Alice POV
Why can't they just leave us alone? The Volturi are coming back, and I worry that things might kick off. I have a pretty good idea of what they want and there is no way in hell they are getting it. No one else seems to have noticed, except Bella and Edward and I wonder how Carlisle will respond when he hears what Aro has to say. I wonder how Jasper will respond. Jasper has his arm wrapped tightly around me and there is nothing like the security from him, nothing like the love from him.
I watch the Volturi edging closer, step-by-step. Every movement is pure agony for me and it looks even worse for Edward. It probably is. He starts moving towards me, with Bella following him and when he gets here he simply says, 'you are going to say no, right?'
'Of course I am, Edward. I would never accept that, would you?'
'Well it may not be as simple as that,' he says mysteriously.
'It will be as simple as that, I'd rather die,' I muttered and as I said that Bella looked sick, grasping what I meant. Edward sighed and pulled her towards him, just as the Volturi took their final step. Aro smiled at us with his sick, smug smile and in that moment, I felt sick.
'Apologies for the interruption, Carlisle,' Aro said as the rest of them turned around to watch. I slowly untangled myself from Jasper as Aro continued, 'providing you continue to uphold the rules, we are prepared to offer you a deal.' Edward growled.
'What kind of a deal?' Carlisle asked, stepping forward.
'We'll leave you alone if,' Aro said and my stomach dropped, 'Edward and Alice will work for us.' Silence.
