process all this. She then gasps as she sees Sophia. "Sophia...Sophia, is that you?!"
Everyone gasps as they thought Sophia was human and she cringes, slowly turning around and slowly waving to her aunt. "H-Heeey, Aunt Rachel...this is why I couldn't make it...well, one of the reasons, I've been busy, but we have to focus on Tails!" She turns around to the fox.
"That's Tom's daughter?!" Randall points to her in shock as he didn't know that she was in the same boat as Sonic.
"Okay, let me think. Tails, come on, buddy."
Sophia turns around to her mother. "Mom, I know you've got your first-aid kit on you, we need you to-"
Suddenly nets go around the two, electrocuting them both. Tom and Maddie stand up in alarm. They both fall onto the snow unconscious. Suddenly Randall's groomsmen pull out guns to point at them. "Hey!" Tom shouts as they're surrounded.
"Randall, why do all your friends have weapons?" Rachel wonders and someone steps on a sandcastle, upsetting a little girl.
"You really should have taken me up on that brunch, Mr and Mrs. Wachowski," The same man who gave them the Olive Garden card is standing there, wearing sunglasses and a chief's hat.
"Olive Garden guy?" Tom squints in confusion.
"It's okay, everyone," He holds up a badge. "We're federal agents." People look around, baffled by what he means, and he looks at Randall. "You too, Agent. Go ahead."
Randall looks to Rachel, who looks hurt...and then he digs into his jacket to reveal a badge. "You mean to tell me...that this entire wedding was a set-up?!" She exclaims angrily at him.
"Rachel, wait a minute," Randall holds up a hand.
"What...?" Tom is shocked by this.
"That's correct, man," The chief takes off his sunglasses. "Every single aspect of Operation Catfish was a complete fabrication."
Rachel swings her skirt in anger. "Operation Catfish?! So is everyone here an agent?" She slowly turns to the priest. "Are you an agent?!" He slowly opens his bible to reveal that it has a gun inside. "Son of a—was the florist an agent? How about the photographer?" He couldn't even speak up since he can understand her accusations. "The woman who waxed my..." She gestures to her body, giving him a knowing look. "At the spa?" She throws up her arms, about to cry. "Is Jojo an agent?"
"Rachel."
"What?" Jojo looks appalled that her mother would doubt even her own daughter.
"Rachel, look, listen to me," Randall starts off.
"I'm done listening!" She screams in rage, lunging forward, but two people hold her back. "I am done listening!"
"I am so sorry. I am so sorry," He tells her as she starts sobbing, heartbroken. "I really am. I am so sorry."
Two agents place Sonic, Sophia, and Tails in cages. Tom turns around and sees what's going on. "No. Hey, no!" He shouts as they start to get taken away. He pushes past someone to rush over to them. "Let them go! Hey!"
Randall rushes after him and he pushes an agent before punching another one in the face. "Sonic, Munchkin, hang on," He attempts to set them free, but then Randall restrains him.
"Take it easy. It's not worth it."
"That's my daughter and her boyfriend you're putting in a cage," Tom growls into his face. "That makes it worth it."
"Tom!" Maddie rushes over to help him, but the chief stands in front of her. "Sonic is not a threat. He's on our side. And so is my daughter, you can't do this to my child!"
"Sonic is an uncontrolled extraterrestrial. And your days of aiding and abetting him are over. As for your daughter, we've been interested in her case for a while not only because of her connection to him, but because of...the hedgehog situation. She's his partner, that makes her just as culpable as he is."
Maddie opens her mouth in disbelief as he turns around to the agents, not seeming to care about her protests. "Secure them in the hotel until the chopper arrives."
"You're making a mistake," Tom shakes his head as the three are taken away, and Randall takes him along.
"Hold on, Major A-hole!" Rachel walks over to him, holding up her dress. "This is still my day, and someone is gonna explain to me what the hell is going on here!"
"After the events of San Fransico, a global task force was created, devoted to protecting our planet from alien threats. That day, Guardian Units of Nations was born."
"...G-U-N. Seriously?" Rachel places her hands on her hips in disbelief.
"GUN, yeah."
"Look, what about protecting our planet from Dr. Robotnik?" Maddie questions him, and he just looks in confusion.
"Robotnik is dead..."
"You're wrong. He's back. And you just hauled away the only ones who could stop him," Maddie gestures to where the four left. He takes a few seconds to think and then takes out his walkie-talkie.
"Sounds like Robotnik might be back in play. If he is, I want him found immediately," He then glances at Maddie briefly before walking away. "And cancel my five o'clock at the Olive Garden," He quickly shuffles away.
"Aunt Maddie?" Jojo walks up to her.
"Yeah."
"Sonic, Sophia, and their friend dropped this," She holds out Tails' backpack and Maddie opens it up to see all the gadgets. She looks up at her sister.
"I have an idea."
"And I wanna have a word with my fiance. And that word is murder," Rachel picks up her skirt and they both race off to go rescue the others.
Angel: Can I just say that in the first film I did NOT care for Rachel, but seeing her find out the truth, that's something I couldn't ignore for her character because no one deserves that, even her. And plus in general in this movie, she's not nearly as bad as she is in the first one, so props to this movie for making Rachel likable and sympathetic.
Although...we're now hitting the point in the movie where Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Sophia don't appear for like 15 minutes. And I would skip it, but there is some dialogue I put in there about Sophia, so...yeah. Thanks movie for putting in the like 15 minutes of padding that I'm forced to acknowledge now.
