Abandoned Hospital (Afternoon)
After what happened with Muscular, Connor brought Toga and Dominic to his current hideout to treat their injuries. The girl's wounds were easier to manage because she wasn't harmed as badly as Dominic. Just a few bruises and cracked bones, nothing that couldn't be fixed with magic. As for the pyromancer, things were a bit more difficult.
Dominic was already in bad shape when he challenged Muscular, and the prolonged battle only exacerbated any issues he had. Not to mention the fact that a whole slew of new problems awoke from that incident. As a Fire Elemental, Dominic's body relied heavily on heat to function correctly. Without a proper amount, he wouldn't be able to expend his own reserves to cast spells. During his recovery, Connor was forced to light his partner on fire to heal him. The look Toga gave him when he did this was priceless. Because of Dominic's unique heritage, the flames slowly absorbed into his flesh and blood to replenish his own supply.
While his teammate was resting, the Schnee sat down on an old chair just outside of Dominic's room. 'Always the martyr.' he thought to himself. Hearing footsteps, he turned his head to see Toga walking toward him and sitting down in the chair adjacent to his.
"So, is he gonna be okay?" she asked. The look of worry on her face almost broke the boy.
"Yeah. He's survived a lot worse than this." Connor assured her, his eyes glowing a faint green when he did so. "He has a knack for toughing out the worst possible things life throws at him."
Curious, Toga decided to continue questioning the Sorcerer. "I've never seen a Quirk like that before. What exactly is it?"
Connor knew he couldn't give Toga the truth. At least, not the whole truth. "His Quirk is called Volcano." the mage said. "It lets him do anything a volcano can do. Spew lava and flames, summon rocks, and withstand unreasonable amounts of pain."
"Sounds powerful." the girl commented, remembering the prior battle.
"Indeed. Because of his powers, there are very few things that can equal him in terms of raw strength." Connor said, recalling several conflicts back on Remnant and the Ever-After. "Of course, he isn't invincible. If he gets into a fight with a particularly difficult opponent, he may pass out from exhaustion. Because he relies on heat to survive, expending too much can force him into this state."
"What about you?" Toga asked. "What can you do?"
With a chuckle, the Schnee decided to tell her. "Matter Inversion." he said, forming a small blob of lightning in his palm. "I can convert matter into Dark Matter and use it in any way I see fit. Theoretically, I could do literally ANYTHING with this." A good enough explanation for his abilities. The Dark Element did have countless possible uses, so it wasn't technically a lie. Heck, he managed to revive a corpse with it.
"How exactly do you know Dominic?" she asked.
"We met around 12 years ago. My family was on a business trip to a city that he lived close to." Connor explained. "I left partway through and got lost. He helped me get back to my parents and sisters. We kept in touch for a few years after that, until..." He went silent, remembering his friend's injury and how he needed a prosthetic eye because of it. "Anyways, we caught up around 2 years ago and formed a team with his brother and a girl named Ivy." He smiled at the next memory. "Dominic always felt that humanity was doomed from the moment they came into being. I told him that if someone like me, with my family history, could be good, then maybe there's hope for the rest of the world."
That confused Toga. "What do you mean by family history?" she asked, unaware of the Schnee Family's reputation.
"That's a story for another day." the mage said before turning to an opened door. "You can come out. She won't hurt you." he said softly as he reached his hand out.
From behind the door, a small child walked out. She couldn't have been older than 4. The young girl had white hair and red eyes, and was dressed in a black shirt and black sweatpants.
"Who is that?" Toga asked, not expecting a child to be there.
"This is Eri. She's a bit shy toward new people, so I wouldn't get close to her until she trusts you." Connor explained.
"How do I know if she trusts me?" Toga asked.
"You'll know." the white-haired boy said as Eri ran back to her room. He really hoped she'd warm up to more people than just him one day.
But, after what she went through... He doubted she'd trust another human being ever again.
The sound of an explosion outside the hospital got the attention of Connor and Toga, who ran to the nearest window to investigate. They saw a shopping center that was currently on fire, as well as several civilians and Heroes just outside of it. The boy's eyes glowed green as his vision magnified the image in front of him. He saw a very angry looking blonde kid being held hostage by what seemed to be malicious Play-Doh.
'If I had a nickel for every time I saw that, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but its strange that it happened twice.' Connor thought to himself as he jumped out the window. A cloud of black smoke enveloped him as he flew toward the crime scene.
The Master of the Matter Most Dark was finally ready to reveal his existence to this new world.
Shopping Center (Afternoon)
"Why aren't the heroes doing anything?" a bystander asked as he watched the Sludge Villain rampage.
