The daemon waited in the shadows for the girl to draw near. For nearly a month, they had played this game. It was almost convinced that she was untouchable, but it comforted itself with the thought that it could wait forever, since none of her protectors were immortal, and only an immortal can kill another immortal. So it would wait as long as it needed. And it would have her. Since daemons existed in all times at once, and some young human had killed most of daemon-kind with his unnatural abilities, he decided to err on the side of caution. It was said that the human was immortal, as well.

The daemon was snapped out of its thoughts by the approaching footsteps of the girl. It tensed, ready to strike. Suddenly, it heard another noise. A door being flung off its hinges by the blue hedgehog. "Elise, look out!" The girl turned, and faced the daemon. It seemed that she would not belong to its collection this time. But, the thought that it could wait as long as necessary kept it optimistic. It dissolved its corporeal form.

Soon enough, it would have her...

And then...

The rest would fall into place...
