"No one! I talked to no one!" She tried to protest but the more she tried the more suspicious her friends got. But why was there a need to hide it again? She really can't control the ghosts. "Fine!" she stated. "I saw the ghosts and they said they were leaving!" Naru nodded. "Makes sense."

"What?" The girl questioned. "That's it?"

"I said it makes sense. The spirits didn't appear this time. Now, we know why." Naru explained.

"You're just gonna take my word for it?" Mai for sure thought she was gonna get scolded. Apparently, not. Maybe….. a grin appeared on her face. "Don't you think about acting out. I told you. Save your crazy ideas for England." Naru said as he saw the girl smiling creepily. "I wasn't planning anything." she argued. Naru didn't answer but Mai for sure saw him roll his eyes. "Ok, I was."

"So they left? We're done?" Ayako said in disbelief. "All that work for nothing?"

"We still have to make sure of that. Just in case." Takigawa added.

"And how do we do that?"

"We don't. We all felt the difference in this place. Let's just call it a day and go." Madoka suggested.

"I'm going to call the principal. Then we will decide." Naru informed.

"There's no need for that." A voice was heard by the doorway. "I have been here since early morning." The principal explained.

"Hello, Sir." Mai answered surprised."

"Yes, hello. So, what did you need me for?"

"We were going to inform you that we will be closing this case. The spirits left." Naru stated.

"That's great information for me as a principal and as their father. To be honest I had so many regrets. I decided to visit their graves and apologize to them. I feel like I really let them down. I'm glad they are in a better place now."

"You did?" Mai asked. "That's the surprise visit they talked about!" she realized.

"What exactly do you mean?" The principal asked.

"You-" Mai was immediately cut off. "Nothing, she's just talking to herself." Ayako said.

"Oh well then. If you're done you can come to my office and you will receive your pay." The man turned around and left the room.

Mai instantly turned to Ayako. "Why did you stop me? He helped his daughter pass on! That's so sweet!"

"I wanna go home! If you would start telling him the story there would be no end!"

"You're exaggerating!"

"Mai! You're coming with me." Naru called for her as he headed for the door. "The rest can pack everything up"

"Sure~" She followed after him.

Ayako rolled her eyes as she and the whole team got to work while Mai and Naru were on their way. They quickly finished their business and said their goodbyes or Mai did. Naru just dashed out. Mai was about to follow him…again but she stopped and took a step back. "What I wanted to say earlier. You are the reason the girls could pass on. You helped them and… I don't think they hate you."

The man smiled. "Thank you for telling me that."

Mai smiled back at him then joined her boyfriend. They arrived to find an empty base. "They…really wanna go home don't they?" She stated.

Naru smirked. "I'll need them to be this efficient more often."

Mai watched his smirk slowly turn to smile. "You're smiling~" she teased.

"I know." He leaned to kiss Mai on the forehead. "I'm actually happy where I am."

"Are you sure? You probably could be an idol or something." She put her hand around his waist to give him a hug.

"I would rather have a Nobel Prize than be an idol. But they don't give one for being a ghost hunter and that's what I want to be."

"I can't quite imagine that. You would have to interact with a lot of people like a lot lot."

"And you would have never had the pleasure to meet me."

"Nooo let's not go that way. I don't want to know what my life would look like without you all. It would probably be soo boring. Imagine all these people who are not hunting ghosts."

"I hope you are enjoying it because you will be doing it for the rest of your life."

"No problem here." She smiled. "Ok we should get going, I wanna go home too." Mai took her boyfriend's hand and the both of them started walking.

"You know my apartment is closer to the office."

"Are you asking me to stay over?"

"Maybe"

"Wait but isn't Gene living with you now?"

"I don't have a room for him. If I did you wouldn't have to sleep on the sofa last time."

"I didn't really sleep on the sofa." She murmured.

"CAN YOU HURRY UP PLEASE!" Takigawa yelled from the van as he saw the two of them in the door.

"We're coming!" Mai yelled back as she stopped walking. Naru who was still holding her hand turned around. "Everything ok?" He asked. Mai took a slow step forward. "Let's just go like this for a moment." She then took another slow step. And another one. And one more.

"Are you kidding me!?" She heard Takigawa yelling.

A few slow steps later Naru also had enough. "I think you need a little help with that." He said. Mai was about to ask what he meant but Naru picked her up from the ground. "Here. Can't be helped if you forgot how to walk." He then carried the blushing girl to the van as their friends cheered and laughed.

"Maybe I should carry Yasu like this next time." Gene commented as Mai and Naru got into their seats.

"Mai, look there." Madoka pointed at the window. The girl looked out to see their former classmates."

"Do you wanna say goodbye?" The woman asked.

"Yeah no, let's just get the hell out of here. I'm done." She dismissed the suggestion and Lin started the car.

"And they're gone." Reiko noted.

"Yeah, they're living a fun life." Kaoru commented.

"Do you think we will get to live like this too, or will we turn into these boring adults one day." Yume asked.

"It depends. Do you think she will write about us one day too?" Miho answered.

"We would be her first OC fanfiction." Maiko added.

"But she has to end this story first. Naru and Mai are waiting for their Happy Ending." Yuki informed.

"And the other story too. I don't think we should get our hopes up." Tooru cut in.

"Just let us dream will you." Shuichi sighed.

"And they still don't know about me." Emi whispered

"We should let her end this chapter, now." Nao suggested to my liking.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I hate it and I'm glad it ended. It took what like 3 months to write 2 chapters.

The story of this case changed so often that the dots aren't even pretending to be connected. I swear if you read this one chapter after another and it still makes sense please let me know because I don't believe it's possible.

Just please excuse me. I will try my best to make the next case…. Better? (It probably won't)

And the next case won't be the last one! Yay!

I still have 2 more after that (I think)

It's 03:33 and now I'm going to sleep…. but hay 2 chapters… right?
