Quatro wheeled the hoverbike around and backtracked a hundred yards or so until the racetrack was over solid ground, then turbo boosted straight off the side of the track at the next turn. He landed back on the outer rim just as the structure was rising back up out of the ground. One of the two enormous vehicles, or more likely both of them, had to have been destroyed, but even the announcer was saving the suspense.
The tunnel finally came into view: Inside, Cage sat victorious in his tank-car, which looked like the metal version of a bloodied and battered gladiator. Quatro readied his next weapon as the tank-car slowly rolled out of the structure.
"Mr. Slam destroyed. Two contestants left," said the announcer.
