Nikki looked up at tom and smiled "as long as I have two boobs when I walk down the aisle then yes" Nikki smirked
Tom smiled and leant over and kissed her "of course, we can wait until you are ready" tom smiled
"sorry for interrupting theres a Christine Mulgrew and Lorraine Donnegan here to see you"
"well its now or never" Nikki said pulling the duvet over her "let them in"
"Nikki" Christine smiled
"heya" Lorraine smiled as they both sat down
"look I'll leave you too it darling ill go see the girls let them know whats going on"
"Thankyou tom, it saves me from saying it again"
"no worries" he smiled kissing her as he left
"so, you've had the baby?" Lorraine asked
"yupp his upstairs fighting for his life"
"all a bit dramatic these drips arnt they" Christine said
"had an emergency c-section" Nikki said to Christine
"so did I with connor, I never had this stuff" Christine said sharply
Nikki sighed rolling her eyes looking away
"look Michael sent us to come and see how you are" Lorraine added
"im fine you can both leave now" nikki said looking away from them both holding her duvet close to her so they didn't see anything as tears came to her eyes
"oh don't start the sympathetic water works!" Christine rolled her "it's a c-section get over it"
Nikki snapped her head round "its not just a c-section, you have no idea, your so full of your own self importance that you don't even know half the story" she snapped at Christine
"oh come on you are being over dramatic"
Nikki sighed
"right can you tell us how long your going to be in for?" Lorraine asked trying to keep the meeting at peace
"to be honest I don't actually know"
"it's a c-section should be three days Lorraine" Christine said
Lorraine ignored Christine "what treatments do you have left, so we can support you when you choose to go back to work"
"well ive gotta have my stitches removed in 7 days, I have to undergo another operation too"
"okay for what?"
"im having plastic surgery on my breasts" nikki said
"really plastic surgery, and your teaching the kids whats right and wrong"
"theres a reason behind the plastic surgery!" nikki shouted "because ive also got to go through chemotherapy and radiotherapy to make sure all the cancer cells are gone from my right breast" nikki shouted tears pouring as she took her gown off and moved the duvet which was covered in blood "happy now"
Both Lorraine and Christine swallowed hard
"everything okay in here?" A nurse popped her head round
"nurse I think im bleeding" Nikki said looking down at her chest
"lets lie you back down" she smiled helping nikki and undone her gown "yeah your stitches have torn" the nurse said as she pressed the doctor button.
"you called nurse?" the doctor appeared
"Nicola's stitches" she said
The doctor came over and had a look "nasty did you get too stressed?"
Nikki nodded
"okay just bare with me" sacha said getting his gloves on as he stitched nikki back up "right there we go, nurse please keep an eye on it for me, you stop getting so stressed." Sacha smiled at nikki "your first chemo is tomorrow morning okay, these tablets im prescribing you will help with it only one thing there is a bad side effect, it makes you sick but it will make the chemo more barable and stop your hair falling out"
Nikki nodded thanks doctor. Nikki sat up again.
"theres a clean gown for you there and the nurses will change your duvet hows your stomach?"
"stomachs fine actually its alright"
"good ill be back to check on you soon"
"Nikki I owe you an apology" Christine said
"yeah you do" nikki replied "you must think im enjoying this, you know bleeding out every point possible, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, my son fighting for his life upstairs, my odd shaped chest yeah im loving it…practically mcdonalds loving it, with the freaky little song before" nikki snapped
Lorraine grabbed hold of Nikki's hand squeezing it "look we are behind you on this Nikki, you have all the support you need, you can take as long as you want"
"legally I have maternity so I know…but I don't want time off, why do you people think because im sick I want time off, I don't…the last thing I want is for me to be moping around thinking when im gonna die" Nikki sighed
"MUM!" the girls shouted running in going to hug her "why didn't you say anything?"
"I couldn't gem darling, I just couldn't"
"are you better now?" Holly asked
"I will be sweetheart…I will be soon" Nikki smiled kissing both her girls "and you both have a new baby brother"
"Mom…we don't…he didn't make it, it was too early" Gemma said a tear falling
Nikki looked over at Tom who looked as if he had been crying. Nikki just broke down "this is all my fault"
"no darling" Tom said coming over to her Lorraine and Christine still watching, he too both her hands taking it out of Lorraine "darling look at me"
Nikki looked up the sobs subsiding a little
"its not your fault I promise, I named him for us Jonathon…Jonathon Joseph Clarkson…"
"after dad?" Nikki said
"after your dad, he was born really premature darling, they couldn't get his kidneys to work, and he just wasn't surviving outside of you, the doctors reckon if you didn't miscarry you would of lost him anyway, his kidneys failed completely darling, which led to his organs shutting down"
Nikki was shaking trying not to cry. Tom turned to the other two.
"I think that's enough for today, I think we need some family time alone if you don't mind" Tom said sharply at the two teachers.
They both nodded, wishing nikki well and making sure they knew they were there for the family.
"come here" Tom said wrapping his arms gently around her as she cried into his shoulder
The two girls were sat on the end of the bed.
"girls your mums gonna need a lot of support these coming weeks, shes been through hell, and we need to make it better for her" tom said letting go of the hug seeing both the girls nod "and we" he said squeezing nikki's hands "we can try again okay, your young im young"
"what your like 40" Gemma said cheekily
Nikki broke a smiled "we can have another baby"
"I want you better first though"