"They can't. Apparently the villain caught a junior high schooler. It's been like that for a while." his friend told him, much to the horror of a nearby teenager.
Izuku Midoriya, a 14 year old boy born without a Quirk, was scared stiff. If he hadn't grabbed onto All Might, the villain wouldn't have gotten loose and none of this chaos would be happening. And to make things worse, one of his- No. His only friend was the one being held hostage. None of the Heroes present could do anything to help either, since none if them had a Quirk that could damage the Villain or rescue Bakugo.
"I can't do anything! Our Quirks are useless against him!" one hero said, worrying Midoriya.
"We need to back off! Someone with a better suited Quirk will show up eventually!" another hero shouted, retreating.
Not ready to wait for a different hero to arrive, Midoriya pushed through the crowd and ran straight at the Sludge Villain. Once he was close enough, he clawed at the slime, trying to free Bakugo. Unfortunately, the sludge was too thick to break with that method. As he desperately tried to save his friend, he failed to notice the giant amorphous arm above him.
"DIE IN AN EXPLOSION!" the Villain yelled, triggering his captive's Quirk as he brought his arm down on the green-haired boy. The other heroes and civilians watched in horror as they saw a boy get crushed to death. However, the Villain felt something weird. He couldn't feel the boy's body anywhere, as if it vanished just before his arm made contact. Lifting the appendage, he saw nothing but rubble. No flesh or blood in sight. "What the..?" he asked himself as something struck his back. Turning around, he saw a figure in strange robes floating just out of his reach. The figure also happened to be holding Midoriya in his arms.
Connor saw everything. From the heroes shirking their responsibilities to the teenager risking his life to save an innocent person. Using a Spacial Rift, he set Midoriya back onto the sidewalk he originally started at. Then, he turned his gaze to the Sludge Villain as he descended to the ground.
SLUDGE VILLAIN
Water Element
Angry, the villain shot a slime tendril at the Schnee. Sighing, Connor raised his hand, stopping the tendril just before it touched him. With his eyes glowing bright green, the slime solidified into rock and crumbled into dust. "Really, I don't know what I was expecting from the villains here." he blanched, shaking his head in disappointment. "Oh, well. They can't all be strong enough to send a living volcano to the hospital."
Four Spacial Rifts appeared behind the villain, from which four Underhands slithered out and grabbed onto Bakugo. Pulling with all the strength they could muster, the hostage was torn free from his bindings. Once Bakugo was no longer stuck, he too was sent back to the sidewalk with Midoriya.
"Now, let's unclog this overgrown bowel movement." Connor said, pulling his staff out of his own shadow. "Flipendo!" he said loudly, a beam of dark energy shooting out of his weapon. It struck the villain, knocking him back a few feet. Connor then stabbed the sharp end of his staff into the ground, creating a Schnee Glyph that a King Taijutu head flew out of. The serpent's fangs sunk into the slimy flesh of the Sludge Villain, making him scream in agony.
"AGH! Who the hell are you!?" the villain asked as he slowly morphed back into his default form, a result of the two-headed snake's venom.
"I am Sir Schnee. Sorcerer Supreme of Frammentato!" Connor yelled as black lightning crashed down onto the Sludge Villain, knocking him unconscious.
SLUDGE VILLAIN
Defeated!
Toshinori Yagi watched as the strange vigilante floated away in a cloud of black smoke. It was unbelievable. One minute, a villain he let escape was wreaking havoc on a city street while holding a hostage. And the next minute, a Quirkless boy tried to save his friend and risk everything in the process. If it weren't for that vigilante, he would've acted instead.
Sir Schnee. The kid's Quirk was an interesting one, with so many different facets and capabilities. He clearly had practice with it, evidenced by the skill he demonstrated. He certainly lived up to the title of 'Supreme', though he had no clue what Frammentato was supposed to be. His home, perhaps?
But what really caught the hero's interest was the end. Sir Schnee didn't stay behind to take the glory. He just left. Not usually what happened with youngsters who liked playing hero. Then there was the costume. Clearly, a ton of work went into making something as pristine as those robes. The language written on the green fabric seemed to be reminiscent of Egyptian hieroglyphs, but different somehow.
Honestly, he wanted to ask the kid these questions in person. But, he had already used up too much time as All Might. It'd be another 24 hours before he'd be able to take that form again. Besides, there were more important things to do.
The blonde turned to Midoriya as the boy was being hounded by other heroes who were fighting the Sludge Villain. 'I think I finally found the one I've been looking for.' he thought, smiling genuinely for the first time in over 30 years.
